Name: E'lex
Pronunciation: Eh-LEX
Age: 22 turns
Season Born In: Winter; 181st Turn of Interval
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Asexual, Aromantic
Appearance: E'lex is taller than average, a little over six feet, and he is quite thin as well. Though he looks almost unhealthy, as though he doesn't get enough to eat or is perpetually sick, he is actually in perfect health, though he's not above dressing and acting the part of the frail and sickly if he thinks he will benefit from it. Of course, the fact that his natural skin tone is a very pale shade of cream and, due to his propensity for indoor activities and nighttime dealings, stays that way, only adds to his unhealthy appearance. His left shoulder and back show the deep clawmarks of a dragon hatchling; old now and long-since healed, they still give him some trouble from time to time, though they are rarely seen by others, usually hidden under his clothing.
Despite that, however, he's not unpleasant to look at, (according to most people) and could even be called handsome, once you get past his pallid complexion. His eyes are particularly striking--E'lex has central heterochromia, which means both of his irises have two distinctly different colors in them: a green outer rim, with an orange-brown ring circling his pupil. His black hair is cut short, perhaps an inch or two at the longest parts, and very straight and neat.
Personality: To a casual observer, E'lex is a charming and carefree individual, a man with lots of friends and lots of charisma. It's only when one gets to know him that the full depths of his personality are revealed. E'lex certainly acts friendly, and is perceptive enough to be able to read people quite well and put them at ease, but he tends to keep his own thoughts to himself and is reluctant to let others get close. He is also a shameless liar, though a good one. Completely insincere, he has a great fondness for manipulation
Charming, charismatic, insincere, acts friendly but keeps his thoughts to himself, has no problem with lying, not particularly ambitious for rank, likes the finer things in life, likes to gamble, but often loses money doing so, secretive, cunning, intelligent, reads people well, always listening in when he gets a chance, perfectly willing to sell out other people for the right price; specializes in finding out everybody's secrets and selling them for a personal profit, good at setting up alliances and information networks, but not particulary good at making long-term friends; people tend to see through his act after a while. Rarely grows close to people, but even he does, it doesn't stop him from manipulating them as well, justifies a lot of his actions, particularly 'for their own good.' Can seem quite cruel and unusually mean, definitely ruthless.
Family: Evanellan-Father, Minor Holder, 44
Exaltia-Mother, Minor Holder, 43
E'van-Twin Brother, rider of garnet Crucieth (both deceased)
Alnatia-Sister, Minor Holder, 19
Tiallen-Brother, Minor Holder, 3
Location: Tillek Hold, then High Reaches Weyr, then the Rebellion
Rank: Weyrling
Wing/Pack: Darkbloods
History: His parents may have been simple farmers with a small plot of land, but they dreamed of something more: riches, wealth, the start of a dynasty to rival that of any of the Lord Holders. From their small beginnings, Evanellan and Exaltia began to extend their influence and build their reputation before any of their children were born. Evallex was their secondborn son, though just barely, coming out right behind his twin brother Ellevan. He and his twin were both considered heirs to their father, but there was no real rivalry between them.
Ellevan was always the slow-witted, naive sort anyway, while Evallex was the brains of their little partnership; he was the natural heir, so it seemed. Especially since Evallex learned at a young age to follow after his parents, taking advantage of any vice or weakness in others to help bring wealth and status to his family. Unlike the gentler Ellevan, he learned subtlety and politics, along with a degree of ruthlessness, from a young age. Ellevan was mostly exempt from that sort of behavior with Evallex, however--the two of them were always close, and they got along well with their younger sister, who was raised to be a lady and marry into a well-off family.
His parents' plans were ruined one fine, sunny day in spring. The twins were twenty turns old, and there was already some talk about finding suitable wives for the two of them. A pair of searchriders arrived at their Hold, looking for candidates for High Reaches. The dragons seemed particularly interested in the two of them, and Ellevan eagerly agreed to become a candidate. Their parents were less than pleased, especially when Evallex agreed as well, mostly to watch over his brother. However, there wasn't a lot they could do to prevent it, so the two men left for the Weyr soon after. This left the family holdings in the hands of their sister, though their parents decided to have another baby anyway. They needed a proper male heir, after all; they couldn't leave the Hold in the hands of a woman. It will probably all go to Tiallen--at least if Alnatia doesn't claim it all for herself first.
The clutch hatched, and dragons Impressed, though not to either of the twins. The hatching was starting to draw to a close, though there was a bronze hatchling still wandering the sands, unable to decide. One of the last eggs to hatch, though, revealed a garnet dragon, which attacked and severely mauled one candidate before turning to the brothers. In an attempt to protect his brother, Evallex stepped in the garnet's path, and he received a slashed open shoulder for his trouble before the garnet bit into Ellevan's leg and Impressed.
Evallex, unsurprisingly, was angry at the hatchling's actions, but there seemed to be little he could do about it now that the garnet Crucieth had bonded to his brother. The healers scarcely had time to reach him to see to his shoulder when Evallex was distracted by the other dragon on the sands--the bronze hatchling was apparently attracted by the commotion the garnet had caused, and Yselth promised to do his best to protect E'lex from now on.
Yselth and Crucieth never got along well in weyrling training, and for that matter, neither did E'lex and Crucieth. He could see all too well how the garnet was manipulating and shaping E'van to his own satisfaction, and E'lex hated it. E'van was his brother, and manipulating him was E'lex's job, shardit! E'lex was far from the only person upset at the garnet's Impression, however. There were a lot of riders at High Reaches who looked down on the new colors, and E'van and Crucieth received a particularly large share of bad treatment, something that E'lex and Yselth were mercifully spared from. In fact, if anything, they were treated better than any of the other weyrlings; E'lex was a bronzerider after all, and he had status. However, Crucieth eventually convinced E'van to join the Rebellion, and once again, E'lex was reluctantly dragged along to keep an eye on his brother, even if it meant leaving his budding network of information-gathering behind.
They settled in well at the Rebellion, with E'van making friends, E'lex building a network of useful acquaintances, and Crucieth doing who knew what while Yselth tried to keep him out of trouble. About six months after they joined the Rebellion, E'van and Crucieth participated in a raid at a Hold near Southern Weyr. It was only them and a few other dragons, but the holders managed to get word out quicker than expected, and they were caught by riders from the Weyr. Crucieth was swept up in a fight with a Weyr-aligned brown while E'van was down on the ground. Both dragons went between, and neither of them returned.
A catatonic Ellevan was taken back to Rindell, where E'lex learned what had happened to his brother during the raid. Unsurprisingly, he chose to place the majority of the blame on Crucieth, though the event gave him a healthy does of paranoia and hatred for the Weyrs as well. Suddenly, he was firmly aligned with the Rebellion's agenda, where before he had been apathetic at best. As for Ellevan, the dragonless man wasted away over a matter of days and eventually died. E'lex has spent the past six months grieving, or working to avoid grieving, and has only recently turned his attention back to his old tricks and alliances.
Dragon
Name: Yselth
Pronunciation: Yee-sell-th
Age: 17 months
Type: Dragon
Rank: Bronze
Size: 41 feet long
Color Codes: B6B458
Appearance: Big and particularly burly for a bronze, Yselth is definitely on the large end of the scale at forty-one feet long from head to tail. He's a physical powerhouse as well, with muscles on top of muscles it looks like. He is a very strong dragon, but a very slow one as well. His wings look almost too small for his body, though they are in fact average-sized, and he is neither fast nor agile in the air any more than he is on the ground. He doesn't really have as much endurance as one would expect, either, though he can still easily outlast any green or blue. His only real asset during Threadfall lies in his large and well-sustained flames, though he's a great heavy-lifter on the ground. His hide is a rather uniform and plain pale bronze in color, with the metallic highlights characteristic of his rank.
Personality: Royal attitude, stands up for all things good, justifies everything he does, has to be the hero, show off, attention seeker, huge flirt
Mind-Voice (If applicable):
I'm not sure this seems like the right thing to do, Mine...
Even though it's all in the head, Yselth's voice sounds very much like what you'd expect a forty-foot-long dragon to sound like if they spoke out loud. His voice is extremely deep and masculine, with a low rumbling sound in the background. It also tends to be very loud unless he takes special care to speak softly.
