Izanycorth gave a slight hiss. It was time. She knew it was. She looked back into the weyr where Hers yet slept. She wouldn't wake her... she would know soon enough... She needed her rest and she needed to stay with her mate. She was with young too. She should not be on the heat of the hatching sands. Not for as long as it would take the Gold to clutch. She was sure it would be bad for her rider...
So she took off alone in the quiet of the night to the sands, which were streaked with moonlight. The sands looked silver and almost haunted. Of course... Kayath was here with her brood. Izanycorth lowered herself to the sands and looked around, giving a slight hiss of pain. She looked at Kayath. It's time my eggs joined yours on the sands, it seems... With that she found her place and began preparing the place for her first egg, which was coming very soon. She turned and deposited the first of her eggs on to the sands... It was of good size and white... but it would not the largest of her clutch... A second and a third egg were soon prepared for and soon followed...
Iirla woke suddenly with a gasp, a hand going to her stomach immediatley. But it was not her pain she was feeling.. it was her dragoness'. She had htought it was her baby at first. "Vl'kan... Vl'kan." She said softly, a note of pain in her voice. She gently squeezed his shoulder. "She's clutching..."

It was Kayath’s growl that awoke J’dol, the man sitting up in confusion to see Izanycorth landing in the sands. He didn’t remember falling asleep out here.. but he had been so tired that he must have dozed off. He laid a hand on Kayath’s side, giving her a silent urge to stay quiet and calm, not that he ever truly controlled the topaz. You couldn’t wait until I’m done with the sands? She huffed, not at all happy to have to share the sands, but they both knew this day would come. Standing, she began carefully moving her eggs to the side, to make sure there was plenty of room between her clutch and Izanycorth. She may not have minded the gold, but it didn’t mean she trusted her right now.
“Is Iirla coming out for you Izanycorth?” J’dol called, remaining near Kayath. No doubt she would be feeling the horrible discomfort as clutching and he wanted to know if she was okay. My eggs are prettier aren’t they? Kayath asked her rider quietly, receiving a pat and a ‘yes the are’ in return.

Hana started to screech at Linda who was resting at the moment in the barracks. Though she quickly got up to see what was the matter with the gold while the others just stood there and watched. Hana though started to send images of a giant gold dragon flying to the hatching grounds. Linda just giggled a little bit and rubbed each and every one's eye ridges. "Okay Okay, But you lot stay here and watch over Felli and Klarce. I don't think the Queens want you near their eggs alright?" A soft chorus of crooning answered her back, as Linda quickly got dressed. It only took her a couple of minutes since she had everything ready beforehand.
Silently she quickly sped walked out of the Barracks and towards the Hatching grounds... Stories of queens and their protectiveness about the eggs resounded in her head. Which made Linda stop right at the entrance and carefully peak in and glance around. Yes there was Kayath with her eggs, and moving aside for Isanycorth for her to start laying her eggs... But the only sign of anything human was a guy? who was near the Topaz, probably her rider.... wait males could impress on clutching females? Quickly she shook her head and slowly moved more into view but stayed at the entrance... She was not about to go in without permission.
"... Excuse my trespassing grand queens... but my Gold Fire Lizard informed me of another clutch being laid... I wish to watch if that is alright? I am an apprentice Healer too so I can help if something not too terribly bad happens..." As she started to speak, Linda did give a deep bow as she tried to show respect to the two mothers. Her voice faded off as she warily watched the two dragons and the male. Yes she was actually rather nervous, and slightly scared... The females could take great offense of her being there and take off her head before she could go hide after all.

It had been the first night in Farnath knows how long that Vl'kan had actually been able to fall asleep and stay asleep and he was tired. At first the slight shifting of his weyrmate went unnoticed as he was far too deep in the realm of blissful rest and recovery. Though she continued to move in her venture to sit up it wasn't her voice that eventually woke him, but the sudden pressure on his arm, as her nails dug into his bare flesh. He suddenly jolted awake with a grumbled and a slur of incoherent mumblings.
He blinked and groggily glanced around the dark room. Now why exactly had he been woken up? Eventually his gaze made it to Iirla and he took notice of the arm cradling her stomach. It took him a moment but eventually his sleep fogged mind put two and two together. Of course it was the wrong two and two... "The baby!" Vl'kan, with furs tangled around his feet, tumbled out the bed and yelped as he came to land on his injured and bandaged leg. Thormyth gave a growl as pain His felt passed through their link. The baby, the baby was coming! Wait, she had said baby, right?
Fumbling on the floor to untangle himself, Vl'kan jumped up and balanced on his good leg while he scooted around the room till he reached her side of the bed. "The baby? Is the baby okay? Should I get a healer?" Thormyth snorted and his claws could be heard scraping the ground as he adjusted his position on his couch. You fool, not her! My Queen. Vl'kan could have kicked himself. Of course Izy clutching would have given Iirla false contractions. Still he sat on the edge of the bed and looked at her curiously. "Are you okay?"

Izanycorth hissed irritably. No... Don't want her to come down.... not with her unborn.... hatchling. She gave a hiss as hte next egg came. She hissed as another person came on the sands. Stay off the sands unless you are needed.
Izanycorth hissed again as a large egg made its way to hte sands. tHsi one truly hurt and she would have no doubt that hers could feel it as the pain came again. But she would have another come as she inspected this latest egg, which she looked at and took in. It had a mettallic sheen! and looked rather gold! She crooned happily at this. There were more yet to come... this was only teh fourth of the total. MineKing! A queen daughter rests on the sands! She wanted hi mto come to the sands to see this egg... but she could wait until they were all here and resting in the heats of the sand.
Iirla shook her head, trying to tell him it was not the baby... but she felt the pain... jsut as Izanycorth did and she bit her lipto bite back the gasps, squeezing her eyes shut, her hand on her stomach, still holding her own stomach. SHe was afraid that if this kept up for too much logner... it might cause her to start having real contractions... rather than false ones.
She looked at him, her eyes starting to water a bit, but she still didn't say a word.

Thormyth growled, still not to pleased at being woken at this hour, but dragged himself to his feet and slithered to the mouth of the cave. Stepping out onto the ledge he tilted his head to the side before lowering it to observe the scene playing out of the Sands below. These eggs... The garnet had mixed feelings about them to say the least. On the one hand they would be a testament to his prowess and strength. He was the Istan garnet, sired by a bronze father and hatched by an obsidian mother. On the other though, these little hatchlings would no doubt steal what was his rightful spotlight. The King growled low in his throat yet remained silent as his crimson streaked gaze swept the sands, the two dragon mothers, and the nosy newcomer. Slowly he drew his tongue over his fangs, just waiting for the little "snack" to step out of line.
Vl'kan pulled a face, his brow furrowing slightly as she continued to leave his questions unanswered. He wrung his hands together and then anxiously ran a hand through his hair. He didn't know what to do, or what she wanted him to do. Was there even anything he could do?
Sighing quietly he rubbed the remaining bit of sleep from his eyes before moving to scoot further back on the bed. Sitting carefully, so as to try and not hurt his leg anymore, Vl'kan wrapped his arms gently around her, if only to let her lean back against his chest. A small act, yes, but he hoped it would help bring a little comfort to her current situation. Quiet still, he rested his chin on top of her head. His eyes remaining focused on the door, silently plotting his mad dash in case he did need to go find and wake the healers at this time of night.

J'dol was worried about Iirla. He had been in a lot of pain during Kayath's clutching, he could only imagine the abuse her pregnant body was currently going through. He severely hoped that weyrmate of hers was there to take care of her, but wondered briefly if he should send one of his flits to check up on her.
"You're doing wonderfully, my queen." J'dol finally replied; though he didn't share a bond with Izanycorth, he did want her to feel some support through the process. No doubt her instincts would lead her right either way. He watched as the first of her eggs made its way to the sands, absentmindedly scratching at Kayath's eyeridge as she glared at the gold's eggs.
You are more than welcome to come feast your eyes on MY glorious eggs girl. THey are the most beautiful, glorious things to ever grace - a GOLD? Oh don't even kid yourself Izanycorth! It's just a trick of the light. She seethed, annoyed that the gold would try to one up her like that. "I do suggest you stay back a bit though!" J'dol called with a lazy wave. He would have given her more attention, but he felt the need to keep his attention focused on Izanycorth and her mate.

Izanycorth crooned at J'dol, pleased for his support.... but she quickly turned a bared hiss to Kayath. Watch your tongue, SUB-queen. She wasn't particularly happy as she felt more pain, another egg, smaller than the last, which was indeed large and an orange-ish gold. It had to be a queen. Izanycorth would be watching that one very carefully.... This next egg was black with a pale yellow sun-like marking on one side. It was large... almost as large as the queen egg. Izanycorth hissed in pain, but turned back to look at the egg adoringly. The following egg was the smallest yet with a flat gray color with a white mist like markings across its middle. Izanycorth was very careful of her eggs, being certain they were cared for. She would never do less. And how could she dare to not care for her largest lovely queen egg.... and its sibling. Izanycorth was considering trying to make Thormyth angry with Kayath as well. The egg looked like a gold's egg. that was certain.
Iirla was grateful for Vl'kan's arms around her, and the way he held her. She leaned back against his chest, feeling some comfort from this. She placed a hand on his around her and laced her fingers with his, though every time she felt Izanycorth's pain... and every time it spurred on another feeling - or maybe real false - contractions which hurt like no other. "Vl-V-Vl'kan..." she forced out, her eyes closing tightly as her hand squeezed his again tightly. It hurt... Faranth it hurt. And... Izanycorth was feeling it. "A-a... q-queen..." She blinked.... the pain ebbed for a moment... but it was back. She didn't yell or shout, but rather tried to stay quiet and controlled, despite the instinct to do otherwise...

Linda frowned a little bit as she glanced around the Hatching grounds... one queen didn't want her on the sands unless she was needed and the other one welcomed her to look at her glorious eggs... she had actually roped herself into a bad spot... Now if she didn't go in the Topaz would hate her, but if she did go in the Gold would hate her.... Wait the Gold said the sands right? And the stands weren't the sands and rather far from the Gold and her clutch, especially if she kept to the wall. The young girl waited for a chance to speak up when the gold wasn't laying an egg and too much in pain. "How about I just stick to the stands, against the back wall. That way I am very far away from you magnificent Gold, yet I can come see your gorgeous eggs brilliant topaz.... Of course you can tell me to leave and I will... But I do think that is a Queen egg though, congratulations."
Quickly she jumped up and grabbed the edge of the stands, crawling up into it trying to not touch the sands and keep near the wall. Slowly she walked up as she pressed her side against the wall... Even though it was rough going she wanted to show she meant no harm and hoped she could stay... Ready to leave though if either one of them wanted her gone or ready to stop if the told her to.
Linda couldn't help but give a gentle smile as she watched though, that rider of the Topaz didn't seem that bad since he apparently stayed here with his dragon and clutch. But maybe she could keep the Topaz busy with talking so she wouldn't bug the gold too much? That would keep the peace down and not cause any trouble she hoped.... "So... how are your eggs faring.... Kayath?" She racked her brain to try to figure out the Topaz's name, she hoped that was right she had heard that should be the name of the mother of the current clutch on the sands....

Mine, Izanycorth is clutching. She says there is a Queen among them already!
Ara woke, alone in the bed she and her weyrmate shared. It had felt a bit lonely, but she knew J'dol needed to be on the sands. Honestly she had thought about moving down with him to keep him company more, except she also knew she needed to give him room. Her trio of flits were curled around her body and head, and Aries was the first to wake as well. The Queen hummed, happy to acknowledge the clutching going on. "Avirith, call for Inali. Tell her to meet me in Iirla's chambers, tell her to grab a healer of she can."
The green looked at her rider oddly but did as she was told, watching as Alyara quickly threw back the covers and dressed. It didn't take her long to run over to the Weyrwoman's weyr. By the time she was there Inali was there too, and an old woman healer was behind her. "Dimglow child should have had someone call for me earlier. Don't she know she's too close to 'er time to even be 'ere?" The gray haired healer shook her head and waddled into the room after the two younger women, Ara instantly going to place a hand gently on Iirla's shoulder.
"Don't worry, we have a healer here." Her voice was gentle, and Inali kneeled down as well, giving a gentle smile. "Yes, don't worry Iirla. It'll be fine. Maybe this night we'll be lucky enough to have your and Izanycorth's children grace the sands. Not to mention a Queen, the Weyr should have a feast in its honor!" A delighted twinkle was in her eye, her black hair falling slightly in her face as she rubber her hand against the Goldrider's back.
On the sands, or rather in the cavern, Avirith settled down on a ledge and crooned. She could distract Kayath too, but first she needed to tell Here 'mate and Izanycorth. Mine is with Yours Izanycorth. She brought the old healer and Inali. Don't worry about her, and you are doing splendidly my Queen! As for you Kayath, your eggs are OBVIOUSLY special! They are the first to be layed by your color, and as thus they are precious things as well. Kayath'sOwn, Little One's coming by the way.
Of course by little one she meant Inoria. The four turn old yawned and scratched her head, her little nighty sweeping around her feet as she walked into the sands. She looked at the two mothers, oblivious to their protectiveness and went straight to J'dol giving him a hug. "Momma say Inoria help KayaBrat and IzyQueen! Inoria help you too." She hugged him again for good measure, and looked toward Izanycorth first. IzyQueen do good job! Little One know, momma says good too! LoreQueen would be proud! And KayaBrat....stop being brat. That what Momma say.

Vl'kan tried to stop it but he couldn't hold back the loud, sleepy yawn as she leaned back against him. Silently he wondered just how long it would take Izanycorth to finish with her eggs so Iirla wouldn't be under such discomfort. His eyes may have drifted shut once or twice though not for long as she continued to squeeze his hand at random intervals. He clenched his jaw and even bit his tongue once to keep from making a sound. After all, he was not going to let on that she could actually be hurting him. Ha!
"A queen? That's great!" Another queen would do great for the Weyrs moral and Vl'kan found himself wondering if the new dragonet would have any of the temperament of its parents. Before he could dwell on the thought too long though his weyr was being invaded by an army of women. One by one Ara, Inali, and then the little old healer woman filed into his room and began to crowd around Iirla. Feeling in the way, not to mention a little cramped, Vl'kan scooted off the bed and gave the women some space. It's not as though he knew what to do. After all he was still convinced it was simply false pains she was getting from Izy, nothing serious.

Kayath returned the gold's hiss, but she couldn't retort... not after being ordered by both Izanycorth and J'dol to behave. She wasn't happy though. It wasn't because Izanycorth was claiming to have a queen egg; even Kayath felt naturally happy about the birth of a new sister. She was angry at having to share HER sands with the gold, plain and simple. She felt like her spotlight was being stolen.
"Ah yeah cutie. Stands are fine!" J'dol called back, still not giving the girl much attention beyond a cursory glance. There were more important things to deal with at the moment, like keeping his topaz from trying to piss off Izanycorth. He glanced up as Spazz blinked in from wherever he had been, chittering excitedly before disappearing again, only to find a place in Iirla's weyr, a hum of excitement escaping as he watched the chaos in the room. Tipsy found his way there eventually too, to watch, to hum, and to wait.
I'm glad SOMEONE sees how special they are. kayath huffed at the green's words, but felt calmer. Of course her eggs were still the most special, golds laid eggs all the time but a topaz? That was new! She turned her gaze away from the other female's eggs to stare at the intruder girl. That's princess Kayath to you girl. But you're right, they are just darling aren't they? They are going to be such strong hatchlings, I am sure of it. Much better than hers! She wrapped herself tighter around her eggs.
J'dol jumped in shock as Inoria wrapped her arms around him. What was he supposed to do? Hug her back? Ignore her? Soemthing else? Shards he had no idea what to do with children! After a moment of mental flailing he leaned over and scooped her up in one arm. "Your mom sent you huh? Where's that crazy lady?" He asked, sending Kayath a mental warning to behave once again. kayaBrat? Oh I don't think so Runt. Kayath, or Princess. I'd even settle for Lady I suppose.

Iirla still had a rather strong hold on Vl'kan's arm and she gave a wordless protest as he moved away, even as Ara and Inali came in with a healer to help her. The pain was getting worse.... the firelizards were humming, that's when she realized... it wasn't just Izanycorth's pain... it was hers. The baby was coming. "Faranth... oh Faranth... She's coming..." she said, trying to lay back, her eyes closing tightly Faranth... It couldn't be. The baby was still early, wasn't she... She looked over towards Vl'kan. "Sh-she's... r-really coming... Vl-Vl'kan..." she gasped, trying to remember how it was she was supposed to be breathing again, her eyes closing and her hand squeezing whatever it was she happened to be holding at that time in ain. THe contractions were very close together now indeed. Oh Faranth... Faranth... Her baby was coming and Izanycorth was clutching... Faranth! She felt so scared at hte moment. what if hte baby was born sick... Oh Faranth...
Iirla looked at the healer, Inali, and Ara somewhat helplessly... Was it time to push yet...? Her water had not broken yet... not yet... but it was going to... in fact... Oh Faranth! She felt it. She started to breathe again, her eyes wide. She was in a lot of pain... oh Faranth... She looked at the Healer again, still breathing... Faranth....
Izanycorth hissed as she laid yet anotehr egg... and another... Each one getting their own place on the sands. in a ring that had them each rather evenly spaced.. she would move them later most likely... Another egg was laid... followed by two more... The queen was starting to wonder herself how much longer this could go on... already ten eggs rested on teh sands and waited to harden.
Thank you Avirith... And LittleOne, you may come look at my eggs if yo uwish. Please tell your mother thank you for looking after mine while I could not. J'dol... tell Kayath to keep her voice down. She had the choice of silence over being disturbed, I would like the same choice. And Kayath, do not patronize the LittleOne. SHe says as she says. And that is that. Besides, you are being a brat. Izanycorth hissed irritably and once more focused on teh eggs as she prepared for her eleventh...

Alot seemed to happen right before Linda's eyes, many more eggs joined the first from the gold... While a little kid ran up to hug the Topaz Rider who called her cutie? She brushed that aside and ignored it keeping her attention on the dragons... It seemed they knew the girl? They didn't seem to mind her being there, at least now she didn't have to worry about watching a young girl get torn apart in front of her. However Linda stayed where she was up at the very back of the stands and smiled towards Kayath.
"Oh I am terribly sorry Princess Kayath, and yes all will be strong I am sure of it... I just hope everyone will be healthy and find theirs though, no matter who is the mother. But of course your such a specimen yourself along with the Queen Gold over there that there won't be anything to worry about. All the eggs look so big and strong and healthy." Maybe she could get the Topaz's attention towards that kind of thinking, or so she hoped really.
Carefully she sat down upon the seats, part of her wished she could have brought Hana at least along... she loved eggs but neither of them wanted to face the wrath of the mothers. Linda's mind and gaze started to wander as she stared at the eggs. She didn't know or been around these huge eggs before, and even though they were slightly similar to Fire Lizards... She couldn't figure out really what would be in them, or to what type of people they might go with. Even if she didn't impress on either clutch, she couldn't help but smile, just being able to be here and watch such an occasion was enough to make her happy.

"Eh, boy needs ter git outta 'ere. Tis be woman's work!" The healer went about getting the two younger women to fetch rags and water, though mainly it was Ara fetching and Inali holding onto Iirla and coaching. "You're fine, don't worry about it. Vl'kan won't leave really, he'll be right here and so will I. Just stay calm....just breath." Her voice was steady, not exactly monotone but not exactly filled with emotion either.
She stayed out of the healer's way however, her eyes focused on Iirla's mid-section, counting the breaths, talking whenever they started to take longer. "Just keep calm...shards Alyara where is she?!?" The Greenrider came back into the room as if on cue, handing a bowl of water and some rags to the healer, wetting one and giving it to Inali to put on Iirla's head. "We're here hun, don't worry." She tried to give a confident smile, but to be honest she also just wanted to high-tail it out of there. I never thought it'd be like this.....though I should have known.
Back on the sands Inoria yawned despite Kayath's unhappy retort. Kayabrat be Kayabrat, Little One do as Little One wants. Little One think sleep now, IzyQueen do good. IzyQueen always do good. "Momma was called by AviDance's wrider. Momma say Awra need go to Iiwrla's weywr. Me sleepy now....ni-ni." With that the little girl yawned once more and snuggled in against J'dol's chest, perfectly content to fall asleep in his arms.
