A purple body twisted in the breeze, suddenly dropping toward the crystal waters only to rocket upwards again. The young amethyst didn't seem to mind how tiny she was, didn't mind she was perhaps the smallest dragon on Pern.
She gleefully wheeled in the baby blue sky, her deep violet hide contrasting with the bright color. Abyrath let out a roar of happiness, snorting a gigle of smoke as seagulls flew screaming from the sands.
Silly birds!
She thought, flying low toward the waves so the water splashed her hide. Her tail trailed in the water, leaving swirling currents in her wake.
But she grew bored of her solo flight. And she missed Hers's company. Ka'mond had sent her to the beach while he went to the Gather, so she could play. But what fun was it when you flew alone?
The presence of another dragon made her flight pause. Abyrath hovered above the water now, and peered around herself.
Who flies nearby?
Her voice had a hopeful, playful ring to it. Oh! How exciting it would be to play with another dragon! Other dragons mostly shunned little Abyrath, but maybe today things would change...

Flying still hurt despite the fact his wounds were on their way to being healed. Now, it was merely unused muscles complaining after a day of light training. He tipped to the side, angling down towards the cool waters of the beach. His rider had decided to hole up in his weyr for the day, grumbling and groaning about catching up on paperwork of some sort. Suffice to say, Syphraelth found no interest in sitting around on his ledge watching the other dragons fly around.
He groaned as a beat of his wings sent a sting of pain shooting through him; he couldn't stay in the air for much longer without causing harm. At least, thats what J'degar was telling him over their mind link. Before long, a playful voice reached him and, curious, Syphraelth decided there was as good a place as any to touch down.
He skimmed the water for a moment before splashing into the deeper waters, unable to properly backwing for landing just yet. Ahhh so refreshing. He spoke out loud no no one in particular before turning to see who it was that had called to him. Oh, a little amethyst! She was quite small, perhaps a hatchling? Abyrath is her name. From the obsidian's clutch. His rider's voice was strong and stern in his mind as he relayed the information in response to the image the brown had sent.
Ah, greetings young Abyrath. A fine day for relaxing, is it not? He settled into the water, content to simply stay where he was for the next few hours.

Abyrath quaked with excitment, and she fanned her wings quickly. Oh! This brown was friendly! She watched him fly, and noted quite quickly that his wing pained him. However, that thought was only dominant in her mind a second, as she forgot all about it once the male settled in the water.
Tilting her head in a curious display, she let herself sink into the cool water. She was twice if not thrice as small as he was, but it didn't bother her. Clumsily, Abyrath 'doggy' paddled toward Saphraelth, craning her neck and kicking her legs. Her tail snaked behind her, and twitched alittle to guide her.
Yes! Quite pretty!
Abyrath chimed, clearly excited. She struggled to recall the brown's name, and she lacked connection with Ka'mond. Or atleast she didn't try. Hers needed to relax and have fun as well, not play a name game with her.
The amethyst continued paddling, quickly figuring out how to stroke the water with her paws to move in a somewhat more graceful fashion, however she still looked quite odd. Like a large purple retriever with wings.
I don't recall you or your bonded...
Abyrath ducked her head sheepishly. She felt like this mistake would come back to bite her, but when you are a amethyst with such a short attention span names are not the most important. Or atleast they aren't remembered easily..
Her eyes held shades of green and blue, and she was simplely happy. Today was better than she had thought, and it had only just begun!

Syphraelth watched the young Amethyst approach, worry whirling in his eyes as she swam out to him. He was rather deep and she was so small; the teacher in him worried for her safety. He moved closer, moving his tail under her as she drew closer, ready to act as a last minute support if it was needed.
I am called Syphraelth, little one. I look to J'degar. The older dragon knew how finicky an amethyst's mind could be, so it came as no surprise that his name wasn't known. Besides, His had not yet taught this dragoness' class, so they had never formally met before. Are you working hard in your lessons?

Abyrath wondered at the Brown's protectiveness and would have objected if she had not understood his intentions. Swimming was tiring, but Ka'mond had been working her hard. They had practiced with weights in the river to build her strength as well.
She was relieved that Syphraelth was so easy-going. If a dragon could smile Abyrath would be beaming.
L-lessons...?
Abyrath felt herself tense and her mind race. Lessons? Had Ka'mond missed an announcement? Had they missed a class?! Her eyes suddenly whirled yellow and she felt her paws paddle unsteadily. Her sides rose quicker in her panic.
Are we too late? We've practiced flying with weight. I've even swam in the river with sand bags... Oh shells! Oh...
The poor amethyst let out a whimper and sighed. Oh drat this forgetfulness! This wasn't her first mistake.. was it?
