Iirla woke slowly... Her body felt like it was thrumming and she hurt a little bit... Why... She could not quite remember... but the warm body beside her only encouraged her to let sleep come back to her... But... the feelings that suddenly arose inside her and the visions of blood made her shiver and clasp herself... It wasn't human blood... she knew that... but... Oh Faranth... She remembered... It was the flight... It was bloody.... a dragon had died... but. Who had won? It didn't take her long to figure out... She could feel a spot on her neck that felt like it was burning. She knew. It had been Thormyth. And Vl'kan. She turned over to look at him... Vl'kan. Her Vl'kan.
Good evening, Mine... The dragoness said sleepily, yawning. She laid her head back down beside her mates, rather pleased with herself and with her mate. She didn't try to wake him. He deserved his rest... and she wanted more rest.
Iirla smiled softly. Good morning, my love.... It's good to see you are back to your old self.
Izanycorth snorted softly. Where did the old self ever go, Mine...? As if she didn't remember how mean and nasty and simply vile she ahd been while approaching her fliht. Iirla was surprised the Weyr was still standing! Faranth! If Izanycorth had taken more interest in plotting with her now mate... well! It wouldn't!
Iirla sighed and gently pressed a kiss to Vl'kan's cheek, pressing against him and closing her eyes as if to go back to sleep... Faranth... She loved him. She just needed to actually admit it... and not be afraid. She was drifting again quite shortly, even with nagging worries and guilt tugging at her mind... attempting to pull her to wakefulness...

Vl’kan mumbled incoherently in his sleep and shifted from his side to his stomach. Shards he was sore and hot…really hot. Grumbling, and still trying to ward off consciousness, he kicked at the furs in an attempt to untangle them from his legs but he was slowly becoming aware of the fact that there was another warm body sharing this bed and pressed against his side. Slowly the events of the early morning began to replay through his mind and the images were bloody to say the least.
Groaning softly, the garnet rider massaged his temple and slowly opened his eyes. Well he definitely wasn’t in his weyr but whose was it? Blinking in the dark, Vl’kan propped himself up on his elbows and glanced over to the warm body to his left and smiled sleepily when he saw who it was. Her eyes were closed though and Vl’kan believed her to still be asleep so not wishing to wake her he moved slowly and quietly. Sliding out of bed he located and pulled on his boxers before moving into the bathing room and splashing water on his face. Did you survive the festivities?
The Garnet King rumbled, stiff, sore, and wounded himself but still kept his eyes shut, not yet desiring to open them and wake fully just yet. And then some, as if it were any contest. Did you honestly expect any less Vl’kanMine? I also expect to be cleaned and oiled when I get up. Vl’kan shook his head, stifling a yawn before ruffling his hair, idly wondering if the kitchens would still have hot leftovers from dinner.

Why must they wake so early, My Dark King...? Izanycorth asked him, a bit of irritation in her voice. she was tired. And this waking was not something she wanted to do yet. She gave a huff and cracked one eye open a bit. She was not grievously hurt. But she was rather well covered in a layer of ichor and blood from the animals she had killed. It felt disgusting to wear such a layer for so long. Hers best be ready to clean her when it was time to awaken... Whenever that time came. Izanycorth rather hoped she could rest here with her mate for some time more.
Iirla sat up slowly. She had fallen back asleep and more time had passed. It was well beyond time for dinner now. She sighed and placed a hand in the warm spot beside her... Where had Vl'kan gone? She supposed he was probably nearby... He had been ehr mate before hte flight so she saw no reason why he would leave her now. She rose slowly, holding the blanket against her chest and walking to drawer to rummage through a drawer and find a simple tunic which she slipped on over her head and let fall loosely to about thigh length. She turned toward the shaft, wondering if perhaps a tray could be sent up to them... Or perhaps they could still make it for dinner... Whatever the case... she did feel the need to clean up a little... And so she headed for the bathing room, a soft smile taking her features as she spotted him tehre. "Good morning, Weyrleader..." she said softly, coming up behind him, her hands clasped behind her back as she smiled at him.
He had told her he was no leader... but she was sure he could be... and now... he really didn't have a choice. he'd have to be.

The garnet rumbled, his lip curling back slightly. Mine doesn't sleep very easy or very long. Thormyth grunted as he finally gave in and opened his red streaked eyes and stretched.
Vl'kan splashed the water against his face and rubbed the back of his neck. He may have just woken up but for some reason he still felt so tired, so worn out. Splashing his face once more, he ruffled his hair and closed his eyes briefly while he leaned against the basin. He didn't hear her get up so naturally he didn't hear her as she walked in behind him till she spoke up, causing him to jump slightly. Weyrleader. He repeated to himself, scowling inwardly at the title. He never wanted this! But Iirla... He needed Thor to win so they could finally be together without any annoying intrusions, the leader bit well...that was just something he would have to grow into.
Vl'kan finally turned around and dragged a hand down his face to wipe away the rest of the water. "Mornin'," he replied with a tired smile. "How are you feeling? I ah...I didn't hurt you, did I?" The garnetrider ducked his head sheepishly and scratched at his jaw. That was the first flight Thormyth had participated in and the first time Vl'kan had lost all control and had been under the full raw power of his violent dragon. Truth be told he would be surprised if there weren't more reports of serious injuries.

Izanycorth sighed and gave a bit of a huff. I suppose it is better than Mine who could sleep all day sometimes. The gold lifted her head, her eyes whirling a mixture of colors from red and orange to green and blue. Thormyth brought about her aggression... and a need for either complete dominance and acceptance as a queen... or escape in some form... which she had achieved to some degree in having her garnet king - proving she was better than those queens caught by bronze and brown. Her king was one of blood and violence.
Iirla watched him, her brown eyes taking him in, something soft and gentle in her gaze as she looked at him, watched his every move. It was almost as if her eyes caressed him... his skin, his form.
A slight shadow passed her face as he asked if he had hurt her. She bore a few marks, yes... but... most of them would fade, at least. But she didn't let it show. "I'm alright," she said softly and walked up to him, her hands gently resting on his chest and shoulder as she looked up at him.
She smiled softly, then a darker shadow crossed her face... She sighed and placed her forehead against his chest. "I can still remember him falling, Vl'kan..." she said very softly....

The garnet rumbled before stretching, flexing and dragging his claws across the stone floor as he arched his back. It was clear he wasn't going to be gaining anymore blissful sleep, so he might as well give in to the urge to wake and rise. I assumed that is what happens when one is heavy with young. Thormyth growled as he dragged him to the mouth of the cave and exposing himself to the cool, refreshing chill of the night air. He needed, no desired, to be cleaned and oiled. He tilted his head and looked off in the direction he knew the river to be, contemplating dragging His out with him for a more thorough job.
Vl'kan smiled lightly when she finally responded. "Good, I'm glad." As she moved closer he allowed his arms to slip around her waist and leaned in to steal a brief kiss. Her next words, however, caused him to falter and hesitate. All at once he was reminded of the screams. The screams of a falling dragon, torn to shreds in a flight, slowly fading and turning into the wretched cries of a distraught and heartbroken man. That man had walked into that room a rider but he had left dragonless.
The Istan swallowed and moved to ruffle his bed tussled hair. The action reminded him of the still throbbing pain in his arms and chest, the injuries his companion received during the mornings bloody flight. "I remember it too," he spoke up at last. "But it wasn't anyones fault. Flights have been known to get dangerous.

Izanycorth gave what could be described as a draconic moan. I hope that won't happen to me... she seemed to say with real irritation. She looked towards where they were and then watched her king move. I could never tire of watching you move, my king.... she crooned to him appreciatively, watching every ripple of his muscles. It was enjoyable...
She kissed him back, her eyes closing briefly. She wrapped her arms around him and gently melted against him, shivering slightly. She closed her eyes and leaned against his shoulder.
"I feel so guilty about the death, Vl'kan..." she said softly, resting her forehead against his neck as she spoke. She gently grabbed hold of one of his hands, a smile suddenly transforming her features and put his hand on her stomach. "Can you feel that... wait just a minute...." The baby kicked then in roughly the place she had put her hand.
She looked up at him, a real softness to her features. This child was important to her. Extremely important. So very, very important. And it was Vl'kan's child as well. Oh Faranth... she hoped she was born healthy....

That makes two of us. Thormyth parted his jaws in a massive growl of a yawn before dragging his tongue across his fangs. At her comment he straightened a little, obviously pleased with her statement even if it was blatantly obvious. He was the finest garnet to ever grace the hatching sands. Come my Queen, to the river to clean the grime of these underlings off our hides. With a roar, Thormyth spread his wings and launched himself into the crisp night air.
Vl'kan sighed softly, content as she leaned into him and his kiss. For now just happy to enjoy this quiet moment alone with her. They stood there, silent for a few moments, until she took hold of his hand, causing him to glance down at her with a bit of uncertainty. "Wha- Oh..." All at once his expression changed from confusion, to shock, to joy as he felt the little kick from his unborn child, their unborn child. He smiled, genuine and true, as his hand brushed across the fabric, waiting to see if another kick would be aimed his way.

Izanycorth stood and stretched, feeling the gross feelings of drying ichor on her hide. Yes.... that sounds wonderful, my king... It is quite disgusting to Weyr their... ichor for so long. She growled slightly, her disgust obvious and tangible at the feeling of the ichor still clinging to her golden hide. THe river sounded more than simply wonderful at this point.
She watched him, crooning in pleasure. I could watch you fly for hours... Her eyes swirled colors of contentment as she watched him for a long moment before taking off after him.
Iirla hardly noticed the dragons, instead, grinning at Vl'kan, her eyes shining as she watched her face... She felt another kick that he w as sure he would feel and smiled again. "Can you feel her...?" she asked, though the answer was obvious. The baby was moving more this evening than normal. Perhaps the young one had decided it was time for her to eat... She was craving something sweet as it was... Though she didn't think that it would be entirely good for her just ot eat sweets... she should see about trying to get something good to eat... some food or something...
She gently brushed her fingers over his chin. "I love it when you smile like this..." she grinned again. She was so happy that he seemed so excited about the child. She was so happy to be able to see him smile this way and seem to enjoy their child.

It took him little to no time at all to reach the banks of the river. He kept an open mind for her brief complements about his frame or hide, or about his clear superiority in general, and gave a pleased rumbled in response. The attention was his, as it always should have been. Thormyth flew a lazy circle around the river before coming into land on the soft and soggy shore. With a tilt of his head he looked up and spotted her shadowy frame against the black sky.
That would be the turns of constant training and practice. Padding into the water, the garnet headed for deeper water till he was able to duck completely under the surface, only to reappear moments later. Flying I think may have to wait a half day or so.He hissed lowly as he stretched sore and strained wings over the surface of the water. He was stiff, sore, and tired. Really he could sleep for the next week after the mornings interesting flight. As much as I enjoy pain and suffering our morning bloodbath has successfully drained me.
Vl'kan chuckled as he felt the next kick. There was a life in there! Not just any old life though, no. This was something he helped create. It was as much a part of him as it was her and he was sure as hell not going to turn into the man his father was.
His father... His prior smile wavered and was soon replaced by a frown and his gaze fell to the floor. The vile man had caused him so much pain and suffering throughout his life and had the nerve to call himself his father. Ever since Vl'kan had found out he was going to be a father, nightmares from his youth had plagued his dreams day in and day out. His greatest fear now was turning into the man his father was and hurting his little family.
With a low sigh the Istan stepped back and walked a few paces away, running a frustrated hand through his hair and rubbing the back of his neck. Of course she knew bits and pieces of his past and his life at Ista before he Impressed Thormyth and moved to Trelis but did she know it all? Stopping in his tracks, Vl'kan turned around and met her gaze. "I don't want to hurt you or the baby."

Iirla blinked in surprise. "You won't hurt us, Vl'kan... if anyone is going to end up hurting anyone, it seems more likely that Id' be the one to hurt you.... what with how many times I have done it before." She walked after him, reaching out to grab a hold of him. "Vl'kan... Just a moment ago... you were so happy... Is this about your father...? I... I don't know everything, but Vl'kan... you won't hurt me.... you won't hurt our baby.... you aren't him..." She was suddenly worried and scared... What if... something happened. What if he left them...? This was hsi family too. They were a family. And yet neither of them had a basis on which to actually... build that word... the idea... She had been sold into slavery... his dad wasn't.. a dad at all. Faranth.
She didn't want him to leave her standing here. She wanted him to stay. The idea of him leaving made her heart wrench. She loved him. She knew she did. But she was just a failure when it came to staying wiht him and loving him the way he deserved. What kind of family would they be...?
They had no basis to build on...
Izanycorth landed near the bank and stretched her wings, hissing slightly at the pain. Your training truly paid off, my beloved dark king... she gave an appreciative croon as she let her eyes trail over his wings as they stretched. Yes... he was going to father a powerful clutch. A truly powerful clutch. She croon and hissed at once. It was the most magnificent flight a queen could ask for... She was pleased with it. I hope it will be remembered for a long time to come... She gave a slight hiss and walked into the water slowly, heading deeper until she could submerge herself, feeling the ichor and blood start to wash away. We shall both need to be cleaned and washed I think... Hmph. Mine will have to have others help her. She cannot do as well as she did now that she carries her young. Izanycorth gave a slight hiss. She didn't like it when others did a job that she only trusted to hers...

Vl'kan had fallen into a deep train of thought so he hadn't heard her as she approached from behind. He jumped slightly, lost in his thoughts, and for a moment his arm tensed as if to pull away before he relaxed, shoulders dropping, as he let out the breath he had subconsciously been holding. There it was, she got it in one. Farnath, could she read his mind? "I just..." He paused with a frustrated sigh and ran a swift hand through his hair. "I just want everything to be perfect..."
No sooner had the words left his mouth though was he shaking his head and staring down at the floor with a look of mild disbelief even at his own words. Perfection was a myth in itself, especially when it came to his life. Easy and smooth sailing was just never in his cards. "How do you know? How can you be so sure that I...that I won't?"
Thormyth eyed her frame as she came into land and eventually moved into the river. Couldn't you always order those pesky little creatures they keep around as pets to help if it is needed? He slithered through the dark water, trying to stay as wet as possible in the hopes of washing away the grime without the aid of His. I could possibly consider lending you my Own to assist. That is if Yours doesn't command it of him anyways. He growled lowly at the thought, not pleased at all how His was so easily ordered by another.

"Oh Vl'kan.... you know that perfect is hard to achieve..." She gently reached out and touched his face, carressing the side of it and looking at him with a searching expression. She pressed into him, arms wrapping around him tightly. She gently placed her forehead against him, her hands gently running over him.
She gently put her hands on either side of his face and looked up at him seriously, just looking for a long time. "Because, Vl'kan... I know you. You are wonderful, amazing... loving to me... But I am the one that hurts you again and again because I... am just a fool... And I'll always trust you... If you hurt me... I will still trust you." She gently pulled his hand down to her stomach again. "We both love you and trust you now, Vl'kan... this child is you as much as it is me..." She grabbed his hand and held it to her face. "You have always been gentle towards me, Vl'kan... no matter what I have done...."
Certainly... It is easy enough... she stretched her wings, and not long after, Iirla's three flitters were popping out of between above them, not making a sound, though at least two of them were not happy. Quiet and get to work, little ones... or I will let my mate here eat you for a quick snack... Of course, the threat was not necessary. Izanycorth chortled in amusement. Mine would sooner order that the Candidates clean me than yours. She would prefer he be more demanding of her... but he lets her do whatever she pleases. It bothers her. She wants him to take some authority... but she does not wish to tell him that. Izanycorth snorted and ducked her head under water for a moment before coming back up to be scrubbed by Ama while the two blues went to work on her mate.

"I don't care," he replied quickly as his green eyes lifted to meet hers. "Not for me. My life's always been a wreck, I'm not sure it's supposed to go right. But for her..." Vl'kan smiled softly and looked down at her stomach as he allowed her to bring his hand back to the bump. "For her I want to give her the world." He grinned almost sheepishly and rubbed the back of his neck. "I haven't even met her yet and already I want to make sure she has everything she could ever want or need." Vl'kan sighed and scratched at the stubble along his chin. "I'm even ready to let Thor eat anyone who tries hurting her."
His face fell slightly, a sadness clouding his gaze as she brought his hand up and cupped her cheek. "It's because I love you, I've always loved you." Smiling softly he leaned in and stole a brief and gentle kiss.
Thormyth growled lowly as the two lizards popped in from between and skirted to his side, obviously at the command of his Queen, to aid in cleaning his hide. I despise these little nuisances, though I suppose they have their uses. The garnet stretched and lifted a wing to allow the flits to scrub his hide. He will be, I assure you. The boy can only take so much from the sidelines before it gets to be too much. He'll take charge if I have to force him.

Iirla looked at him searchingly. "Vl'kan... life is hard..." She couldn't really say a whole lot. She smiled. "She's going to have a good daddy, I think..." She kissed his palm gently. Iirla couldn't help her smile as he spoke to her. "I'm sure Thor would like that job... and I must say... I don't think I'd mind one bit if he did eat anyone who tried to hurt her..." She smiled at him... This baby was the source of every ounce of happiness she could ever feel at this time. She subconsciously put a hand on her stomach.
"You're too good to me... more than I deserve, Vl'kan..." She kissed him in return, gentle and brief. Nothing could ever compare to those gentle kisses he gave her... But it was his gentleness that made him feel even less deserving... She leaned against him again. "We aren't going to have our quiet moments together for that much longer... Not when she is born. I don't want her raised in the creche, Vl'kan..." She was so gentle.
The are excellent when trained to help clean ones hide... excellent help. Izanycorth crooned softly and reached out her muzzle to her mate, tongue slipping out to lick a spot of blood from his hide. You are most glorious in battle. A warrior to the core. she hummed softly. She turned serious again, though, in a moment. He best take charge and soon... There will be trouble otherwise.
