Name: Areni
Pronunciation: are - en - ee
Age: 15
Season Born In: Early winter
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Unsure
Appearance: Short and slight, with dark mahogany hair which often swings forward to cover her light hazel eyes, Areni draws little attention. Add in slumped shoulders and a habit of avoiding eye contact and it's a surprise anyone knows her name. Areni's body is slender and largely curve-less, though her hips are wider than she'd like, disrupting an otherwise boyish figure. Areni tends to wear rather nondescript clothing. Brown, grey, and black make up the majority of her wardrobe, typically somewhat loose or even baggy. Areni takes little pride in her appearance and it doesn't take a great amount of deductive ability to see it.
Personality: Areni is not who you might expect to infiltrate Trelis weyr to spy for the Obsidian Rebellion. She is shy and quiet, more interested in sitting home and reading or transcribing scrolls than sneaking behind enemy lines and taking them down from the inside. Or...whatever she's meant to be doing. Areni has trouble understanding human (and dragon) behavior, at times. She honestly cannot understand why there is a war going on, or what anyone's role is in it. Why would anyone have an issue with new colors? How is the rebellion going to change anything? What is she doing here? Areni is the very definition of a follower; she will never be the one taking initiative and forging her own path because she wouldn't be able to figure out why any path was worth forging. She's content to plod along behind others, following orders she doesn't quite understand.
Areni is...somewhat fragile. Again, not who you would suspect as a spy. She cries easily, she's afraid of the dark, loud noises, sudden movements, and tall men. And she's homesick. Areni didn't expect to Impress and is displeased that she has; two days into this trip she wanted to go home to her mother. Now she has to spend a turn and a half in Trelis. At least!
Areni really doesn't know how to deal with her exhuberant lifemate. She loves him - he's her dragon, after all - but she's not sure if she likes him yet.
Family: Renessi - mother, rider of green Slaeuth (Fort)
G're - father, rider of blue Henth
Reese - brother, 10 turns older
Anessi - sister, 6 turns older
Location: Born in Fort Weyr, moved to Rindell, now in Trelis
Rank: Weyrling
Wing/Pack: Check the wing and pack listing *may be changed depending on where we need whers and dragons*
History: Areni's mother was Renessi, a greenrider in Fort. She was her mother's third child, though she knows her two siblings by name only - she almost certainly couldn't pick them out of a crowd, and they've never really spoken. Renessi gave her first two children to the creche, having neither the desire nor the time to raise children. Six turns passed between the births of the greenrider's second and third children, and when Areni was born, her mother decided to try something new. She could always give Areni over to the creche later, of course, but...perhaps it would be fun to raise this child for a while.
"A while" turned to a year, which turned to two, which turned to more than a decade. Renessi found herself surprised by how much her daughter delighted her. She still relied heavily on assistance from crechemaids, of course, but she didn't let this baby disappear into the throngs of infants like she'd done with her other two. Areni grew up close to Renessi's side and was told often of the lovely green she would surely Impress when she was old enough.
While Areni was very fond of her mother's dragon, she wasn't too sure she wanted one of her own. She wanted to be a harper. She didn't have much musical talent, though, and she found memorization difficult. She could recite a tale from heart, but it didn't have the fluid beauty another harper could give it. She became an assistant, helping with records and transcribing stories, having harpers dictate to her as she quickly copied down their words. It wasn't quite the same, but she loved it.
When Areni was fourteen, her mother decided she should be around dragons more. It was no wonder she'd never Impressed at all the hatchings she'd been tossed at; a dragon wouldn't want to share a mind which was all cluttered up with dusty scrolls, surely. She'd made several contacts in the rebellion, moved by their cause, and decided to send Areni to live there. The girl wasn't pleased and she resisted, but eventually she gave into her mother's insistence.
Areni expected to stand at a hatching in Rindell, be left standing, and be sent back home to Fort. Some of those expectations were met; she stood and failed to Impress. What happened next, though, was a surprise. Areni found herself shipped up to Trelis to stand at a hatching there. With her mother's pressure pushing her on, she couldn't really resist. She figured this would just be another failed Hatching and she could go home.
Instead, she heard a voice call out to her. She met her Fimorth on the sands, guaranteeing that she won't be going home too soon.
Dragon/Wher
Name: Fimorth
Pronunciation: Fim (like fin but with an mmm sound) - or - th
Age: Hatchling (Early fall T203)
Type: Dragon
Rank: Blue
Size: 4.6 at hatching - 23 full grown
Color Codes:
011635
055989
Appearance: Fimorth is among some of the smallest blue dragons out there. But his well-proportioned body and muscles seem to help give him more speed to help make up for his small size. He isnt as agile as some greens or smaller dragons, but he is definitely more agile than larger dragons. But what stands out most about this small dragon is his hide. He is a midnight blue in color that seems to get lighter around his underside which can be described as a Venice blue in color. Needless to say, it stands out quite well against his almost black hide. So all a person has to do to find him whenever it is particularly dark out, is look for the spot of blue that seems to float around and then you shall find this strange little dragon. Though he typically doesn’t stray far from his rider so that might help as well.
Personality: Positives: Fun-Loving, Respectful, Generous, Adventurous, Innocent
Negatives: Obsessive, Over-Bearing, Extremely Loud, Over-Exaggerator, Childish Temper (Often has temper tantrums when he doesn't get what he wants)
In some ways, Fim is very childish. He is prone to throwing hissy fits when he doesn't get exactly what he wants and is easily upset at little slights. Pouting is not uncommon for this dragon. He loves adventures and playing, always looking for new games and new things to do, dragging his (often unwilling) rider along. He also completely fails at volume control. He doesn't seem to understand that some people enjoy sleeping at night, or that there are times when stealth and secrecy might be useful; he tromps around loudly, bugles in the middle of the night, and shouts into the minds of those nearby when excited or upset. If Fim is a child, though, he is at least a fairly kind one. Fimorth is very respectful of those older or higher ranked than him, and of those miscellaneous individuals who have earned his regard in one way or another. He's also far from selfish, always wanting to give things away. Of course, this can be somewhat problematic when he gives away things that aren't exactly his to give, promising people that they can have Areni's dessert tonight, or another dragon's next kill.
For all his potentially childish traits, Fim makes it clear he is no infant. He seeks to control the lives of his bonded and those around them in what ways he sees best. He is over-bearing, pushing Areni to live as he imagines her living. He obsesses over tiny details, wanting everything to go just right and thinking over and over about things that have happened or been said.
Mind-Voice (If applicable):
Hurry Mine, adventure waits for no one!
Fimorth’s voice is a bit shadowy to say the least. It is dark, deep and mysterious; kind of like the deepest oceans and seas. One never really knows what will come from hearing it. Sometimes it is gentle and a bit energetic, at other times it is flat and unemotional. But when he is feeling particularly upset it can become very loud and hard to listen to. This again changes when he is really excited about something. When he gets really excited it seems to vibrate with energy and gets pretty high pitched. Neither of these are something a person would want to listen to for very long.
