It is odd, is it not? The last time there was a Hatching Feast it was........oh...was it...was it Loraketh's?
Alyara nodded her head, her eyes skirting the dining hall as she checked on the preparations. News had travelled fast, and it seemed that the kitchen staff was celebrating the impression of the Head Cook to the newest Sub-Queen. Of course whether that was celebration of the event or the fact that he would no longer be in charge of them, Ara didn't know. Either way, baby dragons always got people into good moods, and although there had been maulings, none had gotten fatally injured and there had been no betweens or duds in the clutch.
This was something to truly celebrate, that was the short of it. All around the Garnet and Gold colors of Trelis Weyr decorated every nook and crevice that the eye could find. It was going to be a fun night, certainly one that was needed. A little celebration was definitely wanted by everyone. Do you know when Iirla and J'dol will be getting here? No doubt they're talking to the newest Weyrlord. She smirked slightly, wondering just how J'dol was taking to the idea of being a teacher in his own right.
Finding a place to sit, the Greenrider let her feet prop up on the nearest chair, not caring much that she was in a dress. She was tired of being on her feet, the weyrlings had been settled down, and she was going to be having to watch what they did if they came down while not being able to drown out the agitation that no doubt would come now and again with wine. Smiling softly she let her hand slide against the little bump at her middle, that wasn't such a bad thing she supposed. Her eyes flickered from her hand over to the entrance however as some people started to trickle in...
---
You will go and make an impression on them all because I cannot.
Tennath hissed as his rider shook her head again. The foolish girl was being unreasonable for the tenth time that night, and to be honest, Miyaka could care less. "I'm not going just so they can all gawk at me. It's not even that I care Tennath....I just can't stand the idea of having to deal with them all." Her eyes flashed glaring defiance as she snapped her voice at the Bronze. Easy little bird. M'ka, deal with it and go. You're boring me and I need my rest. Go...NOW!
The young King clicked his jaws together, his eyes whirling an irritated yellow as he quickly turned his gaze on someone at the door to their barracks. "Having trouble Miya?" Tk'ri leaned against the doorframe as if he had no care in the world, the dark form of Aedaluth peeking from behind his legs. His idiocy will not catch will it my pet? I still don't understand why I must keep him company. He is terribly predictable and entirely dull. I am small enough to come to the feast, why can I not? This is not fair.
"Shush Aedy, you can't because I said so. Sometimes you have to listen to me." Insufficient reasoning behind your conclusion means room for variables that cause deviations from your theory. You do not control me. I do not have to listen to you. It is called compromise my pet, do remember that. The small hatchling twitched her tail-tip, the only physical sign that she was agitated by the conversation. You may stay I suppose peasant but do not bother me....much.
Miyaka simply snorted as she realized the young King was trying to be decently nice to the other dragonet, and Aedaluth stared at the Bronze for a few moments considering the ramifications of curling next to him in the large bed that had been brought for him to sleep on. Move over, I need room as well. Tennath snorted, the sound and flick of his wings making it obvious that he had not been thinking they would share a space, but he did shuffle over after a moment and placed his head on top of the dark, lined neck of the little female as she curled against his side.
"Awwr, look how cute..." "That is just....yeah."
Cease! Flap off!
(Ooc: So, feel free to post your characters coming around. The dragonets can either hang out in the barracks or sleep. Weyrlings do not have to attend the feast since they're usually tired, but they can. They cannot drink wine excessively or do anything else bad, especially since they are newly impressed.)

The evening had come, and both dragonet and weyrling were tired. It had been a long day, but there was a celebration in order!
OomaMine, this day has been quite tiring. But there is a feast to attend.
Calibath's rough and deep almost brass voice sounded in Ooma's mind. Ooma's hand traced her dark green dragonet, admiring the sleek contrasting colors of greens.
Yes, a feast indeed. I would like to change my clothes, and take a quick bath, then we will go and have ourselves a good time.
Ooma was in fact, quite filthy. Her black hair was stringy with sweat, more than half fallen out of the once neat bun. Sweat, sand, blood, and egg goo dirtied her skin and robes. She couldn't wait to be clean...
Don't forget you need your leg checked. You did promise me you'd get help. I'm not letting you be foolish and get away without proper care.
Ooma nearly rolled her eyes at Calibath's persistent and stubborn words. Her leg... Yes, it hurt but she could wait until tomorrow. Unless her silly dragoness dragged her off to a healer...
~
Maybe an hour or so later, Ooma was happy and clean. Her hair was now loose and delicately draped down her back. A dark green dress (Calibath quite liked the color on Ooma; Quote her 'A hue such as that matches my own hide, and you wear it well. Green is such a superior color') now replaced the white Candidate robes. New sandles covered Ooma's feet, and a make-shift wrap covered Ooma's leg.
Calibath walked into the hall with Ooma, both looking refreshed and glowing.
I think I shall lay and rest over here. I'll fetch you when I am ready to go.
Ok, I have someone I want to see, and maybe I'll grab a bite to eat. But I don't know many of the other weyrlings so there's nothing else I need to do...
Calibath laid stretched luxuriously nearby, wings folded, and paws tucked under her chest. She was muscular and powerful, but rather adorable was curled so sweetly.
Ooma smiled, and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Now where was R'hard?

R'hard always enjoyed the hatching feasts; not only was there the excitement of new dragons, but the food was always top notch as well. His newest fire lizard Viggo was perched on his shoulder as R'hard walked into the Dining Hall. The blue's nose twitched constantly as he took in all the scents around him, and he hummed happily. R'hard had made sure to feed all of them before the Feast, so he wasn't really hungry, but he was sure the hatchling would have accepted any food he was given regardless, so he had to keep a close watch on him.
His own meal would have to wait; there was someone he wanted to see first. He'd watched Ooma Impress a pretty green from his place in the stands, but he hadn't really had a chance to talk to her since before the Hatching started. He craned his head around, looking for the new weyrling, and once he spotted her, he grinned and walked to where she stood. "Ooma, congratulations!" he said with a wave. "I told you you wouldn't have a problem Impressing." He remembered the wound she had received earlier; he couldn't tell now how bad it was, but he was sure she had gotten it treated by the healers. "How's your leg?"

Ooma smiled as she spotted R'hard. There he was!
She thought about giving him a hug, but she wasn't sure how Calibath would take that.
"I didn't believe you at first... But now I do..."
His other question made her gaze look at her leg. The scab had stiffened her leg, making some motion painful and difficult..
"It is... ok.. Calibath will drag me to a healer after this, I'd imagine."
I most certainly will.
She still was smiling and she smiled wider at her sleepy dragon's comment.

R'hard grinned. "Well that just means you should listen to me more often, doesn't it?" he said in a teasing tone of voice. He shot a glance at the green. "She is a beauty of a green, though. You should be proud."
He shot another glance at her legs as Ooma mentioned she hadn't seen a healer, yet. "Well, what are you waiting for?" R'hard asked with a slight scowl. "It could get infected, you know. The healers would at least be able to give you some numbweed for it." Viggo, picking up on the rider's agitation, gave an emphatic hiss, as if to reinforce the point.

He didn't really want to go to the feast. He was still in a great deal of shock, and it wasn't being helped by the constant nagging of Saekath in his mind. Poor Iro'ris kept shaking his head, as if trying to get her voice out. It was such an odd feeling, having a second presence in his head!
The deciding factor, however, was that he knew the other cooks would want to see him. He had been one of them, one of the normal, unbonded people. A standard worker. A cook. And now he was the bonded of Trelis Weyr's newest Sub-Queen... though Iro'ris had taken to thinking of Saekath as his Lion Queen. She certainly held herself like a true queen, that was sure!
Both Iro'ris and Saekath were rather exhausted, both mentally and physically, but as the Topaz and bonded, they felt they were almost obligated to give an appearance at the feast... even if their appearance was greeted poorly. Iro'ris certainly knew that some, especially Candidates that had not Impressed, would give him a hard time. A crazy old man like him, Impressing a Queen? It was unheard of!
Not any more it's not!
Saekath hissed. She had been fed and oiled, and her hide was gleaming as she rested, curled in a corner of Iro'ris' quaters. Truth be told, the ex-cook would be rather sad to leave them. He had lived there for nearly twenty years. Moving now would be rather... odd. Get over it, crazyMine. Perfection means Weyrling training, and training means living in the Weyrling quarters. The man sighed, folding another tunic and putting it aside. He didn't really have any proper attire for the feast... and his best tunic wasn't even a proper color for matching his dragon. Shaking his head, he shrugged and tugged the deep, almost black-blue tunic over his head. "At least we'll contrast nicely?" He said, looking at Saekath. You must get new clothes, crazyMine. We must be perfect! Iro nodded, and straightened the tunic self-conciously. Finally, he and Saekath walked from his quarters and down to where the feast was being held in the familiar dining hall. Looking around, Iro'ris noted a few other Weyrlings and their dragons, though most of the dragons were resting. Saekath cut a powerful figure as her large form cut through the crowd. Iro followed in her wake, bumping into a few people. He was still rather dazed. Saekath settled herself in a rather isolated spot. Go mingle and talk, crazyMine. We will be fine. Iro gulped and moved back into the crowd, walking backwards, reluctant to leave his Lion Queen alone. Tripping, he bumped into a woman he recognized from the sands. "I'm sorry," he said hurriedly to Ooma. "I didn't... oh." Shards. This was the woman who'se dragon had been attacked by Saekath, though the Topaz insisted she had only been playing. "I, um. I don't know if you saw, but I, uh. Impressed the Topaz... I'd like to apologize for her behavior on the sands, and attacking your green. Um, she swears she was just playing, but that's no excuse, I guess..." Iro trailed off, running a hand through his long hair. How would the girl react? Stop worrying. But we're not apologizing to that green! Maybe I was playing... maybe I wasn't. Iro'ris grimaced. Why did he have to Impress such a difficult dragon?! Because we chose you. Now get over it, crazyIro'risMine! Iro sighed, and adjusted his right arm, which was set and bound in a sling. He had been right; it was broken. The healers had confirmed this as he walked off of the sands to feet Saekath. I've got a long way to go until I'm perfect...[/blockquote][/blockquote] =====================

Linda had taken the time after the hatching, and before the feast, to get herself cleaned up. Not knowing what to do with her ripped and bloody candidate robes, she tried to wash them as best as possible and set them aside as well. She showed up at the feast in her regular clothes, only two of her fire lizards was with her as the rest were resting. She knew better then to bring everyone with her, and after helping calm them down they wanted to relax. Hana of course was on her shoulder with her tail wrapped around Linda's neck. Seya, her newest of the fire lizard variety and called a Lazuli by some, was trying to mimic Hana on Linda's other shoulder even though she wasn't fully grown.
Linda's smile during some of the hatching was gone, mostly in her mind was worry that clouded her thoughts. She didn't mind that she didn't impress, it was the dragon's choice after all and well... From the touching and all that happened it seemed she had too much hate for dragons to want her. She didn't want to give up though in seeing if she would or not but in the meantime what now? There was no clutches or any going to be around that she heard of. What did they do to candidates who didn't impress? Send them home?
Lilia had a very very busy time after the Hatching, she couldn't very well go back home after impression after all. Her parents had to be sent for, everything explained, and plans of moving her to the Weyr. Helia, her cat, was left behind with her parents since she would not travel via dragonback. At least she would be showing up soon though... Fletch however went to her soon as her and Nauth came out of the hatching grounds... Nauth... That was the most energy consuming part of her day. The deaf girl didn't even have any time to get over her shock and the trauma from the hatching since impressing on him.
When it wasn't hurriedly feeding him small chunks of meat, it was trying to not make him choke. Or bounce about, or talking non stop... Lilia actually had a slight headache when finally the ebony had collapsed after a bath and oiling.... of which was construed of lots of running around and chasing him. She barely had time to get ready for the feast as she tried not to use up more of her energy. Thankfully she was able to wear something over her clothes while working with Nauth so her clothes she showed up with weren't that destroyed.
So now here she was at the feast in the weyr, her whole life in pretty much shambles and so much change from her normal rather unchanging life that she... Well Lilia was scared, her small stature slightly hunched as she trembled a bit timidly as she stared at everyone around her. Fletch, her blue fire lizard, was on her shoulder wrapped around her crooning softly as he tried to comfort her. In turn she was kind of clingy to him as she tried to watch everything around her. What would happen to her now in such a group with such... vicious dragons... and...

Ooma frowned at R'hard and was about to argue when a man bumped into her. She was able to regain her balance (thankfully) instead of ending up on her bum.
She normally would have snapped at him, esspecially because she was tired, but his babble of apologies kept her quiet.
"Calibath was not harmed, physically. It was more of a pride thing.. I don't believe we've met.. I'm Ooma. My green is named Calibath."
Ooma patted Iro'ris's arm comfortingly.
"You can't control a hatchling, esspecially before impression."
The girl offered the crazy man a smile.
Calibath snapped her eyes open, and the orbs swirled red.
She attacked me Mine! I am not prideful! She thinks she can toy with me because... because... she's bigger! And..and a sub-queen! Don't listen to him! SaekathOwn lies!
The dark green dragoness rose and flared her wings, hardly threatening as she tripped over her whip-like tail in fury. She growled, deeply and lowly with a savage flash of teeth, angry at her tail for getting in the way and at hers(for speaking to the enemy).
Calibath, behave. You were not harmed. Saekath doesn't know her own strength...
The dragoness was only angrier at Her's lame, excuses..
"Don't mind Calibath. She's...she's tired like all of us. And maybe hungry again..."
Ooma was pink cheeked because of Calibath's misbehavior..

Iro'ris sighed with relief. Good, the little green hadn't been hurt, physically at least. The man couldn't really understand the concept of pride, since he didn't have any, but he understood that Saekath had shamed the green, and that the hatchling was upset because of it. That was what he figured, anyway.
"Oh, I'm Iromin... er... I'm Iro'ris. It's easier just to call me Iro. My topaz is named Saekath." He nodded to Ooma before turning his eyes back to his Lion Queen, who was laying spread out, letting those who passed by her pay her compliments. Iro couldn't help but smile at the dragon, who was so clearly in her element.
He jumped when Ooma patted his arm. He wasn't used to people touching him so randomly like that! Trying to calm his racing heart, Iro nodded. "Either way, I'm still sorry it happened. I had no idea she was going to choose me..." His eyes going back to Saekath, he shook his head. "It's like I'm in a dream..."
Iro'ris turned back to Ooma in time to see her offer a smile. He smiled back. She certainly seemed willing to forgive him for his dragon's actions on the sands. Of course she is. She has no choice. It would be stupid of her not to forgive a Queen like me! ...even if I did it on purpose.
Iro glanced at the Topaz, ready to say something back, but he was distracted almost instantly. Watching as the dark green form of Calibath rose and flared her wings, Iro'ris winced as she tripped. However, the green was still growling, obviously rather angry. Amature. Watch how a real Queen does it! The topaz rose on her large hind paws, wings flared, front paws batting the air as she roared at the green, eyes tinged red. "Saekath!" Iro'ris yelled, completely forgetting he could use his mind. "Stop, right now!" The Topaz fought his control bitterly, and twice Iro lost her again, letting the dragon roar in anger. Finally, she dropped to the ground, tail lashing like an angry feline's. CrazyMine! Why do you not let me teach the fool a lesson?! This is not the time or the place... and a Queen should be kind to her subjects! The Topaz hissed, but curled back up, eyes still mixed with a bit of red. "Apparently they're both... tired," Iro answered, shaking his head. Neither dragon seemed tired at all, but appeared ready to fight bitterly. "Sorry about that," he mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck in an embarrased sort of way. Do not be embarrased of us, Iro'risMine! We are perfect! Praise us! Yes, my love. You're perfect. But... please don't fight? Saekath snorted. Fine. We will not fight... right now. Iro knew that was the best he was going to get, so he took it. Thank you, my beautiful Lion queen. Looking back at Ooma, he sighed. "Dragons, eh? Some handful." [/blockquote][/blockquote] =====================

Calibath growled, or tried to but the sound died in her throat. She tried to be stubborn, raising her chin defiantly, but she skirted behind Ooma.
She wants to EAT me!!!
The green shrieked and peered at the huge topaz. No she doesn't, don't be silly. She's grumpy too.
Calibath hissed meekly at Hers.
Saekath's display had Ooma slightly paled, with trembling hands. "I-its fine... Siblings bicker right?"
She laughed nervously, glancing at R'hard a moment. Maybe she could dine with him later?
"Hopefully Saekath and Calibath with be friendly one day.."
Don't trust her Mine! If you trust them it is easier to be eaten! They want your trust! I'll never ever--
Ooma swatted Calibath's flank. "You quit that right now!"
She scolded, holding a hand to her throbbing head. Calibath had a wonderful brass voice but the dragonet was wailing in her head. A horrible whiny sound...
Calibath spat but sat down and was quiet.

Since Ooma seemed surprisingly angry at his remark, R'hard decided to keep silent. It couldn't have been that bad, after all, if she was here at the Feast. When Ooma was bumped into by an older man, R'hard figured it was easier to keep quiet and let her handle it. It took him a moment to remember who it was; the stands candidates all blurred together after a while, but he was pretty sure this was the one who'd Impressed Trelis's new topaz.
"Congratulations on Impressing," R'hard added once Ooma had introduced herself. "My name's R'hard, of brown Kaith." His young blue flit cocked his head with interest and stared at Calibath when the green reared up angrily. That was fine, but when the much larger topaz roared back, Viggo ducked behind R'hard's head, and even he jumped in surprise.
"Yeah, they can certainly be a handful," R'hard said with a nervous laugh once Saekath settled down. He was relieved to see Iro'ris subdue her, even if it wasn't immediately. He thought he'd get the hang of it over time. It was still a while before Viggo would venture forth from his collar again, though. The blue's eyes still whirled with nervous yellow tinges as he stared warily at the topaz.

Th’en smiled broadly as he watched the goings on of the feast with his large green curled up on the ground next to him. I swear after this glass no more wine for Me. He had never really been fond of wine or anything of the sort, but seeing as he had been offered a glass in congratulations of him impressing Tyeth, he figured one glass couldn’t hurt. I will take care of you Minelove. But you had better not do anything stupid. He was actually starting to get used to Tyeth’s personality changes. In fact, he was quite fond of it actually. At least he would never have the issue with mistaking her for one of the other greens of the Weyr. Tyeth snorted at her rider’s thoughts but continued to watch the going-ons of the feast. It is appropriate for the Weyr to hold a feast in my honor don't you think Minelove? A small croon followed her words.
Yes Tyeth, but it isn’t just for you Love, it is for all of the hatchlings. Th’en raised his eyebrows as he looked down at his dragon. Tyeth growled and looked at her six-foot rider with a swirling gaze of mixed reds, oranges. But her growl soon became a soft croon as Th’en began stroking her eye-ridges and flashed a picture of her shining brilliantly as a fully grown dragoness. Yes I shall be a wonderful flier won't I Minelove? Tyeth’s voice was soft and sweet, but Th’en knew just how quickly that could change. Yes you will Love. He patted her gracefully arched green neck and then returned to scratching the utterly feminine eye-ridges. He took a small sip of the wine in his cup and then continued to watch the feast with quiet curiosity and excitement.

Ka'mond was searching for a certain someone.... Asaara.
He had watched her Impress, cheered as loud as he could. Now he wanted to talk to her....
Mine, do you love her?
That made him blush. Maybe I do... She's... a brilliant wonderful person....
I like her. She makes your mind happy.
How often so you peer in my mind?
Enough to know you are in love.
The amethyst squeezed easily into the dining hall, hide oiled and sleek. Ka'mond wore a fresh tunic, with combed hair and excited eyes.

Asaara, my sweet, why must we do this? Croyeth asked his rider, the albino Asaara. Because, I'm hungry and you are too. Don't you deny the fact that you want to eat with your brothers and sisters. she replied. Croyeth gave a mental sigh as they walked to the dining hall, just as the feast was getting started. Mhedroh, who was absent during the Hatching due to the rules, was perched on Croyeth's back, making sure he didn't fall off.
They entered the hall; Asaara searching for the face she saw in the stands. Then, she found him, next to a amethyst: Ka'mond. She grinned and rushed to tackle him, nearly knocking him down to the ground. Croyeth mentally chuckled as she helped Ka'mond up. "Ka'mond! I did it! I Impressed!" she told him, hugging him tightly. "This is Croyeth, my bonded." she said, turning to him. Pleased to meet you and your dragon. Croyeth replied. He was tiny compared to the amethyst. "What is your dragon's name?" Asaara asked Ka'mond.

Ka'mond made a surprised noise as Asaara caught him off guard. He looked at Croyeth and hugged Asaara.
Hello, Croyeth and Mine'sLove.
Ka'mond flushed. Abyrath!
What, Mine? You said so yourself.
Ka'mond shook his head slightly. "I saw! I'm so happy for you! Croyeth is quite a handsome blue..."
You will be a strong dragon, Croyeth. I think you are a stunning prince.
Abyrath flicked the blue's shoulder, with a friendly and kind gesture. Hmm... he was cute.
"My bonded is Abyrath. I should have introduced you two sooner...."
