U'wa had a rather... special job. At least, that's what he had been told when the higher ups had convinced him to do this. Peniath stretched out lazily in the meadow, enjoying the hot sun on her hide, and beyond thrilled that she blended in with some of the nearby mossy trees. Only thing that would make this better would be company! Right Mine? Why don't we have company?
U'wa groaned. "We're here for escape Peni... the others are spread out elsewhere remember?" U'wa was too stuttery and nervous to pull off a job on the inside of the Gather, so instead, he and Peniath held the job of ferry. Her green hide would make her harder to label as a rebel, but she was large enough to carry a few passengers if the situation called for it. U'wa desperately hoped his service wouldn't be needed, their success here today relied on their spies successfully infiltrating the gather to sell wares and pick up recruits.
"We just have to stay here and hide until they come back okay? We'll have some fun later, I promise." That seemed to please the green, and she lowered her head for a midday nap.

Aantara sighed. Gathers were always so boring. J'dol's kissing booth was usually interesting... but of course the Weyrwoman had to come in and she didn't like that he was in a relationship with that sharding excuse for a green rider. Hmph. She had rather liked him... And she wouldn't have minded his one night stands nearly as much, she was sure.
Suga', you should go find some nice guy to flirt with... I think I may have spotted myself my own handsome blue to flirt with... Why don't you go find a nice lookin' boy yer own...
Aantara loved her dragon to no end. Too bad Sularth couldn't be a queen in ehr own right. After all... she was the best green out there. Hmph! Royals are ridiculous creatures, Mine. You should know that by now!
Aantara snorted. She was headed out of the Gather towards more peaceful places... Nto that she didn't enjoy people. Just the opposite, in fact. she wanted to go out there and enjoy people... but... Well... honestly she was getting tired of it in some ways.
Sularth snorted. Her rider was something else some days.
It wsan't long, however, until Aantara spotted someone not so far off. She must not have been paying attention, which made a lot of sense, considering she ahd been chatting with her dragoness a great deal (and annoying the green, no less).
She smiled and waved. "Hi!" She came over at a rather brisk place and gave a warm smile. Oh... it was a cute boy! Younger than her, but definately cute...!

Peniath lifted her head at the sound of something approaching. Mine, someone’s coming? She whispered, as if whoever was approaching would be able to hear her private speech. U’wa shot up as someone came out into the clearing, his breath held nervously. Was this woman an ally? An enemy? She didn’t look like one of the rebels who had come along, so the only question left was whether or not she was going to cause trouble. He really hoped not!
“H-hi…” He mumbled with a bow, letting out his held breath, unsure of how he was supposed to deal with a passerby. He had been hoping no one would stumble across them while they waited, but at least this girl didn’t seem to be there to harm them. Peniath held no such reservations about greeting others. Hi! She chirped, her wings ruffling happily. They had company!

Aantara smiled. "Hi." She walked over to U'wa and his dragon. "Oh... you're Peniath. That makes you U'wa." She smiled warmly at him and gave a little curtsy. She was dressed in her gather finest. "It's a pleasure ot meet you... though Sularth is rather jealous of you for being caught by her brown crush, Peniath... but that's probably just because she hasn't flown herself yet." She winked at the dragon. Her dress was the same soft green as her dragon.
Darlin'... there ain't nothin' to be jealous of. 'sides that. Greens are the true queens of the Weyr. All the metallic are simply shams. They don't have any real power. She hissed from where ever it was she was flirting with that blue.
Aantara sighed and rubbed the back of her head with a cheesy grin. "So... what are you doing out here, U'wa. I know I don't know you welll... but I've seen you around Trelis before. Why aren't you enjoying the frestivities...?"
She looked him over with a smile. He was tall. Very tall. "How does dancing sound to you? I think you could use a good dance... I'll even teach you." She was more or less talking to talk at this point. Aantara was far from as airheaded as she came across... She just wanted to have a little fun... if she knew what she had gotten into... she may have tried to act a bit smarter than she was acting now.

Oh no! She had recognised him! Oooh they were in trouble now! Nonsense Mine! She's just being friendly! Doesn't she look familiar? Peniath was right, U'wa realized as he nervously looked at her. There was something familiar about her but he couldn't place it.. He sincerely hoped he only recognised her from a distance and hadn't forgotten her name! Luckily, she mentioned her dragon's name and the image of the green immediately popped into his mind. "O-oh are you... Aantara?" He stumbled over it, realizing he'd sound like a fool if he was wrong... but he was good at names and faces! He was confident he was right. At least, he was pretty sure this girl had been from Yufa's class. O-oh! She knows Banemith? Isn't he a sweetheart?! I always wanted a knight in shining armor and he's just so suave! She wriggled in excitement as she rambled on about her 'mate', though U'wa wouldn't be surprise if Banemith had already forgotten her and move on. Well... this wasn't so bad was it. Sure she recognised him, but maybe she'd grow board of him and move on. Then she had to go and question why he was here instead of the gather... Shards he was in trouble now wasn't he. "O-oh. Uh. W-why am I out h-here?" He stuttered, suddenly wishing he had thought of a reason ahead of time. "I-i u-uhh... I-I just wanted a break.. y-yeah. A b-break from the noise," He finally forced out, hoping that would satsfy the woman's curiosity. He flushed and looked away from her as she just continued on and on... she was so forward! "D-dance?" He asked, glancing warily at Peniath, but the green had become quite distracted by a passing Vtol and was following the thing around the meadow. "I.. know how to dance..." He mumbled, figuring there was no way to get out of it without being rude. He had learned to dance from a young age; all the proper dances a member of the Hold's court would need to know. In fact, once he warmed up to his partner, dancing was one of the few things U'wa had genuine confidence in... of course his nervousness about dancing with people he didn't know tended to make him look like a fool. He closed his eyes for a moment and listened for the music; they weren't so far from the gather that it couldn't be heard. "A.. a fast song... three-four time..." He mumbled to himself as he stood. However, unlike most people he didn't stand straight, instead he forced a hunch in the hopes of not appearing so tall. Why had he had that last growth spurt?! Coupled with his overall thin build, he really did look awkward standing there, fidgetting and glance to Aantara now and again.

Aantara smiled and curtsied to him. "Indeed. I am Aantara, It's nice to meet you." She watched him. He hunched... but he could be so much more handsome standing up straight... She smiled softly. "Me too... I just wanted a break from all the people and all the leadership and problems that seem to be going on... There seems to be more problems than solutions, U'wa... I'm afraid of what might happen..." She sighed and watched him. Of course, then she ahd to go and ask him ot dance, but... she thought it'd be fun...
She grinned. "It'd be nice to dance wit someone who knows how... I'm afraid... I'm not that good... I do know how, though..." she smiled sheepishly at him. "Please.... just relax, U'wa... I know you'll be wonderful..." She smield at him as he muttered something. She could hear it too... but she was not as good with music and dancing and rythms and all that... She gave him an admiring expression.
She found herself looking him over. EH wasn't exactly the most confident... but... he was nice... and he looked so handsome.... how much more handsome would he look if he did stand up straight. "U'wa... will you... let me see you stand up straight..?"

Phew, she believed him! He sighed in relief, glad that he hadn't had to try to convince her. Life was so much easier when he didn't have to lie. "Y-yeah... I-it can't end well..." He really hope she didn't start talking about the Rebellion. He was a terrible liar, it was why he was out here instead of at the gather with the rest of the rebels.
He glanced at her from behind his bangs as she spoke, glad that the topic was something he had at least some comfort with. Or at least, he had been comfortable until he took a good glance at her. Oh man.. how was he supposed to dance with such a cute girl?! He gulped, stepping, or rather shuffling, closer to her bit by bit. Of course her next words made him feel even more awkward. She... wanted him to stand up straight? To be his real height? He gulped, completely nervous about the idea. For so long he had tried to hide his height.
"S-stand up... I-i...umm..." For a moment he straightened, wringing his hands nervously and keeping his eyes downcast. "L-like this?"

She sighed and almost seemed to spin slightly, almost as if trying to show off a bit, looking back towards the Gather. She smiled and looked back over him at with the soft smile she reserved for people like him who seemed so gentle, kind and... generally sweet... the rare people in the world... And that was definitely him. She could tell already despite the fact that she had only just met him.
She turned back towards him as he straightened and she grinned, stepping towards him. "You're handsome, U'wa... especially when you stand up and are your full height... You don't look like you're trying to hide." she gently touched his hand and pulled it towards her. "Will you lead...?" she asked him softly, almost nervously herself. She looked at him searchingly, but her expression was so gentle and open. So unlike the Aantara most people ever saw.
PeniathLove... Yours is a very handsome young man. Mine Likes him. Wonder if something will happen, suga' 'cause I think this could be something good.
Aantara hoped that U'wa hadn't heard that. Sularth! Sularth just rumbled from wherever she was flirting with that blue... Oh she was such a brat sometimes.
She looked at him. He could be an amazing man someday...

She thought he was... handsome? U'wa gulped, looking away from her nervously. Maybe she was justs seeing things... he was so tall and gangly and awkward. Even after working hard at his rider tasks he was still too scrawny. Maybe the light was playing tricks on her eyes? He bit his lip and slunched back over slightly, unable to keep himself standing straight with the thoughts running through his mind.
"L-lead? M-me?" Of course he knew how to lead; as the male it was his duty after all, but it was still nervewracking. What if he messed up the steps... or what if she decided he was too tall after all? He shuffled closer to her, shyly placing a hand on her hip, or as close as he could manage comfortably, and held up his other hand for hers to take. It was a simple dance, the type most children learned early on, and he hoped it would suffice for this. He took a deep breath, his eyes downcast as he prepared to take the first step.
Before he got very far however, Peniath passed on a message to him, clearly excited. Oh oh Mine! She LIKES you! I always wanted you to fly someone! Unlike Sularth, Peniath broadcasted the message for both humans to hear, causing U'wa's to glance between Aantara and Peniath, a look of terror spread across his reddened face. He froze, unable to do anything more than gape in embarassment.

"Don't slouch back down... You really arm handsome in your own way." She reached up a hand and gently touched his cheek for a brief moment before reaching to take his other hand, her other hand gently resting on his shoulder and she smiled at him. "You don't need to be nervous, U'wa." She smiled warmly at him, gently.
She smiled at him and waited to follow his lead, looking at him and taking in his facial features. She wondered why she hadn't really gotten to see him. She took a deep breath and waited for him, only to hear his dragon say that she liked him... which she did, but Faranth! She turned red and froze, looking down embarrassed, her cheeks burning. "Umm..." she started, but couldn't finish, she just stood there like that, her hand clasping his gently, though it was still a bit tight.
She finally looked up at him. "You... um... um... don't have to fly me or anything... just because I like you..."

He winced as she told him not to slouch, his body subconsciously tensing as he waited for her to hit him as punishment. When there was no pain, only a gentle caress on his cheek, he warily blinked open his eyes and glanced back at her to see a gentle, warm smile directed his way. It reminded him of home, the home before his mother had passed away; when he had come home to similar warm smiles, always praising and never harsh despite his shortcomings. It made him smile slightly in response, and he straightened up, feeling bolstered. Oh but then Peniath had to go and open her big mouth and embarass him like that!
"N-n-no I wouldn't!" He stammered, beyond embarassed at the idea. Of course, then he realized she might take it as an insult, and soon he found himself spilling whatever came to mind. "I-I-I mean y-you're pretty a-and I w-would want to but... oh but I d-don't mean I th-think we sh-should, j-just that we... um..." Oh how was he supposed to explain what he meant!

She smiled softly when he looked up at her and stood up straight again. He was a lot more handsome than he seemed to think he was. In fact... he was pretty amazing looking to say the least. And then.... well... things fell apart... she needed to start all over it seemed...
Aantara felt herself turning very red and she looked down. "U'wa... U'wa," she said finally, her words soothing as she looked up at him and she gently touched his cheek again, stroking gently, comfortingly. "It's alright. We only just met. We don't even know each other that well..." She smiled at him softly and warmly, stroking his cheek gently, her other hand still clasping his rather gently. "Don't worry about it. And thank you for thinking I'm pretty." She smiled at him and blushed a little more.
Faranth... this was awkward.

He had never, in his seventeen Turns of life, felt as embarassed as he did now. How had he ended up saying something so stupid! No doubt she thought he was was an idiot now. He grimaced, looking away until she once again ran her fingers along his cheek. A brief, embarassed smile graced his features as he glanced back at her, noticing she still hand his hand.
"U-um... w-we should... d-dance..." He mumbled, wanting something - anything - to break the awkwardness.
{{Sorry for shortness!}}
