Name: G’lwein
Pronunciation: Gel-Wayne
Age:26
Season Born In: winter
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Hetero
Appearance: G’lwein stands at an impressive 6’4’’ tall. He has hair that's a dark auburn. It reaches the level of his ears and touches the back of his neck. His skin is a light sunkissed tan and looks rather well taken care of despite his penchant for taking long flights every day with his Gormyth.
His face is oval shaped. A slim nose and high cheekbones give him an almost delicate look. He stays clean shaven the easier to show his killer white smile. His eyes are a golden brown, almost honey colored in the light. They can sometimes take on a more malicious gleam taking him from angel to demon in a heartbeat. Very few people see this, but it’s most definitely there. For the most part, people remember him as the sweet brown rider with young features and always a kind word.
His body is lean. To see him from a distance, one would think him a teenager who'd grown over tall. Once you get closer though, you see the muscles. He's lean and very fit, every muscle in his body is developed and honed to be deceptively powerful. He’s usually careful in his movements, not wanting to seem rash or hasty. Each movement belies power under a the tight control of will.
Personality:
G’lwein comes off to people during his daily interactions as sweet. He’s kind and generous. He loves kids and takes time out of his day to check on the candidates and see if they need any help with anything. His voice is gentle, on the deeper end of the tenor range. It tends to put people at ease around him, which he uses to his advantage. He works hard for the weyr, doing just about anything and everything that they ask of him, much to the dislike of his Gormyth.
Everything is not always as it seems. This is especially true of this brown rider.G’lwein’s nice side is just a cover. Sure he sometimes does help others for the pure pleasure of simple gratitude, but more often than not he has something to gain. When people trust you they talk. When people talk… you learn things. G’lwein’s manipulativeness feeds into his wingleader’s plans as a spy, but it usually is not for the good of the weyr. His dark side is cold, calculating and vicious.
It’s almost like a split personality with this one. In the light, he’s sweet, like your all American boy next door. In the shadows… he’s a killer. Guilty of more than one silent execution of his fellow riders and their partners at the orders of his wingleader, there are very few things this man won’t do. Few people see that side, but God help them if they do.
The people lucky enough to get close to him get a mixture of his personalities. They get the kind protective g'lwein, but he doesn't hide his darkness from them. He used to protect his weyr out of some screwed up Sense of duty. Since being accepted at trelis he has a new sense of home, and is loyal until it comes to the rebellion. He is supportive of the rebellion, appreciating their cause.
Family:
Brother: Gemnah of Bronze Meazarth 41 turns
Location: Southern to Trelis
Rank: Wingsecond /Weyrling Master
Wing/Pack:
History:
Gelwein was born in a small hold on the edge of the southern continent. His father was a woodcutter and his mother died in childbirth. His father wasn’t around much and his needs were cared for by his older brother Gemnah. 14 year old Gemnah was not one to raise a kind and gentle child. His bonded Dragon Maezarth treated the child as a pest and he bares scars from having crossed the slightly aggressive bronze during his younger years.
He showed no interest in anything other than dragons. His turn came at the age of 16 when he was searched by a young green rider. In his younger years before the search came, he was quiet and withdrawn. Listening to and absorbing everything, then using his knowledge to his advantage.
After becoming a candidate he learned a new way to gain information, and this one was infinitely more fun. He became ‘friends’ with a few of his fellow candidates, riders, and holders. It was easier to pass his time acting as they expected him to act and not causing problems until he was a weyrling. His good act worked. He made it to 19 still not showing off his inner self, and impressed a large brown named Gormyth. Then however… with gormyth able to see into his soul and urging him to accept and embrace that part of himself, he did.
Their wingleader as full riders, was a vicious man. His bronze was uncharacteristically hot tempered much like his older brother’s bronze. His fear of the wingleader began when he watched him stab one of his own riders to death over nothing at all besides ‘she flew too slow’. The wingleader had taken it upon himself to protect the weyr even from within. G’lwein fit right in.
Once his more covert talents were discovered, his wingleader unleashed terrors inside himself. He acted as a spy and assassin, able to get close to people before showing his true self and destroying them. All for the good of the weyr of course. He did this until Gold Loraketh flew at Southern.
He took his place as Jr. Weyrleader of Trelis, rejoicing in his freedom from Southern. Once the plan to steal the egg had been carried out, he backed out. He fought to return the egg and his efforts were not un noticed. Himself, his weyrmate Samara, and his friend J'degar were permitted to stay. He and J'degar found themselves in the position of Weyrling masters and Samara, Candidate master.
On the whole, he's been rather unflappable through the threadfall and the events that followed. In the Guise of helping to find the rebellion, he's systematically removed any threats to the group. He finds a certain approval for the group that is only enhanced by his mate's all but vocal support of them.
He's been sent out regularly on 'scouting missions' to find the Rebel base and Kill Noita, their leader. He's been able to fool the leaders of the anti rebellion movement into believing that the locations given to them were wrong so far. But how long will that last?

Gormyth is intelligent. He tends to see the quickest route to doing something and go for it. Not afraid to risk himself he’ll do anything to keep His from being killed or hurt, just as long as His isn’t enjoying one of his games. He encourages His to be himself to make it easier on him. He has mixed feelings about the role His plays, because at times, he genuinely enjoys being the nice guy, but then he REALLY enjoys the kill as well.
