Siren was proud of herself, oh yes. She'd known there were eggs growing in her belly, and it was important that she find a safe, warm spot to clutch them so she could watch over and protect the eggs. She'd done quite well at that, too, so the lazuli fire lizard thought, and she now lay curled around her small clutch of four eggs (despite the small number, the eggs themselves were not particularly small in size, and the lazuli was so tiny that she could barely reach her tail around the clutch). It was particularly clever of her to lay them in the same place as the big dragons did, which were kept warm and well-sheltered with no help from her. Since she had managed to come across the sands at a time between dragon clutches, she had the sands all to herself. She could feel the eggs beginning to rock, however, and she knew they wouldn't be here for much longer. That was okay though; this was the best part. The fire lizard let out a loud bugle, as loud as she could make it, and took up humming to announce the hatching. Humans could come and watch her eggs hatch, just like they did with the big dragons. At least, the ones who were already nearby could; her humming didn't carry nearly as well as a dragon's, but anyone reasonably close to the Hatching Sands would realize what was going on. (OOC: Your characters can try to pick out an egg before it hatches if they're quick, or you can just have them watching and leave the decision of which one they Impress up to me.) (In Counterclockwise order from the top-right) Bleak Autumn Egg This is the largest egg in the clutch, but only slightly, as the Blistering Summer egg rivals it quite closely in size. It is a very dark egg, pitch black for the most part, but with large, irregular blotches of red-brown on the shell. It is cool to the touch, but not so cold it would make one suspect it will not hatch. Blistering Summer Egg Only slightly smaller than the Bleak Autumn egg, Blistering Summer is a brilliant, deep orangish-gold in color, though it lacks any hint of the shininess of a gold egg. It has specklings of a lighter, more pure yellow all around the shell. It is very dry to the touch and almost brittle, as though the shell is particularly thin. It pulses with heat, discouraging people from handling it too much. Freezing Winter Egg Freezing Winter is not a particularly striking egg--not particularly large or small, and a medium shade of icy blue with little in the way of distinguishing marks. The color alone is enough to differentiate it from its siblings, and aside from a faint lightening of color near the wider end of the egg, it is a solid color. It's surprisingly cold to the touch, and one might be fooled into thinking it's a dud, if it didn't wriggle around so much. Spring Breeze Egg The Spring Breeze egg is undoubtedly the smallest of the clutch, yet even it is well within the normal boundaries of a fire lizard clutch. The shell is a smooth blending of various shades of green, going from a deep grass green near one end of the shell to a pale, almost mint-green shade at the other. This egg is curiously damp to the touch; it seems to draw in moisture from the surrounding air, though it's as warm as any other normal egg.

K'te, Nerugui and Aerinth entered the hatching grounds, making sure to not alert anyone on guard. Someday, Aerinth, you'll become a father of your own clutch. K'te said to Aerinth. It better be soon. Aerinth scoffed. But then, K'te heard something hissing at his feet. He looked down and saw a firelizard protecting her clutch.
"Hey, Nerugui, do you want a little brother or sister?" K'te asked his ebony flitt. He chirped in agreement and began to hum along to the mother's melody. K'te chuckled and crouched to get a better look. There were four eggs, all of them looked promising. So, instead of taking an egg, he waited to see which egg contained the newest member of the family.

Siren crooned a happy welcome to K'te and his companions, proud to show off her eggs. Speaking of which, one of the eggs seemed to be cracking open already; it was the light blue egg, which had been rocking quite hard for a while now already. A large crack appeared in the top of the egg and soon a pale snout broke through the shell. The fire lizard's head appeared through the hole, blinking soulfully at K'te, and soon the rest of the body emerged as well. She was a green, fairly average in length and build, though she was a strangely cool, blue-toned shade of green except on her paws. She was a well-behaved flit, not making a fuss as she cleaned the egg goo off of her hide, but she didn't pay any attention to the other eggs or her mother. As soon as her hide was somewhat clean, though, she looked up at K'te with a croon, clearly asking to be picked up. She gave a loud squeak of hunger as well, though she was relatively calm for a hatchling. The other eggs were still rocking, but none of them showed any signs of hatching quite yet. K'te's Freezing Winter Egg--Phlegmatic Green Color: Green Mutation?: None Appearance: Fairly average in build, there's nothing particularly special about her aside from color. This female is a very pale, bluish-green, with brighter green points on her paws and wingtips. Her muzzle and tail fade to a darker, but more blue-toned, shade. Personality: Extremely relaxed and laid-back, it's quite rare to see this green anything but calm and collected in her mannerisms. She is a gentle, affectionate fire lizard who tends to get along quite well with others, though she is definitely not dominant, preferring to let others take control. She is very loving, also a bit flirty, and curious as well.

K'te watched as the light blue egg hatched, and to his surprise, revealed a green. He picked her up and she immediately perched on his shoulder. Nerugui chirped a welcome. "We'll call you Emina. Sound fair?" K'te asked his new flitt. She crooned and accepted her new name with a lick to his cheek. He giggled and stroked her nose. Then the four left the hatching grounds, eager to show off the newest edition to his cousion, G'daro.

Mae shuffled her feet, hands twisting and turning a crude flute. Over and over, fingers caressed the object, nails struck it.... She nearly kept going past the sands, but humming?
Her direction changed and too her to the warm carvern. With a smile, she watched the eggs twitch and rock.
Her amethyst and blue nestled upon her shoulders, watching and soon humming along. "Greetings little friends." She whispered to the mother and unhatched eggs. Oh! New life was great.

Siren was focused on her eggs, crooning encouragement to the three who had yet to hatch, but she looked up at Mae's approach and chirped a cheerful greeting to the girl. She gave a stern glance to the two fire lizards who accompanied her; she didn't care for them getting too close to her eggs, but as long as they kept a respectful distance away, she wouldn't get upset about it. It was a few more moments before anything interesting seemed to happen, but eventually a long, winding crack did appear in the smallest egg, the green one. Slowly, the hatchling climbed out of the shell, and finally she was revealed. It was a second green, this one smaller and darker than her sister, but with pale, curling markings down her spine. The green looked around her curiously, caught sight of her mother, and chirped a greeting to the lazuli, who was happy to help clean the grit and goo off of the young green's hide. Only once that was finished did either fire lizard pay attention to the spectators again. The hatchling seemed to notice Mae for the first time, and gave a startled cheap before stumbling her way right over to the girl to greet her probably. She was a friendly one, but it also seemed she had Impressed. Mae's Spring Breeze Egg--Sanguine Green Color: Green Mutation?: None Appearance: Smaller than average and very light and thin in build, she looks as if a particularly strong breeze could blow her away. Her hide is a very deep, grass green in color, with lighter curling marks flowing out from her spine, and she has a dark green belly. Personality: Sociable and outgoing, this green is what you'd typically expect from one of her color, overall. She is charismatic and gets along well with most other flits, even modifying her behavior if necessary to get along better with troublemakers. She is energetic and playful, but also sensitive to emotions and quick to react to changes in a situation. She is quite curious and takes an interest in pretty much everything going on around her, but as soon as the novelty wears off, she tends to lose interest and move on to something else, as she has a very short attention span.

Mae knelt down slowly, watching the delicate little green hatch. The pair that had been on her shoulders respectfully took the hint, scuffling afew feet away to please the mother.
As the newly hatched green stumbled close, Mae couldn't help but smile wider. She went to put away the instument in her hand, tucking it in her belt. "What shall I call you?"
The flitter tilted her little head, as if listening intently. "What about.... Aube?"
The green gave a chirp, sniffed and came up to Mae's foot. "I like it too." Violette and Tiide peered at the green, as curious about Aube as she was of them.

Bronzerider At'kal and Corth had arrived at the Sands shortly after they both had gotten the bugle from Siren. Corth crooned at the eggs and trilled.
"Hello, little one. My name is At'kal and this is Corth. May we enter?" he bowed and so did Corth to let momma flit know that there was respect to her. They both made no sudden, threatening movements. "Maybe soon you will be a father of a clutch, Corth." he said smiling.
That would be nice. Corth pranced in a circle thinking of it. At'kal laughed.
Ho, boy! Slow down, love. I know you have Abyrath's favor but that does not mean that you will succeed in catching her next time she Flies. Besides, your making me dizzy![ he teased. Corth rumbled with amusement.

Siren crooned with pleasure when the bronzerider greeted her so politely. She even arched her neck around one of the eggs, as if to show it off to her spectators. That was the large, black egg, and it was beginning to show signs of hatching as well, with cracks littering its shell. The hatchling inside had not yet broken, through, however, and the other, bright yellow egg was cracking as well, twitching constantly in its place. The bright yellow shell burst apart finally, leaving a proud, dark blue hatchling in its place. The male ignored his mother and unhatched sibling, climbing unsteadily to his feet. He was a handsome fellow, with mottled blue hide, though he was bulky and heavily built for one so small. Oddly enough, he had a pair of sharp crested ridges lining his back, where most fire lizards only had one. He arched his wings proudly, and there were paler blue markings lining the edges, a stark contrast to the darker blue hide. The blue trilled gleefully, seeming to glance with scorn, or something like it, at At'kal--at least until he caught sight of Corth watching behind him. The blue flit blinked in startlement and then crooned a friendly greeting to the bronze. Oh, now here was someone as awesome and mighty as himself. Finally, there was somebody here who was worthy of his company! The fire lizard stumbled awkwardly to Corth's front claw, cheeping hungrily. Corth's Blistering Summer Egg--Choleric Blue Color: Blue Mutation?: Extra line of spikes on his ridge Appearance: Quite large and bulky for a blue, this fire lizard's more along the build of a typical bronze. This blue has a double line of abnormally-sharp spiked ridges going down his back, side by side, instead of the normal one line. A dark blue base color gives way to a much lighter shade of blue in an irregular, almost flame-like pattern along his wingsails. His body is lightly marked by small, irregular patches of a deep blue that give his hide a somewhat mottled look. Personality: A blue which acts more like a bronze, he is quick to anger and gets upset easily. His fits of anger are spectacular to behold; it's well worth the effort to keep him satisfied. This fire lizard has a lot of pent up energy and is very active, rarely sitting still for more than a few minutes unless he's asleep. He is a dominant flit and likes to boss others around, and while usually happy when things are going well, he can go from a good mood to a state of rage or even depression without warning--his moods change extremely fast. While its brother was Impressing, the black egg was busy hatching, and with a little help from Siren, a brown head finally emerged from the shell, and the rest of the hatchling's body soon followed. The brown was completely silent as he looked around, and apparently quite shy as well. He did not approach any of the onlookers at all, instead trying to hide underneath his mother and the shards of his shell, neither of which were particularly helpful. Despite his tremoring stare, Siren couldn't convince the brown to move away.
