It was a nice day, she had finished all her chores and she wasn't needed in the infirmary. Linda could now spend her time in the forest and away from all the people of the Weyr. Freedom, nobody to frustrate her... She could almost jump for joy at the thought of being able to explore in her type of terrain. Hana warbled softly as she echoed the joy her human was feeling. All of her fair was flying about around Linda as they relished in the area and feelings as well. Linda had left her Huntyres at home though so she didn't have to worry about them... There might be felines or something that would attack and frankly they weren't able to really fly or well trained yet.
Rorce was happy too, he was in his element one that he wasn't under a too short of leash from Linda. Cad on the other hand tended to try to stay on Linda's shoulder because he didn't feel like flying all the time. Bu Linda would just shoo him off so he could get exercise and not be too tubby.

It was a need to get away from the other candidates that drove Firo into the forest that day, though he wasn’t just wandering around. No, the young candidate hated doing nothing, so he was jogging, figuring he may as well work himself while he cleared his head. He wasn’t pushing himself to the point of exhaustion, but he had reached the point where his breath came in short bursts.
He wondered how much longer he would have to deal with the other candidates, wondered how far away the hatching was. Truth be told, he held very little interest in becoming a dragonrider, he was only here to please his father. Once the hatching passed he would be able to return to the Hold and leave the annoying candidates behind. That was his plan and, truth be told, Firo thought it was perfect.
His running slowed as he neared Linda, giving her a cursory glance as he passed, though he didn’t stop. After all, he didn’t care why she was out here and he figured she would feel the same.

Hana chittered softly as she showed Linda a picture of one of the candidates that were nearby. Linda scowled a bit but quickly got rid of it as she glanced over. It seemed though he wasn't sent to get her or bother her but just having fun in the forest like her. Rorce however hissed a little bit but not towards Firo... but towards a deeper part of the forest. He had saw something move and he didn't like it. Giving off the alarm and feelings Linda frowned a bit and glanced around to look for Firo just incase she had to try to save him... sadly...
"Careful somethings out here." She called out towards Firo in hopes he wasn't too far away to hear her. He would probably be mincemeat if this was southern and where she lived. Carefully with her blades drawn however she started to move towards the blushes.... as some felines who turned feral came out hissing and growling towards the humans and fire lizards.

He would have been happy to just continue on with his run, completely oblivious to world, but the girl seemed to want to talk, or rather, warn him? He slowed to a stop, glancing back at her curiously as she called out to him. “Of course there are things out here. We are in the forest.” He shot back. He had been at the Weyr long enough to know the dangers out here, though thus far he had avoided running in to any kind of trouble out in the woods.
It seemed she had heard something he hadn’t however, and instinctively his hand moved to his belt knife as the felines stepped out of the bushes. He stepped back, grimacing as he pulled his belt knife out. Maybe if he ignored them they would just go away?

Sadly the feral cats weren't going to go away, Maybe the two humans were in their territory? Or they had young nearby... or they just hated humans period? Linda couldn't help but grimace as she saw Firo get ready to fight... hoping that he actually knew what to do even as a few of the cats went to go attack him. Linda didn't bother to watch or try to help him, he brought out his weapons he could deal with them himself then. Linda started to whistle towards her fair and sending images as she ran towards the cats screaming at them. Waving her arms trying to appear as large and intimidating and aggressive as possible. Her fire lizards going behind her to try to help her look larger with their wings and hides as they flapped and hissed out too.
Most of the ones in front of Linda just jumped into the brush and took off... Two however seemed no intimidated as they actually launched themselves towards Linda. A quick whistle was all it took to have Hana and Rorce circle around to go after them from the rear as the others took off to see if they were needed. A quick flurry of her blades and one of them didn't last long, the other took off bleeding... But of course Linda did get a few new bites and deep scratches along her hand and arms. Now though it was time to check up on Firo and see....

Firo hardened his stance as the felines drew nearer. He had never faced the local felines before, but he had learned dueling from his father. He was young, but he could fight… somewhat. He still had a lot to learn. It was a stare down at first, until Linda ran screaming like a maniac towards some of the felines, scaring off a few. Well, it worked for her so why not? He copied the tactic, though he’d never give her credit for it, and lunged at one of the felines.
It was a successful move, scaring off a few of them, including the one he had lunged at, but one of the feral cats wasn’t frightened by the noise and instead lunged at his outstretched arm. Firogel yelped as teeth sunk into his flesh and he threw his arm out trying to get the creature off his arm.

So he had narrowed it down to only one it seemed to fight with, part of her wondered how but she would probably figure out later... She had hear pretty much yelling so she had a very faint idea. But.... he apparently didn't have any good reflexes as one seemed to be biting down on his arm and he was screaming and trashing like a little girl. A little sigh, since if it really got one of his main arteries he might lose his arm, Linda rushed in with her blades. A quick yell and a slash at the feral cat, hearing it yelp and dash away leaving a trail of blood really. Unknown if it would survive or not didn't matter much to her as she turned towards Firo.
Quickly she reached out to try to grab his arm and give a quick look at it. "Can you still move your fingers?" Was all she said as she tried to see just how much it was bleeding and what damage was done. Thankful that she had her emergency supplies to at least get him enough help... If it was too much for her however she would be able to do well enough until she got him to the Weyr at least if that was the case.

He wasn’t screaming! He had yelped, once, and bitten his lip to stop himself form making more noise than the girl. Okay so maybe there had been a strained whimper somewhere in that too but he tried not to make noise. He was, however, flailing wildly in the hopes of removing the feline and didn’t notice Linda’s approached until the creature had released his arm and run off, leaving a trail of blood. Grimacing he pulled away from Linda, his arm hanging at his side as he wiggled his fingers, wincing at the discomfort the wound was causing. He kept his face ina grimace however, trying not to show that it hurt.
“Of course I can move my fingers,” He snapped at her, feeling pathetic for having needed her help. Grimacing he pulled away from Linda, his arm hanging at his side as he wiggled his fingers again. He kept his face in a grimace however, trying not to show that it hurt. He ignored the blood dripping slowly down his arm and turned to storm back to the Weyr. There was no way in Pern he was going to show a woman any weakness!

Linda rolled her eyes "You listen to a healer's advice now I said shut up and let me take care of it!" Sure she didn't say that exactly but she wasn't really caring at this point. Quickly she started to walk after him and with a sharp whistle sent her fair in front of him in hopes of cutting him off. Then took a leap as she tried to pin him to the ground. If she was successful she would sit on his chest so she could try to immobilize him and his arm to do the work.
Though if she wasn't successful she would keep after him, trying to get him to trip or stopped by her fair or something. Either way though she would speak up again. "Or do you not want to try to impress because you foolishly get sick from infection or bleed out?"

“I don’t need a healer,” He retorted, not even bothering to look at her as he walked off. The wound hurt, and there was a fair bit of blood, but it actually wasn’t anything too serious. He’d be able to make it back to the Weyr and get it dealt with without any trouble. Besides, truth be told he was embarrassed this stupid girl had heard him yelp and just wanted to avoid it.
“Get your stupid pets out of my wa-AY!” He started to say as the fair of flits moved to block his path. However, before he could finish his sentence, he felt the force of a body hit his, knocking him to the ground. He felt the air knocked out of him as he landed face down in the grass The stupid girl had lunged at him! “Get off me you idiot! I said I was fine!” He tried to push at her, but at most only succeeded in rolling over to look up at her in annoyance.

Linda had to admit that his stubbornness and fighting spirit was rather... cute in a way. But that wasn't here or there and not the type of situation for her to even be thinking about things like that. Now she had him trapped on the ground though she tried to pin his arm between her knees so she could get to work. First though she would bring out the numbweed to lather it before grabbing the anti infection liquid stuff and thread and needle. At least it didn't harm his arm too much to the point of unable to use it.
"Stop squirming if you don't want to have to have your arm taken clean off!!" Linda snapped at Firo as she tried to fix up his arm. She didn't care if he could possibly get to the Weyr but frankly she wasn't going to tempt anything with him possibly dying on the way. She wasn't going to be known as the healer candidate who let another die while on her watch.

He snarled as she dared to pin him, wincing at the pressure on his arm. He squirmed, trying to worm his way out from under her. He was at an awkward angle, which was the only reason he couldn’t move! He tried to pull his arm away, even as she spread numbweed on it. The pain relief was enough to make him confident he was fine after all.
“Or, better idea, you get off me.” He hissed, trying to push her again. There was no way he was going to let himself be treated by this girl, not after she had been the one to chase off the felines. That was embarrassment enough! “I don’t need stitches! Keep that needle away.”

Linda tried to just ignore Firo now as she concentrated on his arm. She didn't care if he think he didn't need healing or not. She was going to finish this up... it was up to him if the healing kept intact or not but hey at least she tried. And that is all anybody could really ask of her for someone so ungrateful. "Shut up and deal with it." At least now she tried to put as much numbweed and medicine as she could that she could start sewing it up a bit as she tried to kick him in the site to make him stop moving. Quickly she tried to before he could try to get away as she felt him really trying hard to.
He probably would get free though as she tried to get out a little bit of bandaging to wrap around it however. But if he didn't she would do a quick slightly tight job. If she got that far then she would try to get up and away from this blasted and idiotic and arse of a kid so she could start killing a tree and not him.

Once the needle touched his skin, he did stop moving. He didn’t want to, by all means he wanted to kick her off and leave, but now it was too late. He knew it would be an issue if she somehow slipped up so he froze and contented himself with glaring up at her, wishing she’d hurry up and finish so he could leave. This was just ridiculous! He didn’t like her, and from what he knew from class he was pretty sure she held no fondness for anyone. Yet here she was insisting on playing healer.
“Hurry up,” He growled as she reached for the bandages, figuring if she had done this much then she would finish the job and save him the effort. He winced slightly at the tightness of the bandage, but didn’t complain, at least, he didn’t complain about pain. “You’re so slow, hurry up and get off me!”

He was sure a stubborn one... still thinking he could say these types of things to her and try to get away. Or even hurry her up when she didn't want to rush a job for something poorly. Once she finished though and he demanded she get off of him though she just finished. A snort came from her as she got immediately off... and aimed a kick for his side hoping she at least knocked the wind out of him. "There you go you sharding kid." With that however she didn't feel like dealing with him anymore.
Now that he was dealt with, and the wild felines chased off... Now it was time to do something a long time coming. She took her blade and headed to a tree... and started to hack into it as she tried to fight the tree as she tried to hack out a piece for her to carve.. and her frustrations to fell it.
