She was laughing at him again! He'd had worked so hard at surviving that horror, and she had the audacity to laugh! He scowled. He was only bad because he didn't know how to do these crazy Weyr dances! Back home they had often spent time around the town bonfire, dancing and celebrating successful hunts, or congradulating the new young men and women who had officially come of age and proven their hunting prowess. Those dances were wild though, truly allowing one to just let themselves get absorbed in the music. Weyr dances seemed to involve specific steps and timing... he didn't know how to do it. Of course, there was one type of dancing that seemed to be universal; the slow dance.
"I'm just fine with th'right dance," he grumbled back, his hands moving to a more comfortable position on her hip. She would dance with him once more - She had no choice in this. He had his dignity and pride to protect and there was no way he was letting her run off before he proved himself. Well, she hadn't exactly raised any argument... so that must mean she was okay with it, right? He never broke his gaze with her, even as he began moving in time to the slow music. He searched her eyes, looking for some inkling that said he was doing well, that she wouldn't keep laughing.

Naomi raised her eyebrows at Korvin’s grumbled words, and didn’t move as he moved his hands to her hips. She got the distinct feeling that she wasn’t going to have a choice about dancing with him once more, not that she would have objected anyways. Oh well, might as well let the man think that he had control, at least for a little while. There was no harm in it, at least not in her mind. She was surprised that he hadn’t torn his gaze away from her’s, and she wondered if he was trying to intimidate her, and make her look away first. Well he had another thing coming, she wasn’t going to look away any time soon, and she hoped that he wouldn’t either. She let him start moving her into the rhythm of the dance, and soon felt herself ease into the motions.
Naomi couldn’t help but feel ecstatic over what was going on at that moment. Her eyes twinkled with joy as she stared into Korvin’s never blink green eyes. She was surprised at how well he was doing for not being drunk, and it shown through into her light, smoky gray eyes. He wasn’t stumbling or miss-stepping with every other step, and seemed surprisingly graceful for someone as wild as him. Well, she figured that was what she liked about him, his wildness. But now she was starting to think she truly enjoyed being around this Korvin more than even the wild Korvin that she enjoyed arguing with, and teasing oh so much. But there was that nagging feeling in the back of her mind, and the pit of her stomach that told her that this wouldn’t last for much longer, after all, he was only hear for Boar.

A-ha! He had shown her! Look at how speechless she was now. Korvin felt like king of the world now, having finally regained that shred of dignity and pride. Where the previous dance had left Korvin tense and insecure, this slow dance found him completely at ease, almost fluid even. This was something he had had some practice with, and Naomi's sudden silence was all it took to boost his confidence back up. He still wasn't as good at slow dancing as he would have been at a campfire dance, but he was definately passable. Though, as time ticked by without any sound between them, Korvin had to admit it was slightly... unnerving? Silence from Naomi usually meant she was upset... perhaps she hadn't wanted to dance again?
"We should go hunting." The words slipped out before Korvin could stop them. He had been contemplating asking her for a while... ever since she had brought a kill to his temporary cave. He wanted to see her in action, to observe her hunting abilities and techniques. In some ways he wanted to see how she did things so he could add her knowledge to his own. On the other hand... he might have just wanted an excuse.

Naomi really was surprised at how well Korvin slow danced, and wondered if he had had practice when he was younger. She had a feeling that by being as silent as she was, she was bolstering his confidence, and wondered if she was also boosting his ego, and wondered if she should say something, but didn’t know what. After all, she didn’t want him to get a big head because he impressed her with his slow dancing skills. She paused mid-step, but quickly recovered and resumed dancing with him. Had he actually said he wanted to hunt with her? Or had she just imagined it? So many thoughts were racing around inside of her head that she couldn’t really think straight for a few moments. She had always wanted to see him in action, to see just how good of a hunter he really was.
Naomi searched Korvin’s eyes for any hint that this was just a strange joke, but she couldn’t find what she was looking for. We should. Her voice was soft, and even as she spoke. She had done her best to keep the emotions she felt out of her voice. There would be no point in letting him know that she felt like jumping for joy, or that she wanted to smile and hug the man she was dancing with. No, he would probably think very little of her if she did, so instead she kept what she was feeling to herself, but she felt Nask in the back of her mind and smiled briefly at the blue wher’s feelings. He was proud of her, and she wondered if he had been waiting for something like this to happen ever since he had gone hunting with Korvin’s white wher Kosk. Well, it looked as though the blue would get his way once again.

There it was, the tiniest hint of the old Naomi. It was slight, almost unnoticeable, but she had definately misstepped as he spoke. It really shouldn't have come as a shock to her. After all, she had basically forced Korvin back to the wherhold, so he would simply return the favor and force her out into the wilds for a bit. He wondered briefly how she would handle spending multiple days out there... as far as he was aware, she was one of those hold hunters - always having a warm, safe place to return to. He knew she had some decent hunting abilities. She had proven that by bringing down that herdbeast, so Korvin had no doubt they'd be rather successful hunting together... unless of course they got to arguing. The whers would likely be a big help too, and Kosk had been hounding him lately to let her visit Naomi's blue, so it would be like killing two wherries with one stone. "Y'better not drag me down," There was a cocky gleam in his eyes, though he kept his emotions in check now. He wanted to see her hunt as she normally would. His father had always said yo never truly knew someone until you hunted with them. Well, that hadn't saved his family i the past, but it was still ingrained in Korvin's mind enough to be tradition.

Naomi didn’t know what Korvin was up to, and wondered if he was planning a trap for her. She wondered if he was going to try and trip her up once they were out away from the watchful eye of the Weyr. She contemplated all the ways he could try and mess her up , just for the sheer joy of seeing her fail, and wondered if he would actually do such a thing to a fellow hunter. She remembered what it was like when she was younger, and still living with her family. They did have a home to go back to, but once a member of her family had graduated to full hunter status, they started to live out in the wilds with the rest of the hunters in her clan, and only really went back to the hold to sell the furs they had obtained, or when they were sick or injured. So even though she had had a place to go back to, most of her past had been spent in the wild with the rest of the hunters in her family.
Naomi had never seen Korvin hunt, but the fact that he had lived on his own in the wilds around Trelis for so long without much human contact was testament to the fact that he knew what he was doing. The fact that they couldn’t be in the same room together for more than a few moments without arguing was what was really making her hesitant. How could they hunt effectively if they were preoccupied with screaming at each other about something-or-other? That’s when she heard his next words, and fell like slapping the teeth out of his mouth. Don’t worry about me, I’m more worried that you’ll get us killed. She looked at him seriously as she spoke, and there was a challenging gleam in her eyes. It wasn’t a challenge for an argument, no this challenge would have to be met out in the wild.

Korvin seemed to share many of the worries that Naomi had. He was well aware that they never seemed to go more than a few minutes without yelling at eachother (though Korvin would place the blame entirely on the woman). That said, they HAD lasted an entire dance with nothing more than quiet jabs at eachother... there could be a potential for teamwork there, somewhere. Korvin rolled his eyes as Naomi tried to goad him into arguing.
"I ain't died yet. It'll be you gettin' us killed." The only truly near death experience he had had was the incident with the rock, all those Turns ago. The scar from the injury still hrut from time to time. "I've been livin' out there m'whole life. I ain't gunna mess it up now." The very idea was pretty pathetic too. With Kosk and Gray, he knew he was pretty safe.

Naomi raised her eyebrows at Korvin’s words. Oh yes, this coming from the man that got himself stuck under a rock. She stopped dancing with him as she spoke, and placed her hands on her hips. You might have been out there for most of your life, but don’t forget who it was that ended up having to come to your rescue Korvin. She smirked, and then started to strut away from him. She knew she was turning more than a few heads as she made her way out of the dancing tent. But none of those heads mattered to her, there was but one head that she was trying to get to. If this didn’t work then she would just have to fall back on plan B and find a way to mess with him while they were out in the forest. She was sure that she would find a way to mess with him as much as he had messed with her.
Naomi knew that he hadn’t actually messed with her on purpose, but he was about to pay for it, even if he didn’t know it yet. She felt Nask in the back of her mind, and knew that he was shaking his head at her. Let me be, and let me enjoy myself. She knew she would have to explain things to him once she got back, but she didn’t care. If that was the price for a little bit of fun then so be it. She carefully glanced back over her shoulder, wondering if Korvin was following her or not. She didn’t quite understand why, but she was actually hoping that he was. But whether or not he deemed her worthy enough to follow for whatever reason, was something that she was just gonna have to wait and see. She looked forward again, trying to keep herself calm and focused. There was no point in getting over excited this early in the game.

"If I recall, y'were the one t'twist yer ankle on a tree root." He retorted, crossing his arms as she pulled away. "N' I had to carry yer sorry ass home." He didn't know if she had heard him though, as she had taken no time before strutting away. His eyes narrowed as some of their fellow dancers followed the huntress out of the tent. Scowling, he stomped over to the drink table and took a swig of the first skin he came across. Stupid Naomi and her stupid, difficult ways!
He groaned. With Naomi gone there was no reason for him to remain in the dancing tent... but should he follow her? Well, he could decide when the time came. His feet carried him out of the tent and it didn't take long for his eyes to find Naomi. Well... she was going to same direction he wanted to go... but he didn't know if he really felt like dealing with her. Maybe if he just hung back far enough... Taking another swig from his wineskin, Korvin started after the woman, walking with a slow, lazy pace.

Naomi smiled triumphantly when she noticed that Korvin was indeed following her, if a bit far behind. She figured he was just trying to make it seem like he wasn’t following her. This gave her the funny impression of him stalking her, which made a shiver run down her spine. She didn’t know if the shiver was from fear or anticipation, but either way she didn’t stop to find out. She had noticed that he had something in his hand, but from the distance that they were at, she couldn’t tell what it was. She giggled silently to herself as she thought of how hilariously frustrating he became when he was drunk on wine. It actually made her kind of worried for the poor man. She didn’t know it at the time, but she had eventually found out that the first time Korvin had ever really drank was the same night the tow of them shared so many first together. The same night that Korvin seemed to want to forget.
Naomi remembered a bit, but unlike Korvin, she wanted to remember everything she could. Her mother had told her that the first time she slept with a man should be memorable, but it seemed that fate had another idea. She sighed softly when she finally reached a small out-cropping of trees. It was such a lovely night out that she didn’t feel like going back to the Wherhold right away. Instead she had decided to come to these trees and relax a little bit before going back to her duties as a Trelis wherhandler. She lay down on the ground near the middle of the cropping of tress and just stared silently at the sky. There were so many thoughts and questions bouncing around inside of her mind that she couldn’t help but feel the need to speak to the silent night sky. She knew that whatever was up there wouldn’t answer her verbally, but she felt that there was a chance that she could be answered in another way.

Luckily, Korvin had learned a valuable lesson the last time he had dealt with wine, and he had no intentions of that happening again. Ever. The skin he had picked up was, perhaps, half full at best and he didn't plan on even drinking all of that. He had been in need of something to wet his whistle, nothing more. In truth, Korvin was terrified of that night. Not because of what had happened, but because of all the things he didn't know about. Since their encounter in the woods, Korvin had spent quite a bit of time contemplating his short Weyr life. It was strange really... he hated the wherhold and yet he had longed for it during his lonely nights. Not to mention... Naomi HAD said it was his running away that had angered her.. not... 'that'. That knowledge helped make living here a little more bearable. Korvin watched as she found a place to sit and relax, suddenly feeling awkward for having followed her out here. He had thought she would head back to the Wherhold... he had been counting on it in fact. He could stop here and relax under a tree as well, which was a horribly tempting notion if it wasn't for the fact it would make him look like a stalker. Or, he could continue on and head to the Wherhold. Groaning to himself, he scratched at his chin once more and made a decision. He would just walk by! Really slowly... He continued along the path, keeping an eye on Naomi's form as he continued on towards the wherhold. She could stop him, if she wanted or she could let him past.

Naomi sighed and smiled as she saw that her breath was visible against the cool night air. It had always amused her how peoples breath did that, but she didn’t have long to think about it. For soon she heard someone’s footsteps. She tensed, almost imperceptibly, and waited to see who was coming and what they wanted. She had a feeling it was Korvin, but one could never be too sure what might pop out from the dark. She relaxed again when she saw that it was just Korvin, and wondered why he was walking so slowly. She raised her eyebrows curiously but shook her head. I have a question for you Korvin. Her voice was soft, and she wasn’t even looking at him as she spoke. Instead she was staring up at the sky wondering just how many stars there really were in the sky.

Korvin didn't notice the chill in the air or the way his breath puffed in front of him as he breathed. Such details had never really been important to him before; he was rarely cold and his attention was generally focused on watching for prey and enemies. He took another swig of wine as he walked past the woman slowly, almost positive that Naomi knew he was there. In fact, he hoped she knew or he was going to regret inviting her along on a hunt. It wasn't like he was trying to pass unheard after all. He stopped as she spoke, wondering if he should just continue on, or stand there, or move towards her. Knowing the woman, the question was probably something stupid and annoying.. yet the softness of her voice made him worry that, perhaps, her question held some importance. Well, he supposed with a sigh, he had better hear her out before passing judgement. He moved closer, crossing his arms and leaning against the tree. The wine skin hung down from his hands and, if she wished, Naomi would easily be able to grab it - he was practicaly handing it to her anyways. He gave a grunt, a simple sound to show he was listening as he looked down at her.

Naomi wasn’t sure if he had heard her or not, but her fears were soon unfounded when she heard his footsteps stop. She turned her head slightly, just enough so that she could see him out of the corner of her eyes. She saw the wineskin, and heard his grunt. But made no move to reach for the drink, instead she turned her head back towards the sky. Have you ever wondered what it would have been like if you hadn’t been born a hunter? Or ever came to the Weyr or impressed? She tensed as she spoke, and did nothing to hide it. She was slightly afraid of his answer for she thought he would judge her poorly for it. But she had wanted to know what he would say since she had been wondering over the same question for more than two turns already, and she wanted to know what the man would say.

Korvin stood silently for a moment, wondering what had brought forth such a strange question. With a sigh, figuring he wouldn't be going anywhere for a short while at least, he dropped to the ground. Another small swig was taken from the skin as he thought about it, at first wondering if he should just ignore the question.
"Well... th'Weyr part is easy I s'pose." He finally answered, once again rubbing at his bare chin. "I would've kept doin' wha' I was doin. Livin' out there with th'mutts." In fact, despite coming to the Weyr he still kept to his old lifestyle in a lot of ways. He didn't want to be here... it was so stifling and noisy... and oddly he felt less safe here then in a cave. But... Naomi had been right when she brought him back... he had others relying on him now... Boar was a testament to the fact he couldn't survive on his own in the wild much longer. He would have to get use to Weyr life... and hopefully he would be able to sneak out from time to time to enjoy the thrill of hunting.
"You gotta answer too. I can't imagin' not bein a hunter." He said gruffly. "It's who I am." It was a simple enough answer, but he supposed he could offer an idea, since she was interesting. "My mam was a breed'r. I s'pose if I was Holdbred I would 'ave done that." He shrugged, not wanting to think too deeply... but it was too late for that. If he had been born in a Hold or Weyr... maybe his family wouldn't have met their end at the hands of his brother. His shoulders slumped at he leaned into Naomi sadly, though he was deep enough in thought that he didn't notice.
