The unsure, hesitant steps of the bronze rider could be heard coming down the corridor. As he grew closer to the room in which his child lived his pace slowed even more. Perhaps he could just pop in, and check on the fierce and firey little tot. Just to be able to say he had visited her... Zi'axe stuck his head into the quiet room, creeping around the doorway. Even for a solitude loner like Zi'axe just seeing the wild haired little girl brought a smile to his lips. He stooped, picking up Domi. His face scrunched up as his ears were pulled, and it was quite a scene as he tried to pry to little fingers from his hair. But here he was. Despite everything he had told himself, his pride, his status, Domi was his daughter. His mistake. But still his responsibility. Yes, he hated it. Yet another thing to worry about. Another problem to waste his time... Zi'axe had created Domi, willing or not. He owed it to the poor child. He had to try and be a father for her, however hard or unfair.
And as he held Domi, he laughed as she pulled at his nose. If anyone were to glimpse this moment, they would not see the unfriendly bronzerider. They would see a father with his child.

It was random chance that had U'wa walking down the corridor as Zi'axe visited Domi. The young greenrider was in a hurry, carrying a large stack of skins and supplies for his little section of the camp. U'wa wasn't exactly a strong young man, some might even call him weak, so the weight of his luggage was causing the boy to shake from effort.
It was sheer luck that the boy tripped over his own two feet, sending the skins and supplies flying everywhere and causing a rather large ruckus just outside Zi'axe's room. "Ouch..."

The clatter outside made Zi'axe striaghten up. He placed Domi on his hip, then reddening set her on the ground. Best to not look like a baby-sitter or mid-wife. Patting his daughter's hair, he peered around the doorway, features dulling and hardening once more. His golden brown eyes look at U'wa, and he stood sort of dumbly and watched the boy scramble. "You..ok?" Despite the kindness the words expressed, Zi'axe couldn't muster the gentleness the question demanded. He also spoke with a frown, not a surprise but it didn't help. He knelt to grab a scroll that had landed near his feet. "Keeping you busy, I presume..?" Zi'axe was not one for conversation, and it showed. The bronzerider stepped closer and scooped up a skin, unsure of what else to do..

Oh shards oh shards he had messed up again! U'wa scrambled frantically, trying to pick everything up again, though from the constant clatter of things hitting the floor it was obvious he was having a hard time. He yelped at a sudden gruff voice from behind him and effectively dropped everything all over again. "I-i-i-i'm s-sorry!" Red faced, he looked back sheepishly at whoever he had bothered as he stuttered over an apology. Hopefully it would be some washer woman or something... someone with low rank so he wouldn't get in trouble. The person behind him was anything but low ranked. Zi'axe, a knight! Oh shards and shells he had screwed up royally this time! "Z-Zi'axe, Sir! I-I didn't m-mean to disrupt you..." The weyrling bowed his head nervously. "Y-yes Sir. A-Always busy Sir..." He couldn't help stumbling over the words in his hurried attempt to answer the question. "I just w-want to be helpful Sir..." He seemed stumped on what to do for a moment, but finally U'wa dropped back down to the floor and started stacking his things again. Zi'axe seemed to have the same idea, the man was picking up a skin when Uwa looked back at him. Oh that was bad wasn't it! A kinght was cleaning up after his mistakes. "S-Sir you d-don't have to..." Oh why does it matter if he helps, Mine? I want to go play and you're taking sooooo long! If you love me you'd hurry it up! The green was outside, pacing impatiently on the ground as she waited for her rider to come back outside.

Zi'axe grunted, pausing in picking up a scroll. "It's fine." He said simplely, not sure how to handle the boy's behavior. He could care less if U'wa made a mistake.. Not like Zi'axe kept track or would even remember! "I'm not going to do anything. Everyone messes up." Now Zi'axe let the conversation drop. This niceness had to stop! It was maddening!
Mine? Must you always drag your feet? You'd think with your importance you'd value your time...
Quiet you grumpy lizard! I am busy. Go sun yourself or stretch your wings...
The bronze spiraled down to land in the courtyard. He growled aloud at his rider, folding his wings. It only took him a moment to spot the green. Kasprth was still agitated from losing the chase with Kimieth. But he could still flirt.
Greetings, green flower.
Kasprth's words were deep and smooth, practiced no doubt.

U'wa hadn't realized he had been holding his breath, but the moment Zi'axe said he wouldn't be in trouble U'wa exhaled thankfully. He had always been a nervous boy, but here in the Rebellion he worried about messing up at every corner, especially when a high ranked member was nearby.
"T-thank you, Sir," U'wa replied sheepishly, glancing at the man again as he stooped to add a couple more skins to his pile. "I p-promise I'll do t-two trips next time..." He really didn't want this to happen again, ever. A worried chirp from down the hall drew his attention, and within moments his huntyre was swooping overhead, her eyes whiring with worry as she felt Her's stress. "F-fari shush!" U'wa pleaded as she chirped noisily, "D-don't disturb people..." The bird made a sound similar to an annoyed huff and moved to settle on the ever growing stack of supplies.
Peniath cocked her head to the side as a bronze landed nearby and spoke to her. A bronze! Speaking to her! Mine. MINE! He called me a flower! What do I do? She wriggled in place for a moment, regarding the bronze with curious, innocent eyes whirling with the blues and greens of happiness. A flower? You really think so? I've always wanted to be a flower. The excitement in her voice was rather obvious as she crooned at this strange bronze.

Zi'axe was distracted by his bronze's thoughts, but only his hesitation would have shown it. The bronzerider didn't feel the need to reply.
You are a delicate green blossom. Don't underestimate yourself.
Kasprth complimented Peniath with honest ease. Some days for the bronze brought upon a more flirtious side to the dragon. Today happened to be one such day.
He picked up on the green's enjoyment, and renewed confidence began to show. He angled his head in a regal, maybe prideful way. His wings were folded gracefully onto his back, and his tail curled around his front paws.
What may I call you, green princess? You might know me as Kasprth, bonded of Zi'axe.
Zi'axe shook his head, touching his hand to his forehead. That dragon of his! Always flirting!
A trill of a firelizard could be heard before a little green flit appeared. Nimae chirped, perching on Zi'axe's shoulder. She was soon joined by a lazy brown who took to His's other shoulder. Both chittered friendly noises at the huntyre, eyes blue and green.

This man was so quiet... it made U'wa nervous. His father had always been quietest right before he let out his anger... The weyrling couldn't help but shake a little, backing a step away as subtley as he could and mentally shrinking in on himself. He had hated when his father was quiet - feared was, perhaps, a better word. He didn't have anyone to run to in the Rebellion, no sister to wrap his wounds and numb his bruises. U'wa wondered once again where he had found the courage to come to the Rebellion alone. Well, alone save Peniath of course. Time seemed to tick by slowly, and to U'wa the silence was growing heavier and more menacing with each passing moment. He would have just run if he could.. but he couldn't just leave the supplies behind. He gulped, looking up nervously at the sound of cheeping. Fire lizards! "She's so pretty!" He blurted out before he could stop himself. Scared, he looked warily up at Zi'axe. Outside, away from the silence, Peniath was havign a much better time than her rider. She sat back on her haunches, looking shyly away from the bronze, for once not peppy. It wasn't because se didn't like him, she had just never been so complimented before. She didn't know what to do! You're so kind... She crooned, her tail twitching in curiosity. I... I want to be a delicate flower. I do! But... but mine needs me to be strong. She gazed over him, awed by the sheer regality of his pose. He was a true king wasn't he? And paying attention to her! Oh! She had never been so lucky. Her wings fluttered in happiness. This king had a name - a handsome name! P-princess? You're too kind Kasprth... She wriggled a little bit, inching closer to him in curiosity. My name is Peniath and U'wa is my rider... but... y-you can call me Peni. I always wanted to be called Peni! That is, I mean, if you want to...

Zi'axe watched U'wa silently, sensing the boy tense. His mind churned as he hunted for something to say, but he did not know what. Anxity, no fear crackled from U'wa. This confused Zi'axe. Did it look like the bronzerider was going to harm him? "Are you...well?" Zi'axe tried and failed in this gesture, his words flat and more hollow than anything. He had gathered the supplies closest to him, and now he stood to give them to U'wa. "Here, lad. After you deliver these, why don't you rest? You seem abit... unbalanced.." Zi'axe didn't know what else to do other than to offer U'wa the day off.. Something of how... wide-eyed U'wa was.. It bothered him.. As much as Zi'axe ignored the facts, U'wa face.. It was a mirror of a much younger, kinder but weaker Zi'axe. A Zi'axe who ran away, lived in the woods, fended for himself. He was unbonded then.. With other his bossy Nimae, and lazy Rallie tom cat as friends. And those images came back, the beatings, the hatred. How his father never ever seemed pleased with anything. The punishment for meer mistakes, or the mockery of his failures.. The reminder of how he would never be as good or be worthy of anything like his brother.. How he was destined for nothing..
His eyes became unfocused, his hands slightly shaky. Was U'wa's terror directed toward Zi'axe? Or was it something else? With a mental growl, and an outloud grunt, Zi'axe shook his head.
"What's eating you, boy?"
He asked, surprised and perhaps disgusted by the softness in his voice. Fareth, today just got better and better it seemed.
Nimae chirped at the compliment, chittering bright sounds and bobbing her head as if she agreed with U'wa's statement. Felzer yawned, half closing his eyes. How silly His was, working working working. Why not spend his day relaxing?
Kasprth tilted his head ever so slightly as he listened to Peniath, nodding faintly before speaking.
But you are strong, Peni. Brave and loyal. Like a regal queen. Yes, a green queen.
Kasprth let out a rumble, like a purr of sorts.

U'wa started as Zi'axe spoke again, he had always been a jumpy boy and it only got worse when he fell into a state of worry. "Y-Yes Sir, G-Great Sir.." He choked out, worried that saying anything else would be the wrong answer. "T-thank you sir... but I'm f-fine. R-really, I-i have w-work to d-do. I-i'm a good weyrling... I n-never shirk my d-duties, honest!" How many times had he been beaten for taking a day to rest as a child? He couldn't handle that happening again. And he was fine, if perhaps a bit nervous. However, with Zi'axe speaking more, and even offering words of kindness... perhaps he really wasn't in trouble?
Glancing at Zi'axe, U'wa was actually shocked to see the distant look in his eyes, one the young greenrider had seen many times in the looking glass before. Zi'axe seemed.. almost as out of it as U'wa felt. He knew he should feel bad about it, it was likely his fault, but seeing the intimidating man looking like that actually brought a hint of comfort to U'wa.
"It's n-nothing, sir. Honest..." It was a lie of course, but how could U'wa tell the man his previous silence had reminded him of his abusive father? Fari chirped and fluttered to his shoulder, nuzzling into his cheek. "Th-thanks you though... sir... for worrying."
Peniath wriggled happily as Kasprth continued to pour compliments on her. He was so sweet! She never knew a big bronze like him would ever pay her any attention. Oh, you're so charming Kasprth!

Zi'axe tilted his head backwards, letting his chin angle up. Something about the fear U'wa showed bothered him. He wasn't a bad man. He wasn't always the nicest, but he didn't mean any harm. Did he really come off as such a terror? The sheer fear in U'wa's eyes.. the way the boy looked around as if thinking of fleeing.. the way he flinched whenever Zi'axe spoke... Memories, bitter and dark flashed before Zi'axe's eyes. How his father would come home, no doubt drunk. Flying into a screaming spitting rage for nothing more than a question. The bronzerider actually cringed. He shivered and stared at the ground. Fareth... When had he thought of this last? Not for a few turns no doubt.
Kasprth was definately happier than his rider, his tail touching Peniath's wingtip softly. This green was different.. sweet and humble. He liked her. To him, she was a breath of freshness. Something wonderful and beautiful and exciting.
Zi'axe reached to touch U'wa's shoulder. "Go on and take the rest of the day off. I trust you've worked plenty. Besides, I'm sure Peniath would enjoy seeing you."
Something had softened Zi'axe. Not permanently but for the moment atleast...

Banemith landed at Rindell, his head low with regret. He had lost Kayath's and Izanycorth's maiden flights and now he was more depressed and angry than ever. As his rider, G'daro dismounted, Banemith saw something up ahead in the living area. It was Peniath! He roared with delight at the sight of her, but then he saw something else that was with her. A rival bronze was trying to win her away from him! He bared his teeth and charged at the bronze. Blocking him away from his first love, he snarled, his eyes swirling red with rage.
HOW DARE YOU TRY TO WIN HER AWAY FROM ME! he screamed at the bronze, clawing at the earth with his claws SHE IS MINE YOU HEAR ME! MINE!!!! And with that, he snapped at the bronze, grabbing hold of his snout with his teeth, not letting go. LET HIM GO, BANEMITH!! G'daro shouted at his dragon. Banemith grumbled and let go. He would not let this bronze impostor steal his first flight love away from him...

Kasprth let loose a savage hiss, tail lashing as it was cut short as the intruding brown clamped his jaws. Stand down, brown! You shall not mess with this king. I can do as I please. And you do not own this princess. I have the rights to fill her ears with words of truth and beauty. Kasprth snapped his massive jaws at Banemith's face, missing it by a hair. How dare this male come and tell him what to do!? Snarling the bronze unfurled his splendid wings, and rose onto his hind legs. Do you challange me, Banemith? Come at me tooth and claw and prove to me your worth!! And with a shattering roar of power and rage, Kasprth leapt into the air. Threatening the brown was his goal and he dove at him and nipped sharply, however he did not break hide. Though he would.
Zi'axe grabbed his head, covering his ears. "Damn it!" He cursed, stumbling out to see what was happening. His dragon was fighting!

You're being boring again Eiko. Come on, I'm oiled enough as is, I'm not like those Topazes that always need to be gleaming!
The Obsidian snapped at her rider, a slight hiss escaping her jaws as the girl tried to oil a patch of flaky skin. "Yes, but Nim you won't like it later if I don't take care of you." Snorting she flicked her tail and placed her head back on her front paws. Amy trilled from her post on Eiko's shoulder, the little firelizard humming a song and flicking her wings back and forth to keep Hers cool. Despite it being late winter it was warm, much too warm.
And so the Brown returns. Nimarath looked up at the sky as Banemith came from between, an amused look on her face. Well, had the big strong Sub-King lost his flights? Snorting the dragonet shook Eiko off and nuzzled her until she was upright again. "Don't bother him Nim, he's probably sore about losing. He wouldn't be back if he hadn't lost." She knew now that many of the Knights and Weyrlings had gone to the Gather in the hopes of catching Kayath and Izanycorth, it was a perfect opportunity to place someone within the ranks. However, none of theirs had won.
Rubbing her hands on her pant legs, Eiko patted the dark hide of her Obsidian. Oh Banemith, Kasprth, why waste your time on something that is...so easily broken? Nim... With a single wing beat the Green-sized Obsidian dragonet was up into the air and heading for the little group of dragons. She sidled against Banemith, her tail flicking over his in a manner of flirtation. Now, now, such a lovely young Prince as yourself deserves more than her surely? Eiko ran, Amy hugging tight to her shoulder before finally letting go and doing loop-de-loops in the air as she followed.
Nimarath was bad in normal times, but when she got the hint of insecurity or fear, she was on it in a heart beat. Nim, don't! As for you Kasprth, I would have thought you'd have better taste than this. Poor thing, doesn't even realize she's fit for the Blues and Ebonies. Finally the weyrling reached the other riders and she clung to the doorway as she breathed in deeply to catch her breath. "I'm so sorry, she's really bad today!" Nim, stop! The Obsidian's eyes whirled red and she hissed, her tail snaking back and forth. They were weak, they deserved this. Another tug from Eiko though, stronger than she normally would have received had her beating her wings in a snarl before settling down with a yellow, orange gaze.

U'wa didn't want to take a break... couldn't! Breaks were for weaklings and failures at least that's what father had always said. Luckily, he was saved from responding by a sudden bellow of dismay from outside, accompanied by fear and worry from his green companion. The few items in his hands clattered to the floor once more as he booked it out of the tunnel, his mind set on calming his dragon.
Peniath didn't know what was happening for a moment. One minute Kasprth had been nuzzling against her with her sweet words, the next minute a second male had arrived. Banemith! Peniath cried out, recognising him now; her chaser, her hero! She bugled again as they fought, worried, terrified... and a little honoured to have such fine, strong males fighting over her. Finally though, worry won out over her feelings of honour and she bugled again, trying to get their attention. Ooh please stop! I don't want to see such bloodshed!
Her attitude changed as Nim arrived however. how dare that banshee cuddle up to HER mate! She let loose a growl, feeling suddenly possessive of the males. She didn't care if the other female was an obsidian... Kasprth and banemith were fighting for her! She wanted their attention and she wasn't going to share it! U'wa finally made it outside, gasping at the site that awaited him.
"G-G'daro!" He couldn't help blushing as he noticed the man who had been his first, despite how dangerous the situation had become. "P-Peniath get back! Stay out of their way!" {Sorry its short!}
