*Saira and Zamanth were killed while fighting Threadfall in the 204th Turn of Trelis*
Name Saira
Pronunciation SIGH-rah
Age 23 turns
Season Born in Winter
Gender Female
Sexuality Heterosexual
Appearance Saira is neither tall nor short, but comfortably in the middling range for a woman. Her build tends towards the skinny side with little extraneous body fat, though she has lean, strong muscles as well from turns of hard work. As a result, her body is not particularly curvy or feminine, giving her a rather androgynous appearance.
This effect is only heightened by the short, often messy cut of her hair. It's quite boyish, only an inch or two long, with a slightly longer fringe that hangs over her face and obscures her dark brown eyes. Her hair is rather thin and very straight; it's a warm auburn shade, brown with reddish tints to it. The shape of her face is a bit more feminine, somewhat rounded with a small, upturned nose.
She has pale skin that burns easily in the sunlight; she tends to wear multiple layers of clothing in all but the hottest weather. She is not the type to dress to impress, and the majority of her wardrobe is rather plain and modest in cut.
Personality Saira is a very energetic and active person; she works hard and likes to be useful to others. She thrives on the praise of people she admires and is basically a perfect little minion. She is diligent and dedicated to her work, though not the type really to show off; she's not necessarily self-conscious, but she doesn't like to draw more attention to herself than needed.
She is extremely loyal to anyone who gains her trust, and to be honest, she's not particularly picky about who she gives it to. She falls in love easily, particularly if it's the rider of whoever last caught Zamanth, and she is really quite the hopeless romantic. She's very susceptible to flirting, even though she has wound up hurt in the past as a result. She wants to believe the best of people and is an optimist, but she can also be naive and gullible.
Her easy attachment sometimes makes her come off as needy and demanding of attention, though. She does not like to be alone ever, and she gets nervous easily. She'll often go to a friend for comfort at those times rather than Zamanth, who favors a tough love approach, but this can get tiring for other people quickly. While she is at least partially aware of that, she doesn't really see a need yet to change her ways and become braver and more independent.

History Saira was born in Sollace Hold before the start of the New Fall, some thirty turns after the founding of Trelis. Her grandparents had been among the first settlers of the Hold, and her parents were both raised there, though Farm-and Beast-crafting both ran in the family. Saira's father had a small farm of his own in Sollace Hold, and they were fairly successful, despite the large number of children running around underfoot. She was a middle child, with older siblings as well as younger, and for the most part, she got along well with them and the other children in the Hold.
She became interested in dragons at a young age--something that never really left her. Her first experience with dragonriders was when searchriders from Trelis came to visit. Even though she was much too young at the time to stand, she got to meet her first dragon. A few turns later, she received a medium-sized fire lizard egg for her tenth birthday. It hatched into a brown, which she named Comet.
It was another five turns after that when the searchriders from Trelis came again. This time she was old enough to become a candidate, and she eagerly accepted the chance to go with them. Though she stood for the next clutch, it wasn't until she was nearing twenty turns old that she managed to Impress. She was standing for the senior queen's latest clutch when a lovely green dragonet strode over to her.
My name is Zamanth, SairaMine. I am very hungry, can we please eat now? The green was demanding, but Saira loved every minute they spent together. Their weyrling training was uneventful, with the pair neither excelling or falling behind. When she rose for the first time, however, she was caught by a blue clutchmate; his rider was already a friend of Saira and it seemed natural for them to become weyrmates, and they stayed together until Saira and Zamanth disappeared from Trelis.
The two of them graduated shortly before the start of the New Fall, and they joined the lower wing. When the plans were made for the Trelis riders to jump forward in time to introduce Trelis to the rest of Pern, Saira was supposed to go with them, and had every intention of doing so. Unfortunately, they were still inexperienced with timing it, and they badly misjudged the jump. They overshot their target time by about two hundred turns, ending up in present day Trelis Weyr in the middle of the Gather.
Saira left behind everyone she ever knew, including her family, her weyrmate, and her fire lizard (Comet never reappeared with Zamanth, and she assumes he either stayed in the past or was lost between). She's slightly overwhelmed by everything that's changed in two centuries. Not only has Trelis become a fully-fledged Weyr, but new colors she's never heard of are becoming commonplace and the number of mutations in dragonkin is climbing. The scariest part is probably this sinister rebellion she's heard so much about lately, led by dragonriders, no less. Pern has become a frightening place, but she's slowly getting used to it.
Dragon/Wher
Name Zamanth
Pronunciation ZAH-manth
Age 3 turns
Type Dragon
Rank Green
Size 24 feet
Color Codes Base color: 022400
Markings: 044C00
Appearance Zamanth is on the large end of the scale for a green, though not abnormally so, as she measures just over twenty-four feet. Her build is bulky and muscular, not exactly feminine, though she is a strong flier and a graceful mover on the ground. Her hide is not as showy as some other dragons; it's a pretty uniform dark green in color over her entire body. The only variation in color are the lighter, but still deep green speckles along the back of her neck and spine.
Personality Zamanth is...not exactly friendly, but outgoing. Though she is not necessarily the easiest dragon to get along with, she enjoys making conversation and being around other dragons--as long as they're "normal," anyway. However, the idea of speaking to humans other than Saira is anathema to her. She makes friends easily, as she actively tries to be liked by other dragons and tries to make a good first impression.
One downside of this is that she does love to gossip, though, and she can be entirely too talkative. It's virtually impossible for her to keep secrets; she wants too badly to tell people what they're not supposed to know, and she shows her emotions too readily to keep her own secrets. She has a rather short temper and is not patient when dealing with Saira's problems; she is not a comforting or sympathetic dragon, though she deals with issues in a calm and sensible manner. She is very blunt and pragmatic in her dealings with others, especially compared to Saira's idealism.
Zamanth can also be a vengeful dragon; she does not necessarily get offended easily, but when she is, she does not forgive easily--preferably not until she's extracted a pound of flesh for every offense. She is also extremely set in her ways and has a severe dislike of change, or anything new. Naturally, she tends to not get along as well with the new colors and mutations and has an almost instinctual distrust of them.
Mind-voice (If applicable)
We must take care of ourselves now, Saira, not rely on the kindness of others.
Zamanth's mind-voice is low and harsh, brimming with barely suppressed emotion most of the time, though if she's in a good mood, it becomes slightly softer and more rhythmic, almost bell-like.
