When she looked at him she blinked, giving a slight shutter. He looked annoyed.... Had she upset him...? Faranth she hoped not.
"Gar... I don't want to come between you and your son." She sniffed and did her best to suck it up. She was stronger than this and she knew it. She leaned into his touch, though, enjoying the feeling of his hand on her face. "I won't cry over it..." She looked at him, studying his face.
"Do... do you really even..." She sighed and was quiet, closing her eyes."
"Once... It was harder then... But... Somehow... I managed... to keep it from her more often than not..." She sighed and looked at him again, opening her eyes once more.
((Sorry... short...))

"It'll take more than that girl." He replied with a drawl. His son had come along during the Southerner's visit, had dealt with some of the scorn and dislike of being a foreigner... and despite all that, the boy and his father had remained close. Firo had a tendency to give into his emotions however, no matter how hard Gar tried to train him out of it. He would be angry, and upset, and would probably run back to the Hold in a day or two... but they would likely patch things up.
"Do I really even... what?" J'degar gave her a confused look, not at all sure what she had meant. "Anna is a smart girl, I'm sure she can handle it. It was just a kiss after all..." Of course... they had both been getting rather into it... and if they hadn't been stopped when they were... No... J'degar was actually a bit relieved at their timing.

Assaila looked at him and smiled softly. "That's good. But I think any chance of him allowing me in his life might be gone forever..." She sighed again. Faranth why did boys have to be so hard. Girls were so much easier. She sighed again.
She sighed... hopefully... things would work out.
"Do you really even... want to try...?" she asked. She was so quiet. She was entirely unsure now. She closed her eyes, scared to hear his answer. Very scared to hear his answer indeed.
"I hope she will... In fact... I'm sure she will..." She bit her lip slightly. "I'm sorry J'degar... though..." she sighed. She was a little disappointed that they had been interrupted... unlike him. Though she didn't know that he was actually... rather happy that they had been interrupted.

“Boys are idiots,” J’degar admitted with a shrug, “If you worry about it too much he’ll never warm up to you. Treat him like a man and he’ll warm up eventually.” After all… if she had managed to get Gar to warm up to her, then he doubted the boy would put up much of a fight either. It would take time, but change was never easy. Her question just served to confuse him. Did he want to try… what exactly? Fixing things with his son? Yes, but he wasn’t horribly worried about it; they had been through worse. Did he want to try continuing what they had been doing? A quick shiver ran down his spine and he knew his body would be more than happy to continue… his heart though… Perhaps that was what she meant? Did he want to even try working on what was apparently blooming between them? He sighed deeply.
“Speak up girl,” J’degar gave her a look, rather annoyed that she was beating around the bush with him. She could be darn sure he wouldn’t answer unless he properly understood the question. “I can’t here you when you mumble like that.” Sure, that probably wasn’t the nicest sounding thing to say… and she seemed rather upset about it, but J’degar was still tense from their encounter. As it was, the occasional shudder still wracked his body if he let himself dwell on it too long.
“There’s nothing to apologize for. Stop thinking you’re at fault for everything.” It definitely wasn’t her fault that his son was being stubborn!

She smiled slightly. "I think it's quite a bit different, J'degar... do you want me to treat him like any other man who has been rude to me...?" She was teasing now..... normally she would have slapped them on the spot. She sighed and leaned against him slightly. She was frowning. She felt goose bumps on her skin and a slight tremor rack her body. Faranth...
She frowned and pulled away standing up abruptly. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to mumble!" she crossed her arms and turned her back on him. "I asked if you even really wanted to try working on this thing that has started between us or if you rather go back to your lonely life of paperwork and exercising and being hated by every woman in the Weyr!" She was less than happy with being snapped at.
"I won't apologize and I won't feel I'm at fault, alright." She was standing with her arms crossed, her back rigid and facing away from his stubbornly, her eyes were closed and she was deeply irritated... even her attempt at having a civil and gentle tone was pointless...

J’degar gave her another wary look. He wasn’t quite sure what she did to ALL the men that had been rude… but he hadn’t exactly been kind to her and she turned around and tried to ravish him… the other man he knew of had ended up dead. Neither of those options sounded particularly pleasant in regards to his only living child. “I’d rather he survived for a few more Turns.” He looked up at Assaila as she jumped up. Her outburst didn’t really surprise him; she had always had a short fuse, so J’degar didn’t even bother giving her a look of surprise.
“You make it sound like my life was hell.” He replied calmly, “With you around I work on just as much paperwork, my workouts are continuously interrupted, I’m still hated by women, and I’m constantly reminded of my late wife.” His voice was almost cold; he was mildly annoyed that she was implying his life was pathetic. Sure, it wasn’t quite what he wanted to do, but he was happy with it. “But…” He sighed, reaching out with his good arm with the intent of wrapping it around her waist and pulling her onto his lap.
“I suppose I’ve grown rather fond of you, even if you are a pain in the neck.” His voice had dropped lower as he spoke. His grip around her waist loosened; if she wanted to storm out and leave him he wouldn’t – couldn’t - stop her.

"J'degar... I wouldn't dream of killing him... Men who have disrespected me usually end up wearing my hand print for a while... if you know what I mean..." meaning a quick slap to the face. She choked down a laugh. "You really don't know how I handle all aspects of my life, I suppose..." she grinned, but she coughed to try to keep him from seeing it.
"I'm afraid I don't go out of my way to interrupt your workouts... not really being a morning person, you're usually safe from me, thank you very much... unless you have some afternoon or evening workouts I don't know of... of course... when Assaila wants to come see Syphraelth and wants to be awake... I get dragged along anyways...." She grinned softly. She loved her daughter. She was the one thing that had kept Assaila going long enough to even meet the man who was behind her now. "Well... I'm sorry for reminding you all the time..." she sighed, shoulders slumping slightly. But he couldn't have it both ways. There was a but and she tilted her shoulder to look over it back at him.
She smiled softly. "Well... I suppose even a pain in the neck has a few good points every now and again... At least... one like me... Or I should hope." She grabbed his hand to prevent him from letting her go and allowed herself to be pulled onto his lap where she looked at him with the faintest smile, her bright blue eyes studying his face. He had grown fond of her... which was more than she had ever dreamed to get out of him.

Did she realize that by tacking ‘if you know what I mean’ to the end of a sentence, it gave a potentially different meaning. He understood the context however, and snorted in amusement; perhaps his son could use a good slap to settle him down. Gar wasn’t one for hitting children, but by Pernese standard, Firo was an adult now.
“She spends her time with Syph,” He quirked an eyebrow, “You’re the one who would sit there glaring at me.” So that was a lie… he couldn’t remember if she had ever really glared at him, but he did recall she used to try to frustrate him as much as possible. “She’s likely old enough to out on her own you know. Syph wouldn’t let anything happen to her anyways.” Weyrbrats tended to be out and about unattended at a younger age than Annaliese, but they also grew up with parents most of the time.
“Perhaps,” He replied, a hint of mocking to his voice. He hadn’t missed the slump of her shoulders, or the way she grabbed his hand (which as always caused him to twitch). “It’s rare to find such levels of sheer, annoying, determination these days. Some of the weyrlings could learn from you.”

"Glaring huh... I can't help but think you're mistaken... more like... oh... I dunno... admiring." She grinned, still facing away from him at this point. She shrugged. "She is... but it's hard for me to leave her alone for too long... Even four turns in a Weyr doesn't make me feel much safer right now... Though... I'm sure that I'm safe with you... and I trust Syph. He's a great brown." She gave a slight sigh. "And now she is training to be a healer... I am so proud of her..."
As she was pulled to his lap, she frowned. "Oh. Hrmmm... Do you want them all throwing themselves at you for kisses and hanging on to you? Or do you mean showing such blatant determination and not caring if you yell or get upset and putting everyone else who matters in their lives first....?" She frowned at him for a moment, but a devious idea was already in the works.
"Assistant Weyrlingmaster..." she said softly, then, very gently, she touched his face and stretched up to gently press her lips to his cheek.... then the corner of his mouth... then... his lips... Her hands were in his hair again. "I'm quite fond of you as well... But then again... I think you already knew that." Her voice was very quiet. She gave the slightest smile which almost came across as a smirk. "Would you hate me if I told you... that was the best kiss I think any man has ever given me... but... definitely not the sweet kind..." she gave him a cheeky grin.

A physical shudder of fear actually went through him at the very prospect of women hanging off him like that. “It would never happen.” His voice was firm. As it was, he still couldn’t believe he was tolerating Assaila’s blunt form of affection, much less actually reacting to it. He really, truly needed to cut down on the fellis. “Perhaps for the wrong reason… but determination is determination.”
J’degar was beginning to place a connection between his title being used and Assaila launching attacks on his well-being. At first he thought maybe it was a false alarm as she touched his cheek. Yet, while distractedly glancing at the intrusion, he didn’t quite notice how close she had gotten until he felt her lips pressed against his cheek; hadn’t reacted as she kissed the corner of his mouth. Then before he could put a true bout of effort into ignoring her she had her hands running through his hair again, teasing his sensitive scalp. It wasn’t until she pulled away smirking that J’degar realized his own hand had tangled in her hair as he had kissed her. Furrowing his brow at the cheeky grin, he looked away, finding a spot on the wall to focus as he took deep breaths.
Four Turns he had tried to get rid of her. Four Turns she had ignored his hints and blatant requests to leave him alone. Yet… less than a few candlemarks in his weyr and she had already found, and was exploiting, his weakness. It just wasn’t right! “I… see…” How was he supposed to respond to her!

"Well... that's all the better for me then. I'll be the only one hanging off you." she grinned. "But of course... I suppose if you told me you wanted me out right now... I might just leave..." She didn't think he would. She was leaning against his chest, sitting on his lap still. She was teasing him... though she doubted he was comfortable with this particular line. "Would you rather I stopped...?" she asked him softly, relenting.
The fact that he had kissed her back so readily and so passionately when she had meant the kiss to be gentle and teasing... Faranth. She was panting even though she was smirking. "I... wasn't expecting your reaction," she told him breathily, wide eyed. "Faranth, Gar..." she said in a whisper, a hand touching his face again.
She closed her eyes and just... sat there. "I... don't know if you want to do this... I'll try to be good... promise," she said in a sot whisper, her lips close to his ear. She was sitting on his lap... that was enough... and she didn't want to risk hurting him... Not at all. She was just.... so surprised by him sometimes. It wasn't like she had gone out of her way to learn his weaknesses... She had jsut been being... Assaila...

J’degar let out a deep breath, a neutral look on his face. The idea of her continually hanging off him didn’t exactly sit well with him, but she wasn’t as bad as she had once been. She was asking those stupid questions again, however, and J’degar wasn’t even going to pretend to respond. He blinked, a little wide-eyed himself before looking away from her once more. Her words in itself was proof he was losing it.
“I… fellis…” He began to explain, but he knew the excuse was terrible and he doubted she would believe it anyways. He was mildly surprised she had positioned herself like this again… the last time their kids had walked in. She seemed to be rather entranced with what she was doing however…
“I don’t think you’re capable of behaving.” He spoke bluntly, giving her a leveling look. “This is proof of that.” She had learned much more than just a simple weakness. Done long enough and the feeling of fingers on his scalp could overwhelm him. It was embarrassing to him actually, that he was so easily swayed by such a simple move, and yet he couldn’t stop himself.

He didn't answer. That was okay with her. Instead, she contented herself with sitting there, leaning her head on his shoulder.
"Uh-huh... Gar..." she shook her head and gave him a smile. "That's not a very good excuse... though I suppose it could make you a little bit more defenseless against me..." With that she gave him the briefest peck on the cheek, quick, chaste, simple, and let out a sigh, content to stay right there.
"Oh... maybe you're right..." she said in a soft whisper and kissed his neck gently before nibbling ever so gently at his skin. She sighed. "Okay... so you are right..." She tried to stay very still and not move... but he was too tempting. "Why do you have to make this so hard," she complained, laughing slightly, knowing it wasn't him, but her. Her voice was teasing and she was quite obviously joking.
She didn't move for the longest time, just sitting there. She wondered what she should do now... What should she say... Of course... he could say or do something... thought that wasn't awlays his style...

“It’s a good enough excuse…” He grumbled, letting her get away with yet another kiss. When had he become so compliant? Perhaps it was the feeling of just how mortal he was? Or it truly could be that he was hyped up on pain killers? Either way, aside from light twitches he didn’t try to stop her as she began a soft teasing attack on his neck. He could ignore it if he tried.
“I am most certainly right.” He replied as her nibbles continued, and even when she stopped he had no doubt it was a short-lived break. “I’ve done nothing…” He looked at her accusingly, as if hurt that she would even think that he was doing anything to attract her attention. He was innocent – innocent AND injured!! Not even the fact that she was joking made him feel any better.
“I’m just a simple rider. That’s it.”

She blinked looking at him, feeling bad for making him... well... feel bad? "Do you just want to rest, Gar...?" she asked him softly.
She smiled gently. "And of course you didn't have to do anything to attract my attentions... but..." she sighed and kissed him again fleetingly. "I find you far too tempting." She gently kissed his neck again, her tongue escaping her mouth to gently play across his skin. "So it's all my fault..." she said in a soft whisper, gently nibbling at his earlobe very very gently.
"You are not just a simple rider, Gar... not to me anyways... though... You are spectacular in your own way..." She smiled softly. "But I'm biased, of course."
She wrapped her arms around him and pressed her self close, one hand moving up his neck, massaging gently and coming dangerously near his hairline while the other wrapped around his good side very gently... She was sure he would push her away or reprimand her at any moment.
