Nightsingers (And Abyrath)! Immortals! Come to the Weyrbowl, Thread is falling! Though it was a practice run, more than anything, J’degar liked to keep the message relay as close to normal as possible. For the Nightsingers weyrlings, the coming ‘Fall would be no different than any other ‘Fall they had flown for the past few seasons. This was nothing more than a warm-up, a reminder of what they would be doing in the sky when the time came. Immortals, make sure your dragonets remain out of the way please.[/i]
“Form up!” He called as the Nightsingers found him, one by one. Once they had all arrived – well, those that still remained alive – He looked them over. “While we’re waiting, give your straps a final check and load up your first few bags of firestone. For this practice ‘Fall, and the true ‘Fall coming up, you will have the following responsibilities.” He glanced over the group; so many misfits, but many had proven their worth already – even the mutant riders.
“I want the swiftest chromatics ferrying firestone to the High, Sky Chasers Wing. Remember to keep moving, watch your airspace, and don’t be afraid to blink between often. The Thread is heavy up there and I want to see you all make it through this unscored. Tempest will be covered by the slower, stamina heavy chromatics. Same as before, be as swift as you can when you fly the sacks up and stay out of the way of the older riders. The rest of you, metallics, will be covering double duty this time. You are to bring firestone to the Wave Runners and replacement tanks to the Sunrise Wing. Is that understood? Wait here on the ground in formation until the Weyrleader gives the signal to launch. From there, remain ready to bring firestone to your respective wings when called.” This coming ‘Fall was, J’degar supposed, their final test. Those who survived it would soon be graduating. The rest… well he couldn’t afford to think of that right now.
{OOC: Nightsingers weyrlings, you will post in the threads for whichever wing you are flying Firestone for! Replying here is not required unless you want to.
Metallics – Sunset and Wave Runners Wings
Slower Chromatics – Tide Chasers Wing
Fast Chromatics – Sky Shakers Wing}
With the eldest weyrlings dealt with, J’degar turned his attention to the newest class; the Immortals. This would be their first experience with true Threadfall. Sure, many of them had probably assisted the ground crews as candidates… but now they had dragons attached to their minds. Every injury, every loss, would be felt ten-fold… and they’d understand the true damage that Thread could cause. He only hoped the lessons in butchering had strengthened their stomachs for this.
“Alright runts, listen up!” He growled at them, looking them all over one by one. “This is a practice drill, but don’t think you can slack off because of it. You will be doing this again in a few day’s time as real Thread rains overhead. The wings need you to make sure there are always fresh bags of firestone ready to be delivered. We had a lesson just last week on how to tell good firestone from bad. Consider this your first test. When the wings launch, you will drag your sorry asses over to that pile of firestone and begin making piles. I, or another grounded rider will come by and check your piles before having you bag them for the Nightsingers class to carry.” Syphraelth moved to sit behind the pile.
“Iro’ris. Miyaka,” The girl’s name was said with a hiss. J’degar was still not pleased about a girl on a bronze, but the leaders had made it clear he was to treat her like a regular bronzer. Well, he would try, but he made no promises. “You two may one day lead a Weyr, it wouldn’t do for you to be failures at it. Welcome to your first hands on lesson at the chain of command. Once the signal to launch has been given, the only riders to receive orders directly from me will be Iro’ris and Miyaka. It will be up to you two to make sure your classmates understand what to do. Is that understood?”
