Chahaturth sighed contentedly as she inspected her now hardened clutch. She reached out for the minds of all the candidates that she knew about, even the annoying ones that had woken her after she had first clutched. Alright it is time to touch my wonderful eggs! And if any of you even Think of harming one of them I will eat you for a snack! There was a hiss and a soft growl to her voice as she spoke. D’tri just shook his head as he sat comfortably on his large topaz’s foreleg. You really should be nicer to them Chaha. They are the ones that will impress whatever hatches from the eggs after all. He smiled happily as he patted her chest. She just snorted at his comment as she watched carefully for the arriving candidates. She kept looking back at her precious eggs, as if something bad might happen whenever she turned her eyes away from them.
- - - - - - - - - - - - woo woo, here I come, woo woo, back to you there ain’t no home like the one you got ‘cause that home belongs to you table © derek ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chahaturth's Eggs
Pan-Roasted Chicken Cutlets Egg: It is very obvious as to what is inside of the Pan-Roasted Chicken Cutlets Egg. After all it is a typical bronze in color and is at the very edge of the clutch and appears as though it is guarding all of the other eggs. Those that walk past this egg get a wary feeling, as though whatever is inside of the egg doesn’t want them to get too close. But those that are brave enough to actually touch this egg get the feeling of great pride and accomplishment. As though the dragon hidden under the bronze shell is proud that they were brave enough to take the chance and touch its shell.
Apple Butter Pork Loin Egg: The Apple Butter Pork Loin egg is a kind of purplish blue egg with a few splotches of a redish orange coloring all over its smooth shell. This mid-sized egg sits near the middle of the clutch, and tends to give of a gentle calming feeling to any and all that walk past this egg. When a person touches this speckled egg though, they get the sudden urge to do something. It is almost as though whatever is inside of this egg wants the person touching it to get to work and stop being lazy, no matter how hard working they are.
Ruby Red Grapefruit Egg: This very large egg is a ruby red in color, with pale pink heart shaped spots all over it. It is a very smooth egg, and the feeling that a person gets from touching this egg is one of a calm, protectiveness. It is almost as though the inhabitant is more than willing to protect everyone that nears it. Whenever anyone walks by this ruby red egg they feel a kind of pull coming from it, as if it is trying to get you to come near it. This isn't always the best idea since it sits close to Chahaturth's large front paws.
Green Bean Casserole Egg: The Green Bean Casserole Egg is a very dark red, with a light brown circle around the top and bottom of the egg. It also has very pale yellow vertical stripes down the sides. When people walk past this egg, they feel as though it was trying to reach out, and trip them. A real sense of mischief seems to come off this egg in waves. Yet whenever someone touches it, they feel a sense of quiet forgiveness, as if the egg was trying to say sorry for being so mischievous.
Plum Cobbler Egg: The feeling you get when you approach this egg is a gentle calmness. As if the inhabitant is in no hurry to be free. This egg is medium in size, and seems to be quite content to sit among the smaller eggs. It kinda looks as though the Plum Cobbler egg is protecting, and guiding the smaller eggs. This medium sized brown egg has lighter green and orange polka-dots all over the egg that kinda give it a friendly look. When a person touches this egg they feel a calmness envelop them. It isn't sudden, but gradual, and it seems to make a person relax.
Tater Tot Casserole Egg: The Tater Tot Casserole Egg is a soft off-white, with dark brown rings all around the egg. The rings start at the top of the egg, and circle down to the bottom. When people approach the egg, they feel a slight playfulness coming from the egg. It is almost as though it wants to just run around and have a good time. Yet whenever people touch it, they feel like the egg is trying hold them there, and doesn't want them to leave.
Fig and Blue Cheese Tart Egg: The Fig and Blue Cheese Tart Egg is an extremely dark grey that looks almost black in color with dark yellow zig-zaging lines all over it. The feeling that people get when they walk by this egg is that it is actually trying to blend into the shadows. It sits away from the rest of the clutch, and seems to be hiding from everything and everyone. People that touch this egg feel as though the creature in side of it is trying to hide from one's touch. It sits closer to Chahaturth's
Blackberry Cheese Pie Egg: The Blackberry Cheese Pie Egg is the third smallest egg of the clutch and seems to be hiding behind all of the others because it sits almost hidden by Chahaturth’s side and the other eggs. It seems to go pretty much unnoticed by just about everyone and everything, which seems to suit this egg just fine. But whenever it is noticed, and someone does touch its solid violet shell, they get the feeling that whatever might be inside the shell is either hiding from their touch, or there is nothing there at all. But if a person is persistent enough in keeping their hand on the violet shell they will eventually feel a slight, hesitant greeting. It is also closest to the Fig and Blue Cheese Tart Egg, which sits just a few feet away. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, I will attempt to put the eggs in order by which eggs are by which. x.x Bare with me please. Starting with the ones closest to her tail: Fig and Blue Cheese Tart Egg (Near her back paw, about 1 1/2 to the right of the Blackberry Cheese Tart Egg) Blackberry Cheese Pie Egg A 1 1/2 away from the Fig and Blue Cheese Tart Egg, near the edge of her belly) Plum Cobbler Egg (Near her belly, about six inches away from the Blackberry Cheese Pie Egg) Tater Tot Casserole Egg (In front of the Plum Cobbler Egg, about a foot apart) Apple Butter Pork Loin Egg (About a foot to the left of the Tater Tot Casserole Egg, near the middle of the clutch) Green Bean Casserole Egg (On the right side of Chahaturth's large front paw, about two feet to the left of the Apple Butter Pork Loin Egg) Ruby Red Grapefruit Egg (In between Chahaturth's front paws) Pan-Roasted Chicken Cutlets Egg About 2 1/2 feet in front of the Apple butter Pork Loin Egg, closest to the stands) (((OOC: I will post a reply with each egg, so please only touch one or two at a time MAX per candidate. Otherwise you will be waiting a while for your other responses.)))

Mae threw on a tunic and patted at her hair carelessly. It was time!
Pip opened one eye at the girl before stretching and returning to sleep. Violette and Tiide took to her shoulders. "You two need to stay here. I am visiting the eggs."
Both were shooed away...
--
Mae dashed down the hallways, skidding at each turn. She slowed and caught her breath a moment before entering the sands.
All of the eggs were stunning. Mae was not stupid, but she was a brave child. She stood before Chahaturth, bowing respectfully. "Please forgive me the other day for waking you. I meant no harm. I am so sorry for my actions, dear Queen."
She came closer to the Topaz, bowing again before coming closer to the Ruby Red Grapefruit egg. That shell... it was amazing, like the others but just...
"Your clutch is superior Chahaturth. Look at how they glimmer." Then very gingerly, Mae touched the warm egg, well aware where the Queen's limbs and jaws were. She was quite prepared for aggression, but hoped it would not be so.
The egg was so pretty... Her fingers traced the delicate yet strong shell...

Kyprioth shivers as he feels the dragons call in his mind. He had stolen a few looks at her eggs during the nights, when he was certain she wouldn’t mind and would be asleep. Mind he had been so far away that all he had truly seen was just vague glimpses of the eggs themselves, but he had snuck in to see them never the less. The chance that she could awake and possibly eat him had been too great to miss out on! Sadly he had never been munched, oh well there was always the hatching itself.
Used to the touch of a dragons mind, at least thanks to Kyprioth his name sake may he ever be revered for life-and Kayath, he grins as he jumps to his feet not bothering to do much but a quick clean up on his face. He was in his tent outside, having managed thanks to J’dol to not have to stay in the barracks. As always because of where he was sleeping he was covered in a bit more dust and ‘outside’ stuff than normal, but he doesn’t seem to notice. He’s a tuber farmer after all, or he was, and he was used to smelling far worse.
He forces Banner to stay in the tent curled up and angry about his handler touching eggs as he all but rushes to the sands. He’s quick to bow to the great dragon lady (though inwardly he can’t help but think that Kayath was far prettier than this one) and smile charmingly at her his silvery eyes sparkling with want and interest.
“Greetings great lady! Yor wees are beautiful, right, and thank yer for the bloody chance ter touch them, init?I just got 'ere recently so I were not able ter properly admire them.” The charming little git was at least just that-charming. He meant what he said even if he did think that Kayath had a far superior color to her hide. Mind, he was half in love with the dragon but he thinks nothing of it as he steps delicately onto the sand.
He’s delicate for all of two seconds. His gaze lingers on the only other person there at the moment, he bows his head to her in greeting and stumbles falling with a rather high pitched yelp. His lack of grace came into play it would seem. Scrambling to his feet as quick as a bag of ferrets he brushes the burning sand off of his body with a wince apologizing to the nearest egg the Blackberry Cheese pie Egg.
“Oi sorry about that! Struth! Didn't mean ter go about fallin' in yor presence, right, ffough yer deserve blokes bowin' at yer I'm bloody well sure! Blimey!” He cocks his head to the side as he runs a gentle unsure hand over the shell. Something makes him feel like he shouldn’t be touching it, like it’s wrong and he peeks around at the mother with a frown. Did…was this egg okay? He patted it a bit harder wondering if perhaps it was a dud, dreaded even thinking that but continued to stroke it never the less. “S’beaut.” He murmured to the poor egg idly watching the mother out of the corner of his eye should she take it amiss that he was grabbing the egg closest to her. Wasn’t his fault! He had fallen near it, and plus it just…it seemed like it wanted company.

Koroniket had just put some pastries in one of the large ovens in the kitchens when the mother called to him and the other Candidates. He dusted flower off of his hands onto his apron, informed someone of where he was going and gave them detailed instructions on how to remove a hot dish from an oven, and then removed his apron and headed off.
It didn't take him too long to reach the Sands, and he gave a winning smile to the topaz. "Chahaturth, darling, you look marvelous today." He looked to the clutch and continued his flattery. "And I never thought such a thing was possible, but you seem to be nearly matched in beauty today; your eggs are stunning!"
Oh but deary me, one of the other Candidates seemed to be having difficulties. Koroniket gave a soft laugh as he walked towards him - not at the poor boy, of course. It was just an endeared, tolerant chuckle, as a parent might give before going to remove their child's head from a bucket. By the time he reached Kyprioth, the unfortunate youth had righted himself. Of course, now he seemed to be slapping at the egg a little.
Koroniket couldn't help the little "tsk" that escaped him before he caught Kyprioth's moving hand in his own and pressed it flat, their fingers intertwining enough that his own fingers touched the blackberry cheese pie egg between Kyprioth's. "You want to do it like this, see? There's hardly any point in touching the eggs if you're just going to flap your hand all around before it can get a good look at you."
He hesitated a moment as he felt nothing, eyes raising to the eggs' mother. "Of course, I suppose it doesn't matter, here. Chahaturth, are you sure you aught to be keeping this egg? Warming a dud just sounds a tad risky, to me." He dropped his voice a little, though of course when you were trying to speak to a dragon rather than someone right near you, you spoke a tad loud. Still, at least he tried to hide the fact that he had to teach this to someone who didn't know such a simple fact. "It's just that eggs tend to smell a bit foul if they're kept around too long. Especially if you heat them up. Wouldn't want it getting smashed open during the hatching, would you? Of course, I understand it must be hard, the thought of this egg being dead. But it would be better if you accepted it, don't you think? Of course you do." He looked around expectantly, as if a crew would be right in to remove the egg which was clearly a dud.

Another touching, her second one now since she had come to the Weyr.... Linda knew she would be seeing Firo at the young queen's clutch he wouldn't miss it. But she was just going to try to ignore everyone and everything but the eggs. Fire Lizards and Huntyres alike were forced to stay behind, she didn't really need to piss off the mother again like when it was laid... At least she could say she has seen the eggs being laid of almost all the eggs she stood for. Linda made her way to the sands after checking up on her bandages and smelling salts. It wouldn't do to pass out again in another touching of course.
There was already a few people here touching the eggs, her eyes immediately landed on Mae and a frown went over her face. For some reason she just felt that the girl was pushing things all the time, the clutching last time she was on the stands, this time right up against the Topaz's favorite egg straight shot... What was she going to do next jump in front of a topaz or bronze once it hatched? Part of her hoped so, maybe then she would at least get hurt and maybe grow smarter from it...
Slowly though she bowed towards Chahaturth with a calm and serious expression upon her face. "Before I come to touch your eggs as a Candidate, I am here to apologize for my behavior while you were trying to sleep. I know I got carried away as I tried to get people to behave and stepped out of line Great Queen." Several moments passed as she stood there waiting to see if the Queen accepted or at least let her go touch. However if she did allow it she would start to move forward to slowly move amongst the eggs. The last touching still fresh in her mind, already making her swear not to touch the garnet or purple amethyst looking eggs or else she might have something bad happen.
While roaming amongst the eggs however she stopped as she heard Koroniket start speaking about how the egg was a dud and should be carted out. A scowl went across her face as she walked the few steps over and tapped the other boy's shoulder, Then pointed away she didn't want this boy named Kyp getting eating along with him. "Lady Chahaturth, I can take care of him for you off the hatching grounds away from your precious eggs if you want... And you boy should be ashamed of yourself and your conduct about such things."
Jessee wasn't happy, he had to leave behind his Huntyres in order to go touch the darling eggs. And of course he couldn't do so yet until he got himself ready and looking just fine and dandy. Making sure his hair was properly brushed then tied up in its unique hairstyle, and of course his dazzling simplistic outfit with matching thick sandals. He had heard the heat of the sands and he was not about to risk his precious dancer feet.
Finally however he had finished his little fixing up and preening, his stride was purposeful and full of pride. Obviously he would get the most manly of the clutch, because yes he was the manliest man there ever was even with his slight frame. His feminine chin was raised high as he slowly entered the Hatching grounds, only to give a little flourish and dazzle show off bow towards the Topaz Chahaturth and gave a little smile. "A very wonderful clutch my lady, and they only pale in comparison to the glow that surrounds you. Weyr Lord Sir it is an honor to be here as well." But he didn't stay for chitchat, that wasn't on the agenda. With a little smile he started to walk forward and cautiously approached the Pan Roasted Chicken Cutlets Egg because it was obviously the most manly looking one of the bunch.

Firo strode, almost strutted, into the hatchings sands, looking all the world like he was a king. And, in his own mind, he rather was. He was Firo, son of a brownrider, and future rider of a bronze. Yes, a bronze, because nothing less would suit him. Well, he supposed a brown like his father's would work too, but non of those mutants. He was above them, all of them. With a flourish, he bowed before Chahaturth.
"Beautiful Queen Chahaturth, please forgive me for my rude behaviour that night. I would be most honoured to touch your clutch." He supposed lying and saying the topaz was a queen would suffice, despite her being only a sub. Standing tall, the muscular young teen straightened the colour of his shirt and stepped towards the eggs, passing by Linda on his way.
"Don't faint this time twinkle toes," He mumbled to her, giving a sneer as he stepped past. "Seeing you pass out was embarassing." He continued moving towards the eggs, he already knew which one he was going to touch; the big one, the one meant for him. Then of course candidates everywhere were being stupid, for lack of a better term.
"Oi, dumb shit, don't go falling into the eggs. I'm surprised they let a clutz like you anywhere near here." He would have commented on Koroniket's little speech of doom, but not only did Linda beat him to it, but he knew the mother would likely deal out justice on her own. Yeah, he'd leave that one alone for now. Hmm.. but there was someone else at his egg, well, there was no way he was going to touch it at the same time. He supposed he could pick a different one. So, he knelt down by the Tater Tot Casserole Egg and, much to his surprise, he felt he didn't quite want to leave it. Intriguing, he supposed.
J'dol groaned, looking himself over in the looking glass. He didn't want to dress up. It was hot outside and he was too warm for his own liking and he would really rather be cool than look all fancy and lordly. You're Weyrlord, J'dol. you're supposed to wear your floppy ears and dance for the public. With a huff, J'dol decided he did NOT want to be Weyrlordly today and instead pulled the shirt over his head, tossed it in the corner, and headed out the door. It was hot, they'd understand why he wanted to be shirtless, right?
Approaching the sands, he sent out a mental thought to Kayath, demanding that she behave and not cause a ruckus, though from the annoyed silence he got back he knew it wasn't meant to be. Well, hopefully Chahaturth had matured enough to ignore her. Kayath picked a ledge a decent height up from the eggs, making sure she had plenty of distance between herself and the other topaz. Greetings Wench. You're looking dull and boring, as always. I suppose congratulations are in order though. You've outdone yourself with your eggs. They're rather pretty. With a sigh, J'dol jogged down to the edge of the sands and waved at first D'tri, then at Kyprioth, pleased to see the man hadn't had a break down and run away from the Weyr.
"Hey there Chahaturth, ignore Kayath, you're absolutely stunning today. Mind if I take a closer look at your eggs, darling?" he stepped on to the sands and moved to walk towards D'tri, wanting to give congratulations and to see the touching from up close. "Hey, CutieKyp, don't be falling for anyone else now!" He called out as the candidate fell, though his back was turned for the rest of the goings on. He did however, tense as a candidate dared to imply an egg was a dud. Maybe being on the sands was not such a good idea...

Chahaturth growled softly as the first candidate appeared, and it just so happened that she was one of the humans that had woken her when she had first clutched. She would have to keep an eye on this one. She lowered her head dangerously close to Mae’s head as she went to touch one of the eggs that lay between her forepaws, a soft growl echoing in the topaz dragoness’ throat. D’tri smiled and nodded as the first candidate approached his dragon. Come now Chahaturth, I’m sure they were, and are, excited about the eggs. I’m sure none of them will harm any of them. He patted her large neck once again as he spoke, trying to make her feel a little more comfortable about the candidates being here. Not that either of them had much time to worry too much about Mae before yet another candidate showed up.
Chahaturth just snorted at Kyprioth’s words, she was much too worried about the noisy little human that was between her paws. I’m sure Chahaturth is pleasantly pleased with your thoughts about her eggs. D’tri smiled down at the young man from where he was sitting with his legs dangling off of the large topaz’s foreleg. Though he couldn’t help but yelp when he felt his dragon tense, and start to rise after Kyprioth fell. The new mother whined piteously as she quickly checked on her small violet egg. At least he hadn’t harmed it physically, but so help her if he mentally damaged her child! It’s alright Chahaturth, I’m sure he didn’t mean it. And look, there is no damage to the egg. So much for a happy touching. Nothing was working out quite as he had planned, which made him wonder just how much more his dragon could take before she really did eat someone.
D’tri had been so busy with trying to calm his own dragon he hadn’t even noticed J’dol at first. Sorry J’dol, I don’t remember a touching being so tense before. There was a week smile on the man’s face as he finally greeted the other topaz rider. Chahaturth hadn’t even registered that Kayath had spoken, she was too worried about her dragons. If a dragon had hair, Chahaturth would probably be in the middle of pulling it all out strand by strand! Thankfully nothing else happened for a little while, and the new mother was finally able to relax a little. She turned her nervously swirling gaze upon yet another candidate as he spoke to her, and gave a weak croon as he complimented her eggs. She watched as Koroniket went over and attempted to help the clumsy candidate that nearly squished her little egg. Finally, someone that knew what they were doing and was actually polite about it!
Not that the peace was meant to last. Chahaturth growled dangerously when she heard Koroniket calling her little Blackberry Cheese Pie Egg a dud. She roared loudly at the sky, having only just been turned away from snapping up the candidate by the appearance of more and a hard shove from her rider. HOW DARE YOU INSULT MY CHILD YOU WHERRY-BRAINED INSECT!?!? If it hadn’t been for the close proximity of the eggs and all the other young humans and her rider of course, she probably would have jumped up and swatted Koroniket with one of her massive claws. But since she didn’t want any harm to come to her children she remained laying where she was. I suggest either you apologize quickly or leave the sands. D’tri’s once happy and playful expression had been replaced with one that was stone cold and remorseless.
- - - - - - - - - - - - woo woo, here I come, woo woo, back to you there ain’t no home like the one you got ‘cause that home belongs to you table © derek ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mae So someone has decided to be brave and come for a visit hm? How nice, the Ruby Red Grapefruit Egg gently searched Mae’s mind, almost as if the inhabitant of the red egg was looking for something important. Well, not exactly what it had in mind, but Mae did have potential, she just needed to relax and stop being so terrified of another’s judgment. With that final little tidbit the red egg pulled itself gently from the girl’s mind. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kyprioth Someone was touching its shell?! The Blackberry Cheese Pie Egg did its best impression of a dud egg, and it seemed to be working. But the humans didn’t take their hands away, why? A soft, almost frightened feeling entered Kyprioth’s mind, almost as if whatever was in the egg was afraid of the boy’s opinion of it. He seemed nice, if a bit clumsy, and adventure-seeking isn’t so bad...is it? That wasn’t something this little violet colored egg was ready to find out just yet, and with a soft goodbye the Blackberry Cheese Pie Egg withdrew itself from the candidates mind. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Koroniket The Blackberry Cheese Pie Egg once again took it’s time greeting the candidate that touched its violet shell. It didn’t take long for the quiet egg to decide that it didn’t much like this candidate, and quickly tried to push Koroniket away. He wasn’t very nice, and someone that thought they were perfect certainly wasn’t someone worth the little eggs time! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jessee So you think you are worthy to touch the shell of the Pan-Roasted Chicken Cutlets Egg huh? Well we will just have to see about that now won’t we? The bronze colored egg quickly invaded Jessee’s mind. It was proud of the boy for being as brave as touch its shell. After a quick glance at the boy’s mind the egg decided that he just wasn't the one for it. Maybe once he got things straightened out he could come back and they could try this again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Firogel Oh someone has finally come to visit the Tater Tot Casserole Egg?! How wonderful! The soft off-white and brown egg gently, yet playfully, entered Firogel’s mind, curious about what it might find hidden there. Well at least the boy was loyal and passionate, but the little egg wasn’t so sure it liked how rude this boy could be. So after a playful nudge the little white and brown egg drew itself out of his mind to await its next playmate.

Ko's eyes widened at the mother's fury. Oh dear. She really was quite upset, wasn't she? About to make a soothing comment ("I know it must be hard, thinking about losing your babies, but just think of it differently! They'll still be around, they'll just be happier!") when she screamed at him. Oh my. He flinched; it was impossible not to, really. Even telling himself that it was just her being female - everyone knew they were overemotional and prone to fits like this - it was all he could do not to take a few quick steps back. He tried to smile at her, figuring a smile would be the best way to calm her back down, but the expression trembled on his lips.
The rider's words weren't entirely necessary; Koroniket had already planned to apologize. That was what one did to testy females, after all. Once she was calmed down, he would broach the subject again, or perhaps encourage her rider to do so. Really wasn't wise to have a rotting egg here, after all. "My apologies, beautiful lady. I was concerned only with the welfare of your children. A bursting egg could spatter the others with harmful goo, after all, and risk the lives of the babies within. I assumed you would be thinking of them, but I see your concern is for this one." Okay, perhaps not the best apology, but he considered it adequate and that meant it was the best he would do.
He opened his mouth to speak again only to stop, his startled gaze going to the blackberry cheese pie egg as it mentally shoved him away. He took his hand off of it, turning it over to stare at his palm, as if that could explain the strange feeling. Eyes full of wonder, he looked up at the topaz. "It seems I was misled and this egg is indeed full of a precious life. My apologies yet again for suggesting otherwise." He stared at the egg, and against his will a small smile began to form. This was not the cocky grin he had thus far displayed, but was a genuine, rather fond smile. The egg was a life, it seemed, but a wordless one. Those were always the best kinds, in his mind, and the kinds which most quickly wormed their way into his heart.
He looked at the nearest egg, the fig and blue cheese tart egg and took a small step towards it, then another. When he was near it, he paused, hand held over it but not in contact. Perhaps best to consult the mother - you wouldn't try to pet a kitten without checking the mother feline's reactions first, after all. "May I, beautiful queen?" He gave her a smile, but this again was not the self-assured smile of earlier. This was fond and hopeful, even a little excited at the thought of interacting with another little dragon egg.

Mae smiled, breath catching in her chest. The feelings were not bad more... encouraging... With hesitation, the girl withdrew from the large egg. "Thank you Chahaturth. Your eggs are indeed best."
---
Her gaze turned to the Green Bean Casserole Egg . The strong devious emotions made her chuckle. What an interesting little idea!
Her eyes looked at the Topaz queen, bowing again with respect. She touched this warm and smooth egg. The egg did not need to be sorry. Mae was delighted by the personality she could sense...
A little playfulness and fun goes a long way. She thought, smiling again.

“"Oi! Oi! Cop yor bloody 'and off of me I didn't say yer could touch me! Blimey! And put the mockers on goin' on about the egg like that, right, it's perfectly right! Oi!” He hastily tugs his hand away from the others stumbling away a bit in his haste to get as far away from the other man as possible. Eyes narrow as the idiot continues on his little tirade and shakes his head at the girl that pops up.
“Don't go killin' 'im or nuffink M'lady. If the muvver wants 'im ate she'll do it 'erself. There's surely a dragonet 'ere waitin' for yer.” He was careful this time as he steps away from both Ko’ and the girl, though his ever gallant persona was quite shining as he laid it on thick with the woman.
He ignores Firo except to cast a rather odd look towards the young man before the topaz decides to step in and thankfully(perhaps not thankfully?) yell towards the idiot that had spoken out. He knows when it’s time to withdraw and with a sad little look at the egg he’s touching, he could feel something in his mind that he writes off as him merely being wistful though he does give it one last loving pat before moving onto the next egg.
He manages to grin at J’dol, ignoring his perverted habits for the glory of the eggs. Bending down beside the Fig and blue cheese tart egg he gently touches it’s side curious at the feeling that roams through him. Now that wasn’t right! Sure it wasn’t as ‘sparkly’ as the other eggs, not like that bronze one that seems to be just demanding attention but this one at its own beauty! He found it quite becoming.
“"hey gorgeous. Don't go tryin' ter hide, I bet yer don't realize it but yer, yor the bloomin' exact color of a funderstorm. It's wondrous! Struth! Yer even 'ave a look like yer 'ave lightnin' on yer. Can't yer just come out a wee bit, guv? Yer deserve ter be dotted on yer know.” He stroked the shell with delicate fingers enjoying the feeling of trying to edge it out of its ‘shell’ as it were. His family had been tuber farmers yes, but they had herdbeasts and he knew how to coax the frightened out to shine where they belonged.
“Pretty pretty..” He crooned rather taken with the egg.

Koroniket Oh no someone’s touching me! Whatever may lay hidden within the Fig and Blue Cheese Tart Egg shrinks back away from Koroniket’s hand. There was just the barest of contact between the boy’s mind and the essence inside of the egg. This wasn’t the right one, no, it would just have to continue to hide in the background until its human finally did come along. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mae Well lookie here, someone that isn’t mad at it for being mischievous. The Green Bean Casserole Egg lightly jumped into Mae’s mind, looking for whatever it is that eggs look for in candidates, and after a little poking around withdrew. No this one needs more faith in herself, until that happens though, the Green Bean Casserole Egg would just have to keep looking. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kyprioth Oh no, not another one! Maybe this one will be the one the Fig and Blue Cheese Tart Egg has been looking for. But once again it withdrew from the candidate’s touch afraid of what it might find if it entered the boy’s mind. But then the boy spoke to it, and the Fig and Blue Cheese Tart Egg slowly, very slowly, touched the edges of the boy’s mind. But once again it quickly withdrew back to the safety of itself, this one was just too adventurous and too sarcastic for the Fig and Blue Cheese Tart Egg.

Koroniket thought he felt the dragon's presence but...no, it was so quick, so light, he must have imagined it. Seemed these babies were a bit slow to react, like they were all taking little naps before the candidates touched them. He smiled a little at the image. "It's okay, sweetness - you can wake up. I'm not gonna hurt you." He wasn't sure if that was a strange thing to say - the dragon was in a shell, after all, so of course he wouldn't hurt it - but it seemed appropriate. It was what he would say to a frightened kitten, and he had started to think of these baby dragons as kittens.
As moments ticked by, however, he realized that perhaps he hadn't imagined it. This was longer than the other egg had taken. And now he must look a tad silly, standing there on an egg which had already gotten bored with him. He gave it a tiny pat. "That's okay, honey. You just keep quiet there. Have some rest - you'll need all the energy you can get to bust out of that magnificent shell of yours." Just because he wasn't crooning his adoration of the egg like Kyprioth didn't mean he wasn't Impressed. Was almost sad these eggs would all be destroyed, really. Each one was like a little piece of art.
He looked away from the one which was uninterested in him, pulling himself out of his reverie. Which one next? Ah yes, the plum cobbler egg. Made sense, didn't it? It was right by the egg he'd touched first, after all. He'd moved away from it rather than sticking around, as if moving from the spot where he'd angered the mother would calm her down. Since she seemed settled now, he felt okay returning to the interesting looking egg. He rested a hand on it, finding the gradual calming effect rather pleasant. He could stand here all day, really.

Kyprioth shoots a warning look towards the male candidate that had grabbed him before. He mutters something rather rude under his breath, something about hoping the mother eats him before he moves onto the next egg. The poor thing he was touching was sad, seems all the eggs he was touching didn’t want to be touched. He was starting to grow increasingly worried and just by staring at his face everyone would know it. He was chewing on his bottom lip worrying at it as he stepped carefully over to the Tater Tot Egg but it was clear by the way he moved that he was close to just leaving. Clearly none of the eggs were for him.
With a sigh he bent down to pat the egg, just a sort of quick touch. Might as well, the mother might eat HIM if he doesn’t actually touch what he’s standing next to. He stops for a moment though at the odd feeling going through him and brushes it off as yet again a mere whim of fancy. He’s going insane, that’s nothing out of the ordinary he figured he’d be losing it sooner or later. Werys filled with gay perverted men did that to you. “"Bet yer'll 'otch into a nice queen yor mumma will be proud of.” The poor lad sounds withdrawn though, sad. He had expected the eggs to..well he didn’t know what he had expected but it wasn’t the presence of not being –wanted-. That was exactly the opposite. He casts a sad little look to J’dol hoping the man wouldn’t be upset with him, after all he had been the one to search him…
Fingers traced a brown ring for a long moment before he stands, resting his hand on the egg as he peers at the exit. Touching three was enough, surely. He wasn’t sure he could handle the feeling of being pressed away or not wanted. Kyprioth was an emotional creature, he needed to be around something that wanted his presence.

Well, he was outright ignored. That... well that sucked actually. not that he was trying to get attention or anything, it was his duty to tell people when they were being stupid, but he had expected an outburst from someone, at the very least. Ah well, there were more important things to do, like focus on the egg. His eyes closed as he rested his palm on the egg, waiting. It wasn't like this was the first egg he had ever touched, so he knew what would happen, more or less. He smiled to himself at the little nudge he felt from the egg, though that was about all he felt aside from an expected curiosity. He rose, brushed off his clothes, and looked about the other eggs. He supposed it wouldn't be a bad thing, but he needed something more.. pwoerful, exciting. Yes, he really should just go to the egg that was his. He could see it from here.
Passing by the other eggs, he headed towards the edge, eying the Pan-Roasted Chicken Cutlets Egg confidently. Surely an egg of such size and splendor was meant for him. Yes, this egg with the bronze shell, this would be his egg, his bronze, it had to be. Settling down next to it, he rested his palm, closed his eyes and actually sought to think something to this one. We would be strong together, egg.. Was that.. pride he felt? Yes, pride was perfect.
J'dol was glad Chahaturth seemed to be paying Kayath no mind (a thought that had his topaz snorting in annoyance). It wouldnt do for a fight to break out, not here, not now. J'dol grinned at D'tri as the man finally noticed him. "I promise it feels more tense than it really is." Well, that was a lie. The candidates at Kayath's touching had been a little more... friendly to eachother, he supposed. Sure, it hadn't been the smoothest touching, but it hadn't been overly stressful. He tensed as Chahaturth's voice rang out and hoped D'tri would be able to calm her. I doubt it. Kayath whispered in the back of his mind, She's always been a brainless wherry. Its only expected that she'd take such offense over a dud. It didn't matter to Kayath that she would have been exactly the same, but the thought did cause J'dol to chuckle.
Well, there was no use staying so close to D'tri and Chahaturth, they were too busy to be of much entertainment, so instead he wandered off towards the candidates, mainly to put some distance between himself and the topaz's claws in case she truly did lose her temper. He grinned to himself as he listened to Kyprioth sweet talk the ladies, and couldn't stop himself from chuckling as he heard the man talking to the egg. The amusement wasn't to last though. He could see an all too familiar look on the man's face as Kyprioth glanced over at him and with a light smile and a sigh, he strolled over and knelt beside the farmer. He could assume the man was having a tough time with the eggs; he knew the feeling himself all too well.
"Now now, Kyp," He mumbled, "If I see you acting all sad because of a couple stubborn eggs, I might just have to run my fingers through your hair again." He was trying to goad the man into getting distracted, though from the way his hands remained on his knees it was clear J'dol wasn't going to do anything, not out here. "I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're not getting good responses from the eggs huh? You know... I went to every touching at my home Weyr for about six Turns before I came here to stand. And every one had their fair share of grumpy eggs and scared eggs and lonely ones, and its disheartening, but it's so hard to understand what it's really feeling. I've seen friends run crying from an egg, only to Impress the loving little guy inside a scant few weeks later." He paused and smiled as he spoke to Kayath, knowing the topaz would reach out to Kyprioth. She really was fond of him.I told you her eggs wouldn't be as good as mine. Probably all as gumpy and dull as she is. They need a charmer like you to make them worthwhile. She gave a lazy yawn from where she lounged, her oiled hide glistening in the sunlight.

Don't worry, J'dol and D'tri are both down there with them Mine. They understand.
I don't care if they understand, they're my candidates sharditall and I should be there with them right now!
Ara pushed a wayward lock of hair from her eyes, her feet racing as she flung herself onto the Green's neck, Avirith not waiting more than a moment to gain altitude and fly into the hatching cavern. Trumpeting a greeting to the two Queens of Trelis, the dragoness lighted down on the edge of the sands, surveying her little charges with careful interest. Watch them Mine, they do not yet know the etiquette it seems. They have already angered Chahaturth. Much should be taught and soon.
The dragoness tilted her head as she observed one or two of the candidates that had been there for the last hatching, nodding to one that paused to wave hello. Go to him now Mine. I'm sure he is happy to see you here. Alyara didn't go directly to J'dol though as she may have wanted, after all she had work to do and she had to be an adult here. Sighing, the rider walked between some of the eggs on the outer parts of the clutch, helping a few candidates who were more shy to pick an egg and place a gentle hand to the hardening shells.
"Who here has at least touched two? Everyone should get around to them all, we don't want anyone being left out dragon or human alike."
Pulling on her braided hair, Ara casually headed to where the two other riders were, giving a coy little smile to her weyrmate as she bumped his hip with her own. "Don't tell me your terrorizing my candidates again J'dol. That's hardly good manners love." She chuckled slightly under her breath, putting a hand to her waist where the tunic gathered. "It looks like we have a fair enough turn out....not too many more candidates than eggs...but still, it is enough for them to choose from I'm sure."
