Miine, you are wearing a hole in the floor. Come sit with me. I'm ok. I promise.
The sweet voice of Abyrath struggled however to hide the tremors of pain in her wing, which was still quite mangled.
Ka'mond paused in his pacing, and sat himself carefully on his amethyst's leg. Abyrath crooned and nuzzled the tan, frightened boy, tail wrapping around his left leg possesively.
Isn't it thrilling? Here we are, in enemy land! And the rebels are not like Trelis says... But...but do you think my clutch will be ok here?
New fear engulfed Ka'mond. Please don't say that Abyrath! Trelis is our home... And... I miss Asaara... His sweaty cheeks blushed. I would rather you not clutch here but... We can't between with you egg-heavy, and you certainly can't fly...
Abyrath made a sad sound, and laid her head near Hers. She needed a healer..

Back when he was a student at the Healer Hall, M'ril had not been more than an apprentice, but it was still more than many members of the Rebellion had, and he was glad to help out in the infirmary whenever he got the chance. As soon as he got word that there was a patient waiting, the eighteen-turn-old rider took off, his lazuli dragon Rahath not far behind.
The Infirmary was large enough to treat dragons, and Rahath was so small anyway that she didn't take up much room, and she had no trouble making her way inside. A small amethyst and her rider, a young boy, were waiting for them. The boy seemed fine at first glance, but the dragon had a clearly mangled wing, making M'ril fight back a grimace. That was no doubt painful, and he bustled about, looking for numbweed in between addressing the rider.
"Hello, I'm M'ril, of lazuli Rahath, and I guess I'll be the one treating you two. So, what exactly happened to her wing?" Rahath settled beside the amethyst with a comforting croon, introducing herself to the other dragon as well.

Abyrath was visiblly glad to see a small dragon.
Ka'mond nodding a greeting. "She tried to launch off of a branch and it back-lashed against her wing..."
Abyrath crept closer to Rahath, crooning a greeting as well.
"I.. I'm almost positive its broken.. or atleast cut. But I am not a healer.."

M'ril walked over to Abyrath and began to clean the wound. "This might hurt a bit at first, but as I'm done, I'll put the numbweed on it, and then it'll feel better, all right?" He said to the amethyst, though he didn't expect much of a reply. He treated the dragon gingerly, though, ready to back away if she jerked or lashed out from the pain. It wouldn't be the first time he'd taken a blow from a patient.
It did give him an opportunity to get a closer look at the wing as well, and it didn't take him long to decide the limb was in fact broken. As soon as the wound was clean, he turned towards Ka'mond to explain.
"It looks like the wing is broken. It's not a terribly complicated break and shouldn't impede her flying once it's healed, but that will take a couple months. She shouldn't move it too much for the next five to six weeks or so, and flying is definitely out as well. After that, she'll need to start some exercises to get the wing back up to full strength, but that should only take a few weeks."

Abyrath hissed softly, but was patient and calm. She smacked her tail against the ground, but did not harm M'ril.
"No flying... Ok."
Will I fly lop-sided?
She looked concerned. "I'm sure not... Abyrath..." She ignored Ka'mond and stared at M'ril.
"T-thank you very much.."

M'ril tried not to let it show, but he was relieved that he was able to treat Abyrath unscathed. He hurried to get the numbweed ready, wanting to ease the amethyst's pain all the quicker since she had been so well-behaved.
Rahath gave a chortle. Don't be silly! You'll fly fine, because you are being treated by Mine, and Mine is the best healer there is! She arched her neck proudly, staring at M'ril, who tried to hide a blush unsuccessfully.
"I don't know about the best...I'm not much better than an apprentice, though I am better with dragons than I am people, to be honest. Right now I think I'm about the closest we have to a dragonhealer, though. Anyway, as I don't see why you wouldn't fly straight--as long as you do your exercises properly once it's healed. No skimping." He leveled a stern gaze at Ka'mond, knowing the warning would be wasted on the amethyst.
He still needed to set the broken wing properly, but that could wait until he had numbed the pain, and he started spreading numbweed salve generously over the injured area. "There, this should help with the pain. You wouldn't like the next part without it, trust me." He glanced over at Ka'mond and, as much to take their minds off of the wound as because of his own curiosity, asked, "So, how long have you been with the Rebellion, anyway? I haven't seen you around before."

Abyrath purred at Ralath, cocking her head as her wing began to lose feeling.
M'ril's question causued Ka'mond to pale. "W-we're not from.. the Rebellion... We are from Trelis... Abyrath broke her wing here when we were scouting. We had to stay here because this was the only civilized place we could get to. ...She has a clutch growing so we could never between home...."
The boy squirmed, missing his home even more. He'd never left Trelis or atleast, never been in a place of danger like this. This was actually as scary as his first time betweening... His lesson hadn't gone very well...
But it wasn't safety and home he missed. He missed Asaara....
His sudden change of emotion brought his firelizards from between. Star, his topaz, clung to his shirt, weaving around his neck possessively. Tia made a angry shriek that the sub-queen had taken her place! Oh! The horrors to be deprives of Hers! Ka'mond held out his arm, and the amethyst took it.
Last but not least was Whisp, his white, who hovered nearby.

Ka'mond's reaction was not what he had expected, and he rather regretted opening his mouth at all. "Oh...well, you should be safe here. We could use all the eggs we can get, whether they're from an amethyst or a sub-queen."
M'ril backed away as the fire lizards appeared, but since they seemed to comfort the dragon and her rider, he didn't say anything against them. "Just make sure they don't get in the way, alright?" he said as he finished up applying the numbweed salve.
It didn't actually take him that long to set the wing and put it in a binding so Abyrath wouldn't jar it accidentally with her moving about. "Don't worry, you won't need the binding for long, just try not to move it too much too quickly." M'ril stepped back from Abyrath then, smiling at Ka'mond. I think she's pretty much done. Now, how about you? Any injuries I need to look at?"
