Mine...don't worry. They said you'd be fine. They said you just needed to not stress.
I know, but how can I not. Avirith....what happens if he finds out that I was told to watch him, I know I never did it but still, and I broke off from the Rebellion. Avi...
The Healer gave Alyara a disapproving look as her fingers tightened around the younger girls wrist. "Calm down. Honestly like I said the baby is fine just drink that tea." Miyaka narrowed her eyes bored already with the events of today. The rider's stress had caused her body to reconsider what it was doing and consequently the child she had been carrying had almost been lost, good thing that they had healers around though. Thread hadn't come into Trelis' small area as of late which meant more personal for other things...and even more boring work for Miyaka.
"Can I go back yet?" Ara's concerned voice only irritated the white haired apprentice more and she shook her head in response. "No, you should stay here for now. We need to keep an eye on you." Nodding slightly the greenrider shivered and held her Gold flit a little closer to her, Aries eying Miyaka carefully.
Want me to call him?
The Dragoness crooned softly from where she was curled up outside the infirmary on the ledge for injured dragons, keeping a wounded Brown company as well as Hers. Please... Avirith searched for Kayath's mind, seeking her form on the sands. Can you send Yours now? She can see people finally...I think. Not that the healer would be too happy about the interruptions.

Any word yet? J’dol asked Kayath for what must have been the hundredth time. When Kayath answered him with an annoyed rejection he sighed and leaned back in his chair. He had, of course, been quite panicked when he first learned Ara had landed herself in the infirmary, mostly because he didn’t quite know the reason behind it. The healers had forced him away every time he had tried to visit and finally he had given up, hiding away in his weyr and trying to distract himself with paperwork.
It had been stressful since finding out his lover-turned-weyrmate was carrying his child, and it had taken a lot of drinking to be at all comfortable with the idea. Well, he still wasn’t comfortable as far as he could tell, but he had gotten better over time. Talking to Sevrin had been helpful, in a weird way. The man had cleared some things up and calmed J’dol’s mind quite a bit. He really should do something for the ex-rider one of these day – repay him for the help.
Avirith has contacted me. She has asked for you. Kayath’s voice held a note of relief, not because she particularly cared for Alyara, but because it meant Hers would stop his incessant pestering. Now go, and leave me alone! J’dol didn’t need to be told price. He had been out of the weyr the moment she said Avirith, practically sprinting down to the infirmary, though he slowed as he approached. Peeking around the corner, he looked about for the one angry healer that liked to swat at him, but it seemed that fellow was nowhere to be seen. Ara, however, was just over there!
“Ara!” He called from the doorway, before quickly making his way to her bed and sitting on the edge. “You’re okay?”

Miyaka scowled even more, a hand placing itself on her hip as she glared at the Weyrlord. "Ahem! You shouldnt be making so much noise you dimglow! Honestly you're in an infirmary for Faranth's sake, some people are sick in here." Her eyes narrowed even more as Ara put a hand on the petite girl's shoulder, and Miyaka shrugged it off brusquely.
"I'll be back soon, don't leave that bed." Her voice was stern as she pushed the warm cup of tea into the rider's hand. "And make her drink that." She eyed J'dol carefully before letting the cup she was giving him go, walking away with a shrug and turning the corner, a shock of white hair blinking away followed by a taller shadow that no doubt was that other candidate she always hung around.
Ara sighed and shook her head, her eyes closing slightly. She had a headache. Her hand moved quietly from her Firelizard on her lap to the junction between her head and neck, rubbing at the sore muscles. "I uh...apparently stress too much....it's not good for the baby, that's supposed to make me feel better though." Her eyes opened again, seeing Aries and Stella wrapped around each other on her lap first before anything else.
They normally hated each other but today they were working together to protect Theirs. Bayi blew a huff of air at a nearby candle, and whacked a glow basket closed to dim the lights. His eyes hurt. This made it better, see he was helping too!
"I...." How was she supposed to act now? Was he disappointed that she hadn't lost it, was he relieved, did he even understand why she was here? Did he know the reasons behind her stress? She certainly hoped not. Sighing the rider shook her head again and curled up under the blanket.
"I almost lost it...." She didn't meet his eyes, she just stared at the Gold and Green in her lap, her hand resting on them carefully, gently. "I miss Inali and Pan too....and what about Inoria, is she okay? I hate this!"
She forced her eyes closed so that she could breath in a few calming breathes. Please, stop worrying so much Mine. Kayath's she's supposed to stay calm not get more stressed... Avirith warbled as she tried to catch a better glimpse of Hers from the little entrance there was from the room she was in and the ledge the dragon was on.

"I'm being quiet," J'dol shot back though he kept his voice down as requested. Besides, he was Weyrlord, he could do what he wanted. "Maybe they'd get better faster if they didn't have to whisper all the time." Really, the infirmary was usually such a dreary place. He gave a quick nod, letting Miyaka know that he would make sure Ara drank the tea. Health was the most important thing right now after all. He sighed and gave Ara a quick massage motion, wanting to know if she needed his help.
"You know you can talk to me about what's stressing you Ara," He replied quietly. Talking, talking was important, Sev had said so and he was going to do it! "I know I'm not always the most... cooperative, but I might be able to do something?" His brow furrowed as she mention the child and he felt a weird sort of turmoil in the pit of his stomach. What was it? Why did he have that weird feeling? Was it about the baby? Was he maybe.. happy she hadn't lost it? He shook his head, confused at his own feelings.
"ARa... I"m sure they're fine. Pan's too spunky to be anything but great and Inoria is a strong little girl." He couldn't say anything for Inali. He hadn't spent much time with her since Loraketh's... passing. But he did know she had moments of instability. Hopefully Inoria would keep her grounded... wherever they were. J'dol moved so he could wrap his arms around her, not sure how to comfort the greenrider. "Don't worry Ara, everything will turn out alright." He moved a hand to rest on her stomach, hoping the knowledge that things here, at least, were alright would help comfort her.

Nodding her head, Ara sighed. He was right she didn't need to worry so much. If anything Panille was probably living it up over there and adapting well, and as for Inoria and Inali...wherever they were as long as they were together they'd be fine. "I still miss them though. They're my best friends and Inoria is like a baby sister to me. I should check on Talian sometime soon, she probably is having a difficult time, I know T'rian is though he tries to hide it." Her eyes watered slightly before she blinked them hurriedly to get rid of the urge to cry.
Mother would not like what has become of our home. She would not like it at all. It is too dark, too dreary. No one dances anymore KayathSister. The green crooned softly, reaching out for her Sub-Queen sibling. They hadn't been clutch mates but that didn't mean that she didn't still recognize the relation, there were some things that just had to be remembered because there was nothing else to hang onto besides those small details. Ara caressed the dragon's mind, her body relaxing into J'dol's body at the same time.
"She's right....everything is so....different now. We need something to pick everyone up. A big dinner or a game of some kind for the Weyrbrats and Candidates. It's like shadows and sadness have clung to this place since Loraketh betweened. We have a sharding clutch on the sands, the Rebellion is staying in their own little neck of the woods and we have Summer fast approaching. We should be rejoicing, not holding our breaths." Not to mention though that there were rumors running around, and there had been things to happen within the Rebellion.
So many things she wanted to tell him. So very many. Could she? Would she? Her mouth opened slightly, the words on the tip of her tongue. I need to tell you something. I...I was originally told to come here to watch you and Iirla, but I never did. I loved you both too much to do such a thing, I broke off from the rebels. They know, they're not happy. However, the words never fell past her mind and she closed her mouth abruptly and shook her head. "I love you." That's all she could say.
Stella crooned, her pale head tilting slightly as she looked up at Hers. There shouldn't be sadness! Little Thing was alright, see, SEE?!? The green chirped and trilled, shuffling as it felt the movement again. Her eyes whirling brightly she nudged Aries who gave a quick hiss before feeling the faint movement too. It wasn't until both were chirping like a pair of Huntyres that Ara finally felt it too, a stronger little nudge. "It...I...I think it just kicked." Lips curved up into a tiny smile, laughter bubbling up from her chest as she moved her hand to J'dol's.

Perhaps you need to just look around better then, Avirith, Kayath replied lazily. She was happy and healthy, her eggs were safe and warm, and there were always the sounds of dragons in the sky. What more did their kind need? Even in HerOwn’s mind, the troubles of the Rebellion were a lowly retreating memory and while he kept a constant vigil for activity from them, he was no longer feeling the tense stress he had in their more active days. Sure, there were rumors, things happening here and there, but nothing that seemed to serious.
“You, Ara, should forget they even exist. Relax, take some time to yourself. Leave the troubles of the Weyr to the ‘leaders.” This was the problem with her, the reason she was having such stress problems. She didn’t know how to sit back and just enjoy life for what it was and it was taking its toll on her body. If she kept up at this rate, he was sure there would be more problems with the baby and that was the last thing she needed.
“It… what…?” J’dol gave her a confused and slightly uneasy glance. End point was this entire baby thing freaked him out. The idea that the baby was moving about inside her sent chills down his spine. Well, at least it was distracting her from her worries and that was all the topazrider could hope for.

Ara wanted to laugh at his reaction at first, and then she realized he was being serious. Did he really know that little about the whole thing they were going through? He seemed almost...frightened, or perhaps even disgusted by the idea that something was growing inside of her. This was supposed to be good, and the greenrider's fast heartbeat was proof enough of that to her. "It. Moved." She spoke deliberately and slowly, an almost "you've got to be kidding me" tone to her voice.
"Dimglow Weyrwoman doesn't know anything does he?" Miyaka came back with a wet towel which she put behind Ara's neck to cool her off a bit, something the rider was thankful for though she hadn't realized she needed it until then. "Look, I'm only going to explain this once Mr. Twinkletoes, so pay attention. Mrs. Twinkletoes here is having a kid, which is half your fault. The kid starts off reeeaaaaallly small, but grows. Now, when it's first growing it's reeeaaally easy for it to get all upset and say 'I'm outta 'ere' you got me? That's what almost happened today, but we were lucky. Now, when it gets bigger, it starts to move a bit which is gooood, it means the sharding brat's alive."
Miyaka perked an eyebrow at J'dol as if asking for confirmation that he understood fully now what had just happened. Ara, who had been between laughing and blushing the entire time finally looked up at her weyrmate. "It really is a good thing...it means it's still healthy despite what just happened." Her hand was still hovering over his, wanting him to feel what it was she had felt, needing it almost. I just want him to understand that this is all real, it's not some dream he's going to wake up from.

“I know how babies work, healer.” He shot back, clearly annoyed that he was being treated like an idiot. He had been to his harper lessons as a child, he knew how babies were formed and how they grew. It didn’t mean he had to be comfortable with it, nor did it mean he had to know that the baby would be kicking already. It freaked him out, but there was nothing wrong with that; J’dol was a man, he didn’t need to be comfortable with it.
“When you’re done talking like a two turn old, would you be so kind as to bring us water?” He replied lazily, waving her off and not even letting her finish her speech. He rolled his eyes at Ara too. Seriously, why wasn’t he allowed to be unnerved by freaky babies doing freaky things in his woman’s belly? With a grumpy look on his face he put both his hands on Ara’s belly and leaned in close.
“Listen kid, you’re going to grow up and show that silly healer who’s boss. Got that? No one calls my kid a sharding brat.” Did he look like an idiot talking to his weyrmate’s belly? Probably, but they all seemed to think he was one anyways.

Miyaka snorted, her arms folding against her chest. "I technically don't have to do anything you say, however considering I feel like being nice just this once..." She left as quickly as she had come in, her white hair a shocking contrast to the drab walls. Alyara blinked once, twice, three times and then shook her head. "J'dol...please...try to be nice to the people....even when they're difficult." She was teasing, it was in her tone, but she still felt like she had to scold him a little bit.
When he bent a bit to talk to their child though, well Ara just simply stared with her eyes wide. Had he really just done that? Had he....he...he...I think we can conclude that he just talked to the egg Mine. Avirith's bluntness was thanked yet again for the millionth time. "J'dol.....mff....okay, tell me you felt that one. It heard you...I think it heard you." She laughed a little bit, her hand covering one of his as the baby nudged against it. "It's not something to be freaked out over, it's alive and it's doing well. It's a good thing, and it means it's strong."
Ara smiled softly when she talked. "W.......what do you....think it'll be like?" She spoke softly, hesitantly, worried that he would close up know that she tried to envision the child. "Do you think it'll be a boy? Aerinne is certain it's a girl...so is Sevrin." I think it'll be a pretty Green like me! "And apparently Avirith is under the impression that I'm carrying a dragon."

J’dol just rolled his eyes. He outranked the healer, whether she liked it or not. If he wanted to boss her around he certainly could. “You get what you give.” He replied curtly to Ara, annoyed that she was reprimanding him. He had been nice, considering some of the things he had wanted to say to the stuck up healer. He didn’t have much time to dwell on his annoyance, as suddenly there was a brief moment of pressure against his hand that could only be the baby kicking. He paled as she put a hand of his, keeping it there, and he could only handle it a moment longer before pulling away.
“It can be alive and well without freaking me out, can’t it?” He gave her stomach a look, as if it was the baby’s fault that he was so pathetic. He shook his hands, as if trying to erase the creepy feeling. He was happy to know the kid would be okay, beyond happy in fact, but it still freaked him out. It likely always would. “Doesn’t it hurt?” He put his hands on his knees awkwardly as she started talking about what it might be.
“Uh… I don’t know?” He mumbled, not sure what he was supposed to say. Was he supposed to say he wanted a strapping young lad? Or would that somehow offend her? Should he say girl, since everyone else thought it was a girl? As the father was he supposed to have a preference? “What… what does it matter if it’s healthy?” He finally asked, serious enough that he barely cracked a smile at Avirith’s misunderstanding.
