Ka'mond was not really paying attention to his surroundings now. He was distracted by the bustling people, noises the smells. This was the largest group of people he'd seen in... his life. Several times he'd nearly tripped on his own feet, or just barely avioded colliding with a cart. It was the busiest time of the day, the sun was high and surprisingly warm, and everyone seemed to be at the Gather. Ka'mond scratched the back of his neck, taking a mouthful of his waterskin. He was actually quite bored. He would have been hanging out with Abyrath, his beloved amthyst, but he had sent her to the beach to play and swim and have fun. Right now he was sure she was chasing fish or seagulls or napping in the sands. Ka'mond smiled at that thought. Later he would maybe join her... But for now.. He would just wander around the Gather.

Asaara and her huntyre Mhedroh were in awe at all the sights, sounds and smells at the Gather. She had never been to a Gather like this before, and was amazed at all the people and dragons running about. She glared with her pinkish-red eyes at the people who had firelizards; she didn't really like them that much ever since she was little. Mhedroh trilled a greeting to every huntyre he saw, this was the first time he saw more of his kind.
Asaara sighed, if only her father would see her now. She kept thinking about him until he bumped into someone. She instantly knew the person was a male and blushed. "Sorry," she said, "I did not see you there."

Ka'mond stumbled backward, gripping Asaara's wrists to steady them both. "Nah. Its fine." He was only slightly taller than the pale featured girl. His eyes met the pinkish colored ones of Asaara's, and he couldn't help but gap a moment at her bleach white hair. "I'm Ka'mond." He grinned, and reddened as he was still holding her wrists. "Haha, sorry." He let go.

Asaara blushed, her face now completely red. "My name is Asaara and this is my huntyre, Mhedroh." she told him. The boy introduced himself as Ka'mond, an amethyst dragonrider. Her eyes met his, and feelings of curiosity entered her. Maybe he could tell her all about his life as a rider. "Do you..." she began, the blush fading from her face, "want to walk with me?"
Mhedroh chirped, somehow encouraging the young boy to join them. Ka'mond let go of her wrists and she giggled as she saw him blush. "No. It's quite alright." She gave a weak smile and walked a few feet away from him, giving a wave of her hand, a signal to follow her. Could this be the beginning of a romantic relationship?

Ka'mond smiled, thinking over the girl's offer. The huntye's chirp made him laugh. "Sure. I'd love to."
The boy watched Asaara with the same curiousity, a similar question rising in his mind. He was in awe of her. It wasn't everyday you met an albino, heck, Ka'mond didn't even know if he'd heard of an albino before! It was amazing how pale she was. So... delicate.. Ka'mond smiled to himself as he noticed how the rosy color brighten Asaara's milky cheeks...
If this did turn into something, it would Ka'mond's first relationship of any kind.. " So...." Ka'mond bashfully scratched his head and looked at Asaara. She really was.. stunning. And his cheeks warmed again.

Asaara smiled and the three the rider, the candidate, and the huntyre walked together. Her face was tinged with red, even though she was an albino. Mhedroh trilled with joy as he saw more and more of his kin. Asaara jumped and clung onto the boy when she saw a flit. "Sorry," she began, "I'm really not fond of firelizards."
She wanted to tell the story, but she was afraid to do it. So, she turned to him and began: "The reason I don't like flits is that I had a bad experience with a wild one. You see, it attacked me and gave me some scars. See for yourself." She stopped and pulled up her sleeves, exposing multiple scars on her arms. Then she pulled up her skirt, exposing more scars on her left leg.
Her eyes began to tear up and she collapsed into a heap, crying.

Ka'mond felt a new eagerness, an excitment. It had been much too long since he had spent time with anyone other than his dragon. They had been training hard lately, strengthening and learning and growing... He nearly yelped when he was clung to, only because he had been in thought, and wasn't expecting the encounter. His breath caught in his throat as he eyed the scars, and he was conflicted of what to say. Part of him wanted to lie and say he didn't like flits either, and that she wasn't alone. But of course, he couldn't do that. Heck, he owned a flit!
The decision only got harder as Asaara began to cry. Ka'mond didn't know what to do. For a moment he just stood, mind churning wildly. Would it be wrong to hug the pale skinned girl? If Ka'mond had been anywhere else, like a place where he didn't feel watched, he'd have scooped Asaara into a bear hug long ago. You see, friendly actions are viewed differently from where Ka'mond was. In the country, nobody judges you or your actions as strictly as he was judged here...
Ka'mond snapped himself back to the present. He knelt beside Asaara, putting his arms around her shoulders. "It's ok. I've never known a bonded flit to attack, unless you really upset it. But even then, they're hearty critters."
He brushed a tear from Asaara's pale yet blushing cheek. "Maybe I could help you. I've got a flit, her name's Star. Don't worry, I wouldn't let her hurt you. I could call her if you want. But not until you tell me so."

Asaara wiped away her tears. Candidates had to be strong, even when in pain. Then the boy wrapped his arms around her shoulders, comforting her. She was amazed about how kind the boy was to her, even if she was an albino. She got off the ground and looked the boy straight in the eyes. "Th-thanks." she told him.
The boy told her that he had a flit, Star, but would only call it if she was alright with it. She was fine, but worried that it could hurt her. But, she had to be brave now, now that she was a candidate for Impression. So she nodded and looked to the skies for that flit.

Ka'mond was quiet. He didn't know what else he could say. And he was glad when Asaara got herself together without further help.
"Star's a sweet girl. If a bit bossy."
He grinned thinking for his flit. It wasn't the same as a dragon but he could call the little topaz. At first nothing happened then a bright orange body popped into the air above the group.
"Hey Star."
He greeted as the flit took to his shoulder. Star looked at Asaara and chirped, tilting her head to the side. This human was scared. She could tell by how she was tended and stiff. She crooned softly tweeting at the huntyre.
"Here, Asaara. You can pet her. Flits atleast tamed ones usually love to be scratched. Star loves her cheek and eye-ridges rubbed. Like this."
He gingerly rubbed the face of Star and her eyes closed in pleasure. Ka'mond watched Asaara's face carefully ready to stop if she became too upset. He felt strangely fuzzy. Giddy almost. It was weird.. like fellow juice but different..
(Nah. Its fine.)

Asaara watched as the flit named Star appeared and landed on the boy's shoulder. She stiffened as the flit stared at her, chirping. Mhedroh chirped back and bobbed his head up and down, like he was dancing to music. Asaara watched as the boy scratched in the spots his flit like the most: the cheek and eye-ridges. Then, she gently rubbed her eye-ridges, being careful not to scare her.
She smiled and scratched her cheek. The flit loved it and now, after many Turns, she finally started to like firelizards. "I guess I was wrong all these Turns," she said, now letting her finger trace the flit's backbone, "they really are nicer than I thought."
But, what was odd about this moment, was that the flit was a color she had never seen before. "What color is she?" she asked, returning her finger to the flit's eye-ridges "I have never seen an orange firelizard before."

Ka'mond released his held breath. This was going well! Star clearly loved the attention and even purred as Asaara touched her.
"Star's special. She's a topaz or a sub-queen. Like a gold or topaz queen dragon but as a flit. I'm so lucky to have her."
He was proud of his little orange firelizard. He loved having the rare color on his shoulder despite the occasional bossing.
"I am glad you see what I mean. There are some rotten flits out there but don't let that ruin the ones that are good. Like humans there are nice people and bad people."
Ka'mond smiled as he looked in Asaara's pinkish eyes. She was unique.. Beautiful.. he loved how white and delicate her skin was, how her blushing bloomed like a rose, how her eyes shined... Ka'mond's eyes were slightly glassy as he thought over these points and observations.

A topaz... Asaara never knew that there were other colors besides white, green, blue, brown, bronze and gold. But a topaz? She never knew she would see one. Asaara smiled as Mhedroh flew off his shoulder perch and flew around the flit's head, encouraging her to fly with him, not to mate, but to have fun.
Asaara giggled as the boy spoke. "I see what you mean, too. People can be mean sometimes. But animals are pure if treated right enough." she replied. She felt the boy stare into her pinkish eyes, as feelings of budding love flowed through them both. Could this be the beginning of love? She cleared her mind from that thought; her father would not approve of her flirting with a rebel. "Listen, I have to finish unpacking. I'll see you later?" she asked.

Ka'mond couldn'thelp but grin. He was very glad to have met Asaara.
Star chirped and cocked her head and joined the huntyre in the air.
Ka'mond felt relieved and happy to know perhaps he'd eased Asaara's fear of firelizards if only slightly. And to his dismay the albino was right to need to go.
"Yeah. We'll definately meet again."
