Since the tumultuous events of the Rindell gather and recent dragon flights, B'den had spent much of his time holed up in the library, going over old histories and tales. He still spent time working on training and looking after Kohenkyoth, but aside from that, he tended to keep more to himself these days. His dragon was left mostly to her own devices as well, something which suited her fine as long was she was fed and well-oiled; Kohenkyoth being Kohenkyoth, she spent most of her free time training.
Right now though, things were quiet; Kohenkyoth was deep asleep, resting from her latest workout, and B'den had brought some of the records he'd been looking over up to his weyr for the added privacy. He was enjoying the silence, actually; unfortunately, it was doomed not to last.
With very little warning, Kohenkyoth woke up, and B'den's eyes focused on hers--whirling with a mixture of reds and purples that he'd never seen before. He leaped to his feet with a curse even as the green dove down to the feeding grounds. They were not quite as empty as they used to be, now that the drought was over, but the beasts were still somewhat sparse and thin. Kohenkyoth did not care--she came down on top of one of the cattle, biting into the neck with a savage intensity, and paid little attention to B'den's words.
Go easy on them, Kohenkyoth! And blood it, don't gorge! He'd been prepped already on what to expect when his dragon finally rose, but he still found himself more nervous than he'd ever expected, not to mention taken aback by the ferocity the green was showing.
Kohenkyoth screeched at him as she hovered over her kill. I know what I'm doing! He was every bit as stubborn as she was, however, and he could the hunger and thirst in her throat. When she latched onto the open wound and began to lap at the blood, he could taste the metallic tang in his own mouth. B'den shut the door to his weyr, though it wasn't locked. He knew what came after a flight, of course, but he wanted to hold back on it for as long as possible. Kohenkyoth was enough to deal with.
As soon as she lifted her head from her meal, Kohenkyoth gave a low growl. She eyed the other herdbeasts and the males who had already started to show up, debating whether to take a second beast or start the flight properly. The hunger was still with her, but not as powerful as before, and a mental nudge from B'den helped to make up her mind. Perhaps there were other ways to calm her hunger. With a single leap from her powerful hindquarters, the young green was airborne, roaring a challenge to anyone who would chase her. Try your hardest; it won't be good enough. There's no one who can best me!

Nymari's head shot up from her work as a sound she had come to detest rang overhead. Maybe.. maybe she could fight it? Maybe she could lock herself in her little hole in the wall? She'd never make it in time though; she knew Iyiath's emotions would take control of her before she made it even halfway through camp. Grimacing, she rested a hand on the stomach that was only beginning to show the signs of the life that grew inside. Sharding flights caused nothing but trouble! She only had enough time to shove her makeshift fishing rod against a tree before the urge to seek out the female's rider began to take over.
Iyiath had been in the process of hunting when Kohenkyoth screeched, and the male amethyst's eyes were quick to whirl with the beginnings of lust. Launching himself onto the wild wherry he had been stalking, he quickly drained its blood before spreading his wings, giving an experimental wiggle, and launching into the air. His wouldn't be happy with him, Iyiath could feel it, but he had needs too and it was time to prove himself!
There she was! A beautiful, strong green, all his! Well.. he hoped anyways. Certainly she would see that he was an excellent male speciment despite his feminine build and bright pink hide. Yes, he would prove his masculinity through a show of strength and speed! Beautiful Lady, I will prove myself to you. Let's play this little game! he called, a tone of joy to his voice as he tried to spiral in circles below her, already trying to show off.
Nymari glared at the closed door. What were the chances it would be locked, that she would try to get in and fail and, in her confused mind, wander off to find someone else. Perhaps wander to someone she at least knew... at some point her hand had moved to press open the door and it swung open slowly. She was the first, but hopefully not the only. Raising her eyes in defiance, she gave B'den a narrowed look before the flightlust made her step into the room.

A female's cry caught the massive bronze's attention. His eyes strayed from picking out his meal to watch the green drop upon a beast. The entire sight pleased him. Until the purple twit can into the picture.
A growl rose into Kasprth's throat, his maw parting to let out his snarl. He lunged from the ledge, and hissed with growing anger and greed. His jaws crushed a herdbeast, blood oozing onto his lips. The hot liquid dripped down the male's throat, intensifying his hunger.
He ran his tongue over his mouth and fangs, gaze now finding the green. The amethyst was infuriating! Like a fly buzzing in his ear... little pee-wee thinking he could make this a game...!!
A roared tore from Kasprth's chest, rumbling like thunder. The King had arrived! And he came to win.
I disagree, Kohenkyoth. A King has his methods, a warrior has her own.
His wings beat steadily, his giant form taking flight. He growled again at Iyiath. He was given the pip-squeak a warning. This bronze did not mess around. This is no game, twit. A flight should never be considered as such. A game is for hatchlings. A flight is for Kings!
What a glorious green! She was not a queen, but she was worth his time and notice. She was a Warrior. She was a fighter, a never-give-in winner!
--
Zi'axe hissed as his dragon went airborne. Stupid sharding dragon. Damn sharding flight... He had little knowledge of the green or rider, and the man had little control over his thoughts anyhow. He growled ag flashes of purple, frowned and narrowed his eyes. Well it was time to go anyway. He caught a piece of sky, gazed at the green. He pulled a boot onto one foot. Blood trickled down his throat, he licked his lips to try and savor the flavor. A second boot.... The bronzerider cast a distracted look around, deciding against bringing a shirt. If he-Kasprth ended up winning, it'd get lost anyway. And so he left, with a tan and bare chest and confident steps.
His senses guided him to B'den's door, and he seethed that it was open. Zi'axe pushed through anyway, glaring at the woman with flightlust-driven dragon hatred. She could not steal his prize! This was his!
-- I will show you that you are, indeed, best, Green Warrior. Show me your superiority!!
The bronze crooned, climbing toward the green.

So, that was how it was, eh? Kohenkyoth preened in the air as she took in her chasers. A male amethyst and a bronze. Not bad, so far. She knew little of either personally, but enough to know either could be ambitious or clever enough to be a worthy match for her. Or perhaps there were others who had not yet arrived; the flight was young yet; things would not be over so quickly.
Kohenkyoth favored amethyst Iyiath with a flirtatious croon. Will you? Perhaps, perhaps not. We shall see. Like Kasprth said, however, this is no game. I've not time or inclination to play around. Swiftly, she surged forward, eager to climb higher into the air. She didn't waste much energy with fancy tricks--she'd never been that good at them, anyway. She did circle around and above Kasprth, turning her attention to the bronze.
You think I care about meaningless titles like Kings and Queens? she hissed. Prove yourself with your actions, not the color or shine of your hide! With that, she was off again, flapping her wings to stay ahead and above her chasers for as long as possible. She let out of shriek of joy. She'd had little interest in flights before, but this was fun!
B'den glanced up as the door opened and glared at the rider who stepped inside. She didn't seem much more pleased to be here than he did, but he wasn't ready to give in fully to Kohenkyoth's feelings quite yet. He kept a healthy distance between them, especially as they were joined by Zi'axe.

The look of surprise on the bronze's face was priceless. What a firey little lady! What a tongue! Answer me this - if it isn't valor you seek, what is your prize? I am fond of fierocity...
His wings stroked the air, taking him a hundred paces above the green. When the time came, if it did, this position would make it faster and easier to sweep to catch Kohenkyoth. Still, she was no doubt fast enough to evade many many moments before he would reach her, only if she so chose.
The way she challanging him was offending but all the more attractive. She did not let him flaunt ot flirt or brag.... This intrigued him. It was new, exciting, puzzling! His tail whipped behind him, and his bronze figure hovered. He did not want to seem ready to seize her. No. That would ruin the fun. He would wait - for now.
--
Zi'axe couldn't say he was happy with the welcome, but chose a corner to sit himself in. Not in a 'timeout' but more of a 'rant-at-dumbass-dragon' sort of thing. His back touched the wall, and moved against the coarse surface until his rear touched the floor. Then his head dipped into his knees. Breathe. In... ... Out... ... In... ... Out... ...
He caught green hide, hissed and pretended he was somewhere else. ... anywhere but here.

Angry reds began to encroach on the lustful purple of Kohenkyoth's eyes. That bronze! He was above her, flying even higher than she was. He was trying to catch her, wasn't he? She hissed a warning at the larger bronze--she'd show him. She'd show them all!
I seek the best, nothing more and nothing less. And you know what, Kasprth? I'm the best! Kohenkyoth swerved off suddenly in a deviation from her former mostly straight flight. Not only was she flying away from Iyiath and more importantly Kasprth, she was pumping her wings hard to gain altitude, trying to rise higher than the bronze. It was a contest now, and all she wanted to do was outfly him. She ignored the ache building first in her wings, then in her lungs. She was reaching the end of her endurance, but she didn't care; she was focused on beating this bronze who thought to "win" her. The lust was almost forgotten in the wake of competition.
The pain and exhaustion sent B'den back to his own body, and he came to with a start. He was almost amazed that she hadn't already fallen out of the sky, but then he remembered himself, and he reached out to Kohenkyoth in a panic. If this flight didn't end soon, he wasn't sure his dragon would be safe. Kohenkyoth!

Kasprth was dismayed that the green was so quick to evade, but he was foolish to think she wouldn't. He let himself glide. He fell a pace, trying to conserve his strength for a final lunge if he so got a chance.
You need not remind or reprime me, Kohenkyoth. I only go after the best. I can tell without the hesitation of a blink, you are of glory. Who could resist such a chance?
The green's sudden expense of energy concerned Kasprth. What if she did plummet? Would he be able to dive after her fast enough to save her? Would she still manage to evade him if he tried, claw and bite and remain enraged?
His lusty violet eyes detected the strain her limbs were giving now, how weak she was becoming. He felt, upon instinct, his muscles tense, readying to give his last burst of energy to attempt to win. But, he would-should-could not force a catch. No. That was not how he won. As much as he was tempted, how much it pleased him to think it (because he knew very well that -or so he fancied- he could catch her if he tried. He was big after all) he would not be so rash. Besides, if she chose him, that meant he was an honorable chaser, fit for the best after all.
Only the best should be able to interest me as you do. I shall punish those who do not pay attention to your glory!
He was tired, getting tired. But, the flight was still on-going. And Kasprth never backs out of a flight.

{{So sorry about the wait!!}}
Iyiath huffed as a big old bronze dared to compete with him. Sure the dragon was impress in size and stature, but he looked slow and too proud for his own good. No matter, Iyiath would merely need to do his best and see what happened, he would prove how masculine he was today! A challenge it is then, Beautiful Lady. I will match you beat for beat and show you how serious I am! He bugled, doing just as he said, beating his wings to climb after her. He was a lithe male though, and he knew that his acrobatics in the air were something the large bronze would be able to beat. Perhaps his skill would impress Kohenkyoth?
As he climbed he added flair to his flight, spins and twists, doing everything he could to remain to the side of Kohenkyoth. If the bronze was taking the sky above, perhaps it would be in his best interest to stay below, the better to catch her if she dove. Not to mention the farther he stayed from the bronze the better. Iyiath may have been confident, but he wasn't stupid; he knew how dangerous the bronze could be.
As Kohenkyoth swerved, Iyiath was forced to tuck his wings and twist in the air, a move he had learned that allowed him to change direction quickly at the cost of altitude. So swift, oh shining lady! Was all he could say as he beat his wings desperately, feeling the strain as he tried to regain the height he had lost. He is not for you, Kohenkyoth. He is too slow and big to keep up with one as quick as you! Iyiath called out, allowing Kasprth to hear him as well. He was still below her, but catching up, his sides heaving in effort. Even so, he added another acrobatic twist. He had to impress her!
Nymari returned Zi'axe's look with ever ounce of dislike she could muster. Sure, she didn't want to be here, but with her mind overtaken by lust she had fallen into the possessive mindset of her dragon. Kohenkyoth's rider would be Hers, not Zi'axe's! She hissed her challenge.

Kasprth's choice to fall back and conserve strength allowed Kohenkyoth to gain some ground (or...air, really). She pumped her tired wings harder and rose level with the bronze, then circled up and above him. She crowed eagerly to her two suitors; though Kasprth had captured much of her attention, she kept an eye on Iyiath as well.
The green's wings faltered, and she wavered in the air, falling for several feet. She was almost afraid of crashing into Kasprth, but fortunately, she managed to catch herself in time and regain her balance. She turned the fall into a controlled dive, angling away from the bronze and amethyst males. That was rather close; she'd seldom flown for so long before, and certainly not as hard. She was feeling the exhaustion now.
B'den was just aware of himself enough to realize he let out a sigh of relief that Kohenkyoth had not injured herself. You've put on a good show. It's time to end it now, don't you think? Make a choice, my dear. Of course it was up to Kohenkyoth, but B'den wasn't about to influence her either way. It wasn't like he was particularly close to either of the riders, but he could tell, connected as they were, that he'd have no regrets either way. It was his last clear thought for awhile as he reached out for Kohenkyoth's mind again.
She--they--let out another proud bugle and glanced at the two chasers. Kohenkyoth's earlier anger was forgotten, and the flightlust was back. She crooned flirtatiously as she glanced between the strong Kasprth and the swift Iyiath. You've both proven yourself to be able fliers. Along with Kohenkyoth herself; mustn't forget that. The choice was made, however. I choose Iyiath, Kohenkyoth said with a croon, never one to mince words. She folded her wings into a shallow dive to meet the amethyst when her wings could carry her no further.

A warble of worry and surprise ripped from Iyiath's throat as Kohenkyoth seemed to fall and he forced himself farther, faster, to catch her. It seemed a false alarm though, as the green executed a nice dive and continued away from her chasers. Angling his wings and allowing the wind to carry him, needing the brief rest, Iyiath persued.
He felt his heart leap into his throat as her compliment washed over him, though there was annoyance that she was complimenting his rival aswell. Oh but she had chosen! She was falling! Iyiath bugled his joy and quickly closed the gap between them, twining around them and spreading his wings, tired as they were, to slow their descent. He was lost for words, simply sharing his joy and excitement through feeling alone. Of course, Iyiath was also still young, and a bit cocky, and he sent Kasprth a feeling akin to sticking his tongue out. Ha! That would show the big guy!
Nymari, eyes still glazed from the flightlust, hissed at Zi'axe to leave before she stepped towards B'den, her intent quite clear. It was time she claimed her prize as well.
