MASTERHARPER "GALEDEEP" GALEDREN
Name:
Galedren
Nickname:
Galedeep
Pronunciation:
GALE-DREN
GALE-DEEP
Age:
Thirty-Five Turns
Season Born In:
Spring, I1 T168
Gender:
Male
Sexuality:
Heterosexual
Appearance:
Galedren, more commonly called Galedeep, is tall, standing at nearly six feet and three inches. His body is in decent shape for a man of his craft, though as he has aged he has lost muscle and gained a bit of weight. His hair is beginning to gray, though it is still fairly shaggy and dark brown. The graying is mainly concentrated in his beard, which he keeps clipped nice and short. His eyes are a concentrated hazel-brown, and on sunny days appear more green than on cloudy days.
The Masterharper holds himself with respect, but not pride, for he is not a prideful man. He tends to wear simple clothing in Harper-blue and blend in with the common man. Though not prideful, he does walk with an air that seems to command respect, as he has become accustomed to getting it.
Through his time as Masterharper, Galedren has acquired quite a few age lines across his face since the job can be rather stressful at times. However, the most prominent lines on his face are still laugh-lines, for the Masterharper loves a good joke and smiles often. His skin is a bit pale, since he does stay inside a lot, which tends to lead to sunburn if he stays outside too long. However, as he tells anyone who tries to prevent the sunburn, once he burns once, it will fade into a tan and he won't burn again.
Personality:
NICE
Above all, Galedren is a nice man. He is kind to all he meets, from the most respected Lord Holder, to the Weyrleaders, to the lowliest drudges and cooks of a Weyr. To put it simply, the Masterharper believes in the rule, "treat others as you wish to be treated," and thus always extends a hand of kindness and caring to anyone he meets.
QUIET
Unlike his brother, J'degar of brown Syphraelth, who likes to yell a lot, Galedren is a rather softspoken man-- except when he's singing, of course. He would much rather sit at a table and listen than talk, and when he does speak, his voice is surprisingly quiet for a man of such stature and respect.
RESPECTFUL/ RESPECTED
As goes along with his kindness, the Masterharper is also respectful of all around him. This in turn earns him respect, which he simply doles out again in being respectful. Of course, as the Masterharper, he automatically gains respect, but Galedren would rather try and convince himself that he truly earned it through his kindness and respect of others rather than simply having it because of his high position in life.
HUMBLE
Galedren does not brag of his position. He is not a prideful man, and is thus rather humble when it comes to his accomplishments. While tireless in his work, he never speaks about it unless asked, and then is incredibly modest about what he may be working on, which can be incredibly infuriating for the other Masters at the Harper Hall-- after all, he wasn't elected Masterharper for nothing!
DREAMY/ FORGETFUL
The Masterharper, unfortunately, is not the most attentive of masters. In fact, he tends to wander off in daydreams rather frequently, and even forgets what he was doing on occasion.
SELF-CONCIOUS
With a high position in the world, Galedren often finds himself singled out. This causes him to try desperately to blend in with the common man, though he fails rather frequently. The Masterharper tries very hard to simply "be one of the regular people," since he feels almost as if he doesn't deserve the place of Masterharper.
Family:
Mother; Unknown (Yaelsa of Green Tierath)
Father; Unknown (G'ja of Brown Hanaith)
Twin Brother; J'degar, Weyrlingmaster and rider of Brown Syphraelth (35)
Sister-in-Law; Agella (Deceased)
Nephew; Firogel (13)
Location:
Southern Weyr ->
Harper Hall ->
Trelis Weyr
History:
Galedren never knew his parents, only his twin brother, Jirdegar. The twins were the result of a Flight, and thus spent their childhood in the creche with the other children that did not know their parents, or had parents too busy to take care of them. Either way, it was the childhood that both boys had.
The twins, however, were as opposite as boys could be. Galedren was nice and calm, while Jirdegar was rather... wild. When it came time for the boys to choose a craft, Galedren naturally chose the craft as sweet-tempered as he was: Harper. Jirdegar chose beast, and that was the last the twins saw of each other for many turnss.
Galedren loved his craft, and worked extremely hard to perfect it. He had natural talent with singing and gitar, and earned the nickname "Galedeep" when his voice settled into a deep, low-ranged tenor. The hardest things for Galedren in his craft were drums, and copying records. He simply didn't enjoy the drums, as he believed them to be unrefined, and copying was dull work.
He'd rather be singing!
And sing he did, up until the day he was made a Journeyman. Unlike most, however, his Journeyman days were spent at Harper Hall. As he aged, he grew more refined at his craft, and though rather young when the Masterharper passed away, Galedren was elected as the new Masterharper at thirty turnss old, mainly due to his personality and range of skill over all instruments. Not to mention his singing, of course.
Since he was elected Masterharper, Galdren has been traveling a bit more. With the rise of the rebellion, he has decided to stop at Trelis Weyr for a time, under the pretense of visiting his brother. Naturally, however, he is there to see just what this "Rebellion" is all about, and if he can possibly stop it... or help it.
Craft:
Harper
Ranking:
Master
Strengths:
As the Masterharper, Gaeldren has strengths in all areas on his craft. His main passion, however, if the gitar and pipes.
Weaknesses:
Though able to play both, Galedren has never been a fan of brass or drums.
