So many egg, so many dragons. Truth be told Cayin couldn’t quite keep up! The Amethyst was surely a beautiful, if oddly shaped little female, and the blue and green looked beyond healthy. Cayin grinned as not one, but three eggs all split open within moments of eachother. Oh a bronze and a green and and ooooh the princess of the clutch!
Cayin didn’t mind that she wasn’t a queen. She was beautiful nonetheless. Of course, so distracted was he that he didn’t notice the approaching bronze, at least until a cry of pain beside him drew his attention back in time to see Liam drop to the sands.
“Liam!” Cayin dropped beside him, quickly rolling him over and paying to mind to the bronze whatsoever. “Where’s the healer?!”

Nai watched curiously as a whole variety of dragons hatched suddenly! Oh what an exciting moment, having so many babies present at any one time. The Bronze was a fighter, that was for sure. How very interesting. He'd need control, center, calm. That was for sure. She watched both the startled green and lion topaz with interest. The green was nice, and the Topaz was certainly a sight. A very lovely sight.
Nai watched out of the corner of her eye as the Bronze headed towards the males. He certainly was no longer relevant to her. She turned her attention back to the other two, then whipped her head back to the bronze. He had just ripped into one of the boys! That wasn't very fair! She gulped a little at the blood, and then watched as the dragon irritatedly moved its way down the line. That wouldn't work, not well at all! It was going to attack someone else! Hurt them, bloody them! It could even kill them! She wouldn't stand for it!
Before she quite knew what her feet doing, Nai sprinted in the dragonets direction. "Hey you!" she yelled at the thing, as if it could understand her. "Knock it off!" Within a moment she had brushed past the boys. It was in this moment that she remembered to think. She tossed off her sandals, knowing they'd get in the way. Danger points were the four legs, with their talons, and the mouth. Effectively that was one extra target than grappling a human, but the mouth was also the largest priority. She'd have to control the head with her hands by grabbing the neck. She'd do her best with the legs. With her legs. Either way, this was going to end beautifully. She had a heck of a better chance than the rest of the Candidates though.
With a turn and a sprint, she gave a small twisting leap, coming down on the dragonet hard enough to give it quite the surprise, but not hard enough to cause any permanent damage. With one arm, she wrapped under the neck, attempting to hold the underside of the jaw. With the upper arm, she pressed, /hard/ against the two nubs, sliding her fingers in between. This would hopefully give her a strong pinch, and force the dragonets neck to extend, keeping those dangerous teeth out of the way.
With her right leg, she put it in front of the dragonets right fore-leg, and then applied pressure backwards, attempting to fold it. With her leg left, she wrapped it behind the dragonets left fore-leg, hoping to extend it and press it forward. This opposite direction maneuver would hopefully unstudy the dragon. And if things went well, once pinned, it would calm and Impress. Either way, it wouldn't maul anyone else.
Feeling herself in the right position, Nai waited for the struggle to come. Hopefully she'd come out of this alive. It was certainly going to be wild. She had one last thought...
'What the sharding Shards am I doing?'
That finished, she became a bundle of instinct and trained fighter.

Linda was trying to watch each egg as much as she possibly could. Though several eggs tended to hatch, a green was from the black cat egg? Part of her was a bit sad but she shook her head... The bronze however was a rather vicious one wasn't he, almost a garnet in a way. However while she was watching the topaz with a little bit of interest the bronze made Liam collapse to the ground.
She didn't teach him how to deal with a Dragon, oh dear she would have to help wouldn't she. Quickly she ran over as she pushed part of her robes to the side to take out some bandages. Right now she just needed to staunch the blood so she could help him get off the sands for the actual healers. Quickly she reached over to try to wrap the bandages around loosely as she needed to hurry. "Its okay, lets just get this a bit wrapped up and bring you off to the side so one of the other healers can get to you okay? You'll be fine and come right back to the hatching and not too far to not impress alright? We just need to staunch it enough to move you."

Not one but three eggs hatched at once, and R'hard was shocked to see the gold egg wasn't a gold at all. "A topaz?" he muttered. He was sure that would disappoint some of the female candidates. Still, a topaz it was, and a confident one at that. He also noted the bronze and green hatching as well. He frowned, watching the bronze's behavior. Hopefully none of the candidates would be hurt by the aggressive dragon...
Nope, too late. One of the candidates went down under the bronze's claws, and R'hard winced. That had to be painful. Hopefully the healers would get there soon to help him. He shot a worried glance at Ooma, hoping she'd stay out of the bronze's way, and out of trouble and danger.

Thaden had been waiting excitedly for this day for quite a while now and had thought he would be prepared for it when it came, but when the call finally came he realized that no amount of preparation could have stopped the excited scrambling that ensued as a result, both of his firelizards sat on the edge of Theirs’ bed and watched curiously, chirping quietly. He quickly scrambled into his white robes and sandals and then ran head long to the hatching sands. He was obviously not the first but he hoped he wasn’t the last either. Oh well, He stood near the back of the group of male candidates and watched silently as the eggs began to hatch. He couldn’t help but get his hopes up each time a hatchling broke the shell, and started off to find their riders. He silently prayed that each one would be his, but then the hatchling would impress someone else, and the newly impressed pair would leave the sands.
Each time this happen Thaden felt a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. Please let there be one for me, please!! He was basically begging Faranth for a hatchling at this point. He didn’t want to be left standing until the next time a dragon that could clutch rose. He wanted so badly to know what it felt like to have that constant companionship that a dragon could provide. He had often heard that people thought of him as an older brother type of guy, and wondered what a hatchling dragon would think of him. A small smile spread his lips as he thought of what it might be like to impress, and if he did impress, what type of dragon it might be to. His eyes took on a far off look as he tried to imagine what he might be able to do with a dragon at his side to help him.
(((OOC: I'll add the others to my actual posts later, sorry this is so bad. But everyone is actually going to be here.)))

Liam, still on his knees, turned to Cayin as the other boy fell beside him. "I'm so sorry..." he whispered, blue eyes wet. "I'm so, so sorry..." As he fell back into the sand, blood staining the sands red, he realized Linda was beside him now, too, and taking out bandages.
She was talking about getting him away from the Hatching, though! That wouldn't do! "No!" He cried, struggling to sit up again. "Just... do what you can. I've got to stay on the sands, Linda! I've got to!" I've got to make sure that bronze doesn't Impress to Cayin! How he planned on doing that, he had no idea, but... oh!
Someone else was tackling the bronze-- literally! Liam was rather shocked. That was... totally against all hatching ettique he had ever learned! Despite not liking the bronze dragonet (for obvious reasons), he didn't want the Candidate to hurt the hatchling! He turned back to Linda. "I have to stay!" He insisted.

"A bronze! See, what did I tell you? I, am a genius." The youngster practically jumped with excitement as he tried to lean further out. He wanted to see it all. He couldn't stand to even blink for fear of missing out on the excitement. Not to mention the youngster had nearly lost his mind completely when that green had wandered into the stands and had attempted to launch himself at the young dragonet in an eager greeting. It was only the firm, ironclad, grasp that Theault had on his young nephew that kept the boy from flying off and causing a scene.
With a firm yank the boy yelped and fell back into his Uncles lap. He pulled a face and tugged at his tunic to straighten it. He never got to have any fun. "Relax kid, those eggs aren't going anywhere. Besides, your dad might try and kill me if you take a dive off these stands and break an arm or something." Theault rolled his eyes at his nephews sulky actions before lifting him off his lap and setting him in the empty seat to his left and stuck a chilled water skin in his tiny grasp, which he took with a small gasp of excitement. How did his Uncle know he was thirsty? "There. Now drink up and watch the show. You'll have your chance when you're older..."
------------------
With a ear shattering roar, Thormyth launched himself from his ledge and dove down closer to the sands. This creature thought she could harm his son?! A female no less dared to attack his bronze offspring?! Now Thormyth wasn't one to go to anyones aide, least of all a helpless hatchling, but long ago he had decided that these were his eggs and he only looked after what he deemed worthy, His included.
The King's dive sent his claws skimming dangerously over the heads of those gathered in the stands before he snapped opened his wings and arched back till his body came to a sliding halt in the boiling sands. Another deafening roar tore from his throat as his crimson gaze swept over the candidates, the eggs, the mothers, and lastly the girl. You dare lay your hands on a King! He snarled, wings flaring as he lifted a claw to grab and swipe at the girl who attacked the young hatchling. He couldn't care less about the other pathetic candidates that were likely in his way. No, the one who had the audacity to do such a thing to his son would be the one to pay the most. You'll be lucky if you live through this day! He wanted her blood, he wanted her screams. Though the bronze hatchling was still far larger then her he was still clumsy and uncoordinated, Thormyth wanted her to know what it felt like to take on something far more agile, swift, and deadly then she was.

Geso had only received his robe for the Hatching at the beginning of the day, and when testing how it fit had run into a major problem: the shards-blasted thing restricted his movement! He couldn't stretch his legs all the way for his usual kicks, and it was tight around the chest, which kept him from his full range of movement. Deciding that it just wasn't going to be a smart idea to be restricted while a bunch of natural born killers were being hatched all around him, Geso had used a heated knife to cut the front of the robe down the middle, and had found he actually rather liked the look (it looks like a lab coat now, sorta).
When the call had gone up that the eggs were hatching, he had made his way to the sands with some haste, and then stopped just inside the sands. Geso just felt it stupid to be close to the newly-borns, especially surrounded by the other morons that had gotten roped into this gig. He was sure that if he got targeted by a pissed off dragonet, the idiots would get in his way, and he'd get killed. So, just to be safe, he'd stay back here thank-you-very-much.
Geso watched the younglings start to hatch, and grinned in amusment as a young Bronze mauled a boy he had been in a lesson with.
"Moron should have gotten out of the way..." He mused, then began to chuckle as a female candidate began to wrestle the bronze. "Fortune favors the bold, so it says."

Izanycorth hissed. That is enough! How DARE you disgrace my sands! she would have taken the candidate from teh sands herself, but her mate beat her to it, coming to the defense of his son, pulling her from the Bronze's body, the bronze leaving a bloody trail on the contenders arm and another on her leg. He hissed as his father took the feisty plaything away, but he went on his way again, irritated, wanting to hurt the stupid one, but needing to find His. Izanycorth looked up at her mate witha soft croon. Thank your luck if he leaves you alive. Girl.
Izanycorth shook her slightly and turned her attention back to her children.
Iirla was not happy about not being able to attend the hatching. Especially as her dragon became upset. Faranth! She needed to be there!
Assaila grabbed Gar's arm and squeezed tight, her eyes going wide as she watched the bronze Gor a boy and she turned and flinched away towards her weyrmate. She covered Anna's eyes with her other hand. Faranth! This bronze was a terror....
R'vin walked into the hatching late, Umeith landing above near Maerath and giving a soft croon in greeting.
R'vin searched for his lover then, his eyes scanning the ground and ran down the stands to S'bel leaning down and kissing him. "Hey handsome," he said softly before taking a seat beside him and taking his hand in one of his, feeling his heart skip a beat.
((Sorry they're all so short. >.>))

Aridani would have gasped in shock if she had been able, but she was stuck sitting in a stunned silence. That a little king hatchling would be so vicious was just, beyond anything she had heard before! What was it about Trelis that brought out such nasty creatures? She was glad, at times like this, that she couldn’t be a candidate. She rather liked how safe it was up in the stands, how safe her life was, overall. Glancing down she saw one of the female candidates moving for the bronze. What did she think she was doing?! She was going to get hurt!
J’degar chuckled at the childish abandon Iro was showing. Was it the man’s actual feelings or was it the fellis speaking? “Sit down you idiot, you’ll scare the poor thing with your flailing.” The sight of a bronze mauling some candidates, while upsetting, was nothing the brownrider hadn’t seen before. The hatchings were wobbly on their feet, many confused as they tried to find their partners. It only stood to reason that a couple candidates would get hurt in the process, especially if they weren’t paying enough attention to jump out of the way. He gave Assaila’s hand a brief squeeze before jumping up in rage as one of the candidates ran up and started winding herself around the bronze like an idiot.
“Get her off the sands! GET THAT SHARDING GIRL OUT OF THERE!” There were rules, traditions, which should have been taught to the candidates. You didn’t touch the dragonets pre-impression. Ever. If they lost a king between because one stupid girl thought herself better than a dragon. Didn’t the candidates realize they meant nothing to the Weyr unless a dragon picked them? For the first time since coming to Trelis, J’degar thanked Faranth that the mutants existed. Maybe the garnet would teach the candidate – ex candidate if J’degar had any say in it – a lesson about rules.
Kayath hissed, staying in her place only because her own unhatched eggs took priority over her golden sister’s bronze. There was no way she was going to leave her eggs and risk one of these candidates stepping too close now. Eyes swirling red, she gave another hiss as Thormyth swept over the candidates and moved to grab the girl-child. Tear her limb from limb Thormyth. Make her scream for forgiveness! The bronze may not have been from her clutch, but she had shared the sands with her golden sister, and that made the other clutch almost as important to her.

So, the boy understood her, and she understood him.
Aedaluth cocked her head to the side as Tk'ri stated down at her, the dark haired Weyrling shocked into stillness. Pet...please, don't act all stupid now that I've found you. I couldn't have possibly broken you already. That would be no fun at all the amethyst decided. Nudging Tk'ri with a sharp slap of her tail against his leg she snapped her jaws together and pushed hungry thoughts into his head. It was time to feed!
The Weyrling shook off the initial surprise as quickly as he could, his mind having gone over thought after thought until finally it came to the unhelpful conclusion that he had indeed just impressed to this dark dragonet. Thank you for pointing out that entirely useless derivation of knowledge Mine. Now, food! Her hide seemed to glow by an inner firelight as she slid around him and started to walk off, stopping only when the three eggs hatched consecutively. He will need to learn brute force is not always necessary, and what an interesting turn that the wanted Gold is a Topaz. I like it. Can we perhaps stay for a bit and watch? This will be marvelous!
Aedaluth's eyes whirled hungry red and oranges while staring after her Bronze sandsmate, the King apparently disliking his choice of riders. Well, he would learn in time. The child that ran after him was brainless as well. Tk'ri smirked, a laugh on his lips as he watched the Gold pick her up off of her son and scolded the candidate. Come, this is boring. Yes, I agree.
---
Miyaka blinked, her eyes staring after te newly impressed Tikrin and Amethyst, her lips pursed into a thin line. Well, lucky him sharding boy! Her hands clutched against her sides as she forced down the subtle mix of jealousy and spite. So he was leaving her to be on her own then....FINE! There were more important things to do anyway, like watch and laugh at the surprised faces as a Bronze and then Green hatched followed by a Topaz from none other than the Gold's egg. This was perfect, this was the sort of chaos she enjoyed to watch!
The white haired healer didn't even move to help Liam as he was injured, it was his fault for not moving fast enough away from the Bronze. And oh what a killer that King was, he was strong where his other colors were weak. They sat idly around and did nothing except get killed during sharding flights! Miyaka enjoyed seeing a young King finally let loose and show the crowd another side. After all, this was much more interesting. Sure she had wanted to help and actually be useful before instead of stand around, but she would not help someone who deserved what they got, and that included the foolish girl who tried to pin the Bronze down.
No, she was stupid to try such a thing, to try and cage such power. Besides, didn't she know that it was more dangerous simply because of the clutchmothers? Wasn't she paying attention? Idiot. Fool. Child. Weak. Her dark eyes narrowed as she watched, hungry to see more, to understand, to know what would happen next. This would be something she was intrigued by, not something she had to become boring with watching. Who would go down next? Maybe the Topaz even, now that would be an even better twist of fate!

The Lion Topaz[/b] swished her tail and walked over to sit at her mother's feet with great pride, though she looked at the bold green who wandered the sands and pawed at another egg with disdain, moving forward and hissing at her, nipping the green's nose slightly and causing the green to turn towards her with a hiss. The Black Cat Green hissed at her sister and swiped at her only to be batted back by the topaz's larger paw. The Giver Bronze looked up at his father with a chirping croon, biting at the little play thing in his father's claw. But the hunger in his stomach distracted him and his mother nudged him gently with her nose to send him on his way back towards the males but he snorted defiance and turned the other way, attracted to someone just starting to stand out. It was a white haired girl. Lovely in her own way with a cruelty that he liked... Oh... This one would be something. He would enjoy hurting her. He lept at her to scratch at her arms. But... he realized something... This was the one he had been looking for! He hissed, leering down at her. M'ka - Miyaka, your Tennath is displeased to find that his is such a week, soft female such as you. You best prove you are as great as he if not greater. Come M'kaMine. It is time for me to eat. NOW! His eyes whirled with the rainbow... despite his demanding hiss. Giver Bronze Tennath Impressed To: Miyaka (M'ka) Pronunciation:Ten-nath Rank: Bronze Size: 44.3 Feet (8.9 Feet at Hatching) Color Codes:996c2bd7a95fb87333Appearance:At 44.3 feet, Tanneth is a large Bronze, and he knows it. However, he is not large due to excess muscle nor excess winglength. This is something he takes great, great pride in. He is large because his body simply is proportionally so, no tricks of the trade to make him seem like it. That is not to say that the King is without bulk, because face it, he is a Bronze after all. His shoulders and chest are built steadily like a working Runnerbeast, and his legs are long and well muscled as are his wings and just about every other part of him too. As far as his coloring goes, Tanneth is a middling brownish bronze that has paler creamy bronze and a pale red bronze as well that is even indicative of terracotta. To be entirely honest, he's not the shiniest or most traditionally bronze dragon, and some have mistaken him for a large brown even at times if far enough away. His hide is metallic though, it is just that of aged bronze more than bright and shining new metal. It also is ornate with various spirals and disks along his neck, legs, wings and tail forming intricate patterns. Tanneth is a King through and through in the way that he holds himself. It isn't just an over confidence so much as a natural air of regality though. For the King, it just comes naturally, and being anything else takes much thought. He hates being any less than someone he sees as competition as well, and because of it will never allow himself to relax or show any sort of weakness. He has a habit of throwing back his head and stamping his front paws as well whenever he is irritated or cross. Personality:Tanneth is a king in his own right. He can be quiet, reserved and watchful. In fact, he is the most watchful dragon you will find. He doesn't miss a thing. What king would? He has to know what is happening and know what is happening at this particular moment. He is a tyrant. King of life and death itself in his eyes. He doesn't look at it as a right to live - but a privileged, one you should be grateful for. Especially when entering or leaving his presence. He allows you to remain alive - make no mistakes. Life is an important and those who chose to waste it have no right to it. He is both a protector of the small and their terror at the same time. He will push them and push them until they break if he can through his words. He will challenge them - all in the name of forcing them to grow. He has a rather violent streak and if he should lose his temper... He may be one to cause a few wounds on his fellow dragons - especially during a flight. He has a great deal of pride - too great. He thinks of himself as the gracious ruler who gives and takes lives without a second thought. Though this is very particular to those directly under them. He will keep them entirely disciplined. He will not take insubordination, disobedience, or disrespect - especially towards him. He is, above all else what he tries to make of himself. He is a hard worker and will forever think of himself as the necessary protector of the weak. He however, constantly feels like his brown broter is trying to outdo him which only makes him feel he needs to prove he is a King more and more. He will be the greatest king and the greatest child of Garnet Thormyth and Gold Izanycorth if he has anything to say about it. Tanneth does not like his Topaz sister in the least. She is annoying in his eyes - as is his Garnet brother and his brown brother is plain horrible. He will likely fight with them on a frequent basis. He is a king in his own way, in his own right. He is an incredible flirt. He flirts to get what he wants and worm his way into the hearts of others. He sees it as greatly important to gain the love and trust of others, even if he does not truly desire this and finds it to be rather boring. He will not stop from flirting with any dragon or forcing his to flirt with their riders regardless of gender. He will push his rider to the edge and back again in order to see them improve as a pair. Mind-Voice:Hmm... what a lovely treat this is.- Deep baritone.
- A hissing tone to it.
- Smooth as silk.
Inspiration:Aten was a being who represented the god or spirit of the sun, and the actual solar disk. He was depicted as a disk with rays reaching to the earth. At the end of the rays were human hands which often extended the ankh to the pharaoh. Aten's origins are unclear and he may have been a provincial Sun-god worshipped in one of the small villages near Heliopolis. Aten was called the creator of man and the nurturing spirit of the world. In the Book of the Dead, Aten is called on by the deceased, "Hail, Aten, thou lord of beams of light, when thou shinest, all faces live." It is impossible to discuss Aten without mentioned his biggest promoter, the pharaoh Amenhotep IV, or Akhenaten. Early in his reign, Akhenaten worshipped both Amon (the chief god in Thebes at the time) and Aten. The first as part of his public duties, the latter in private. When he restored and enlarged the temple of Aten first built by his father Amenhotep III, relations between him and priests of Amon became strained. The priests were a major power in Egypt and if another god became supreme they would lose their own prestige. Eventually, relations became so strained that Akhenaten decided to built his own capital by the Nile, which he called, "Akhetaten", the Horizon of the Aten. At Akhetaten, Akhenaten formed a new state religion, focusing on the worship of the Aten. It stated that Aten was the supreme god and their were no others, save for Akhenaten himself. It has been said that Akhenaten formed the first monotheistic religion around Aten. However, this is not the case. Akhenaten himself was considered to be a creator god and like Aten was born again every day. Aten was only accessible to the people through Akhenaten because Akhenaten was both man and part of the cosmos. Akhenaten systematically began a campaign to erase all traces of the old gods, especially Amon. He erased the name of Amon from the temples and public works. He even went so far as to erase his own father's cartouche because the word "Amon" was featured in it. Even the word "gods" was unacceptable because it implied there were other deities besides Aten. It is clear that the Egyptian people never accepted their king's religion and view of the world. Even at his own capital, Akhetaten, amulets featuring Bes and Tauret have been found. Following Akhenaten's death, Atenism died rapidly. Mostly because the people never really believed in it and also because Akhenaten's successors did all they could to erase Akhenaten and Aten from the public eye. Eventually, Akhetaten became abandoned and the name "Akhenaten" conjured the dim memory of a "heretic king." -Source: www.egyptianmyths.net/aten.htm

At J'degar's words, Iromineelmris tried his best to contain himself. He couldn't help it, though! The baby dragons were so exciting! Those Candidates sure were lucky to have a chance at Impressing to one of them. ...wait a second. What on Pern was that Candidate doing?!
When his friend started yelling, Iro nearly jumped out of his skin. However, the Garnet King of the clutch had picked up the girl, and both Queens were hissing angrily. "Calm down, J'degar... let the dragons take care of it." His eyes had lost a bit of their gloss, as he had run out of fellis by this point, but he was still rather high. "Look, see? Mean-bronze Impressed to a... to a girl?" Shards, was anything going to be normal at this Hatching?
________________________________________
Maerath hummed even louded as Umeith landed on a tier above him and crooned a greeting. His eyes swirled happily. There were dragons hatching today, and His was happy! If anything, that made Maerath more than happy himself, and so he turned to Umeith's Bonded, sending him waves of gratefulness.
S'bel returned R'vin's kiss happily, and grinned. "Hello, handsome yourself!" He said, giving the other man's hand a queeze. "Anyone in particular you're cheering for? Let me catch you up..." He briefly explained what had happened thus far. "And my word, that terror of a bronze just Impressed to a woman!"

Yufa was slightly longer in getting to the injured candidate’s side than Linda had been. The garnetrider had been far off to the side after all, but the moment he went down she had grabbed up her supplies and run straight into the hatching chaos. Dropping beside them, she looked up at Linda with a nod of recognition.
“Leave him to me Miss Linda, you have a hatchling to wait for.” Motioning for the girl to get back with the other candidates, Yufa, pulled out bandages and numbweed and set to work. “Shh relax Sir, we’ll have you patched up. You’ll stay I promise.” She continued working, “I’ll help hold you if you need me Sir,” Did Yufa care if she was putting herself in harm’s way? Not at all. She was a healer, it was her job.
Cayin had no idea what Liam was going on about. What was he apologizing for? For getting hurt? That was hardly his fault! He had just been there watching the hatching, there was no way of knowing that bronze would be so quick to strike. He smiled quickly at Linda as she came over, followed shortly by a healer from the sides, glad someone was willing to help out.
“Be tough Li, a little cut’s not going to keep you from standing.” He glanced away at as the sound of clapping reached his ears and noticed a girl leading away the bronze. A girl on a bronze? Well, whatever floated the dragon’s boat he supposed.

Ooma sighed relieved that the bronze was calmed now...
She watched the topaz and green now, looking almost confident.
The green, she had touched both of the hatched eggs, but she liked the small green... Any dragon was liked by Ooma. She wanted anything.. really anything...
Please...please let me impress... impress....please... She thought...
