Mine, Mine, let me your eyes! I can do it, trust me. A'tide could hear Ninianeth's excitedly thumps as she bounced around the ground at his feet, and he couldn't help but smile. He never liked it when Kaleo gave him flashes of images, since the huntyre's vision was rather weird and usually so jumbled or quick that it came him a headache trying to figure out what was going on. On the other hand, 'Neth was a dragon, and surely dragons would have better vision than huntyres...
"Well...alright. Let's try it at least. Zexx, heel." The canine fell into place beside him, but since his collar was off at the moment, he didn't do anything else. He knew he wasn't supposed to work today. Still, A'tide wanted him nearby just in case things didn't work out as well as 'Neth was sure they would. Fortunately, the canine was well-accustomed to dragons and was particularly unimpressed with Ninianeth. He had been introduced to the green as soon as A'tide moved into their new room in the Weyrling Barracks, and it didn't take long for 'Neth to become jealous of the canine that spent almost as much time in A'tide's presence as she did. Ah well, the two of them would just have to deal with each other.
Okay, here we go, 'Neth said, her low voice tinged with excitement. A'tide let out a short gasp as the dragon's vision filled his own eyes. Well, it was certainly clearer than Kaleo's images were. Was that what Ninianeth truly looked like? Smaller than him with a long tail-appendage, definitely no wings--
Don't be silly, Mine. That's your annoying dog-creature. I'm me, obviously. The dragon cast her eyes over her own body, showing off her claws and long, long tail, the finny protrusions on her feet and most importantly, her bright green hide. It wasn't the best mental picture since he was still seeing her through her own eyes, but it was still new to him.
He grinned. "You're beautiful." Then he groaned as he blinked eyes that weren't actually seeing anything. "This is going to get confusing fast."
Not to worry. I'm sure you'll pick it up in no time. We're awesome, A'tide, you and me. You got that? Now let's go see this Rox person that's in your head and you can introduce me to her. I want to make sure I approve of her and her great red behemoth before they have too much of a bad influence on you. Now it's just through this door right? Oh, this thing's the door. Oh look, there's a hallway here. I guess there's still a ways to go. It's to the right, correct?
There was a loud crack and a sharp, shooting pain in A'tide's face, but mostly his nose. He'd walked straight into a wall. Oh! I'm sorry, Mine! I sorta forgot to account for you being left of where my eyes are pointing. Let's try that again. There was another dull thunk, though it was his fingers this time. He'd put his hands out in front of him after 'Neth's first attempt to direct him. Oh, I think that was a little too far to the left, still. Okay, now try going forward...and turn right. Good! Now where's this Rox person's weyr...what do you mean you don't know?
"I don't know, I always seemed to meet up with her at other places," A'tide explained as he took careful steps down the hallway. Beside him, Zexx whined worriedly, and A'tide placed a reassuring hand on his neck. Zexx stopped, and a moment later, the image of the hallway he was receiving from 'Neth disappeared as he tumbled down a series of hard surfaces. Fortunately, the fall was brief, but he groaned and reached out for Zexx, ready now to fasten his collar on.
Ninianeth whined worriedly. A'tide! I showed you the steps, didn't I? They were right in front of you.
"Is that what steps look like?" A'tide said vaguely. Depth perception was a tricky devil.

Roxikanta had just shut her weyr door when a great deal of thumping was heard. She whirled quickly around, slipping around the bend in the hall. It took her the length of a second to see who lay in a heap. "A'TIDE!" She gasped, louder than she had meant.
The red-head dropped to kneel beside the boy, unaware of 'Neth for the moment. "A'tide, are you hurt? Well... yes you took a tumble down stairs... do you think anything is broken?"
Rox's heart was rocketing in her chest. He had just Impressed--
Her head jerked up to stare at the very worried green. What happened? Did BlindFriend get hurt?? Yes but I'm here with him now.
She focused on the hatchling. "Are you ok as well, dear little one?"

A'tide couldn't help wincing at Rox's shout, though he soon regretted it. He couldn't help it though, his ears were still ringing from his crash. He hissed in pain, but with Rox's help he managed to climb to his feet and did a quick inspection of his body. He grimaced as he felt a twisted ankle, and then said. "Don't worry, the nose and the bruised fingers are old. A little. Anyway...I think I may have twisted my ankle. And I'm sure I have a plethora of new bruises from the steps, but...other than that, I'm fine?"
Ninianeth huffed at him worriedly. This is no joking matter, Mine! You are injured, come, we must get you to the healers immediately. Do not worry, though, if they do not make it better, I shall bite them.
"No, really, 'Neth, I'm fine." A'tide hastened to reassure the young dragon. "Just put some bandages on it, maybe some ice, and I'll be fine." Okay, ice probably wouldn't be easy to get in Rindell's tropical climate, but at least he knew there were plenty of bandages.
'Neth growled in frustration, but then she heard Rox address her. Her yellow eyes were shot through with a sliver of suspicious red at Rox's words, and she turned back to A'tide. A'tideMine, you may tell the human I am uninjured, but she is to take you to the healers immediately.
"'Neth thanks you kindly for thinking of her, and wants to assure you that she is fine, and I don't need anything else."
Miiiiine. That's not what I said!
"By the way, I don't think you've met. 'Neth, this is Roxikanta, rider of Garnet Aeurosth. Rox, this is my dragon, Green Ninianeth."

Roxikanta tried to force A'tide to lean on her, quite aware his ankle was swelling fast. "What were you doing?" It was not a demanding or rude question. Really quite baffled. Rox had a good idea what the pair was doing. Sharing the joys of a dragon bond. Testing and exploring. Every weyrling did this, however not quite as... painfully usually...
"You really should get a wrap on that. I won't force you. I know you would rather be treated normally instead of every rider hovering over you. I would be the same. But you don't need to be afriad to ask for help. I respect you. You hear? I think you are amazing with balancing everything. I'm around. And now you can instantly contact me through your very special and beautiful 'Neth."
The woman smiled at the green, nodding respectfully to the dragonet. She was quite unique despite lacking wings...

For a moment, A'tide thought about resisting just for the heck of it, but he decided that really would be silly, and he took the opportunity to lean against Rox. His ankle was just hurting too much to do otherwise, really. "Well, 'Neth was getting jealous of Zexx, I think, and she decided she could do a better job of guiding me than he could," A'tide stroked the canine's thick fur gratefully as he spoke. "I mean, with dragons being able to share their vision with their rider through their link, you'd think it'd be easy, right?" He smiled wryly. "Well, you saw the result."
I'm sorry, Mine, I didn't think too much about the stairs. The green did eye Rox contemplatively once she heard what the woman had said. Humph. I suppose your taste in friends is not quite as worrying as I thought. She has good sense, you should take all of her advice.
A'tide grimaced. "You're almost as bad as 'Neth," he sighed. "Do you have a wrap? Or at least something to tie around it?" He could have gone to the healers, he supposed, but he didn't want to move more than necessary, and since he was apparently already at Rox's weyr... "'Neth thinks you're not too bad, by the way. Mostly because you called her beautiful, I think."
A'tide, stop that! 'Neth said with a snort. You're making me look bad.
Ha! He thought to her. I'm making you sound bad, rather. Anyway, I don't think there's a thing I could do now to make her not like you.

Rox was for some reason bothered by the way A'tide sighed. She expected him to do that crazy eye-roll thing or something. She felt as if she was.... doing something wrong?
"I guess women just seem to know best then, isn't that right 'Neth?" She winked at the dragon, managing to lean A'tide on the stairs.
"I have a wrap in my room. I'm hardly two doors down, but it might be best to not cause any more swelling..." She sort of rambled on as she jogged back yo the weyr. Auerosth nearly knocked her down by thrusting his snout at her. Where are they? I want to meet them!
He had to be reminded with a swift shove that he was huge. "A'tide spranged his ankle. We'll have to do a meeting another-"
In the hallway?
Before Roxikanta could even draw a breath, her excited Garnet had strained his neck out the door, whimpering in dismay as his head hardly could get out. He had enough sense to not wiggle or shove, as the wall would crumble.
Greetings A'tide and little special princess! I seem to be too large to greet you two properly....
Rox shoved her way out of the door, with a bundled wrap. "I think this will work... And excuse my dragon. That's Auerosth. He's dieing to meet you." Only a crimson part snout could be seen, along with the sound of sniffing and huffing.
Very gingerly she started to wrap A'tide's foot. "Look. I really don't mean to sound like some old hag I promise... I guess I'm showing my age.... But I really just want to ensure your- oh shards... Listen to me! What am I doing? I'm worse then a gold...."

"Ha ha. Also, hah," A'tide said dryly as he leaned against the wall of the stairs.
'Neth came a stop at his feet. She watched as Rox went to get the wrap and then told A'tide, You should be grateful to have a friend to take care of this stuff for you.
"I'm being a good boy and waiting, aren't I? Anyway, I only need her help because of my ankle. Otherwise I'd be taking care of it myself. I prefer doing things myself."
Mine, don't be silly! You don't have to do things yourself, now. I'm here, I'll protect you and help you, 'Neth crooned.
A'tide's response was a scowl. "I don't need a nursemaid or a guardian, 'Neth. I'm blind, but I'm not an invalid. I'm supposed to be taking care of you."
Ninianeth didn't make a further response, and A'tide assumed it was because she had nothing to say. It would be more accurate to say it was because Aeurosth's big red snout and a bit of his face had appeared in the end of the hallway behind Rox. Oh dear, didn't the poor dragon realize he would never fit through there? Hello, big red behemoth, it's alright, I think we can meet properly later. It is very kind of you to greet me and Mine, however.
Between Ninianeth's comment and the snuffling sounds from Aeurosth, it wasn't hard for A'tide to guess what had happened. He felt Rox take his ankle to wrap the cloth around it, and resteadied himself. "I could do it myself...but thank you," he told her. "And what do you mean, showing your age? You don't sound very old at all. You can't be much older than I am."

Guiltily, Rox was again glad her friend was blind, as her cheeks burned. "I've lived on my own quite a while now... I just thought my rambling sounded as if I was nearly 100 turns... Too much maternal instincts I guess..."
Her hands gingerly tied his ankle before staring at her Garnet. Really, you should get your large face from the hall before a drudge passes out from fear.... We wouldn't need that....
Auerosth puffed indignantly but wiggled to retract his red body away. "Should I leave you be now, A'tide? Can I get a promise you won't take another tumble? Because... I will not have that."
The red-head smiled, watching the Greenrider kindly.

A'tide was not a total idiot. He could hear the apologetic tone in Rox's voice and decided to give her a bit of a break. She had gone out of her way to help him, after all, and he was sure he hadn't made it as easy for her as he could have. He kept his mouth shut instead of making some sarcastic comment.
He could hear Aeurosth's body retreating, and it wasn't long before his ankle was firmly wrapped. Though Rox asked him if he would be alright now, he didn't answer directly; instead, he gave a little whistle and unbuckled Zexx's collar from where he had been carrying it around his upper arm. The canine stood up, ears perked at attention while A'tide put the collar around his neck. He pointedly ignored 'Neth's grumbling from his other side, though she wisely did not offer to be his guide again.
"Don't worry, Zexx should be able to handle it from here. 'Neth will do her best to help as well, no doubt." The green was crowding his right side, urging him to lean on her, (something A'tide tried to avoid doing, in fact, fearing he'd overburden her at such a young age) but 'Neth gave a cordial nod to Rox before she turned away.
You may thank her for me, A'tideMine. She has been a good help to us since your accident. Maybe she and the red behemoth can stop by and visit us later, instead.
"Thanks for your help," A'tide's words were sincere. "'Neth says thank you as well. She also suggested you stop by to see us later with Aeurosth, if you can. It'll probably have to wait until just before or after a weyrling lesson, though. She does tend to spend much of the rest of the time asleep."
I do not, Mine. Ninianeth protested, though even now she was battling to resist a yawn.
