It had been a few weeks since the hatching had occurred, and the dragonets were, so far, growing strong and healthy. J’degar had taken to throwing his all into writing reports on their growth and development, keeping records of the riders and dragons that showed potential leaderships and the ones who liked to cause trouble. Their ability to follow instructions and work together was also being recorded in the hopes the wingleaders would find use in the information. To say J’degar was spending all his free time writing reports in order to help the wingleaders was a lie though. No, he was doing it to keep his mind occupied. After all, a busy mind didn’t have time to wander and worry.
There were times that paperwork just didn’t cut it however. This morning was one of those times. J’degar had woken in a cold sweat, having been forced awake by countless nightmares, and he knew there was no chance he would be finding sleep again anytime soon. Instead, he had gone about trying to distract himself with his writing, but he couldn’t distract himself enough. Finally, at Syphraelth’s urging, J’degar had decided to use his second most successful distraction technique; fellis and hunting felines.
With a pouch full of treats and tidbits, J’degar made his way down to the lower caverns. Lucky for him, it was a rest day and the weyrlings would not need his attention today; he had as much time as he wanted to stalk the caverns in search of fluffy friends to pet and cuddle. Whistling quietly, he moved with slow steps, trying not to scare away any of the potential felines. it was, perhaps, odd to see the normally grumpy man stalking through the corridors with a giddy grin on his face; but he didn't expect anyone to be down there so early.
“Here kitty kitty…” he mumbled quietly.

A young girl with a batch of yellow hair... being shorter then most around her... Next to her was a black dragon, well of the Ebony rank but not completely black all over. He seemed to have a goofy look on his face as he trotted along, on his back was a splotch of white.... A pure white feline, Lilia's whose name is Helia.... Yeah something part of her name. But Helia was comfortable on the back of Nauth in a makeshift feline harness that Lilia had sewn up.
Lilia however had a bag with her, she had taken to walking around with a rather bulky and heavy mobile sand tray. Something she could write in to communicate with people as a form of habit... but with Nauth right by her side she didn't need to use it as much. A little smile was directed towards him, he was still so small he could come into the caverns with her... Which he loved to do anything that was active. But then the Weyrling Master?!?! Lilia's eyes went wide as she suddenly stopped and looked around. Where could she go, did he see them? Suddenly she started to tremble and want to run away... Nauth on the other hand just started to bound up to him while Helia gave a irritable meow at the bumpy ride. Hi hi hi hi hi hi its Nauth!!!

It was the voice of a dragon, rather than anything else, that caused J’degar to turn around. He hadn’t expected anyone else to be out and about in the corridors, but he supposed he really should have been listening. Of course, tracking felines required intense concentration; the critters were quick and not always trusting of humans. Regardless, he whipped his head around at the sound of the voice, recognizing Nauth’s name from his list of class members.
“What on Pern did you stick on your dragon?” His voice was grumpy, he wasn’t particularly pleased with being interrupted by one of the girls in his class, especially since she was one of the quiet ones that hadn’t taken well to butchering animals on a daily basis. Even now, in the dimly lit caverns she looked about ready to pass out. With a roll of his eyes, he stepped towards the pair and went back to looking at the strange contraption that Nauth wore, only to notice movement coming from it once he got closer. Was that… it was!
“What a cute kitten!” He blurted out before he could stop himself. Well shard it, maybe she would notice how excited he had sounded. Pretending he hadn’t done something to ruin his reputation, he figured he may as well do what he wanted to do anyways. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a small dried treat and held the morsel in his fingers as he held it out for Helia.

Lilia flinched a bit when she read gar's lips as he asked what she had put on her dragon. But of course she couldn't really respond as his expression informed her that he hated her... like really hated her... What did she do to deserve this?!?!?!?!! She wasn't a candidate!!! she didn't ask to get a Dragon!! she didn't ask for this life!!! In fact she would have started to cry if it wasn't for Gar's second reaction to the kitten..... And she merely stood there stunned a bit and stared.
Nauth though frowned and looked at his rider, giving a soft croon before suddenly she was fine again? The ebony merely sat down on his back legs as he looked confused and lost. Nauth's says her name is Helia. Mine says you can pet her.... His voice was soft, yet still bubbly, just a tad confused. Lilia though slowly walked over and gently rubbed against his eye ridges as she carefully watched Gar... Not speaking a word as of yet. Helia on the other hand could smell the food from a mile away. Slowly she stood up and stretched as she tried not to seem too interested in it until she was ready to gently take the treat from his fingers, purring softly as she did.

J'degar's expression softened as the little feline eventually moved to take the treat, and he was pretty sure he could hear it purring. How adorable! He gave the feline a moment to adjust to his presences before reaching out to try to gentle offer the cat a pet. He glanced over to the girl. She sure was quiet, was she always this quiet? He tried to recall the weyrlings. She does not speak, GarMine.
J'degar's movements paused and his eyes took on the far off look as Syphraelth spoke to him, and he glanced at Lilia again. Was it that she simply didn't speak, or that she couldn't? "Well girl. I suppose I should ask you why you are dragging your dragonet around the caverns with a feline strapped to his back, instead of working on chores." He certainly assigned a lot of chores, though in hindsight, she may have finished them by now.

Helia was enjoying having attention solely on her right now, and the treat was good maybe she would have to train her human to do something like this more often. While the white little furrball spent time with J'degar though Lilia just softly held onto Nauth as she watched the older man. If he was a bad man wouldn't Helia be mean to him? Yes Helia never really led her wrong right? Her mind was slightly in turmoil but Nauth was only concentrating on not bouncing around all over the walls since Helia was on his back. Miss Furball apparently likes you, Nauth likes you too nice man, nicey nice nice nice nice!!!
Lilia flinched a little bit though when he started to speak up towards her, but she carefully watched his lips before she took out her small portable sand table she used to write with. Carefully she started to write in it before she held it towards J'degar in the hopes it would help matters... "I finished my chores and I wanted to try to get Helia and Nauth to get along better and not have her feel like she has no home anymore." Lilia just kind of seemed to cower a little bit though as she waited for him to read it.

He quirked his eyebrow as Nauth called him, of all things, nice. He supposed he had his moments, like most people, but he certainly would not consider himself a nice person generally. Had being at Trelis truly made him soft? Yes, the voice in his mind whispered. It's made you soft, made you fall in love again. He shook his head to rid himself of the thought. "You smell Milly on me, dont you?" He mumbled, thinking of his own feline back in his weyr. His poor little girl had been so lonely lately, having gone from regularly having two or three people around to having one if she was lucky. The poor social cat just wasn't coping well. He glanced over as Lilia offered up writing of some sort, and at first he gave her a look before deciding he may as well read. Well, at the very least her writing was strong, that was good. "You're a dragonrider now girl, stop acting like a scared little Holdgirl." He snapped, grumbling in annoyance. While he approved of the girl being cautious, there was a limit to how much caution was good. He needed confident wingriders, not little girls who wanted to hide. "If you're going to do something, do it with confidence. If you've done your chores then you're on your own time; do whatever yo want but do it with confidence and pride."

Lilia just huffed a little bit, it seemed that he thought highly of Dragonriders, she just frowned a little bit and glared at him. Course she was scared, this was all so new to her. She never really had anything change in her life since long ago, but now everything she knew had changed and she just couldn't seem to get used to it. Nauth though just was his happy bubbly self as he watched his rider and gently nudged her and crooned softly. A little smile creeped across Lilia's face as she awkwardly went to scratch his eye ridges softly.
Helia though just was more interested in Iro then anything, swatting at the ebony softly as he moved under her and just making her move when she didn't want to. But she purred softly back at Iro..... Then his talk towards her human, she didn't like it so she crouched down and tried to jump up ontop of Gar's shoulders, not really with claws she didn't want to hurt him just distract him by her acrobatic skills.
