Talian had never known that there were other people out there that were like her in the fact that they couldn’t talk either. So needless to say she was quite surprised when she met Aridani. The older woman was like a brand new toy that she had never seen before, and she wanted to ask her so many things, but didn’t know how to communicate with her. If only she had a voice, well, if she had a voice she wouldn’t be looking up at Aridani with pure amazement written all over her face now would she?

There were many things in the world that surprised Aridani, especially since coming to the Weyr. Each day heralded something new to experience and discover, both good and bad, and Ari had learned to take each with a grain of salt. Regardless of how enjoyable the surprise was, Aridani knew that there was always a potential song to be made from it.
One thing she had never anticipated; however, was finding someone like herself. Aridani looked down at the child, her face likely mirroring Talian's. From her shoulder, Harmony chirped curiously down at the girl.

Talian looked over and clapped her hands softly together, so she would be able to communicate after all. She sent the little sapphire blue firelizard soft, friendly feelings of greetings. She even sent the little firelizard a soft picture of her family, her mom and her dad standing behind her and her twin sister with Stallorth in the background. She did her best to avoid thinking of the dragon that her mother had lost, for the memory of how Loraketh died was still too raw for her young brain to really comprehend. After she sent the picture to the flit she looked back at the woman, and tried to figure out a way to tell this stranger what her name was. But that was something that wasn’t an easy task for a child who couldn’t talk to anyone or anything but her sister, and firelizards.
(((OOC: I is still learning how to play a mute HAF so I is sorry if things get confusing.)))

Harmony chirped in confusion as she felt someone other than Hers in her mind and it took a moment to realize the picture she had gotten was from the small girl in front of her. Cocking her head unsurely, the sapphire flit passed the image on to Hers. Aridani had gotten better and better over the Turns at understanding the images her pet would send her, but this one made her blink in surprise. That was definately the old Weyrking in the image and the two adults looked familiar. Aridani was a simple crafter however, and she had never really had much interaction with the old Weyrleaders. She had only ever seen them from a distance but.. yes she was positive those were the old Weyrleaders in the image... which meant... Was this child one of Inali's daughters?
Ari knelt down to look the girl in the eyes, trying to figure out how she could say something to her. What would she say though? She had no way of asking for the girls name, since neither of them could speak. Oh.. what if she tried what the girl seemed to have done? Ari reached to scratch at harmony's eye ridge, and sent the flit an image of herself with some of her instruments, urging the creature to pass the image on. If she was lucky, Talian would understand that Ari was a harper, and a friend.
She held out her hand in greeting, hoping the girl understood how to do a handshake.

Talian watched as the woman knelt down to her level, and she smiled at the woman. She looked at the blue firelizard and tilted her head to the side when she got an image from her, and then clapped her hands excitedly. She was actually having a conversation with someone, but this was no normal conversation, since the two of them had to use a firelizard in order to talk to each other, and they used pictures instead of words. She had recognized a few of the instruments, but since the woman in the picture had been holding some of them, she figured that meant that she was a Harper. She held up her hands and attempted to mimic the motion a person would do when they played a flute in order to show the woman that she had understood what she had tried to tell her. She took the woman’s hand happily, and shook it just as she had seen her father do on more than one occasion.
