Name Iskra Pronunciation IS-krah Age 37 turns Season Born in Spring, 165th turn of Interval Gender Female Sexuality Heterosexual Appearance Iskra is taller than many women, standing just under six feet, and she has the bulk to match. She is not a slender, petite woman, and never has been. She does have a lot of well-toned muscle, for riding a dragon is a lot of work, and besides that, she likes to keep herself in good shape and good health. Her everyday clothing is practical and usually well-worn leather and the like; she does have several dresses more 'befitting' of a Weyrwoman, but she typically only pulls those out on special occasions when she needs to look the part. The rest of the time, she much prefers breeches and boots to slippers and gowns.
She is not a typical beauty, but she is attractive in her own way, more handsome than pretty, with strong features and a prominent nose. Her golden-brown eyes are small and narrow, and she tends to appear annoyed or tense to others, even when she's not. She has a series of old scars from her days as a candidate that tend to be mostly hidden by her clothes, though when she dresses in more revealing gowns, they are certainly obvious enough. There are eight of them in all, in parallel lines from her neck to her upper arm, the remnants of a confused hatchling's claws. The smallest and shallowest ones mark her neck, and the claw-marks gradually get longer and more prominent along her collar and shoulder, the last resting on her upper arm just below her shoulder.
Her hair is long and thick, a sandy brownish-blonde in color with pale highlights. It reaches to just below her shoulder-blades when left free, though she prefers to tie it back in some way to keep it away from her face. It's generally twisted into a braid, or tied in a bun if she plans on flying. Aside from a couple hair-clips, she wears little jewelry, preferring to save it for special occasions, like her dresses. Personality Short-tempered and easily annoyed, Iskra is not the easiest person to get along with in her bad moods, but she has mellowed out quite a bit since Impressing Maeleth. She is rather proud, and gets offended easily, but she tries not to let it show. She finds it very important to be polite and respectful to people, especially those who approach her own rank, no matter what she privately thinks of them. Her reaction when slighted tends to be passive aggressiveness rather than blatant insults, but she knows when to let it go as well.
She takes pride in her accomplishments and may come off as either confident or arrogant. She is particular proud of her scars, viewing them as the tokens of a hard lesson learned, and refuses to hide them, though she doesn't particularly draw attention to them either. She is not as impulsive and reckless now as when she first got them, and she is much more willing to think before she acts. She has developed a lot of patience, especially with Maeleth's soothing presence to help her. She is sensible, down-to-earth, and very organized. She hates messy areas and keeps her own rooms clean and neat by habit.
Iskra may not be the most outgoing person, but she does like most animals. Though she never really got around to bonding a fire lizard, the more she learns about the huntyres, the more she likes them, especially since bonding her own Darija. She is a little less fond of humans and finds it difficult to make friends. Diplomatic and respectful, she can handle; genuine friendliness is a little harder for her to do when meeting new people. She is not overly bothered by this, though; she has always been more of an introvert and likes having time to herself when she's not buried in work. Maeleth, of course, doesn't count--she plainly adores the gold and never objects to hearing the comments she has to offer.
Iskra has always been a hard worker and obedient to her superiors, even in her days as an apprentice and candidate--perhaps more so then than now, since there are fewer people who outrank her. She is very focused and quite intelligent, though she's never been particular fond of reading or writing, however she's competent at both. Her sense of humor tends to be clever but sarcastic, often at the expense of others.
Iskra has never been a very maternal person; the one child she did give birth to has been mostly raised by foster parents, and she chose to take a trip between the last two times she became pregnant, rather than go through birthing again. Maeleth has enough mothering instincts for both of them. She doesn't have a whole lot of experience with long-term relationships; she's had a few flings over the years but she only ever had one serious relationship. It takes a particular type of man to impress her, one who isn't driven away by her sharp tongue or intimidated by her position. Location Born in Apolla Hold, then Trelis Weyr, then Telgar Weyr, now resides back in Trelis Weyr Rank Senior Weyrwoman Wing/Pack Sunrise Wing
History Journeywoman Harper Krayla had scarcely walked the tables when she was sent on her first assignment, to Apolla Hold. It was there that she met a handsome young holder, Istelborn, who quickly managed to woo her over. Within a few months, it became clear that Krayla was pregnant, but she had come to care for Istelborn, maybe even love him, over the months she had spent at the Hold, and when the Holder asked her to marry him, she agreed. Not wanting to be called away from her new family by her job, she readily sent her resignation to the Harper Hall and settled down as the wife of a Holder. Their first child, a boy, was born nine months later, and he was named Istakray. He was soon followed by one sister, then another, until they had a comfortably full house of seven children.
Iskra was the third child born to Istelborn and Krayla, and the second daughter. Istelborn was a kind man who doted on his daughters and treated his sons with respect, and Krayla was a loving mother. Iskra was significantly less outgoing than most of her siblings, but with six of them to choose from, she rarely wanted for companionship, even if she had few friends outside her family.
She was an active and adventurous child, and once she realized that she didn't want to spend the rest of her life in Apolla Hold, she went to her mother, who urged her to join the Harper Crafthall. Iskra was happy to go, and at thirteen turns of age, she apprenticed as a harper. As an apprentice, she quickly discovered she had a talent for crafting instruments, as well as (to a lesser extent) playing them, though she never developed a notably good singing voice and she always dreaded the chores that involved copying, as she lacked the patience to deal with it and found it dreadfully dull work.
She spent two years at the Hall, and when she was fifteen, the dragons came on Search. She went to meet them, along with the rest of the apprentices of proper age, and she was stunned when a hefty blue dragon showed particular interest in her and his rider asked her to be a candidate. She quickly agreed, finding the idea of riding a dragon much more exciting than being a harper, and returned to Trelis Weyr with them.
She arrived on the hatching sands when the Hatching was announced and watched excitedly as the eggs starting to crack open. No matter how she tried to draw a hatchling's attention, though, they all seemed to ignore her. As the Hatching began to draw to a close, one confused green still wandered the sands aimlessly; half-trying to help it and half-trying to Impress it, Iskra reached out to try and guide the hatchling toward her.
The green's eyes went red suddenly, and it lashed out at her outstretched arm instead as she bent over it. The green's claws narrowly missed ripping out her throat; instead, they latched onto her collarbone and shoulder, doing massive damage nonetheless. She was later told she was lucky to escape with her life, in between admonishments of how foolish she'd been in the first place. She didn't even get a dragon to show for it--shortly after Iskra was taken to the Infirmary, the green successfully Impressed to another girl.
During the weeks she spent bed-bound after the Hatching, Iskra came to realize how foolish and reckless she had been, and vowed never to be so again. Fortunately, she was not banned from standing for her behavior, as she had clearly learned her lesson, and in time her wounds faded to scars. It was still another three years before she successfully Impressed, however. The latest news in the Weyr was that a gold egg had been laid by Gold Mivinth, a testament to the fact that Thread would be returning in less than a decade.
Iskra once again stood on the sands, watching excitedly as the eggs began to crack, but this time her attention was mainly focused on the golden Queen egg as it slowly cracked open. Finally, once nearly all the rest of the eggs had hatched, the golden head appeared and the hatchling made her way out of the remains of her egg. She appeared calm, but the fierce whirling of her eyes belied her urgency as she inspected the remaining girls, and Iskra was shocked, nevermind that she'd been hoping for it, when the golden hatchling stopped in front of her and stared at her face.
You. You are the right one for me. We go good together, yes? I am Maeleth, the gold told the ecstatic Iskra. She had just turned eighteen. Iskra and Maeleth went through Weyrling Training as easily as could be expected, and in another three years or so, Maeleth was ready to mate for the first time. B'sar, a bronzerider whose dragon was clutchmate to Maeleth, had been courting Iskra for weeks prior to the flight, though she had given him little encouragement. She was surprised to discover the depths of her emotions after his bronze caught Maeleth, however, and as their dragons became weyrmates, so did they. Not long after, Iskra discovered she was with child, and though B'sar was happy to be a father, Iskra was less enthused about being pregnant. She went through nine miserable months and quite happily handed the baby boy over to a foster mother. Scarcely a year later, B'sar died in a betweening accident and Iskra was left alone with a child she didn't particularly want. Every so often, she remembers to pay a visit to her son, but for the most part, he seemed to be happy with the rest of the weyrbrats in the creche. Twice more in the nine years since then Iskra has gotten pregnant thanks to Maeleth's flights, though both times she opted to take a trip between rather than go through labor again. She has not had a serious relationship since then, either, though she has tried with several of the riders whose dragons caught Maeleth, however, it never seemed to work out. More recently, the entire Weyr mourned when the Senior Weyrwoman, Sahelli, died, along with her gold, Mivinth. Iskra mourned no less than the others, though she did so quietly, for Sahelli had been a mentor to her and Maeleth. Being the oldest living weyrwoman, she fully expected to become Senior Weyrwoman the next time Maeleth rose, but she could not predict the young queen Loraketh when she had not even risen at all yet. She was surprised and dismayed when the young queen rose before Maeleth and her nineteen-turn-old rider Inali became Senior Weyrwoman over her. She still nurses a bit of an unfair grudge against the other goldrider, but she tries not to let it show; her first loyalty is still to the Weyr, and its riders should stick together, right? Nothing lasts forever, though; almost as soon as Maeleth's latest clutch was laid on Trelis's sands, Iskra's son and several other young children were kidnapped from the Hatching Feast and held for ransom as an attempt to rid Pern of the new colors. Though Bekran and the other children were recovered without harm, Iskra decided Trelis Weyr was becoming too dangerous for her dragon and her son, and soon after Maeleth's clutch hatched, they transferred to Telgar Weyr. Having almost lost her son, Iskra finally realized how important Bekran was to her; the poor boy was nearly smothered by her attention for the first turn they spent at Telgar, though eventually Maeleth convinced her to give him a little more space. Though he is now old enough to stand for clutches and lives with the other candidates, Iskra still keeps a closer eye on him than she had before the move. Iskra was one again relegated to the position of Junior Weyrwoman, a concept that annoyed her even more when she learned of Loraketh's death and how close she had come to being the Senior of her home Weyr. By that time, however, Maeleth had risen to mate again, laying her second gold egg. It hatched, and the young queen Majorith chose Rikula as her rider; Iskra's time was now spent in training the young pair. Then the time came; word came from Trelis Weyr that Weyrwoman Iirla had died, along with Maeleth's firstborn golden daughter. The Weyr was left without any golds at all, and since Iskra's Maeleth was formerly of that Weyr, she was selected to return there and at last take her place as Senior Weyrwoman. Rikula and Majorith were selected to go as well, to serve as her juniors. She was much less enthused when she was told she was to train Rikula to become Senior as soon as another queen egg was laid, at which point Iskra was to return to Telgar. Though on the surface she agreed with her orders, she is not at all certain she plans to obey them when the time comes. After all, why should she leave the place of Maeleth's birth when she finally got the position she'd long been dreaming of?
Craft Harper Ranking Apprentice Strengths Crafting and Playing Instruments Weaknesses Poor singing voice and copying (decent handwriting, just doesn't have the patience for it) Pet Name Darija Pronunciation DAH-ree-jah Age 4 turns Type Huntyre Rank Forest Size 1.4 feet tall once full-grown Color CodesBody: D43D1A Speckles/Neck feathers: 608341 and 5A6351
Appearance This little girl is small now, but within time she will grow to be on the larger size of her color. With a mostly reddish, brown plumage this girl stands out among most other Forests. Her feathers are speckled with small bits of gray and green as well. While males of this species have a crest on their heads, females have extra feathers around their necks. On this little female, her fuzz will grow out to be a mixture of green and gray plumes, making it almost look like a collar since it is a stark difference from her reddish body.
Personality Well, in a word, this girl is feisty. A chick after her mother's heart, this Forest knows who she is and what she wants. Never will she ever be indecisive about anything, and never will she back down. When she wants something she gets it, end of story. If you're stupid enough to keep it from her...well, she'll make your life miserable. Iskra is certainly going to have her hands full with this one. DragonName Maeleth Pronunciation MAY-lehth Age 19 turns Type Dragon Rank Senior Queen Size 46 feet long Color Codes F0E404-Base body BAA505-Stripes F6EE62-Belly
Appearance Maeleth is average-sized for a gold, but she has a slender, long-limbed body with an attractive build. Her wings are particularly long and broad, giving her a lot of strength and endurance in the air. Her neck and tail are both quite long, while her legs are a bit shorter, though still within average for a dragon of her size.
Her base body color is a bright, sunny golden shade, though there's a strip of lighter gold running from the underside of her throat, down her neck and chest to her belly, ending at the base of her tail. She has striking, striped markings in a much darker gold that looks almost bronze. They cover her back and tail and top of the neck, and even extend partly along the 'forearm' of her wings, though the wingsails are unmarred.
Personality Slow and lethargic on the ground, some might even call Maeleth lazy, but she's not, really. She just prefers to conserve her energy, and she doesn't see the point of making a big show of things most of the time. She is, above all else, a laid-back, easy-going dragon. She doesn't worry about tomorrow or yesterday, or anything at all, it seems. She just takes things as they come, one day at a time. She has a remarkably soothing presence, and she takes joy in helping others however she can. She has certainly been a calming influence on her rider.
Where Iskra lacks that maternal instinct, Maeleth has it in spades. She loves children, and eggs, and hatchlings, and she's usually the one who'll remind Iskra to go see her own son. She is neat and fastidious, much like her rider, and likes to make Iskra make sure she's in top physical condition. Maeleth can be rather vain, and enjoys a good flirt with a bronze or the occasional brown.
She is definitely outgoing where her rider is not, spending lots of time around other dragons. She is not a gossip, though, and she can be very discreet, if only because she'll probably forget whatever secret she's been entrusted with in a few days, if she doesn't trust it to Iskra's memory. She is not completely extroverted, though, and she values the time she does get to herself. In keeping with her typical calm nature, she is not overprotective, even when guarding a clutch, and fortunately for Iskra, is not as difficult to control as some golds.
Mind-voice (If applicable) Calm down, Iskra. Everything will turn out alright someday. You'll see. True to her personality, Maeleth's mind-voice is calm and soothing, brushing softly against one's mind like waves. It has shades of that trained harperness to it that Iskra's does, though the dragon's voice tends more towards a low tenor version of Iskra's alto.

Name R'hard (Rihard) Pronunciation ruh-HARD (REE-hard) Age 20 Season Born in Fall, 183rd turn of Interval Gender Male Sexuality Heterosexual Appearance Quite sturdy and muscular, but not very tall, the overall effect is that R'hard looks pudgy, even fat, although the extra weight comes more from muscle than fat, and he's stronger than he looks. He has creamy skin that tans easily and often, and his wardrobe tends to favor bright, eye-catching colors.
His face is quite round and looks even younger than his nineteen turns, with small, bright blue eyes. His hair is thin and somewhat stringy, dark brown in color, and it is cut short, reaching no further than the edge of his neck. Personality R'hard is personable and outgoing. He likes to meet new people and generally has no trouble making friends when he finds himself in a new place, which, growing up in a caravan of traders, happens to him a lot. He likes to flirt as well, and flatter the female weyrlings and riders, though it doesn't usually go any further than that, especially if he already has his eye on someone in particular.
R'hard can be kind of lazy, with a tendency to slack off of his work, but with enough prodding from someone in authority he can do a thorough job at whatever he's been told to do. He doesn't really enjoy it, but he's been taught to be polite and respectful of authority figures, so he is. He finds it much easier, however, to get along with other weyrlings and young riders, and those on his own level.
He is intensely curious and loves to explore new places. He enjoyed the traveling with his family, but Trelis Weyr and its surrounding lands are expansive enough that he should be satisfied for quite a awhile. He has a reputation for being very generous with his belongings and willing to help others, though he can be a little vain when it comes to his clothing. He pays a lot of attention to his appearance and tries to look his best. Family (if any) Raynard: Father, 40, Trader Jiheya: Mother, 40, Trader Raya: Sister, 16, Trader Jinard: Brother, 13, Trader
Location Traveler, now resides at Trelis Weyr Rank Weyrleader Wing/Pack Sky Shakers (High Wing)
History Rihard is the firstborn son of two traders. He was born in the vicinity of Fort Hold, but he no more calls that place home than any other one Hold or Weyr on Pern. He grew up in the trade caravans, traveling from one place to another as his parents bought and sold their goods. He is the oldest of three siblings, and he never had any trouble making friends in the various Holds they visited.
When he turned ten turns old, he received a fire lizard egg from his parents as a gift, and it later hatched into a brown which he called Hari. He was thrilled to have a fire lizard of his own, and takes the brown with him everywhere he goes.
Recently his family stopped at Sollace Hold outside Trelis Weyr, an infrequent stop on their usual route, and it turned out there were searchriders from the Weyr. They said the new Senior Queen had just laid her first clutch, and candidates were needed to Impress them. Rihard was surprised when he was singled out of the crowd and told he had been searched, but a dragon would be even better than a fire lizard, so he gladly agreed to stand for the clutch, and he returned to the Weyr with them.
At the Hatching, he stood with the rest of the candidates and quickly Impressed a brown named Kaith before almost anyone else. Some time after they graduated weyrling training, Threadfall began unexpectedly and the Senior Queen Loraketh went between during a fall. There was also the brewing Rebellion, which drew away several riders R'hard had called friends, though he disapproves of their murderous actions too much to ever side with them. With the new leadership of Iirla and Izanycorth, and the Weyr under the control of S'vrin and Ar'rex, things have gotten tense.
Of course, R'hard's stress levels have not been helped by Kaith winning Topaz Kayath's flight and making him Junior Weyrleader, and things around Trelis went from bad to worse with the death of Weyrwoman Iirla, thrusting him into a position of Weyrleadership he never really wanted. On the bright side, he did meet a candidate named Ooma, who later Impressed green Calibath, and they are quickly becoming more than friends... Pets Pic by Kitsuneko Name Hari Pronunciation HAH-ree Age 10 turns Type Firelizard Rank Brown Size 27 inches Color Codes AC7900 Personality/Appearance Hari is a somewhat bulky brown, a little larger than average for his color. He has short, stumpy limbs and a stout body, but his wings are long and he is much more graceful in the air than on the ground. His hide is a solid, middling brown tone, which gradually shades to a darker tone on his feet and tail, but otherwise, he is unmarked.
Hari is rather like a feline in his mannerisms. He is very clean and neat and R'hard makes sure he is well-oiled, but Hari doesn't like to get dirty, so he is a relatively easy fire lizard to care for. He is independent and not all that outgoing, but he is affectionate with R'hard and tends to follow him around, as long as there aren't too many people.
He is curious, and much like his owner, he likes to explore new places and often gets into trouble as a result of his curiosity. He is easily frightened even by harmless things, so he tends to go back to R'hard for comfort when startled. Name Sahar Pronunciation suh-HAR Age 4 turns Type Firelizard Rank Green Size 14 inches Color Codes 4AAD61 Personality/Appearance Sahar is pretty tiny, even for a green. Not the smallest fire lizard out there, but certainly close to it. She has a particularly long tail that is usually curled around R'hard's neck or arm, and her body is covered in dark green tribal-like markings.
Sahar is a protective fire lizard and even rather motherly, for a green. She's no substitute for a gold, but she'll likely pay more attention to her clutches than most greens, and she is likely to be protective of R'hard and Hari as well. (Kaith has no interest in her, nor she in him, and the dragon can take care of himself.)
She is not bad-tempered or aggressive like some of her siblings are, though. She is usually pretty calm and collected, and she is good at calming down others as well. She is not very outgoing, but occasionally takes an interest in a specific person to bestow her affection on. Name Viggo Pronunciation VEE-goh Age 6 months Type Firelizard Rank Blue Size 22 inches Appearance Viggo is certainly a striking fire lizard in appearance. He is about average in length and build for a blue, though his legs are particularly stocky and his wings are a little on the short side. It's his hide that really makes him stand out, though. Bright blue, criss-crossed with deep blue swirls and stripes patterned throughout his hide . If one looks closely, they can see that the base color gets paler towards his legs and tail, and darker around his head.
Personality Most of the time, Viggo is calm and collected, rather aloof, actually. He's an introverted flit who prefers to be by himself most of the time and doesn't really get along with others too well, unless it's Hari or Sahar. He is a very intelligent fire lizard, but also a demanding one. He has a very short temper and is quite demanding when he doesn't get his way, and worse, he goes through sudden mood swings from his normal ice cold self to hot and angry. DragonPicture by Zirin. Name Kaith Name Meaning Kai=Willow Tree, *origin* Navajo Age 3 turns Type Dragon Rank Brown Size 37 feet Color Codes Body-5E2605 Underside-FFA54F Markings-8B2500
Appearance Kaith is huge compared to most of his fellow browns, and at full growth rivals some of the smaller bronzes in size. He is not a sleek, lithe sort of dragon, though; rather the opposite, in fact. He has a somewhat stubby, big-boned frame packed with muscles and yes, fat as well. Kaith never has been a very active dragon, and it shows.
Personality Kaith is lazy. If he could, he'd probably just sit around his bed all day and never move, but neither R'hard nor the Weyrlingmaster will let him do that, so he has to settle for making grumpy comments and complaining when he's told to do stuff. There's no real ire behind it, though, and though he wouldn't admit it, he'd still be dreadfully bored if he did sit still all day. He gets bored quite easily; no matter what he's doing, it's never interesting enough for him.
Kaith's not all that personable of a dragon, either. He tends to be apathetic of other dragons and especially humans that are not his R'hard, and he has trouble making and keeping friends without R'hard there to coach him along. He is very calm, though, and nothing ever seems to worry him or trigger his temper, so once one gets past his grumpiness, he's fairly easy to get along with.

Name Hirion Pronunciation HEAR-ee-on Age 21 turns Season Born in Summer, 182nd turn of Interval Gender Female Sexuality Heterosexual Appearance A bit tall for a woman, Hirion has a naturally skinny build but turns of living in a weyr as an active child has given her a good deal of muscle tone as well. She has very straight, very long black hair, though it's usually braided or put into a bun. Her eyes are narrow and dark brown in color. She has very pale skin that tends to burn easily.
She doesn't care overmuch about how she looks and dresses in old, well-worn clothes most of the time, though she's quite pretty when she takes the time to dress up. Personality Outgoing and extroverted, Hirion likes talking to and meeting new people. She is quite friendly and usually willing to help others. She is quite curious and sometimes even a bit nosy, though she means well. She has always been a bit of a tomboy and was a very rough-and-tumble child. She is a bit more willing to stop and think before she leaps into action now, but she is still active and energetic.
She is quite flirtatious and tends to sleep around, rarely having a weyrmate for any length of time, though she is monogamous when she does have one. Despite rumors and some experimentation in her younger days, she considers herself heterosexual, though she's not averse to the idea of sleeping with riders of either gender when it comes to flights; she just prefers men to women.
She can be very assertive, even aggressive when it comes to getting what she wants. Though usually patient and calm when the situation calls for it, she can be reckless in her determination to prove herself. She tries to be respectful at least to her superiors, though she has trouble keeping her tongue in check when she has an opinion about something and tends to come off as rude. She is a hard worker though and tries to do her job to the best of her ability.
Well aware of how demanding a job dragonriding can be, Hirion has reconciled herself to the fact that she'll likely never have children, or have to foster them out if she does Impress. She is fond of saying that she doesn't want to have kids, they're more trouble than they're worth, etc. Still, she does enjoy spending time occasionally with the Weyr's younger children, and some may think she protests too much. Family (if any) H'lir-Bluerider (deceased) Zalion-Greenrider (deceased) No full-blooded siblings; several half-siblings on both parents' sides, as well as foster siblings, but none of note
Location Trelis Weyr Rank Wingrider Wing/Pack Tempest (Middle Wing)
History Born and bred in the Weyr, Hirion was conceived in the aftermath of a flight and born to a pair of riders. Her parents didn't really get along too well and her mother had no interest in raising her, or the other children she had over the years. As soon as she was able, her greenrider mother gave her daughter to one of the foster mothers in the lower caverns. Her father visited her occasionally, but she never really knew either of them very well.
It was for the best, probably, as both of them died when Hirion was young; her father died in a training accident that burned his dragon and scared the two of them between for good, and her mother in childbirth, the baby boy stillborn. Though she didn't have any full-blooded siblings, she grew up with plenty of foster-siblings as well as a couple half-siblings from her mother and never wanted for company in the Weyr.
She was always a little obsessed with riding a dragon, not unnaturally considering her upbringing, and as soon as she was old enough, she became a candidate. And was left standing, several times. It was during this time that she managed to track down a wild fire lizard's clutch was allowed to keep one of the smaller eggs as a reward. It hatched into a green fire lizard shortly after Hirion turned fourteen; the normally docile flitter earned the name Banshee from an ancient story Hirion had heard as a child when she started screaming because Hirion wasn't feeding her fast enough.
That was three turns ago now; once Banshee was fully grown and started rising, Hirion began to show an interest in some of the other candidates. Being raised in a Weyr had its advantages in this area; she knew full well that dragonlust was much more potent than what she experienced with Banshee, and she had short-lived relationships with boys and girls both, though she eventually decided that she finds men more attractive and considers herself heterosexual.
The most recent clutch she stood for was Loraketh's first, and with the hatching nearly over, Hirion was seriously afraid she was going to be left standing once again. She'd seen the new colors hatch, and after the way the Garnet attacked his own rider, she was hesitant to draw attention to herself when the two sub-queens hatched--not that she would have wanted a clutching dragon, anyway. She'd always figured she would Impress a fighting dragon, and when the steel-blue Ferrth hatched from his egg, she was proven right. The blue bounced right up to her and made it clear he had chosen her as her rider. Hirion couldn't have been more thrilled.
As time passed, a rebellion was building in the background, and Thread fell early. Through Loraketh's death and the takeover of Trelis by S'vrin, Hirion has stayed with the Weyr, though she has no love for S'vrin or Ar'rex and may be interested in becoming a spy for the rebellion. Pet:Pic by Kitsuneko Name Banshee Pronunciation BAN-shee Age 7 turns Type Firelizard Rank Green Size 16 inches Color Codes 2C800B Personality/Appearance Banshee's body is small, even for a green flit, the second-smallest of the colors; however, her neck and tail are long and slender, putting her on the higher end of the green scale length-wise. Any markings on her hide are very subtle; she is generally a uniform middling green shade, though her muzzle and tail both fade to a lighter green.
Normally so silent and unobtrusive you're likely to completely overlook her, Banshee is friendly enough around people but not the sort to beg for attention. She is a very calm and well-mannered flitter, provided she hasn't been upset. Once she's angry, though, all bets are off. It takes a lot to get her mad, but she's a ball of raging, screaming hate once her temper is set off. Name Barus Pronunciation BAH-russ Age 3 turns Type Firelizard Rank Brown Size 27 inches Color Codes 6D381D Personality/Appearance Barus will grow up to be a medium-sized flitter overall, but it's plain even since his hatching that he is a strong, burly brown with a muscular build. His limbs are somewhat short, but stout, as are his wings, and he'll likely always be a somewhat awkward flier.
Barus has a very short temper and it doesn't take much to make him upset. When he is upset, he tends to hiss and snap his jaws at people a lot, though he rarely attempts to actually bite someone. He is friendly enough when in a good mood, however, and he craves being the center of attention. He dislikes it when too much attention is spent on other fire lizards and he does not like being neglected. He is kind of frightened of Banshee, however, and the green can always be trusted to keep him in line, no matter how much larger Barus grows than her. Name Siren Pronunciation SIGH-ren Age 3 turns Type Firelizard Rank Lazuli Size 10 inches Color Codes 365DAA Personality/Appearance It's difficult to pick just one color to describe Siren as. Like most lazulis, she is a dark, metallic-looking blue with a soft, green-gold hue most noticeable on her wings and underside. She is a bit small for a lazuli at ten inches, but not unusually so.
Siren is an extremely friendly and affectionate flitter; she rarely leaves Hirion's side, but when she does, she often finds some other human or friendly dragon to keep her company. She is particularly friendly with Banshee, and even Barus has learned to just put up with her rather than make a fuss. She is rarely silent; she often chirps, creels, and makes other vocal sounds, and her frequent humming is pleasant and almost musical to listen to. DragonName Ferrth Name Meaning Fer=Iron Origin: Latin Age 3 turns Type Dragon Rank Blue Size 30 feet long Color Codes Body A2B5CD Underside E6E8FA Markings1 2F4F4F Markings2 668B8B
Appearance Ferrth is on the large end of the scale for his color, but he is by no means bulky and muscular. He is actually quite slender and long-limbed, with long, narrow wings that allow him to do do all kinds of tricks in the air.
Personality Much like Hirion, Ferrth is very friendly and outgoing, with an enthusiastic nature. He likes people, human and dragon both, and he has a very charismatic personality. He is strongly opinionated and quite stubborn; once he gets an idea in his head, it's difficult to get him to change his mind, and he is never afraid to say what he's thinking, whether it's a good idea or not.
He is very adventurous and bold, with a go-get-'em attitude. He takes as many risks as Hirion, and it'll usually be Hirion holding him back rather than the other way around, but the pair of them are sure to end up in their fair share of trouble from rashness. He is eager to prove himself, but is a hard worker who--usually-follows orders.
Mind-voice Come on Mine! We're gonna get 'em all! You better believe it....YOU HEAR ME?!? BELIEVE IT!!!!!! Smooth, soft, and dripping with charisma and charm, Ferrth's voice tends to have a soothing effect on others, though it can be surprisingly sharp when he's upset.

Name A'tide (Aristide) Pronunciation ah-TEED (AIR-riss-teed) Age 22 Season Born in Summer, 181st Turn of Interval Gender Male Sexuality Heterosexual Appearance Tall and somewhat gangly, A'tide stands just under six feet and is a bit on the thin side, though his limbs seem a bit too long for his body. He tends to appear a couple years younger than he really is, as though he never quite finished puberty, though he's well into his twenties now. He is clean-shaven, with pale skin and eyes which are a light grey and mostly blind. He is capable of distinguishing light from darkness and sometimes recognizes shapes, but is otherwise blind.
His hair is black, a bit messy with a tendency to go in every direction, though A'tide does his best to keep it groomed. He prefers to cut it short, anyway, so it gives him little trouble. His clothes may be neat and clean, but he doesn't care to keep things color-coordinated and tends to clash, but at least he stands out in a crowd. Personality Friendly when approached, but not particularly outgoing, A'tide forms opinions of people quickly, and first impressions are very important to him--if you mess up your first meeting with him, he doesn't usually give second chances. He has a short temper and gets offended easily, which means he's gotten in more than one fight in the past, though it rarely turns physical. Not that he can't hold his own in a fistfight, but A'tide fights dirty since he can't rely on sight.
He dislikes bullies, though, so he will eagerly stand up to someone to protect others, and he is generous with his belongings, often giving his creations away for free. He enjoys making things, from clothing and leather goods, to pottery and sculptures, just about anything he can get his hands on and manipulate. None of it is craft-quality, since he doesn't have formal training and learned all he knows from the local crafters, but most of it is certainly good enough to be used locally in the Weyr, and tends to be lot cheaper too, so he gets a lot of requests from the other Weyrfolk, which he is happy to do.
He isn't much of a flirt, and overall doesn't show much interest in romance at all, but he is content that way and prefers to have time to himself. He has a fondness for animals, especially canines like Zexx, and he has always had a fascination for dragons as well, though he spent most of his life not really believing he would ever Impress. He regards whers as just inferior "replacements" for dragons and doesn't have a high opinion of them, but overall he's satisfied with his life. Family (if any) Father-A'res, Rider of Brown Kuchanth Mother-Feristi, Weyrworker No siblings
Location Trelis Weyr, now Obsidian Rebellion Rank Weyrling
History Aristide was born in Trelis Weyr, one of many weyrbrats with a dragonrider for a parent. His father is A'res, a brownrider, and his mother is one of the women who works in the lower caverns, a former candidate who failed to Impress but stuck around the Weyr after she aged out. His parents' relationship lasted for some seven years after his birth, but eventually came to an amiable end. A'res had always been a sort of distant man, but he was thrilled to learn he was having a son.
Aristide was very young when he became sick, too young to even remember the fever that came over him, but it nearly killed him and took his sight. He has no more than dim memories of seeing more than light and darkness. As he grew older and it became clear that his sight was not going to come back, his mother became resigned to the fact that he would likely rise no higher than a drudge.
His father did not want to accept that, though. Aristide had already shown an interest in helping some of the crafters make their goods, and A'res did everything he could to encourage this. Furthermore, when Aristide was thirteen, the brownrider bought a female canine pup and gave it to his son as a gift. He also helped Aristide to train the canine, named Aleksi, to help him move around the Weyr more easily.
Obviously, being blind, Aristide never stood for a dragon's clutch, and though his father suggested he try out for a wher, Aristide rejected the idea. He still lives in Trelis, spending most of his time either helping crafters with their work, crafting objects of his own, or doing other drudge-level tasks.
He managed to inadvertently impress a lunar huntyre, which he named Kaleo. The male is more of an annoyance than a help to him, but Aristide puts up with him anyway. A few months ago, Aleksi had her last litter of pups, and Aristide decided to keep one of the males to take over Aleksi's job. It was apparently just in time as well, for the pups were hardly weaned before Aleksi grew sick and died. Aristide has been training Zexx to replace her, though they still have a lot of work to do.
With the death of the Senior Queen, the state of things at Trelis began to decline, and when S'vrin and Ar'rex took command, Aristide had already all but decided to leave and make himself useful to the rebellion. After Impressing an obsidian fire lizard from an egg bought at the winter gather, things at Trelis began to change, and after a particularly heated argument with a rider, Aristide decided it was time for him to leave Trelis and join the Rebellion. He took Zexx and Regal and got a ride on a ship headed for Rindell Island.
For a while his daily life was much the same as it had been at Trelis, though he did meet a surprisingly friendly garnet named Aeurosth and his rider Rox. He also began thinking perhaps he had a chance at Impression after all, since everything else on Pern seemed to be changing, and when the Rebellion's first clutch began to hatch, he attended from the stands. That didn't stop the wingless green Ninianeth from finding him, however, and the blind human and mutated green took turns reassuring each other that they were fine with each other. Pet:Name Kaleo Pronunciation KAH-lee-oh Age 3 turns Type Huntyre Rank Lunar Size 1 foot Color Codes Body-7A8B8B Beak and Feet-2F4F4F Personality/Appearance Kaleo's definitely on the small side, even for a lunar, but when he's grown, he'll be quite acrobatic in the air. His body is one solid shade of silvery grey, with plumes that are almost the same shade as the rest of his body. His beak and feet are both much darker, though.
Kaleo's a complete and total drama-queen. He is never happy unless people are showering him with attention, and he has quite a short temper when they're not. He's quite unlike most Lunars, who tend to be shy and submissive--Kaleo's outgoing, curious, and headstrong. He's also surprisingly feminine, not just in appearance but personality as well. He is as prone to vanity and preening as any Forest and rather flighty as well. Name Regal Pronunciation REE-gall Age 9 months Type Fire Lizard Rank Obsidian Size 34 inches Personality/Appearance Regal is a rather slender-looking flit with a very feminine build. She has particularly long, slender wings and a long tail that she tends to use almost like a prehensile limb--it's usually wrapped around A'tide's wrist or neck for balance, or else to hold something in place which she is interested in. In length, she is pretty much directly in the middle of the size range for obsidians.
In personality, Regal certainly lives up to her name. She is generally quiet and somewhat solitary, but she is poised and commanding in her mannerisms, almost lady-like, in fact. She can be a bit cold toward most people and tends to take a while to warm up to anyone, but she is calm and mild-mannered around strangers and other flits. She is blunt and quite matter-of-fact, but as confident and self-assured as any queen, and she is not hesitant to give the cold shoulder to those she disapproves of. Name Zexx Pronunciation Zecks Age 1 turn Type Canine Rank N/A Size Large Color Codes Body-0C0C0C Markings-C16513 Personality/Appearance Zexx is fairly average in size, but he's about the same height as his mother, though with a broader, thicker build. His fur is a deep, glossy black with a lighter brown color on his muzzle and chin, neck, chest, and belly. He also has brown on his front legs, up to the elbow, and on his back legs, to the ankle.
Zexx can be a stubborn and determined canine around most people, but he always listens to A'tide. He is rather aloof and doesn't care much for the attention of strangers; he'll tend to ignore people, even when "off-duty" and he's not particularly affectionate. He is intelligent and very clever for a canine and picks up things quickly. He can be a bit overly exuberant at times, but he's young yet--he'll grow out of that. DragonName: Ninianeth Pronunciation: Nine-E-an-eth Age: 0 months Type: Dragon Rank: Green Size: 25.2 feet full growth Mutations: Wingless, Fins Color Codes: 28ae7b 6afb92 92cca6 c3fdb8
Appearance: Compared to most dragons, Ninianeth is almost serpent-like, very long and thin, with a slender build and long neck and tail. Her legs are somewhat short but still well-proportioned, and she has little trouble moving around on land. Her paws have small fin-like structures at the elbow and ankle joints, and she has similar fins along her ridge at the forked tips of her tail. The most striking feature of this green is her total lack of wings, something she gets annoyed about when it draws so much unwelcome attention.
'Neth's hide is a light blue-tinged green the color of seaweed, though she has faint, irregular markings in a paler shade on her chest, belly, and the underside of her tail. The paler coloring is also noticable on her front claws. Her only other marking is a strange ring-like marking around her eyes, with thin lines extending out from it like sun-rays, both in a brighter and more pure green.
Personality: For all that A'tide will insist that he does not need a protector or a mother, Ninianeth will never quite believe it. She is an extremely protective dragon who is convinced it is her job to look over her rider, protecting him from the harsher opinions in the world, as he does for her when it comes to her own winglessness. Even if A'tide never appreciates it, she'll just keep on trying. She is exceptionally stubborn as well, not the sort to admit she is wrong easily, and very determined. She hates to give up, viewing it as a weakness in herself and proof of her own helplessness. This makes her a very hard-working dragoness who wants to prove herself to others. She is brave in the face of danger--perhaps a little too brave, sometimes, when there are people watching, and she is not always as careful as she should be.
She likes to act tough, 'Neth does, and is always the first to announce that she and A'tide are the best, and no one else's opinions matter. She isn't exactly malignant or vicious, but she doesn't always realize her own strength and scariness and sometimes is more intimidating than she means to be. She is a little vain as well, always showing off her freshly-oiled hide and her swimming skills, and she is not shy at all about asking the male dragons if they think she's beautiful. This toughness and devil-may-care attitude is largely an act, however. She is constantly worrying about how others see her and wants to prove to them she can be useful. She doesn't like to show how much it bothers her that she is wingless.
'Neth isn't shy about talking to other dragons, even bossing them around if she possibly thinks she can get away with it, but she is not as chatty around humans and refuses to talk directly to any human unless they've earned her respect. She'll be sure to tell them how much of an honor it is she's chosen to talk to them when she does so. She tends to ignore animals, not particularly fond nor distrustful of them, but she took an immediate dislike to Zexx--she sees the guide-dog as a rival for A'tide's affections and thinks the canine is doing what should be her job, nevermind that she's already proved to be a very bad guide even when she can accompany her rider.
Mind-Voice (If applicable):
--I do not care what the others think. I only need you. Together, Mine, we will be better. I could put a Queen to shame if I tried.
-- I will protect you. I can not let a person hurt you. You can be upset and testy, but you are Mine. I will be your guardian. We are strange to everyone, but we are strong.
-- Don't do that! I know what I am doing, and you should listen. We are best Mine. Even if I cannot flame thread, I am useful.
-- I am pretty. I am rght Mine? I know you cannot see... but you love me?
-- Just let me show you this image! I can be your eyes, Mine!! Ninianeth has a very deep (at least for a female) voice. She is quite persuasive and commanding really. She constantly is praising Hers, and telling him over and over how perfect they are for each other.
Name B'den (Bryden before Impression) Pronunciation bih-DEN (BRIGH-den) Age 22 Season Born in Fall, 182nd turn of Interval Gender Male Sexuality Heterosexual Appearance B'den always tries to appear prim and proper, all his clothes neat and clean, and tailor-made to fit his slim form. When in motion he is graceful and walks quickly as though he is always in a hurry, but when standing or sitting, his back is always rigidly straight. His face is oval, tending towards squarish, with striking features and a large, aquiline nose.
His eyes are narrow and pale brown in color, though depending on how the light hits them, they may appear more golden than brown. His skin is naturally a pale cream that tans well, though it typically remains pale since he spends most of his free time indoors, and he has few scars or other physical blemishes on his body. His hair is dark brown in color, thin and fine and soft, almost feathery in texture, but always neatly combed and kept just a few inches long at most. Personality B'den has always had a particular fascination with history and reads pretty much anything he can get his hands on, no matter how dry and boring it may seem. Knowledge is power, to his mind, and you never know when some dry fact you found in the records may come in handy. Fortunately, he has a very good memory for what he's read.
Unsurprisingly, B'den is extremely ambitious and eager to prove himself. Thanks to his father's prodding, he aims to reach the top of whatever career he chooses, whether it's in the Harper Hall or a Weyr as a dragonrider. Hard-working and dedicated, he gets his tasks done quickly and efficiently. He holds himself up to high standards, and though he rarely disappoints himself, he holds everyone else up to those same standards, and he isn't accustomed to giving leeway, which means he often gets frustrated if someone works slower than he does. He is a bit of a perfectionist and sometimes he would rather wear himself out doing every little thing his own way rather than rely on others.
While he used to be pretty accepting with a tendency to take things at face value, since he broke away from his father he has become a bit less trusting and he prefer to form his own unbiased opinions as best he can. He can be a cunning, shrewd person in his attempts to gather as much power as he can, whether its in the form of wealth or influence or a dragon of his own. He is also generous, though, and he thinks nothing of using the power he has to assist others who ask for his help. The opinions of others--particularly his superiors--is always on B'den's mind, and he takes care to see that nobody has anything to complain about concerning his behavior.
He is usually outgoing if not particularly friendly, but he is extremely polite and well-mannered. He is plenty good at networking and making acquaintances and alliances, but when it comes to true friendship, he's somewhat less experienced--the same is true for romantic relationships. He tends to avoid close relationships. Unlike his father, he is a romantic daydreamer and is holding out for that one true love, but at the same time, he would probably be too busy with his other work to recognize it when it comes. Family (if any) Father: Bryterik, Master Harper Mother: Gedeina, Holder No siblings (that he knows of)
Location Harper Hall, then Telgar Weyr, then Trelis Weyr, the Obsidian Rebellion Rank Weyrling/Journeyman Harper Wing/Pack TOR Weyrling's Wing
History Bryden was born when a then-journeyman harper seduced a local holder girl and got her with child. They had no relationship beyond that, and it was a few months after Bryden's birth that Bryterik realized he had a son. The girl, Gedeina, came to him tearfully with her child--a recent sickness had devastated most of her family and neighbors and she feared she would no longer be able to take of the baby on her own. Bryterik managed to convince her to hand their son over to his care so the boy would get a proper education in the Harper Hall. Once his father was promoted to a Master Harper a few turns later and they returned to the Harper Hall, Bryden never saw his mother again.
Bryterik was infamously resentful of the dragonriders and often spoke out against them. Whether it was from a misplaced sense of a jealousy or fear or something else, Bryden never knew and never really questioned it; he was raised on the rhetoric that draonriders were lazy, greedy people who would be the downfall of Pern, and for the first fourteen turns of his life, he parroted his father's words about the dragons.
Having always planned for Bryden to follow in his own footsteps, his father made sure he was entered into an apprenticeship at the Harper Hall as soon as he turned eleven. Having had a fascination with the records from an early age, Bryden did not mind this, even though he showed no particular talent at the craft. Even though his overall performance was average, Bryden worked hard and developed a particularly good skill with the stringed instruments, and he strove to do his best and make his father proud.
For the first few turns of his apprenticeship, he accepted his father's views on life without question, and it was not uncommon for him to get into fights with visiting riders--or, more often, their weyrbrats. His turn-around was gradual--there was no single great epiphany, but over time he began to pay more attention to the riders and dragons themselves and listened to what other people had to say, and he began to change his mind. Bryden realized that perhaps his father wasn't right after all. After his fourteenth birthday, he stopped getting into fights with dragonriders--instead, he started arguing with his father more and more. Neither was willing to listen to the other and Bryterik saw what his son was saying as nothing less than a betrayal.
Bryden very well may have walked the tables earlier than eighteen if the two of them had learned to cooperate, but as it was, he was promoted to a journeyman harper after seven turns as an apprentice. By then, he was so fed up with dealing with his father that he requested to be sent away from the hall immediately. Just to twist the knife in further, it was suggested he go to Telgar Weyr, and Bryden readily agreed. Shortly after he arrived at the Weyr, he was searched by one of the blueriders. Though still a bit hesitant, he finally agreed and stood as a candidate for the next clutch on the sands. He came away from that clutch unImpressed, and after an unwelcome visit from his father, he requested to be transferred to another Weyr clear on the other side of Pern. Thus, he ended up at Trelis to stand for the Senior Queen's clutch. He's still not quite sure what to think about the new colors, but he is open-minded and willing to take whatever he can get.
Loraketh's clutch hatched late at night, and Bryden witnessed the killing of one newly-Impressed candidate and the mauling of another hatchling by Trelis's first Blacklight, before Kohenkyoth found him at the back of the crowd and demanded to be fed. Though the green was certainly not what he had expected when he decided to stand, she is as ambitious and eager to get ahead as he is, and he doesn't regret it in the least.
He started hearing word of the rebellion early on, and not being one to ever be satisfied as a "normal greenrider," he was interested from the beginning. Shortly after Loraketh betweened, the rebellion began to grow and B'den and Kohenkyoth went to join it in the hopes of finding a home where dragon color didn't matter. Craft Harper Ranking Journeyman Strengths Stringed Instruments, History and Record-keeping Weaknesses Singing, little interest in other instruments PetsName: Dione Pronunciation: dye-OH-nay Age: 6 months Type: firelizard Rank: Gold Size: 37 inches full grown Appearance: Dione is quite small for a gold fire lizard, even at hatching, and will remain on the small end of the scale throughout her life. She is a thin body and delicate, almost dainty features, with long claws. Her hide is a deep mustard gold color, with deeper gold markings around her extremities which change abruptly to a pale gold on her legs, tail, wing edges, and neck.
Personality: Dione is not what you'd typically expect from a queen fire lizard. Rather than being brash and bossy, this gold is actually quite shy, and hates being stared at or otherwise made the center of attention. She is quite gentle and loving with other fire lizards as well as B'den, and she gets along with most humans, though she tends to ignore dragons. She has a strong maternal instinct and gets quite protective of her children, and occasionally B'den as well. She is not as confident as most queens and is constantly looking to the greenrider for comfort and reassurance. She can be quite demanding of attention and dislikes being ignored. Name: Metrodora Pronunciation: MEH-troh-DOOR-uh Age: 6 months Type: Huntyre Rank: Forest Size: 1.4 feet full grown Appearance: A large and somewhat stocky huntyre, this forest will grow up to be one of the larger samples of her rank, and powerfully built as well. While her base color is a deep olive green with brownish tints, she has bands of a much brighter green on her wings, tail, neck and head that make her stand out.
Personality: Very unlike Dione, Metrodora is quite the outgoing huntyre who loves to have others' eyes on her. She is somewhat arrogant, but flashy and definitely a showoff with her aerial displays. She doesn't like to be alone and particularly dislikes the dark; she tends to gather bright, reflective objects in her 'nest' that can catch the tiniest sources of light. She also has a thing for mirrors, unsurprisingly. DragonPictures by Zirin Name Kohenkyoth Pronunciation Koh-hen-key-awth Age 2 turns Type Dragon Rank Green Size24.5 feet Color Codes Base: 849e46 Marking 1: c1e19b Marking 2: 466118
Appearance Kohenkyoth will one day be among the larger greens in the Weyr. However, despite her size she is an extraordinarily slender creature, if a bit oddly shaped. Her hind thighs seem large compared to the rest of her, a trait that will remain her entire life. Her hind legs will allow her to make swift, powerful take offs, allowing her to be in the air much faster than many of her brethren. Her midsection, however, is so thin that she almost looks malnourished. She has long limbs, wings included, and will be quite agile in the air, able to quickly outdistance her sisters in straight flight. Her maneuverability, however, is lacking, and she will have some troubles with the harder tricks aerial tricks. On the ground, she moves almost awkwardly, hindered by her large hind legs.
Her hide is a soft, olive green with light hints of yellow on her otherwise solid hide. A pale green marks the tips of her wing fingers, head knobs and tail. The toes of her front feet are dipped in the pale green, and the same colour can be seen up to the knees on her hind legs. An almost mane-like marking rinks the area where her head and neck meet, and trails down to blend in with her pale belly. She has three sections of darker green on her body. The first and most obvious are the almost sleeve-like markings on her front legs, reaching from wrist to elbow. On her thigh is a marking reminiscent of her own egg, two dots with curved tails seem to chase each other around on both thighs. A thin line of dark green lines the bottom of her eyes. Her claws are a striking black against the light markings on her feet.
Personality If there is one thing Kohekyoth does not tolerate, it is incompetence. A bronze in green hide, Kohenkyoth believes she can do anything she sets her mind to, and she’ll do it better than the one everyone believes is more qualified. She’s a hard worker, highly intelligent for a green, is able to easily grasp difficult concepts and has an excellent memory. It will be rare to see her doing anything other than training or learning in some way; even her sleeping hours seem to be spent with training on the brain. She is the type of dragon who never needs something repeated twice (and if she does she’ll deny it with all her heart). In most situations, Kohenkyoth is calm, cool, and collected and it takes a fair bit of effort to make her lose her composure. A proud dragoness, Kohenkyoth has high standards and even higher goals. She dreams of leading others and proving that greens are not just small incapable dragons. As far as flirting goals, she will only do it if she believes it will help her move up the ladder, but otherwise tends to think of males is useless distractions.
Mind-Voice: We will not succeed by hanging back, B'den. We must move forward with pride and confidence. Do not let the doubts of others hamper your goals. Though her voice is definitely feminine, the tone is deeper and more masculine than one might expect from a green. Always full of confidence, pride, and determination, her voice never wavers and never fails. Most of the time her voice is calm but strong, easily heard without being intrusive or loud. During moments of extreme emotion, the volume of her voice may increase, but the core sound of it never changes. Even in the best of times, Kohenkyoth is not a very chatty dragon, preferring to keep her words, few as they are, to her rider. Conversations with other dragons are rarely started by her, but she will answer to anyone who speaks to her, though her responses are more on the blunt side.
Why: Many will say I have standards and goals that are much too 'high' for a green. Too bad for them. I will overcome adversity and these prejudices and prove how capable I am. I cannot do this alone however... I need someone to stand by me, and I believe that is you. I like your ambition. I think we can become a powerful pair, don't you?

*Saira and Zamanth were killed while fighting Threadfall in the 204th Turn of Trelis* Name Saira Pronunciation SIGH-rah
Age 23 turns Season Born in Winter
Gender Female Sexuality Heterosexual
Appearance Saira is neither tall nor short, but comfortably in the middling range for a woman. Her build tends towards the skinny side with little extraneous body fat, though she has lean, strong muscles as well from turns of hard work. As a result, her body is not particularly curvy or feminine, giving her a rather androgenous appearance.
This effect is only heightened by the short, often messy cut of her hair. It's quite boyish, only an inch or two long, with a slightly longer fringe that hangs over her face and obscures her dark brown eyes. Her hair is rather thin and very straight; it's a warm auburn shade, brown with reddish tints to it. The shape of her face is a bit more feminine, somewhat rounded with a small, upturned nose.
She has pale skin that burns easily in the sunlight; she tends to wear multiple layers of clothing in all but the hottest weather. She is not the type to dress to impress, and the majority of her wardrobe is rather plain and modest in cut.
Personality Saira is a very energetic and active person; she works hard and likes to be useful to others. She thrives on the praise of people she admires and is basically a perfect little minion. She is diligent and dedicated to her work, though not the type really to show off; she's not necessarily self-conscious, but she doesn't like to draw more attention to herself than needed.
She is extremely loyal to anyone who gains her trust, and to be honest, she's not particularly picky about who she gives it to. She falls in love easily, particularly if it's the rider of whoever last caught Zamanth, and she is really quite the hopeless romantic. She's very susceptable to flirting, even though she has wound up hurt in the past as a result. She wants to believe the best of people and is an optomist, but she can also be naive and gullible.
Her easy attachment sometimes makes her come off as needy and demanding of attention, though. She does not like to be alone ever, and she gets nervous easily. She'll often go to a friend for comfort at those times rather than Zamanth, who favors a tough love approach, but this can get tiring for other people quickly. While she is at least partially aware of that, she doesn't really see a need yet to change her ways and become braver and more independant.

History Saira was born in Sollace Hold before the start of the New Fall, some thirty turns after the founding of Trelis. Her grandparents had been among the first settlers of the Hold, and her parents were both raised there, though Farm-and Beast-crafting both ran in the family. Saira's father had a small farm of his own in Sollace Hold, and they were fairly successful, despite the large number of children running around underfoot. She was a middle child, with older siblings as well as younger, and for the most part, she got along well with them and the other children in the Hold.
She became interested in dragons at a young age--something that never really left her. Her first experience with dragonriders was when searchriders from Trelis came to visit. Even though she was much too young at the time to stand, she got to meet her first dragon. A few turns later, she recieved a medium-sized fire lizard egg for her tenth birthday. It hatched into a brown, which she named Comet.
It was another five turns after that when the searchriders from Trelis came again. This time she was old enough to become a candidate, and she eagerly accepted the chance to go with them. Though she stood for the next clutch, it wasn't until she was nearing twenty turns old that she managed to Impress. She was standing for the senior queen's latest clutch when a lovely green dragonet strode over to her.
My name is Zamanth, SairaMine. I am very hungry, can we please eat now? The green was demanding, but Saira loved every minute they spent together. Their weyrling training was uneventful, with the pair neither excelling or falling behind. When she rose for the first time, however, she was caught by a blue clutchmate; his rider was already a friend of Saira and it seemed natural for them to become weyrmates, and they stayed together until Saira and Zamanth disappeared from Trelis.
The two of them graduated shortly before the start of the New Fall, and they joined the lower wing. When the plans were made for the Trelis riders to jump forward in time to introduce Trelis to the rest of Pern, Saira was supposed to go with them, and had every intention of doing so. Unfortunately, they were still inexperienced with timing it, and they badly misjudged the jump. They overshot their target time by about two hundred turns, ending up in present day Trelis Weyr in the middle of the Gather.
Saira left behind everyone she ever knew, including her family, her weyrmate, and her fire lizard (Comet never reappeared with Zamanth, and she assumes he either stayed in the past or was lost between). She's slightly overwhelmed by everything that's changed in two centuries. Not only has Trelis become a fully-fledged Weyr, but new colors she's never heard of are becoming commonplace and the number of mutations in dragonkin is climbing. The scariest part is probably this sinister rebellion she's heard so much about lately, led by dragonriders, no less. Pern has become a frightening place, but she's slowly getting used to it. DragonName Zamanth Pronunciation ZAH-manth Age 3 turns Type Dragon Rank Green Size 24 feet Color Codes Base color: 022400 Markings: 044C00
Appearance Zamanth is on the large end of the scale for a green, though not abnormally so, as she measures just over twenty-four feet. Her build is bulky and muscular, not exactly feminine, though she is a strong flyer and a graceful mover on the ground. Her hide is not as showy as some other dragons; it's a pretty uniform dark green in color over her entire body. The only variation in color are the lighter, but still deep green speckles along the back of her neck and spine.
Personality Zamanth is...not exactly friendly, but outgoing. Though she is not necessarily the easiest dragon to get along with, she enjoys making conversation and being around other dragons--as long as they're "normal," anyway. However, the idea of speaking to humans other than Saira is anathema to her. She makes friends easily, as she actively tries to be liked by other dragons and tries to make a good first impression.
One downside of this is that she does love to gossip, though, and she can be entirely too talkative. It's virtually impossible for her to keep secrets; she wants too badly to tell people what they're not supposed to know, and she shows her emotions too readily to keep her own secrets. She has a rather short temper and is not patient when dealing with Saira's problems; she is not a comforting or sympathetic dragon, though she deals with issues in a calm and sensible manner. She is very blunt and pragmatic in her dealings with others, especially compared to Saira's idealism.
Zamanth can also be a vengeful dragon; she does not necessarily get offended easily, but when she is, she does not forgive easily--preferably not until she's extracted a pound of flesh for every offense. She is also extremely set in her ways and has a severe dislike of change, or anything new. Naturally, she tends to not get along as well with the new colors and mutations and has an almost instinctual distrust of them.
Mind-voice (If applicable) We must take care of ourselves now, Saira, not rely on the kindness of others. Zamanth's mind-voice is low and harsh, brimming with barely suppressed emotion most of the time, though if she's in a good mood, it becomes slightly softer and more rhythmic, almost bell-like.

Name M'ril (Malaril) Pronunciation (MAL-ah-rill) Age 18 turns Season Born in Spring, 185th turn of Interval Gender Male Sexuality Heterosexual Appearance M'ril is a bit short for a boy his age, with a long-limbed, lanky build that sort of makes him look like a stick. It's clear he still has some growing to do, despite nearing his twenties; he's very skinny with fair, freckled skin. His hair is a very dark brown and loosely curled, reaching no further than his ears and the nape of his neck. Most noticeable are his eyes--a very pale, striking icy blue color. His clothes are generally clean but often wrinkled and unkempt, and there are several scars on his hands and arms from the careless use of knives. Personality M'ril is a bit too serious for his own good, with no sense of humor. Though he is friendly when approached, he is too much of an introvert to make friends easily and spends a lot of time on his own. He is quite blunt, with a tendency to say whatever is on his mind, which makes him seem somewhat impolite.
Though not completely honest, Mal is a bad liar and more often than not will do the right thing and will try to fix his own mistakes. He is usually pretty responsible, though he has an active imagination that tends to make his mind wander. When this happens as he is cooking or handling knives, it tends to lead to scars. Despite his accident-prone nature, he is actually a pretty good cook given the chance.
Having not had many friends growing up, M'ril can seem rather stingy and selfish, though he is not malicious. He is willing to help others, though, and is generally more giving with his time than his belongings. He dislikes small, dark spaces, but is usually too calm and cool-headed to panic. He does, however, have an intense fear of the open water and sailing. Family Father: Val'syn of Brown Orunth (deceased at 32) Mother: Merylla, Journeywoman Healer, 47 Brother: Meldran, Journeyman Smith, 25 Brother: Ryden, Apprentice Beastcraft (deceased at 12)
Location Point Hold, then Southern Weyr, now the Obsidian Rebellion Rank Rebelrider
History Malaril was born and raised in Point Hold. While his father was a dragonrider, his mother is a Journeywoman Healer stationed in the Hold, as she was reluctant to leave the Hold for the Weyr. While they received infrequent visits from him, he passed away from an illness when Mal was six. He grew up with two older half-brothers from his mother's previous affairs, though he was much closer to one than the other.
The oldest brother, Meldran, never got along well with Mal and tended to bully his younger brothers when they were younger. The middle brother, Ryden, was closer to Mal and usually the one who defended him from Meldran. Tragedy struck when Mal was nine and Ryden twelve; the three brothers were traveling on a ship when a storm began to stir. Ryden and Mal continued to hang around the edge of the ship, despite Meldran's warnings to get away. Neither brother paid any attention to him, and a sudden particularly strong wave washed Ryden overboard. Though Malaril raised the alarm and the sailors tried to save him, Ryden drowned in the water and only his body was recovered.
Meldran blamed their brother's death on Malaril; in fact, the first words he spoke once he learned of Ryden's death was that he wished it had been Mal. The bullying only got worse after that, especially since Mal didn't fight back nearly as often as before. Meldran had convinced him at least partially that he was responsible for Ryden's death--oh, he may say it was a blameless accident when asked, but deep down, he doesn't really believe it.
As an attempt to make amends, Malaril decided to become a healer as soon as he was old enough. With his mother being a crafter, it wasn't difficult for him to be accepted, though he was never particularly enthralled with the craft. He is good with animals, and to tell the truth would probably do better as a beasthealer or even dragonhealer.
The next important thing to happen to him was two turns ago, when a clutch of fire lizard eggs was found by a local Hold boy. Even though Mal wasn't offered one of the eggs, he was desperate for a flitter of his own and he managed to slip in and steal one of the smaller eggs. It hatched into a small ebony flit, which he named Rynoc. Though he inevitably got in trouble for it, the fire lizard had already Impressed him, so there wasn't a lot that could be done about it.
Rynoc was only a little over a sevenday old when searchriders from Southern Weyr came by. One of the greens Searched Mal, and he eagerly agreed to stand for the clutch. Though he had heard of the mutated dragons and new colors, he had never seen any among the actual dragons themselves until the clutch hatched. He certainly hadn't expected to Impress one, but a strange blue and purple and silver dragon hatched, and it didn't take Rahath long to find Mal. The bigger shock to M'ril was probably that his dragon was a female!
The lazuli dragon and rider spent their early days of weyrlinghood in Southern, but it was anything but pleasant. Few riders in the Weyr were sympathetic to the mutations, and the fact that Rahath is (as far as M'ril is aware) unique did not help matters. The hatred and teasing directed at Rahath and M'ril's own inability to make friends among his fellow weyrlings ensured that he had no reservations about joining the Rebellion. When recruiters snuck into the Weyr and showed him and Rahath how to escape and go between to Rindell, they were eager to join.
It's been about a turn since they joined the Rebellion. Though M'ril and Rahath have fought Thread and participated in the Rebellion's battle against Trelis, they have only had minor injuries. M'ril and Rahath happened to discover an abandoned canine pup on Rindell Island one day, and after failing to find the original owner, M'ril was reluctantly talked into taking care of her by an enthusiastic Rahath. He named the canine Ayumu, and she has been with him ever since. Pets:Pic by Kitsuneko Name Rynoc Pronunciation RYE-knock Age 2 turns Type Fire Lizard Rank Ebony Size 16 inches Color Codes 333333 Personality/Appearance Rynoc is a fairly small ebony, though not unusually so for one of his color. He has a round body and short, stumpy limbs that give him a compact appearance. His body is a single, dull shade of dark grey with no markings of any kind.
Rynoc is a very shy flitter who rarely approaches people on his own initiative. He isn't much better with other fire lizards, and lets himself be bossed around by any flit larger than him and even many who are smaller. He is very affectionate and loving towards Mal, though, and picks up emotions easily. Pic by Kitsuneko Name Ayumu Pronunciation ae-YOO-moo Age 9 months Type Canine Size Medium Color Codes D2A76F to FCF1E3 Personality/Appearance Ayumu is a canine who was clearly bred for a colder climate. She is medium-sized with short, pointed ears and a pointed muzzle, and her tail curls up and over to rest on her back. Her fur is naturally very thick and fluffy, with a tendency to shed--M'ril has to keep it trimmed short and take steps to make sure she does not overheat in Rindell's tropical climate. Her eyes are a pale blue, and her fur is mostly an off-white shade which darkens to a light tan, generally on her ears, back and sides, and the top half of her tail.
Ayumu is a very friendly and outgoing canine. Her abandonment early in life does not seem to have affected her trust in humans, and she enjoys greeting strangers. She is particularly good with children and enjoys playing with them or anyone else. She can be quite energetic as well, but intelligent and easily trained. She is a little skittish and is scared easily by loud sounds, but she recovers quickly. Rahath is very fond of her and Ayumu is perfectly relaxed around the lazuli, but tends to stay away from most other dragons. DragonPic by Kitsuneko Name Rahath Pronunciation raw-HATH Age 2 turns Type Dragon Rank Lazuli Size 17' long Color Codes Base body: 25266E Highlights: 6B6CA1 Belly, chin, tail and wings: 4314A9
Appearance Rahath is quite small for a dragon, smaller than a green and even most amethysts, at only seventeen feet long, though she's clearly reached her full growth. She has a very long, slender, almost snake-like build, with long, angled wings that make her quite fast and agile in the air.
Her hide is rather striking; the base is a deep, somewhat silvery blue, but with lighter silver-blue, almost metallic highlights. The hide fades to a more purplish blue shade on her chin and belly, the underside of her neck and tail, and the thinnest parts of her wingsails. It wouldn't be too easy to mistake her for a blue, even if she wasn't female.
Personality Rahath would no doubt have made a doting mother, but since she is sterile and a thread-flamer, she has diverted all her mothering instincts to taking care of M'ril. She can be quite smothering, actually, but though M'ril may find it annoying on occasion, he doesn't really mind.
The lazuli is rather shy and nervous, especially around strange dragons, due to her own bullying as a weyrling. Though she'll never be outgoing, she is fairly friendly once someone has gained her trust, and she hates to see others in pain. She is quite sensitive to the feelings of others, and a particularly empathetic dragon. She likes to be a comfort and a help to others, but lacks the self-confidence to stand up for her own needs.
Mind-voice (If applicable) Mine, do you need any help? Rahath's voice is surprisingly low and deep for such a small dragon, with a harsh, throaty undercurrent. It's not necessarily unpleasant to listen to, though few people get the chance; she's reluctant to speak to humans and rarely talks to other dragons.

Name Tesla Pronunciation TESS-lah Age 30 turns Season Born in Fall, 174th turn of Interval Gender Female Sexuality Heterosexual Appearance Tesla is a bit taller than average, but definitely on the heavy side, build wise. She is strong and thicker than average in build, with well-defined muscles. Hence, she's not very curvy or feminine, and she often prefers to dress in men's clothes, or at least in a more masculine fashion.
Her face also tends a bit more to the masculine, with a large nose, thick lips, and a round face. Her skin is naturally a creamy color but usually tanned, as Tesla does enjoy spending a lot of time outside when the weather is nice. She has rather large, wide eyes which are a deep brown in color. Her hair is thick and somewhat curly, though long enough to be tied back in a braid or bun, as it usually is. It is a golden blonde shade, with just a few hints of brown coloring. Personality Shy and quiet, Tesla prefers not to stand out in a crowd, with a few exceptions. She has always been braver when her brother is around, and she enjoys showing off her singing voice as well. She is more comfortable around children than adults, and enjoys being a teacher. She is certainly the less outgoing twin, though she is close to her siblings. She has always been closest to Teyla, to an almost unhealthy extent--not in an incestuous sort of way, just very codependent.
She does not like to be on her own, and she doesn't do particularly well in a position of leadership; she very much prefers to follow orders and do what she's told. Tesla does open up a bit more once she gets to know someone, but she'll never be really outgoing, and she doesn't see anything wrong with that.
She loves music and particularly singing, which is about the only time she will deliberately draw attention to herself. Since she has several dragonriding siblings, she has no fear of dragons, but she is not obsessive over them either, and she never had any particular want to be searched, content to be a harper with her brother. While she is not entirely sure what to think about the mutations (and Serkan's not helping), she is definitely against what the rebellion is doing. Family Istelborn: Father, 61, Holder Krayla: Mother, 62, Journeywoman Harper Istakray: Brother, 41, Holder Istella: Sister, 40, Holder Iskra: Sister, 38, Rider of Gold Maeleth Kreysa: Sister, 36, Journeywoman Healer Kr'ton: Brother, 34, Rider of Blue Selorth Teyla: Twin Brother, 30, Journeyman Harper B'ran: Nephew, 15, Weyrling of Ebony Blasieth
Location Apolla Hold, now Trelis Weyr Rank Journeywoman Harper/Weyrling
History Tesla's mother was a journeywoman harper who met her father when she was stationed at Apolla Hold. Once it became clear Krayla was pregnant, though, she decided to resign from the Harper Crafthall and settle down to be the wife of a holder. Their first born child was a son, but they had many more children. The youngest were a pair of fraternal twins, Tesla and her brother Teyla.
Though Tesla was reasonably close to all of her siblings, her favorite was Teyla, perhaps unsurprisingly, with her older sister Iskra coming in a distant second. Though their parents didn't necessarily encourage them, Tesla and Teyla did everything and went everywhere together as they grew up. Tesla was always notably quieter and more introverted than her brother, and never really made many other friends; her siblings seemed to be company enough for her.
Though the twins were still quite young when Iskra left to become an apprentice harper, they received frequent visits from her, and it did not take them long to decide they would both be harpers as well, and join their sister. Things didn't quite turn out as they expected, for it was still years before they could apprentice when Iskra was searched by riders from Trelis Weyr. It turned out okay, though. Tesla and Teyla decided they still liked harpering and apprenticed when they were old enough, and Iskra eventually Impressed a gold dragon.
Tesla and Teyla went to the Harper Crafthall at thirteen. Considering their mother had been a harper, it was unsurprising that they were accepted as apprentices. While Teyla always found the work a little easier, Tesla soon demonstrated a surprisingly lovely singing voice and a talent for writing music. She worked hard, and she and Teyla always took care to help each other out so they could be promoted at the same time. It worked; the twins walked the tables at twenty, and were lucky enough to both be assigned to the same Hold upon becoming Journeymen.
They lived and worked happily there for a number of turns, but it inevitably had to come to an end. A few weeks ago, a new harper was sent to the Hold. At the same time, Trelis Weyr was in need of a new harper as well, so Tesla was sent to Trelis while Teyla stayed behind to help the new harper settle in. Tesla arrived at Trelis Weyr to find that Iskra had since transferred away to another Weyr with her dragon, so she knew nobody there. She was not pleased to leave her twin behind, and it's the first time they've been so far apart.
She did buy a fire lizard egg to ease her loneliness, but she's not entirely sure what to think about the creature that hatched from it. As red as blood and possessing a vicious temper, Serkan is not an easy flitter to take care of. Not to mention the extra tail that just adds to his strangeness. Craft Harper Ranking Journeywoman Strengths Singing, writing music Weaknesses Crafting and playing instruments Pet:Using the flit mutation: Extra tail Pic by Kitsuneko Name Serkan Pronunciation SER-kahn Age 9 months Type Fire Lizard Rank Garnet Size 32 inches Color Codes Base color: 930707 Markings: 60020B Wings: B03542 Personality/Appearance Serkan, like most garnets, has a long, lithe body and a wedge-shaped head. His wings are particularly large, with wing membranes that are a significantly paler than the rest of his hide. The base color of his body is a deep blood red, and he has irregular splotches of darker red over his back and tails--yes, plural, as this fire lizard has two equally long tails.
Perhaps Serkan senses his owner's hesitance with his appearance, but this garnet tends to be even more vicious and ill-tempered than most, and he is not afraid to turn his teeth and claws on Tesla, though more often he'll just slap her lightly with his tails. He is a good deal more friendly around other fire lizards, but he has a tendency to stalk huntyres and distrusts most humans. He'll avoid them entirely, when possible, only coming out when Tesla's alone. DragonImage by Zirin and Bella Name: Syth Pronunciation: Sith Age: 6 months Type: Dragon Rank: Green Size: 21.5 Feet (4.3 Feet at Hatching) Color Codes: aeff00 197b30 005525
Appearance: Like a bird of prey, Syth has a sharp, angular look to her medium-sized body. There is a healthy, natural weight to her form and coupled with her short legs and neck she comes off as a sturdy young dragoness. Her tail is an average length, though her tail fork is longer and thicker than most greens. She makes a striking figure in the air. Her large, angled wings catch thermals and currents with ease and allow her to glide for long periods of time as well as letting her turn on a dime.
Her natural ease in the air is not the only thing that may draw attention to this dragoness. Her hide is a striking, almost painfully bright green with a slight hint of yellow. A darker, mossy green covers her feet, reaching up to her ankles on all feet but her hind left, which spread partway up her knee. Her wing tips, the underside of her tail and most of the tip of her tail are also a mossy green. A stripe of colour stretches from her nose, over her head and along her spine ending partway down her tail. From the line, the dark green also crosses her eye and skirts along her cheek to the underside of her jaw. A small section of her neck is also dark.
If there is one thing to be said about Syth it is that she is a master of endurance, at least for a green dragon. She has a knack for finding and using thermals to her advantage and can usually be seen gliding serenely through the air. There is a grace to the way she moves, even if she is not as skilled on the ground as in the air. When she is resting, Syth has a strange habit of spreading her wings out slightly, as if to offer protection to anyone who sleeps next to her.
Personality: Passive, Quiet, Gentle, Self-conscious, Loving
Syth is, first and foremost, a quiet and gentle green. She’s the kind of dragoness who is content to sit on the sidelines and avoid jumping into new or scary situations. It’s not that she’s a scared dragon, she simply prefers to be the quiet encouragement for the other dragons. A loving green, Syth is always willing to be the shoulder to cry on and the voice whispering words of hope in your ear. Despite her love of supporting her friends, her quiet, passive nature does get in the way from time to time and she sometimes fumbles over her words or can’t draw the nerve to speak up.
This green dragoness is a playful one, surprisingly enough. Though it may take some careful pushing from her rider, once Syth gets involved she puts her heart into any activity. She will never be a very competitive green, but she will do what she can to have fun and be a valuable member of any game of team. The same applies for her willingness to help others. Though she may not physically get involved with helping, she likes to lend her support verbally and she is always willing to listen to the problems of others.
If there’s one thing to say about Syth, it’s that she can be incredibly self-conscious. Her biggest worry is, and always will be, hurting others. The very idea that she could inflict pain on another living thing, mentally or physically, just doesn’t sit well with Syth, and it’s not uncommon to see her become withdrawn if she believes she has hurt someone. Hers will have their hands full bringing her out of her withdrawn state, as she likes to hide away and become ‘invisible’ while she mopes.
Mind-Voice (If applicable): I didn't hurt you... did I? There is a gentle, mothering sound to her voice when Syth is calm. However, in moments of extreme emotion, especially when she fears she has hurt someone, her voice can become quite piercing. Inspiration: Nepthys At the time of the Fifth Dynasty Pyramid Texts, Nephthys appears as a goddess of the Heliopolitan Ennead. She is the sister of Isis and companion of the war-like deity, Set. As sister of Isis and especially Osiris, Nephthys is a protective goddess who symbolizes the death experience, just as Isis represented the (re-)birth experience.
Nephthys was known in some ancient Egyptian temple theologies and cosmologies as the "Useful Goddess" or the "Excellent Goddess". These late Ancient Egyptian temple texts describe a goddess who represented divine assistance and protective guardianship.
Nephthys is regarded as the mother of the funerary-deity Anubis (Inpu) in some myths. Alternatively Anubis appears as the son of Bastet or Isis.
As the primary "nursing mother" of the incarnate Pharaonic-god, Horus, Nephthys also was considered to be the nurse of the reigning Pharaoh himself. Though other goddesses could assume this role, Nephthys was most usually portrayed in this function. In contrast Nephthys is sometimes featured as a rather ferocious and dangerous divinity, capable of incinerating the enemies of the Pharaoh with her fiery breath.
New Kingdom Ramesside Pharaohs, in particular, were enamored of Mother Nephthys, as is attested in various stelae and a wealth of inscriptions at Karnak and Luxor, where Nephthys was a member of that great city's Ennead and her altars were present in the massive complex.
Nephthys was typically paired with her sister Isis in funerary rites because of their role as protectors of the mummy and the god Osiris and as the sister-wife of Seth.
Less well understood than her sister Isis, Nephthys was no less important in Egyptian Religion as confirmed by the work of E. Hornung, along with the work of several noted scholars.
"Ascend and descend; descend with Nephthys, sink into darkness with the Night-bark. Ascend and descend; ascend with Isis, rise with the Day-bark."

Name: B'ran (Bekran) Pronunciation: buh-RAN (BECK-rehn) Age: 15 Season Born In: Summer, 188th Turn of Interval Gender: Male Sexuality: Heterosexual Appearance: When it comes to physical appearance, B'ran takes more after his late father than his mother. His skin is somewhat dark and doesn't tan very noticeably. He is a bit tall for his age and shows every sign of growing even taller as he ages. He is rather thin as well, scrawny even, though again, it seems like something he'll grow out of in a few turns.
He has his father's pale eyes, which are a greyish blue in color. They are wide and large, giving him something of a permanently-surprised look. That said, he did inherit his mother's nose--large and prominent. His features in general tend to be sharp and angular. His hair is a middling brown shade. It's short and rather scruffy, often looking like it hasn't been combed in about a week--which, to be fair, it likely hasn't. He isn't particularly attentive to appearances and prefers comfortable clothes over showy ones. Personality: B'ran is a friendly individual, though he tends to be skittish around strangers ever since his ordeal three turns ago. He's generally outgoing, though, and enjoys being around other people once he's warmed up to them. He gets bored and jittery if he's alone for too long, so often prefers to brave the company of strangers if he doesn't have friends around.
He is quite fond of animals, and though he's never managed to attract a fire lizard, he still hopes to obtain a pet of some kind. Flitter, huntyre, feline, whatever, he's not picky. In fact, he'll probably end up with several. He has trouble saying no to a creature in need and grows attached fast. Coming from a dragonriding family, it's unsurprising that B'ran is quite impressed with the dragons as well, and is particularly fond of mutations of all types, especially since he rides one now. Though Blasieth has some high ambitions, the idea of too much responsibility on his shoulders makes him nervous.
Part of the reason he thinks so is because he simply lacks the ambition to be Weyrleader, Wingsecond, Weyrlingmaster or whatever else. He isn't the sort of person people typically think of as a "leader," since he prefers to follow orders and blend in with the rest of the crowd rather than stand out. He is not the defiant sort, preferring to give in rather than make a fuss, and he dislikes confrontation. It takes a significant event to make him rebel, and when he does so, he tends to do it in a passive-aggressive manner--smiling to someone's face while sabotaging their work behind their back.
Bekran is an active person who dislikes sitting still. He finds reading boring, and is a competent writer at best. He would much rather be outdoors, doing something useful and perhaps messy with his time. He's not afraid of getting dirty, and pays little attention to his clothes. Family: Istelborn: Grandfather, 60, Holder Krayla: Grandmother, 61, Journeywoman Harper Istakray: Uncle, 40, Holder Istella: Aunt, 39, Holder Kreysa: Aunt, 35, Journeywoman Healer Kr'ton: Uncle, 33, Rider of Blue Selorth Teyla: Uncle, 29, Journeyman Harper Tesla: Aunt, 29, Weyrling of Green Syth Iskra: Mother, 37, Rider of Gold Maeleth B'sar: Father, deceased, Rider of Bronze Elseth
Location: Trelis Weyr, Telgar Weyr, back at Trelis Rank: Weyrling
History: Bekran was born to the then-junior weyrwoman of Trelis, Iskra. His father, B'sar, was a bronzerider, and Iskra's weyrmate until his death in a betweening accident. Bekran was only a turn old at the time, however, and doesn't really remember his father, and his mother was often too busy to tell him much. In fact, Iskra was too busy for a lot of things, like raising her son, and Bekran was raised by a foster mother in the Lower Caverns. He dealt with his birth mother's distant nature well, though, and he wasn't completely ignored, either. He spent most of his time with the other weyrbrats, though, and never wanted for company.
It was four turns ago, when he was about eleven turns old, when things began to change. The first of the new colors turned up in Loraketh's second clutch, and then shortly after in Maeleth's. Bekran found the new mutations fascinating, but not everyone was so enthused at their appearance. While his mother's queen was on the sands, Bekran and three other children of ranking weyrfolk were kidnapped by a band of dragonriders from a different Weyr. They were taken away from Trelis and held hostage in order to force Trelis to get rid of the mutant colors by sending them between. The children were rescued before long and taken home without further trouble, but the experience was still frightening for the twelve-turn-old.
It was frightening for Iskra as well, apparently. She began to worry and fuss over Bekran as she never had before, and when she learned Bekran had been having nightmares about his kidnapping, she resolved to leave Trelis for the safety of her dragon and her son. After all, there was no telling what those crazy riders were willing to do next. They left shortly after Maeleth's clutch on the sands had hatched.
The change in scenery was a relief for Bekran, though his mother continued her heightened and nearly smothering attention to him for nearly a turn before backing off. By then she had more eggs on the sands, though, and another queen egg to look forward to. Bekran was rather glad for the break. As soon as he was old enough (which wasn't long after they arrived at Telgar), he began to stand for clutches there, though he didn't Impress. Recently, however, Iskra was sent back to Trelis as their Weyrwoman after the death of Iirla, and though Bekran was reluctant to return, he went back with her.
Turns out it was a good thing he did, too. Topaz Chahaturth's clutch was already hardening on the sands when he arrived, but despite missing the Touching, he stood the clutch and managed to find Ebony Blasieth on the Sands. The two are now in weyrling training. DragonName: Blasieth Pronunciation: bla (black without the ck) - ss - eye - th Age: 0 months Type: Dragon Rank: Ebony Size: 20.5 feet at full growth Color Codes: Base: 433E37 Armadillo Gray Wings: 130A06 Asphalt Black Face Mask: 000000 Black Wing Stripes: ABA196 Bronco Gray
Appearance: Blasieth is an average sized ebony dragon with very well proportioned limbs. He actually appears to be quite seamless and at times it is very hard to tell where one part of his dark body ends and another begins. He is an armadillo gray in color with asphalt black wings that have bronco gray stripes running the full length of the wing membranes. It actually looks like he has a raccoon mask on his face that is a typical black in color. In all though it appears as though he blends in very well with the shadows whether he wants to or not. Sometimes this can be a good thing, and at others it can be a complete pain in the butt for lack of better words. Either way it won’t be as hard as his rider thinks to bathe him for dirt seems to stand out a bit on his very dark hide.
Personality: Blasieth can be a very sweet and friendly dragon, and even a very loyal companion, but there's not many people who get to see that side of him. He may make a few friends as he grows older, but he is an intensely shy and extremely quiet dragon; he is the sort who hates to draw attention to himself and prefers to remain in the shadows--literally as much as figuratively. He is an eloquent enough dragon when he does speak up, and isn't particularly socially awkward, but for the most part, he prefers to keep silent unless he really has something to say.
This certainly works against him considering his high ambitions for himself and his rider. He wants to be someone someday, someone important, so he and B'ran can show the Weyr what the mutations can really do. He likes the idea of everyone bowing to his whims, but when he thinks of the networking and talking involved to get there? *shudder* His plans are mostly unformed at the moment, and he's mostly focused on just getting B'ran to go along with him, but who knows what the future holds? He will likely be drawn to the Rebellion and their lofty ideals for the future of Pern, though.
Like many ebonies, Blasieth is a dreamer. His daydreams mostly consist of what he will do when he's older, but he has a fairly short attention span and is easily distracted, so he'll sometimes find his daydreams turn down different and occasionally very strange paths. He is a trustworthy, steadfast dragon, who will never turn on those he considers friends, but he is not the best judge of character and well, sometimes he's a little too trusting. If he's not careful, he could end up defending people who really are not worth it.
Mind-Voice (If applicable): We will do great things Mine, you just have to believe that. Blasieth’s voice can be hard to hear at times because it is so soft and quiet. There are even times that a person won’t even know that he’s talking to them until he raises his voice a little. Either way his voice always holds a sort of friendly quality. It actually kind of feels like the hug of a best friend that you haven’t seen in months and that you’ve missed terribly. Though there are times when he will be very upset and it actually sounds like his voice is a silent threat that can send shivers down a person’s spine and make them fear what lurks in the dark.
Reason: I believe that together, you and I B'ran, can do great things. We just need to ignore what the other's say about us. Together we will single handedly make Pern a better place where everyone can trust each other and not have to worry about getting hurt.
