Name: Vitari
Pronunciation: vih - TAR - ee
Age: 18
Season Born In: Late Winter
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heteroromantic asexual
Appearance: Vitari is 5'4", fairly unremarkable in height. She's cultivated a fine figure, with just enough muscle to give her a toned appearance without looking like she is some "common field laborer", as she thinks of it. Her curves are nothing newsworthy but fit her frame, a pretty hourglass which she strives to maintain. She has been known to obsess about her body, wanting to make sure that there are no glaring flaws or weaknesses. With her face, she worries somewhat less, largely because it is out of her control. She would be distressed if she recieved any scars there, but she has accepted her bone structure and skin tone, for the most part. She considers her chin too pointy and large, but she is otherwise content with her appearance. Vitari has black hair which falls to the bottom of her shoulder blades but is normally tied up in some manner. Her eyes are hazel, generally appearing a murky brown but ranging into greyish green or simply grey depending on what she is wearing that day.
Personality: Vitari is...a bit of a control freak. Okay, maybe more than a bit. She is controlling and manipulative, always seeking her interests first and foremost. She is power hungry, wanting to ensure that no one can tell her what to do or hold things over her. Her position at birth was high enough to encourage these thoughts, and the promise of advancement guaranteed they would become deeply ingrained. She's spent most of her life sure she was going to marry the next Lord Holder; she's got big dreams for herself, sees herself in a position of power and respect one way or the other, and Faranth help you if you get in her way.
Vitari is very open-minded when it comes to..."networking." She may feel no sexual attraction and have trouble understanding why anyone would let themselves be swayed by sex, but she's not above using that human "weakness" for her benefit. Vitari is good-looking and knows it and will gladly trade sexual attention and services for personal favors down the road.
Vitari rarely raises her voice - yelling is not dignified and is not the proper conduct of the future Lady Holder of Telgar. If she's mad at you, she's probably going to be passive-aggressive about it, either overly sweet or coldly, sarcastically critical. This criticism is not limited to those she dislikes, however. She is fiercely critical of herself, trying to make sure she is always perfect, and will despise herself if she finds convincing evidence that she is not. Her loved ones, too, are held to this high standard. They must be the best they can be, always striving to be better. To do less is to let themselves down and make Vitari look bad.
Vitari is extremely possessive of things she considers hers, whether that be a person, object, or compliment. Even if she appears to have given something up, she may become outrageously possessive once someone else shows an interest in it. She's like a small child with her toys - she doesn't want to play with it, but that doesn't mean you can play with it. The moment you pick up her discards, she's going to act like she wanted it all along.
Family:
Father: Gelreti - 53 - land holder near Telgar hold
Mother: Vissa - deceased
Brother: Giresti - +3 - harper apprentice
Location: Born near Telgar hold. Now in Trelis
Rank: Weyrling
Wing/Pack: Immortal Wing
History: Vitari was the first born daughter, second child, of a minor land holder near Telgar. Not the proper lord Holder, but still a somewhat influential man. Influential enough, at any rate, that when he started complaining about the way the Lord Holder of Telgar was running things, the man wanted to appease him and shut him up...in the nicest way possible. They arranged a marriage between Vitari and the Lord Holder's fourth son, Tylmaj. Of course, Vitari was five at the time, Tylmaj not much older, so it would be a while - they agreed that when Vitari turned eighteen the two would be married.
The two grew up seeing each other fairly often. Had to foster a bond, after all; having a marriage to build alliances wouldn't work very well if the two hated each other and ended up killing each other. Vitari grew up hearing Tylmaj's grand plans for how he would become Lord Holder despite the unfortunate birth order, so she of course came to view herself not as the future wife of a fourth son but as the future wife of the future Lord Holder. It was quite a pleasant idea, so she was not at all pleased when her fiance began to change his mind. Sure, Lord Holder still sounded appealing, but wouldn't Weyrleader be nice, too? He wouldn't have to deal with diplomacy or taxes or anything. Just sit back and let the tithes roll in. Vitari wasn't sure it would be that easy, and she had grown quite used to the idea of being Lady Holder. She tried to convince him to abandon the silly idea - being his mate gave her no power if he was a dragonrider, after all - but he was stubborn. When he brought it up to his father, the man was of course excited at the idea of finding a use for his youngest son. Once a searchrider confirmed that he was, in fact, a potential dragonrider, they proceeded to throw him at every hatching available.
Throughout the process, Vitari tried to convince Tylmaj to abandon the idea. After the sixth failed hatching, he was about ready to do as she wished. At the seventh, however, he finally Impressed. To a green. Tylmaj - or T'aj, rather - was delighted. Sure, he wanted a bronze, but...she was just so perfect! There was no denying that she was the best dragon on Pern, now or ever.
Vitari did not agree. Her fiance had just gone from dreaming of Lord Holdership to being nothing. Just another greenrider. Vitari's eighteenth turnday arrived and she realized she didn't yet want to marry T'aj. Not when he was nothing but a weyrling with a silly green dragon.
T'aj had Impressed in Telgar weyr, so when Vitari said she wanted to give him some room to focus on weyrlinghood while she thought about their relationship, it made sense for her to go to Trelis; it was about as much space as she could possibly give him. To her surprise, she was promptly told that she should stand at the next hatching. While she originally intended to ignore the searchdragon - it wasn't like she'd asked to be searched - she found herself joining the other candidates on the sand when the humming started.
She stood, she now realizes, to spite T'aj. It was a bit of a whim, but part of her hoped to Impress to a queen to show him what he should have done. He should have gone out, Impressed a royal, and been done with it. Not spent over a turn bouncing from one hatching to the next, only to end up with a green. Vitari Impressed on her first hatching, as she'd somewhat hoped for, but found herself with a fighter, rather than a queen. While she questions the wisdom of making a life-changing decision to spite someone, she can't deny that she loves the little amethyst, as different from each other as they are.
Dragon/Wher
Name: Maysceth
Pronunciation: May-seth
Age: Born Spring T203
Type: Dragon
Rank: Amethyst
Size: 20 feet (4 at hatching)
Color Codes:
1c0a32
321359
465794
Appearance: Medium-sized, with neither too much nor too little muscle, Maysceth won't draw your attention with her body size. Her neck, however, is longer and thinner than you might normally see on a dragon, ending in a small, pointed head. Her legs, heavily muscles and oddly long, seem out of place when compared to her short, thick wings. She appears to be made more for walking on the ground than flying. She moves with surprising speed on the ground and has a natural grace when she walks, each step well-placed and steady. Her hide is a rich purple which darkens on her wings. Her neck and face are lighter, an almost silver shade of purple.
Personality: May's primary concern in life is fairness and seeing that justice is served. While she prefers talking and calming people down, she will jump into a conflict and join a side if she deems it necessary. If one side is outnumbered or overpowered, she will leap to their aid, regardless of her feelings on the matter. That's not to say she has no opinion on things, or that her feelings are easily cast aside. On the contrary, her beliefs run deep, and it pains her to help defeat a cause or argument that she believes is correct. Everyone deserves a fair chance, though; even if she curls up in misery once she's home, right now she will fight to even the odds, even if the side with the advantage is the side she would have joined.
Maysceth is ever aware of her own presence, and how a large dragon may be intimidating to a puny human. Likewise, she realizes that she is not the largest dragon on Pern and is at a physical disadvantage when it comes to many other dragons. In her attempts to even the odds, she presents an entirely different portrait to different people, depending on their size and status. A child will receive a soft-spoken Maysceth laying down with her head near the ground, while a gold or bronze is going to find their conversation partner sitting or standing as tall as she can, head lifted high and proud with her wings held slightly spread.
Sometimes, as Vitari points out to her so often, life simply isn't fair. In these instances, when there is no one to side against and no fight to win, Maysceth may retreat to her room and curl up, choosing to hide rather than facing injustice. During these burned out periods, she has a predictable cycle of thoughts. First, she gets depressed and angry, then somewhat jaded - everything is unfair so there is no point to trying to make anything better. Vitari's influence often turns this cynicism into unfair action, pushing Maysceth to be somewhat manipulative. This lasts a very short time and snaps the amethyst back to normal when she realizes how horrible it is to be unfair, and she decides to fight for fairness, after all.
Mind-Voice (If applicable):
That doesn't seem fair at all, Mine...
Maysceth's voice is high-pitched and sounds somewhat immature, like a child. Don't dismiss her for that, however; listen closer and you'll hear strength and a sense of wisdom in her words, as well.
