Mae opened the door to her room, hoping her half-brother (or who the lonely girl so desperately hoped was her half-brother) Cayin would take up her invitation. She had a tray of meatrolls, slightly stale and quite cold. Mae had taken too many the last meal on purpose ; so she could spend more time teaching herself yo read and write better. Mae was not dumb, no, just uneducated. She was a brilliant and natural Harper. The boyish girl flopped on her cot, thrown quite unladylike like in a sprawled manner. Meeoow?A fluffy, one blue eyed, one green eyed kitten jumped and crawled to Mae's face sniffing and purring. "Hello, Pip! Anything exciting happen?" The kitten blinked and suddenly bristled. Mae stroked the white and brown baby. There was a tapping sound. A steady and faint but clear tick, tick, tick, tick sound, coming from... Oh! Mae leapt to her feet, fetching the meatrolls. The pot of hot sands on the hearth was vibrating with movement. The two firelizard eggs she'd bought... they were hatching!! Perhaps Cayin would be here to watch with her? That would be great fun! Pip, however, did not like how the pot shook, and she manned a fort under the bed. Mae couldn't help it. There weren't any mother lizards around to hum a hatching song, so Mae decided to greet the babies as best she could.
The little queen, all golden Flew at the sea. To keep it back, To turn it back She flew forth bravely.
As she attacked the sea in rage A holderman came nigh Along the sand Fishnet in hand And saw the queen midsky.
He stared at her in wonder For often he'd been told That such as she Could never be Who hovered there, bright gold.
He saw her plight and quickly He looked up the cliff he faced And saw a cave Above the wave In which her eggs he placed.
The little queen all golden Upon his shoulder stood Her eyes all blue Glowed of her true Undying gratitude.
[/i] Mae let her voice be the only sound in her room, letting the final word of the song fall in silence. The eggs were stirring, shaking with renewed energy now.

He lazily made his way down the corridor, towards the room Mae was apparently staying in. He had gotten her invitation to visit much earlier, though it had completely slipped his mind until Jalith mentioned the time. The blue dragon followed behind him silently, an enigma in itself. Jalith rarely spoke, even to his rider, and if not for the mind they shared, C'yin would probably forget the dragon was with him at all.
A sudden humming made him shake his head and glance at Lehr as the white flit launched off his shoulder and towards Mae's room. Well, that was strange. Knocking on the door, C'yin peered in slowly, not wanting to disrupt her if she was busy.
"Mae?" He called when she seemed to be occupied with eggs. Oh! Was she trying to impress some firelizards? He stepped into the room, Jalith at his heels.

Mae turned her head to see Cayin, smiling broadly. "Cayin! Come quick! The eggs are hatching!"
She didn't hesitate to hug him, not even thinking about if he would be comfortable with that. It meant the world to her to know she atleast had some piece of a family...
Pip bounded out to greet Cayin, pausing in the middle of rubbing her head against him as she spied Jalith. The white and brown kitten froze, turning into a puffball. Mweeeroor!
Once again Pip was under the bed, hiding from the strange and giant creature.
Mae looked to where Pip was hiding. "That's Pip. She's never seen a dragon before...."
The pot was still shaking and Mae knelt back near it. "How will I know when I impress?"
Her blue eyes focused on the weyrling.

C’yin was almost knocked off his feet as Mae practically bowled him over with a hug, which he prompty returned without a second though, grinning from ear to ear. “Eggs?” He asked after a moment. He hadn’t known the girl had obtained some flit eggs prior to seeing them, but the idea of watching them hatch was certainly fun. Lehr flew down to land on his shoulder once more, the little white still humming the welcoming song as he watched the eggs.
“Hey Pip,” He grinned down at the feline before she decided to run and hide under the bed, earning just a nod of amusement before C’yin turned back to answer the question. “You’ll know.” Was all he said. He couldn’t clearly remember impressing Lehr, he just knew one minute he didn’t have a flit, and the next he had the white. It was as simple as that. “Oh… you need to feed it,” He remembered after a moment, recalling that firelizards often tended to bond to whoever fed them.
Jalith cocked his head to the side as the feline hissed at him, and he couldn’t help but feel intrigued by the strange creature. Dropping onto his belly, he shuffled closer to the bed and peeked his head under, trying to see the furball. This creature fears me, Mine? Why, I do not understand. He spoke for Mae to hear as well, knowing His would not have the answer he desired.

Mae nodded, peeking into the pot, and watching eagerly. "I stumbled upon these eggs recently, a wild green's clutch I would guess. They were the only two, unbroken eggs. The rest looked to have been trampled or eaten..."
She watched Jalith with a smile, hoping Pip would be ok. She knew Jalith wouldn't harm her, but Pip didn't know that.
The kitten's blue and green gaze watched Jalith, eyes very wide and alert. She was a bit bigger than his snout, or one of the blue's paws. But Pip was much too curious to remain where she was. Very carefully, she crept forward, sniffing at Jalith's face. Her head cocked. What was he?
"Well, Pip has never seen a dragon before. The largest thing she has seen would be a dog from the view out the window. Not only are you something new to her, but you are many times bigger. It is nothing personally against you, I promise."
Pip gave Jalith a question look. Meeow? She said, as if to ask 'What are you?'
Suddenly, a blue foot poked out of one of the eggs, then a purple tail. "Oh! Look!" Even though Cayin was watching, Mae couldn't help but exclaim excitedly.
A blue firelizard stuck his head out, hissing as it was hard to get out of his egg. A purple rear popped out of the sand, wiggling until an amethyst baby toppled into Mae's lap, squeaking indignantly. Mae held out the meatroll, only to have it snatch up quickly.
The amethyst tried to hop out of her lap, but Mae sat her down with the food. "There, see? It is nice to sit here." She whispered, stroking the brightly color female.
The blue made agitated cries of anger, as he was stuck, with his tail, head and one foot free. "Come on, you can do it. I know you are a strong blue."
Even if the blue couldn't understand what Mae said, he crooned and wiggled until he was free. He also recieved a meatroll and a place of Mae's lap.
Pip was very upset. Ah! Little bitty giant creatures! Sitting on HER snuggler!
The brown and white kitten looked at Jalith as if to say 'What is going on?'

As the cat sniffed at his face Jalith snorted; the feline’s fur tickled his nose and made the dragonet want to sneeze, which he promptly did. What are you doing Jally?. The dragon glanced away from the feline to look at His. Jalith, Mine. I would appreciate the proper use of my name. The blue looked back at the feline, dropping his head to be on level with her again. Observing, it would seem. I would like to know what this creature is. Might I eat it? C’yin chuckled and quickly explained why eating the furball would be a terrible idea, to which the dragonet simply swished his tail and continued his observation.
“Oooh!” Distracted by her excited speech, C’yin stepped towards Mae and the eggs, peering over her shoulder in time to see the eggs beginning to hatch. A blue and an amethyst huh? How wonderful! Lehr crooned warmly from his place on C’yin’s shoulder before ducking to hide again. As happy as the white was to see new friends, he was horribly shy.
“They look strong and healthy, congratulations.” He smiled, clapping her on the shoulder. Jalith stepped away from the feline to stare up at the little cousins curiously. C’yin rubbed at his eye ridge affectionately. “Do you have names for them?”

Pip squeaked and puffed up, tail becoming bushy and funny. Meew! she cried and ducked.
Mae with smiling broadly, stroking the two firelizards that were bloated and asleep on her lap.
"Oh Cayin! They're so cute!"
Pip meowed, crawling toward Mae. The kitten made a whining sound and snuggled against Mae. The amethyst woke up, crooned and curled up on Pip's back. Pip stared wide eyed for a moment and went to sleep.
"The blue one is Tiide, and the amethyst Violette."

C’yin continued smiling, glad both eggs had hatched so well. His own white had been, and still was, a treasured companion. He was surprised at how quickly Mae had come up with names; it had taken him days of thinking to finally name Lehr, and even then it had been more an accident than anything else.
“Lovely names, do they have any meaning?” He could guess it related to their colours, but there was always a chance that there was a deeper meaning to the names. “What are you planning to do now that they’re hatched?”

Mae at first didn't answer, only stroked the flits and kitten in her lap. Pip was purring and the firelizards snored softly.
"I... I don't really have a reason, besides Violette is violet and Tiide is blue..." She smiled.
Oh yes. Now she had a suitable family. A brother, a dragon-in-law and three adopted children... That is clear of course, as two are reptilian and one is furry.
The only feminine thing Mae really experianced was well.. A young girl's dream of romance and future family. Her very own family.... The thoughts made her blush.. Maybe Cayin wouldn't notice?
Pip quite enjoyed Mae's warm thigh and Violette's tiny warm body. Yes. This miniature baby giant thing was not a problem.. Unless- Mooew! What if these tiny thing became BIG??!
