Oh the silent brown finally spoke, and it was with such heart-stopping words! Kayath crooned warmly at Kaith as she swerved through the sky. Each twist of her form was a silent call for her chasers to draw closer. Cozyrith though, he got a cold snuff. Of COURSE her actions were splendid! Well aren’t you just the wisest of all my males Cozyrith. She replied with a hiss, swerving to slap the water with her tail before rising back up. Oh now THERE was a new male! He was old though… Kayath was a princess! She deserved someone young and strong, so this new brown would really need to strut his stuff if he wanted her attention. Soon, the need to get as high as possible was beginning to overwhelm her and she couldn’t resist the urge to follow her instincts.
Come my loves! Draw close! I want to feel your warmth around me as your words make my heart flutter! She twisted, offering a croon here and a happy rumble there. Each male receiving a strong feeling of lust. In truth, Kayath didn’t know what she wanted from her males no more than she knew what she wanted from herself. Was it sweet words and soft caresses? Or perhaps it was the strong, protective silent type that would send her heart soaring. The dragoness groaned in frustration and annoyance, rising higher still as the pace increased. I want something new! Something exciting! Someone, anyone, steal my heart away!
With a sway of his hips that was much more feminine than J’dol would normally use, the young rider wove through the gathered riders, paying little attention to anyone who didn’t give him the attention he craved.
“Come now, why should they have all the fun?” He spoke in a sing song voice as he wrapped his arms around G’daro from behind momentarily before moving along to trail fingers along S’val’s arm. Samara and the latecomer, Es’ra, both received a kiss on the cheek as he passed, a wordless song escaping him each time Kayath crooned to her chasers.

Yes Wraith was an older male, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t strong, oh no. He has had seven turns to build up his strength, and had flown many females. None of them as important as Kayath though. Fly my Queen, I might be older but that just means I have more experience pleasing beauties, but none as beautiful as you. His words were a seductive per, and the brown roared as loudly and as deeply as possible as he spoke to the topaz. He beat the sky with his wings as he rose higher into the sky chasing after Kayath. He flew close to her claws, but was far enough below the topaz queen that she had plenty of room to maneuver as she pleased. He hoped his actions would show her that, even though he wanted to win her flight, he still respected her as being a greater entity than himself.
Oh my Queen, but how can I steal your heart when you have already stolen mine? His voice was a soft, singing purr that he hoped would help his case in Kayath’s eyes. But he knew that females could be very fickle, and so he didn’t keep his hopes up. But there was no quelling the lust that echoed in everything he said, and every movement he made while he flew below Kayath, waiting for her to pick her winner. Es’ra hadn’t put up much of a fight when his senses had started being taken over by the flightlust of his dragon. And now there was little of him left, but he kept catching glimpses of the humans around, but he felt the lightning bolts that raced through his body when J’dol kissed his cheek. His breathing quickened slightly, and if he had been able to, he would have cursed himself for his body’s reaction.

Amiith hissed at the other males. My mistress, my beauty, my everything! Let them not be such fools to you! Allow me to chase you to the break of dawn, the edge of Pern itself! For you are the grace which fills all the wings of Pern. You are the giver and the taker of the breath of your chasers! fliy high and hard dearest Queen. Your Amiith, for I am truly yours, shall chase you until the end. Until his wings fall in broken shambles or you chase me from your skies! my princess, my queen, my dearest, greatest beauty. Let us praise you with wing beat and song!He could sense the end of the flight drawing closer and closer... he crooned. Faranth... the beauty new how to keep them flying. She knew and yet this was her first flight. He would fly harder and faster and stronger. He stretched his wings further and gave a strong downbeat. Beauty more glorious than the sun! Kayath, princess, most deserving! I shall fly my best for you!Amiith hissed at any male that came close. He would be the one to reach her. Her would be the one to catch her. He crooned and sang and performed his best... but he would not allow himself to focus too much on the trappings. You deserve the best of us all! And who better to judge who is best but Kayath herself! The best of dragonesses! The best of queens! He fell into a wordless song then that wove and moved through the air as if he sang his very soul for her. For her and her alone. He sang of her beauty. he sang of her strength. He sang of her as the sheer glory she was... he had no more words that could do her justice... She was beyond words... Beyond words indeed. She would, instead... be given the best of him. Samara nearly crooned with her dragon as his song rose and fell and gave the softest moan as J'dol kissed her cheek. She watched him with wanting eyes, barely keeping her hands from following her eyes as he moved on past her. She turned, her eyes never leaving him, running over his body, his every move. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Oh Kayath! Wonder of wonders! Beauty of beauties! Queen of the skies, Queen of Pern! Queen of mine heart! You have captured my heart and I shall dare to try to capture yours! Queen of Queens and Princess of all Pern... I shall follow you until the end or until my wings fall still. The older blue, though experienced, did not have the stamina of the Browns or Bronzes who chased.... he was at an advantage over a Bronze, but a Brown... a brown was a good choice for this queen. But he would prove he was a better choice. HE would prove that he was the best choice for her... J'mol gave a low growl, feeling a dismay in his flightlust. He would not touch his son. He could not. He backed away, bumping into Ara and looking at her wantingly. He didn't recognize her... But he had to keep himself from J'dol... *~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Umeith hissed. His wings ached and he was not happy. He would not stop though. He could not stop. Not yet. He hissed and shook his head again. He was tiring. He was young, inexperienced and lacked the stamina to continue in such a long flight for much longer... but continue on he did... He was frustrated. He was falling back. He crooned and sang, but what did it matter.... he didn't have a chance.. not anymore... R'vin felt his dragon's anguish... as well as his flight lust. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Izanycorth gave a croon that was mixed with a hiss. Maerath, MineLove... You shall apologize later. Fly your best. I expect nothing less! she was not happy. Her angry snap was all that she gave him. His crooning wouldn't make it up to her. He would have to come to her later. After the flight. When Kayath's hold did not have him any longer. She hissed again, lashing her tail. Enjoy your catch Mine...Stupid dragon! You know-!She was cut off as she felt arms wrappingaround her and she blinked in surprise. Oh Faranth... Her breath caught and she looked up into the eyes of a decidedly flight lusting S'bel. Oh Faranth... Where was Vl'kan when she needed him most.. "S-s'bel," she said nervously, stuttering. Her headache of a dragon was going to pay for this mess... on the other end she could feel Izanycorth's annoyance and current anger. Her dragoness was no help... but what could she do anyways from so far away? Iirla shivered as S'bel looked at her... the way he spoke. Oh Faranth.... She felt weak in the knees and found herself leaning against him, thoug she did her best to support herself, she soon found her head on S'bel's chest. Oh Faranth... "What flight, S'bel..." She knew... he ocud only ean one thing... and that was... his flight was for her. For her... she knew that he still had feelings for her. That his love for her had been... much stronger and much mroe real than anything that she had had for him or for D'rian... She felt a pang in her gut... and yet... she... also felt something else. Faranth. She was not going to do this. She was not going to hurt Vl'kan like this. she was not going to just give in. Not when Vl'kan could be hurt... not when it would be betraying him.

Banemith felt the topaz's words fill his heart with lust and determination. Oh, Kayath, my love, my princess! he crooned Your words pull to my heart. You are more stunning, more intelligent than any queen on Pern itself! You are the life of me! Your Banemith! I will fly my hardest, for I am your savior, your Prince Charming!
He hissed at the new contender approaching. He did not need this! So, he flapped his wings and approached the topaz with caution. He then dove under her and faced her. My Kayath! You are more graceful than a morning sunrise! More powerful than a sunset! You took my breath away, and I will take yours! he sang to her. He dropped back and followed right behind her.
G'daro shuddered as his dragon's words entered his mind. He wanted him to win, but with other males around, he might not stand a chance. He gasped in surprise as the topaz's rider wrapped his arms around him. "Well aren't you the flirty one today?" he told him. Then as quickly as it came, it left.

Kaith's words seemed to please the orange dragoness, which made him swell with pride. Your beauty is unmatched by any other topaz, nor green or amethyst, my queen. Even the golden queen pales next to you, he crooned. It was true, as far as the brown was concerned, although there was only the one gold at Trelis.
He pumped his wings harder, getting closer to the female. This was hardly his first flight, not even the first he'd won, and he was determined to catch this dragoness as well. He growled jealously as another brown entered the flight and then, with some difficulty, turned his attention away from his competitors and back to Kayath herself.
Down on the ground, R'hard was completely caught up in Kaith's passion now, eyes locked on J'dol. All thought of Aela was forgotten, so at least one part of Kaith's plan had apparently been a success.

Kayath crooned to her chasers. Maerath burst through a spot of clouds, his wings straining with every beat to pull himself ahead, catch the Topaz's attention. Need drove him, though his heart still yearned for Izanycorth.
I want something new! Something exciting! Someone, anyone, steal my heart away! Kayath called. Maerath roared.
Maerath, MineLove... You shall apologize later. Fly your best. I expect nothing less!
And so he did. He pumped his wings harder, the muscley sinews contracting and moving under his hide to thrust him forward. He roared again. He was not a dragon of many words anyway, and he did not feel like offering sweet words and promising his heart to Kayath when it already belonged to someone else.
S'bel grinned as Iirla leaned against him, her head on his chest. She asked what flight, but she knew. He knew she did, and so he didn't validate her question with an answer. His flight was for her. It always had been, and always would be. Even if she was with that stupid Istan rider, Vl'kan.
"Look at me..." He whispered, tilting her head up. He searched her eyes briefly with his stormy blue ones, still clouded with flight-lust, and then kissed her gently, just like he had always wanted to.

Izanycorth gave the softest croon mixed with a hiss. That was right. Her males were hers... but they would always fly there best... And this one was especially special. Her special bronze. She wasn't particularly into bronzes... but this one had captured her attention some time ago... and kept it much better than any other.
Iirla looked at him. Hi intensity took her breath away, her mouth opening ever so slightly in a silent gasp. "S'bel... you know..." she didn't finish. He was going to kiss her. She felt her eyes close. Faranth. Then he kissed her and, for a moment she stood there with wide eyes... but he couldn't resist for long. She parted her lips to kiss him back, silently begging him to take her tongue between his teeth. Her fingers closed around the cloth of his shirt then slowly glided up his shoulders to his neck.
The kiss in his room that night came flooding back to her memory. Her eyes closed but in her minds eye... the picture of that day... or rather the feeling... It stirred something in her. She should think about her child. She should think about Vl'kan... who she was betraying even by simply returning this kiss. She knew she should think of him... of the child growing in her body now... the one that belonged as much to Vl'kan as to her...
But Faranth... She wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing herself ever closer.

He could do nothing more than fly for her. There was no more time for words other than the primal sound of the growl and wing beats Coziryth was unable to push back. This was his dragoness, and he would hurt anyone who thought otherwise, however it was not his choice to make. It was hers, but she would choose him, the male was certain of it. Following her as closely as ever, yet still able to give her the room she deserved the bronze took toward the thermals, hoping to catch them in time to swing past her and drop on the flying Topaz. Surely she could not go forever, and luck had often been on his side.
On the ground S'vrin observed the other chasers with a distinct apathy other than the fact that they were wanting his prize. Oh yes, in his mind so swayed by his dragon this was already won. A knowing smirk played over his features as he watched J'dol give attention to the other riders, and he allowed it without any sort of action from himself. Let the boy have his fun, the real thing was nearby if he wanted it.
She needed to turn back, J'dol was far gone and seemed to be taking care of himself splendidly. She would just need to turn back. Holding an arm to herself, the greenrider was about to do such a thing when the backlash of the mating flight finally reached her, really reached her. Ara licked her lips in anticipation, watching the riders move around her lover an envious glint in her eyes. However someone stumbling into her quickly tore her attention away and she grabbed onto the older man with hardly any thought to whom it might be. "I suppose you'll do since he seems to be fine by himself." The words were a low purr in J'mol's ears as the young woman pulled the bluerider further into the forest, away from the others.

Solarith uttered a warning growl as a brown swerved too close before he twisted to the right and barreled after Kayath's fleeting form. He wanted her for his own. No, he needed her to be his and his alone. The bronze roared and pumped his wings harder. His chest heaved with the flights exertion and his lungs burned but he was still far from giving in. Surely she couldn't keep this pace up for much longer, she was bound to fall and into his waiting grasp.
The time for sweet words had long passed and now it was going to be a fight to the finish. The strongest would be chosen and Solarith only hoped he had flown hard enough to catch the lovely young topaz's eye.
S'val couldn't suppress the shiver that snaked its way up his spine as J'dol ran his fingers across his arm. A low growl slipped past clenched teeth and the bronzerider had to refrain from pulling the other rider back to his side as he moved to taunt and tease the rest of those gathered. The jealously bubbled within and the partially blind man clenched his hands at his side, watching with hunger and lust filled eyes as the the flash of orange that was J'dol easily wove through the crowd of blue, brown, and bronze. Kayath snorted, her wings beating strongly despite the fatigue that was slowly spreading through her. Her time was almost at an end it seemed, though Kayath only knew she wanted to fly higher and farther. The call to return home was also growing strong and Kayath banked as she rose, turning back towards the safety of land. Higher, higher still she rose, as the sun began to dip below the horizon.
Her chasers had done their part, she liked some, disliked others, but could she choose? She didn't want to.. she didn't want the flattery to end. Never before had she felt so beloved by her underlings, so wanted by her fellow dragons. It was thrilling. She roared her happiness, wanting her chasers to know how pleased she was with each and every one of them, regardless of whether they showed their love through flowery words or actions alone. She spread her wings wide to glide as she reached the height of her climb, chancing a glance back at her potential mates. Each one had drawn her attention in one way or another, but she knew she would have to pick soon; the remaining males were all drawing so close now and if she didn't choose soon she didn't doubt one would try to claim her.
She crooned at Vaarinth, pleased to see the blue had lasted so long. Umeith, too, had impressed her, though she could see him falling behind. A blue would be a fine, loving mate, to be sure, but something drew her away from them. A blue was not to be her prince tonight. No... she needed someone strong, someone to protect her! J'dol could feel the lust of his dragon as she judged her blue followers. J'dol trailed his hands along R'vin now, planting a ghost of a kiss on the man's cheek before shoving him out of the circle and turning towards his others as Kayath turned her attentions away from her blues.
A bronze then? Coziryth was strong, surely. He was doing well, but there was something about him... a cockiness, that she just couldn't stand. She hissed at him to get away, even going so far as to take a swipe at him with her claw. That was the problem with bronzes! They thought the colour of their hides made them instantly worthy of a queen's love. The very idea angered the topaz and she roared at them all, her anger beyond words. Like with R'vin, J'dol danced around the bronze coloured riders giving them attention and dismissing them as Kayath did the same in the air. As Coziryth was attacked with claw, J'dol stole kisses from S'vrin. A nibble to S'val's neck as Solarith received a slap of a tail. He moved quickly, never staying near any one rider for long.
It was a brown that would win her attention, of this she knew now. Or perhaps she had always known. Who to pick? The sweet Banemith with his constant compliments? The quiet Kaith with his moments of charm? Experienced Amiith who understood her perfection? Kayath was fond of the compliments of her chasers, they had all given her what she wanted. She wanted to croon and caress each of them... but as the flight drew closer to its end she didn't doubt one would try to catch her before she was ready. J'dol had no such reservations. He was quick to caress and kiss each of the brownriders. One drew his attention more than the others - a blue eyed youth, and J'dol couldn't stop himself from wrapping his arms around the young man.
Kayath tucked her wings and dropped back towards the pack of chasers, knowing now who she would pick. She loved his silence, loved the way his words, few as they were, said more than what all her other chasers had said combined. She knew he would catch her, her bulky brown Kaith. I claim you Kaith! Tonight you are mine and mine alone! She dropped to him, quickly moving to twine around the spotted brown as J'dol moved to kiss R'hard, not caring that they were in sight of so many people. They would leave in time. For now, He had eyes only for his winner.

Kaith could tell the topaz was beginning to slow; he was tiring as well, and it was clear the flight was coming to its end very quickly. He pushed forward, unwilling to be left behind. Each time Kayath responded to her other suitors, Kaith's eyes whirled with jealousy, though he watched with approval when the orange dragoness clawed Coziryth.
Finally, Kayath turned her considering gaze to Kaith and his fellow browns, and he surged toward her with his dwindling strength, hoping his flowery words had won her over. KayathMyQueen, he rumbled, Have you chosen? Evidently she had, for she tucked in her wings and dropped suddenly down among her chasers. Kaith crooned happily as he caught her and they began to twine together.
R'hard distantly felt a pair of arms wrap around him, and he met J'dol's gaze with a lazy smile. He didn't really remember much of what happened after that, but he didn't particularly mind.

The croon that had been building in the bronzes throat quickly turned to a growl and then a snarl as Kayath toyed with him one last time before snapping her tail in his direction. Solarith snarled and attempted to swerve out of the line of fire but he moved too late and the tip of the topaz's tail slapped hard against his neck, leaving a meager cut in its wake.
Eyes burning a fiery red Solarith watched angrily as Kayath dove from his side and into the waiting grasp of a brown. A brown was chosen over him!? Another roar tore from his throat but this one held a lighter, sadder tone towards the end as he twisted through the air to head back to the Weyr. He had been defeated and humiliated, now there was only time for rest.
S'val felt his dragons rage as the glittering orange blur chose a brown contender and raised a hand to his own neck, already feeling the sting from Kayath's heart bruising blow. Clenching his jaw, the blind rider forced himself to turn from the sight of J'dol and his chosen winner. There was no place left for him here. Turning his back on the rest of those gathered, S'val pushed his way through the trees and stumbled back towards the bustle and hum of the Gather. Surely there was some lovely barmaid he could steal away and relieve these flight frustrations with. [/font]
