With a tired sigh, J’dol leaned back, the mid-afternoon sun trickling into the weyr. He had been feeling weird lately, though what was so off he couldn’t quite say. He assumed it was just because Kayath had been running him ragged with all her whining and demanding. He lifted his head and glanced out over the hatching sands.
“She’s doing it again…” He mentioned quietly, glancing back at Ara before returning his gaze to the topaz dragon who was once again circling the sands, digging holes here and there and stomping them full again. It was strange, but as she’d been doing it for days, J’dol barely paid it any mind. Although… she seemed a little more desperate with the movements today…
With a worried stretch, J’dol moved towards the sands, figuring he should go calm down the egg-heavy female. At least, that had been the plan before a wave of pain shot through his stomach. Clutching his side, he dropped into the hot sands with a yell of shock at the same time as Kayath reared and bellowed for all the Weyr to hear. I need a wherry! FOR THE LOVE OF FARANTH SOMEONE BRING ME A WHERRY! Her eyes whirled in confusion at first as she went back to shoving sand aside, unsure as to whether she was hungry... or if it was something else. Another bout of pain shot through J’dol and he curled on the sands.
“Ara? ARA?! What’s wrong with her? Why does she hurt?” his voice held a strong note of panic; there was pain, and weird emotions and dammit he felt the sudden urge to eat ice cream and hug something! Kayath bugled again, though this time it almost seemed a call for attention as she waddled to stand over the small hole. Before long, and after a rather unladylike grunt, Kayath moved to reveal a large, but oddly thin, orange coloured egg. A few moments of shuffling and she began working on a second hole, her body responding to her natural instincts more than anything now.
The eggs had arrived.
