Name: X'dyr (Xandyr)
Pronunciation: Xsa-n-der
Age: 27 turns
Season Born In: Winter
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual
Location: Crom Hold, Telgar Weyr, Rindell Rebellion
Rank: 3rd Knight
Wing/Pack: Dawnfliers
Family: Father Velkin, 44, Miner, Crom Hold
Mother Beatrice, 46, Healer, Crom Hold
Caretaker Journeyman Gregel, 39, Smith, Crom Hold
Unknown other siblings
Appearance: When one first sees this garnet rider, often they wonder how come he can be so tall and possibly be so daunting. Standing at around 6 feet and 9 inches he is just a tower over most and can easily be seen in crowds. And he isn't just a pole either, he has a slightly stocky thickness to him of well defined muscles. Not built like the size of a barn, but not like a panther either, he is actually in the middle of both strength and agility as he doesn't favor either or. Cold, and possibly somewhat lifeless dark purple eyes peer out from their narrow containment. Almost as if he is frustrated or bored with everything around him. Slightly broad nose, along with a wide set of thin lips completes a look of almost like a knight, handsome or not, depending on people's views. Black hair, wispy with a hint of some wave in it flows down to about under his shoulder blade. Thin and able to be pulled back into a braid or something even with riding gear on.
Personality: The first thing one would notice is just how cold and uncaring X'dyr can be. He doesn't care if you are the queen of the world, or a lowly drudge... he treats pretty much everyone the same especially in public. He just feels he shouldn't have to waste his own time and energy on the increasing stupidity of those who live on this wonderful planet they call Pern. Of course this doesn't make him completely uncaring, there might be a few who prove that they are rather smart and wiggle their way through his hard outer shell... into a chewy hard to swallow center.
He isn't that much different to those who do wiggle their way into his heart either, he is very strict and harsh with high expectations. Elite of the elite one would say, and if you don't prove to him you're worth his time then he will make it so he doesn't have to waste time on you. He hates leaders who are chosen just because they were born to the previous leaders, or by the color of their dragon's hide. Dragons never are a hundred percent right especially some golds who pick stupid pathetic people after all.
Under the vast and thick layer upon layer of hate, sarcasm, and disgust towards others however... He can be rather gentle, however he tries to hide this as he views it as a major weakness for him so he tends to not even really have long lasting relationships. If people get too close he tends to do a kind of self destruct and treat them worse to chase them off only to be sullen even more afterwards.
History: One day a miner named Velkin had gotten into a terrible cave in at Crom Hold, it was so bad that everyone thought he might be dead at one point. Thankfully though his life was spared, but an arm and a leg weren't so lucky as he had to have the first completely removed and a part of his leg as well. His main healer, a woman named Beatrice, took pity on him and well one thing led to another. The child wasn't out of marriage, nor out of love, nor could the two be in a family since Velkin was already married along with Beatrice to other people. But Xandyr was unaware of such a thing, that he knew of only his mother for the first few years of his life.
Early memories did contain some sort of guy, who was Beatrice's husband who hated the fact he was of another man's blood. Almost every time he saw the kid he would try to treat him like he never existed.... Though when he did show he was good at something, it was the only time he got a little pat on the head from the guy before he noticed what he was doing and turned away. But unknown to the parents, Xandyr had started to notice when he was six turns old just how cold they were towards each other. They were never as friendly as other parents together, and that one guy uncle Velkin was always nice to him somewhat.
Finally it seemed to be too much for Beatrice as she broke down, she told Xandyr just who was his father and what had happened. Before he could even really get over the shock from that he was already shipped to the smith hall to be apprenticed and looked over by Gregel, who at the time was another apprentice and in charge of the younger ones. Sometimes he got letters from both his mother and father, wishing him well or happy birthday but other then that he never saw them again. He never really got a loving family to grow up in, but neither were they abusive so it wasn't as terrible as some others. Inwardly Xandyr believed that one day his parents, blood and non, would be proud of him if he became the best he could be.
However the turns went by, and he was 22 turns years old... He couldn't do anything for himself as a smither, only help others and that wasn't it at all. His obsession about trying to be the best for his parents had slowly turned into a weird pride that distanced himself from others. He didn't like that he wasn't one of the best, so he didn't feel like he deserved to have anyone around him... Though when he did do well he thought others didn't deserve to be around him. Keeping mostly to himself, his only passion being his work as it gave him some satisfaction without much risk.
When he was helping someone with an order for a dragonrider though, the rider and dragon both said he would make a great candidate and whisked him away before long. His first hatching he didn't impress, but he stayed at Telgar Weyr just because he could help repair the other smithing at least. But it happened, he impressed on his second hatching on one of the weird mutations... The Garnet had some odd markings but they were all covered in goo so couldn't really tell, in fact immediately he went to attack the nearest person. This being Xandyr, he went with it having been in brawls before but not really that good of a fighter..... But then it happened, the pressure of another mind inside his with the words Now look at what you did mine, you made me break a nail!
Stumped, X'dyr now he was called just stared at the garnet who pouted and looked at one of his slightly nicked claws before urging for food. Almost immediately one could tell that this Garnet was slightly off, even though he had a violent streak in him. He just gushed and followed X'dyr everywhere, just fangirling pretty much over him and wasn't turned away by the harshness that was directed back at him. Alustrith though knew deep down X'dyr loved him, and he loved his rider... They were like yin and yang and kept each other together. When Alustrith got too out of line, X'dyr reprimanded him, when X'dyr was too much work and no play Alustrith went to start to play with someone and got him to play keep away.
However one thing started to irk X'dyr very much, and that was how the Weyrs were set up... With whomever impressed whatever color, it was like blood heirs given stuff because they were born. Not because of their skill or anything but because of fate, and not all were good leaders or deserved such high ranks. But Telgar Weyr had heard of the Rebellion, and many things were talked about... X'dyr didn't want to talk though, he wanted to do and get it done with. So he went to join the rebellion and help out, make things happen and change the world into a more efficient state.
Craft: Smithing
Ranking: Journeyman
Strengths: He can tell the quality of anything, also able to help get the desired quality by working out the equations for the fires and coolings.
Weaknesses: He is just average in all that he makes, no matter what he does they are just average. Even though he does the same things as what he does for others he never gets as good... Some say its because he has no heart to even put into his work.
Dragon
Name: Alustrith
Pronunciation: Ah-luu-stir-ith
Age: 4.2 turns
Type: Dragon
Rank: Garnet
Size: 33.2 feet long
Color Codes: 990000
660000
FF0000
Appearance: On the smallest end of all garnets, Alustrith is a tad more bulky then most of the slender types of Garnets much to his chagrin. A thick muscular tail is still whip like but not as thin as others. Long in limb even his wings are longer then the average wingspan for most Garnets, especially of those his size. Almost all of his body is of a deep blood red, nothing too bright yet nothing too dark. Alustrith has odd markings as well, mostly concentrated on his face. Darker red appears over his eyes and around his lips as if he is wearing make up, while lighter tints are streaked over his cheek and over the rest of his body to give depth of hair and even possibly clothes it could be seen as.
Personality: One would think this Garnet was a female, but sadly in his mind he is a male. He has to be impeccable, no dust or dirt and clean with plenty of oiling all the time. Alustrith has to be the best one out there, and the best looking. He is pretty much a female fangirl trapped in a male dragon's body, as he tends to croon and gush over his rider and all that he does. Often calling him a cool cold type who any girl would love to be with. However what he most loves though is fighting, anyone who is a good fighter he wants to have a chance at then starts to praise them.
Sure he has his violent tendencies, making him rather very malicious as he loves dried blood especially on his claws it seems. In fact he loves to just randomly attack people to help get their blood to accentuate his own form and handsome beauty. The more cool or handsome the person, the more he wants to mark them some way to be even better too... Marking as in giving them scars, and scars are the best honor he can give because they just make things better all the time.
However Alustrith has another personality however, one might say it is even a split personality. This one however is an exact mirror of his rider, if it is from fangirling so much or not it is hard to say.
Mind-Voice (If applicable):
Miiine I broke a nail again... can I please just bite his leg off instead?
Have you ever heard of a very whiney cheerleader, female wise. You know the stereotypical bimbo who cries every time she breaks a nail? Yeah thats how Alustrith's voice can be most of the time. A fangirl to the extreme though he often times purrs a bit as well, nor having the whiney bit all the time.
