Akilu sat waiting on Lorendyth's neck, the green pair watching their Flightleader for the signal that would mean they'd be up in the air. A bag of Firestone was slung over the dark dragoness' shoulder, her wings spread wide in preparation to fly. Almost time, almost time....the signal was given and the Flight of dragons rose one after the other into the air, betweening to the practice grounds they used for Threadfall drills, this being one collectively done throughout the Weyr. The green swung into her position, diving below a passing blue as she snaked her head over for some firestone.
*So this is for the Higher Wings, including the Weyrleader's wing. It doesn't have to consist of really long posts, sometimes less is more in this case. When the actual Threadfall occurs staff will have an NPC account they will use to say Thread is heading toward you, or NPC dragon swerves too close to you. These are things to simply keep people posting and keep things interesting. For now just post your character(s) around and interacting.*

Huh, this practice seems silly. It's not as if we haven't fought the real thing before, and we will again soon enough. Shouldn't we be saving our supplies, not to mention our energy, for when they're actually needed?
R'hard rolled his eyes at Kaith's complaints. Stop complaining, you know perfectly well the practice drills are an important part of keeping down casualties and improving efficiency. You're just saying that because you want to go back to your nap.
The sullen silence from the brown dragon was proof enough that he was right. Fine, give me some disgusting-tasting firestone, then, he said at last.
The two of them were already at the training grounds, but hadn't yet taken to the sky. They watched as more and more pairs arrived, and it became clear that soon the practice would begin in earnest; they'd better go ahead and get into position before things got too confusing. As soon as Kaith had swallowed his share of firestone, he spread his wings and lunged into the air, weaving down and around other dragons till he was in his customary position of Sky Shaker's Wingsecond. Then it was just a matter of waiting for orders from the Flightleader, while R'hard kept a lookout for any dragonpairs who looked like they were having trouble.
