Assaila held the hand of her eight-turn old daughter as they walked through the 'bowl in the early morning cold. Annaliese was always an early riser.... and Assaila really wasn't. It wasthe young girl who was more or less dragging her mother along with her as they headed towards the Weyrlake. "Annaliese... it's too early and too cold for a swim... We are not swimming. No."
Annaliese looked at her mother like she was crazy. "Of course we aren't going to go swimming! I'm not crazy!" Annaliese laughed at her mother who just yawned. "Good. Not that I was worried."
Anori fluttered overhead for a moment, circling them before landing on Annaliese's shoulder and crooning softly, rubbing his little brown head against her cheek. Assaila smiled. Anori knew what was important to her. And he was just as interested in protecting it - or her - as Assaila was. And that was something that Assaila valued a lot in her little companion.
She wondered if Syphraelth would be up yet. Annaliese did love to spend time with the big brown. She found him fascinating and rather incredible. And nice. She also somewhat idolized J'degar, which was something Assaila did not fully understand... bu the man was quite good to her. A lot kinder to the little girl than he was to her. Which, Assaila had to admit, did not bother her in the slightest. She was glad that he was this kind of man. She hated to admit it, though, but Annaliese loved J'degar almost as much as she loved her mother already.... and a big part of that was... to her he was like a father figure she had been lacking for so very long.
Though she wished that she wouldn't be influenced by some of the things Gar said and believed.... but whatever. And speaking of J'degar... it was probably best that they did not antagonize each other this early in teh morning.... she tended towards being quite... irritable and cranky and things could be nasty in such cases, she more than adamantly believed.

Syphraelth let out a lazy yawn as he stretched out on the soft Weyrbowl grass, watching his rider go through the usual morning routine. Normally, the brownrider would have done much of his morning exercises in the privacy of his own room, though today he had decided to get some fresh air and see the great outdoors. It was also an excuse to force Syphraelth into doing a little bit of exercising as well; the brown needed to lightly work his Threadscored wing if they wanted it to heal properly.
Come on you lazy lout, go do another lap around the 'Bowl J'degar commanded as he dropped for another set of crunches, the lightest hint of sweat appearing despite the chilly morning air. The brown yawned in response. It hurt to fly down here and I would much rather be sleeping. It can wait. He dropped his head lazily onto his forarms and watched his rider train. Even though he wasn't the most personable of riders, he at least was dedicated to his line of work.
It was nice, to be out and about for once. They had been weyrbound for the last week or so while the brown's wing was too injured to move. It had been a little nice at least; Assaila hadn't come by to bug him at all. He had been able to relax in peace and quiet. it wasn't that he disliked the woman. She was annoying, and stupid at times, and he would never understand her obsession with harassing him... but somehow he had come to tolerate her. Perhaps it was because she never seemed to leave him alone since their first meeting, those few Turns ago. Though he would never admit it aloud, she had even, perhaps, become somewhat of a friend to him. Syphraelth liked her anyways.
he was just beginning a set of pushups when Syphraelth lifted his head to look across the bowl, and J'degar was quick to spot the human shapes that had drawn his brown's attention, distinctly looking like Assaila and Annaliese. Syphraelth crooned, loud enough that the woman and her daighter would hear it, but soft enough that they could pretend to not notice if they felt like avoiding his grumpy rider.
"Ugh. Do you HAVE to call them over this early in the morning?"

"Look mom! It's Syph and J'degar! Coem on! Let's go see them!" Assaila gave a grown. "It's too early to annoy him..." Annaliese giggled. "Then don't."
Wel lthat was simple enough. Perhaps too simple. It was a very simple solution. She sighed as Annaliese pulled them over, waving at the rider and dragon as she dragged her mother towards them. Assaila sighed and stumbled after the excited girl while Anori seemed to decide it was time to greet his larger counterpart and flapped over to Syphraelth and landed in front of him, cheeping happily at the large brown.
Assaila walked over to Syphraelth, looked at J'degar and gave a simple nod and, "Good morning. Your training seems to be treating you well." Then she turned to Syphraelth again. "How is your wing doing, Syphraelth...?" she asked him, reaching out a hand to scratch his eyeridges. "Mind if I sit with you for awhile...?"
Annaliese meanwhile ran up to J'degar and grinned at him. "Brownrider J'degar! I missed you and Syphraelth! Is he doing better now?" She asked the ridre instead of the dragon.. unlike her mother who just asked the brown himself. She gave a big grin as she looked at the training Brownrider.
She was tempted to call him dad, but she didn't think he would like that. So... she never did, no matter how much she wanted to. She gave him her big cherub smile and held her hands behind her back like she always did, her blonde hair falling down around her shoulders, though the top was tied back for the most part. Her mother always took the time to do her hair in the mornings.
Assaila took a seat beside Syphraelth and gave a sigh, closing her eyes and just trying to relax a little bit.

J’degar could feel Syphraelth’s amused rumbling as Assaila and her daughter made their way towards them. J’degar groaned and continued his work out, hoping that maybe, some higher being would look down on him kindly and have Assaila just walk on by. Not that that would ever happen, she was too obsessed with annoying him for that. Syphraelth rumbled again, amused by the man’s determined dislike of the woman. The brown knew J’degar occasionally didn’t mind her. He let out a draconic chirp of his own to Anori, pleased as always by the little cousin’s company. He may not be able to hold a conversation like another dragon, but company was company. J’degar, of course, never wanted company, and so he just grunted in response, barely looking up at her as she drew nearer.
Greetings Assaila and TinyAnna. He spoke quietly to the girl and her mother, always worrying about overwhelming the young girl. He stretched out his wing a little bit, showing off the bandages on his forearm. GarMine seems to think I should be flying on it. But it pains me so when he does that. Will it truly heal faster, I wonder? Tucking his wing back in, he seemed to sigh thoughtfully at the entire thing, as if the injury in his wing was one of the great mysteries of the world. I would be honoured with your company, He crooned, happily accepted the eyeridge scratch. He truly did not understand why such a good human was such an annoyance to his rider.
With the over excited arrival of that woman’s child, J’degar finally realized that his exercising was simply not going to go well at all. He flipped over to a sitting position to catch his breath as she began asking about this that and something else.
“Geez you’re so noisy in the morning runt, why are you even up so early?” He replied curtly, moving to tossle her hair as he spoke. It was a display of affection of sorts, even if it didn’. Children had always held a special place in his heart, and Annaliese was just too cute to not want to spoil, though he did hold back, simply because of who her mother was. “You ignore that good for nothing brown girl. He’s just being a big cry baby about a little scratch.” Syphraelth turned his head to his rider with an indignant snort and made no effort to keep his voice from reaching Assaila as well.. Scratch? It almost took my wing off! I’d like to see you fly after that. Okay, so it wasn’t that bad… but it wasn’t just a scratch either.
