She won't be happy if you get yourself drunk you know. Ever the voice of reason, kayath felt it was her duty to try to keep her rider under control. Control, however, was boring, and J'dol was simply tired of playing the part of Weyrlord. Since Iirla's passing, it had gotten harder and harder to find free time to himself, and suddenly people were expecting more of him. Frankly, it just wasn't fair. Screw it Kay, tonight is a night for me and me alone! It had been weeks since J'dol had found time to sit back and have a good drink, and today he was changing that.
He dropped the empty wineskin into a passing drudge's hands before popping open a new skin and continuing on his way, singing to himself as he went. it wasn't long before he waltzed into the dining cavern, scooped up a couple munchies to go along with his drinks, and found a a table in the corner to relax at. Filling up a glass instead of simply drinking out of the skin, he pulled out a deck of cards and placed them on the table, inviting anyone who was interested into coming to play. After all, there were eggs on the sands now, bets to be made, and fun to be had. Ah, he was living the good life.

A flash of fur scurried across the dining room. Suddenly a piece of pastery vanished. Another flash was hidden under the Topaz rider's table. Mask ate the treat in a series of greedy, noisey bites.
He sniffed, licking his little fingers deviously. There was a man right there... Oooooh trouble was to be had! The ferret chittered in glee, skirting up J'dol's leg and landing on the table. What was that?
He reached to snatch a card, only to launch himself onto the man's chest as Nion entered. -- Nion scratched at his head, looking like he could use a drink. He'd lost that devilish rodent again.... Dumb little bugga! Next time the man would give Mask something to keep him near, a leash or a cage...
He growled, glaring around, but failing to notice J'dol's table where his trouble would be found...

Now, J'dol was a man who was used to random critters attaching themselves to him without warning; it was a side effect of having an energetic and cuddly blue firelizard. Even so, the sudden weight of a critter on his leg made him jump in surprise before the pet in question hopped up on the table and attempted to nibble on one of his cards.
"Whoa there little fella, those aren't for you." J'dol reached out to snatch the cards away before the fluffball managed to do any damage, but before he could even touch the cards the critter had launched itself at him. He let out a bark of laughter, no doubt loud enough to draw attention, and reached up to pet his new friend.

Nion turned his head in surprise, clearly curious at the sudden noise from the other man. "Hullo!" He cried, eyes narrowing at the familiar furry body. "What do you have there? A ferret perhaps?" A ferret indeed!
Mask chittered, crawling to sit on J'dol's head, as if to say - 'haha you can't get me!!'
The man kept a guard on his little thief and sat himself in a chair by J'dol. Nion's eyebrows raised as he gave the Topaz Rider a look-over. Not too bad. Actually, the man didn't look to bad.... at all.
Mask sniffed the air, quite happy as J'dol's hat. Chirepa? Mask seemed to ask 'why are you looking like that?'
"Haven't seen you around before, which is a pity. You can call me Nion." And yes. Nion winked.

Ah, the buzz of alcohol was wonderful. J'dol gave a content sigh as he scratched at Mask's head. Even without human company, this wasn't too bad. Soon enough, it seemed his laughter had drawn someone over, someone rather interesting looking it seemed.
"By any chance are you the man I should thank for my fuzzy new accessory?" J'dol asked, glancing up as the critter moved to rest on his head. Well, he had had worse things latch themselves onto his head before, so it was relatively easy to ignore. He whistled for a drudge, and when one passed by he scooped up a second glass and poured some wine for the newcomer as well, offering it up with a smile as he too looked him over.
"Haven't seen me around?" The weyrlord asked, genuinely surprised. "I suppose I should get out and about more often then, cutie. My reputation must be failing me. J'dol, at your service." He smiled, taking a sip of his wine before glancing about for knots that would give him an idea of why he wasn't known. Ah.. handler knots? Perhaps that was it, maybe this fellow only got out at night, when J'dol would normally be... busy with his entertainment. He motioned to the deck of cards. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Nion. Care to join me for a bit of a game?"

Where you? Blood Princess need. Nion sighed very softly, almost not at all. That... that crazy wher of his...
"That little accessory is just one of many troubles, but yes. I am to thank or blame." He laughed in a non-so-jolly way, glancing behind him. Onsk would be here any moment, his troublesome wher....
Onsk smell. Onsk find. Those words were a taunt, and after a moment, the bloody purple wher appeared. Her head swung back and forth as she surveyed the room, nostrils flaring in scent.
"And that's the biggest problem...." Onsk snorted. I not problem. Onsk's Nion problem. Never behave. Never be good. Onsk should bite him. The amethyst's words were fir all to hear, and she cane and laid down quite near.
"Haha... The ferret is Mask, and that... beast-wher is Onsk. She's nice but... aggressive I guess." Nion need punish. Nion never talk nice.
"But I'll play. Until Onsk eats me...."
