It was a quiet night in the temporary quarters of G'daro and Banemith at the Rebellion, and Bellatrix was up and about. Fizgig was sound asleep, and didn't really care for her today. She sneaked out of the quarters through the window and immediately went straight for the stables. She dove upon a rat and killed it. She quickly bloodied it, for today was the day, when all dragons, whers and flitts like her must fly. She killed another rat and bloodied it dry.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the stars for the hundredth time in her life. She gazed at them for a moment and knew that she was better than them, she was brilliant, she was a Gold! With a lustful cry, she leaped into the starry night, calling to all the males in the Rebellion that she was fit, strong and ready for the night of her life.

The wild fire lizard was young, only a few seasons old, but he had chased females before. He was a strong, fierce bronze, and when he heard the call of the humans' queen, he could not resist. He climbed to his feet, shaking a few stray bits of dirt from his hide, and spread his wings. The wild bronze shrieked in pride and lust as he jumped into the air, and he hummed to the young gold, pleased to see he was the first to join chase.

The brown had been dozing. Dozing shardit! Then he had to be woken up by some little pretty Green....or...well, not Green. Oh no, definitely not a mere green. Crooning appreciatively the Sub-King flicked his tail and cackled happily. Oh a Queen was rising, now this was something worth being woken for! He hissed as a young King flew past, but other than that didn't give any attention to the other chaser. No, this brown had been through enough flights to know when to really focus on the pretty lady and when to keep an eye on the other boys chasing her.
Sure he was a little old, little meaning he was dulling around his muzzle and wings, but he could still keep up! Chittering a greeting he fell into flight behind her, somewhere to the left of the Bronze and twirled through the air, following her lead. Oh yes, flights were always fun to get up for. He could sleep later most definitely!

Yim lifted his black face to watch the lovely queen rise. He shrank back somewhat as the bigger, scary males joined. Oooooh! What if they hurt him?
But the skittish ebony could not deny the lust he felt. He was a simple fighter, but... but he would try!
As boldly as he could muster, he crooned a flirty song. He shook out his wings, beating until his silver belly lifted into the air. Pretty pretty Queen! Let him prove a shy soldier could win!
His violet eyes never left the other males for long. They were big and it scared him...
But...Yim was brave for the worthy Queen! He would take claws and slashes for her...
He strove to get near, being swifter than the others. His body was thin and zipped all around. He would try!!

Now this was a flight, oh yes now this was something he could really get into for such a queen. His garnet hide shone from a recent oiling Rorce cried out his challenge. His eyes whirled fast as he saw that he was not alone as he spotted a bronze and brown hide before him as he closed in. Softly he hissed towards the competition, how dare they try to fly something well out of their league. With a little humph however he turned his head to the gold Bellatrix with a trill.
Sure he wasn't a Rebellion fire lizard, but he had been flying nearby of his explorations. He wanted freedom sometimes away from his human, he wanted something to get his blood going.. And he found it as he trilled loudly towards the Gold and her beauty. Just trying to catch up and stay caught up for now as he kept an eye out for his rivals... rivals that may or may not find his claws not friendly he didn't know that. But he would welcome a mid flight fight that would be the icing on the cake so to speak for him.

Bellatrix trilled a greeting to the bronze, the brown, the garnet, and the ebony as she rose higher and higher. Now this was going to be interesting after all! She rose to a specific point and dove in a corkscrew, then spread her wings at the perfect moment into a glide. She looked behind her, calling to her chasers, testing each one of them to her and their very limits. She then did a loop over the males until she was right behind them, then spiraled out of sight.
She reappeared in front, her eyes swirling with purple. She trilled a love song to all the males and spiraled out of sight again, this time reappearing behind the wild brown. She toyed with him, flying over him, stroking his head with her tail and crooning lustfully. She then moved on to the wild bronze, this time using her front claw to scratch under his lower jaw. She dove under Rorce and tickled his belly with her tail. Then came Yim, who was given a warning hiss before moving on to lead the pack.
She flew low over the ocean, sending sprays of water with every wingbeat. Then she turned around and flew right over the males back towards Rindell. She would have to use her wits and every ounce of strength to choose her true victor this night, her night to shine brighter than the stars!

The little ebony shrank back from the gold as she hisses at him, his violet eyes yellowing. Oh... he was so scared! It took a lot of his courage to keep from betweening...
He chirped and trilled at her, ignoring the other males. He could dive away from them if they swooped, even the Garnet! He was small and swift but had less energy. So he rose above the rest so he could do more loops and gliding to save his strength for the final try.
Oh pretty Queen! No one would keep him from pleasing her! His body twisted and spun, dropped and rose in a complex and serious display of his agility and grace. He would dance for her. Sing for her. She was such a pretty gold!!

The wild bronze paid little attention to his competition. The brown would be one to watch, but the ebony was practically ignored. He did return the big garnet's hiss, promising to return strike for strike if the red fire lizard tried to attack him, but mostly, he kept his attention on the gold.
He half-heartedly reached for her when she came near him, but he knew it was a doomed effort as soon as he began. She was too fast, too strong still, and the flight was nowhere near its end yet. That was alright though, he could be patient. He followed behind the queen, trying to stay ahead of his competitors while saving what strength he could for the end.

Rorce just crooned towards the Gold as he followed her through her twists and turns... but wait where did she go!! Quickly he looked around rather bewildered with a little squeak until suddenly she appeared in front of them again. Aha!! what a crafty little queen!! He trilled softly back and reached out to try to grab her as she passed him by to tickle his tummy but he wasn't swift enough.. He didn't want to slice her tail off that would be too big of a scar for one such as her of course.
He hissed back at the bronze and ebony before he twisted and turned, the garnet tried to show off by doing some upside down flying... But it didn't work as he dropped far faster then he had hoped and needed to catch up suddenly behind even the ebony. He hissed in frustration, that is what he got for trying to do tricks he never usually did before.

Oh he was following her, but so were others. The old brown snorted in agitation at the notion, not liking the rivals he had found in the other males. Couldn't he chase the lovely Queen by himself in peace....or go back to sleep. That sounded nice too. Yawning, the brown folded in his wings and fell toward the Queen and her other suitors, missing her and trailing the leading edge of his wing in the surf. So she had led them out over the ocean where the thermals could raise them high above the waves? And yet she had flown low against the splashing water. Trilling, the brown twisted around and snorted, continuing on his chase.

Bellatrix was getting tired as she rose for the final climb, and soon she must end her flight and choose her victor. She went over her choices carefully: the ebony and the old brown were not to her taste. That left the bronze and the garnet. The garnet did not follow her well enough, so she made her choice right there and then. She rose to a point, a point to where she was a shadow of the moon, then dove at the wild bronze.
She was caught and together they spiraled, their tails entwined. She crooned as she nuzzled the wild bronze's neck; she had made a good choice.

The ebony understood. A queen did not and should nit choose a fight.
The black flit blinked between and left the lovers be....
