"Watching the clouds and daydreaming like a dimglow counts as doing nothing," Liam retorted, shaking his head. His friend took life at a slower pace, but somehow the two of them got along perfectly. It made for a good friendship. Liam sped things up, Cayin slowed things down.
Liam laughed. "That was the worst! My arms were sore for days, and the healers just told me to stop stealing pies if I wanted my arms to stop hurting! What kind of cure is that?!" He grinned, eyes shining. Having his best friend back was... fantastic.
Cayin poked him, and Liam shifted his position slightly. "No..." he murmured, voice still soft. "There's more than one way..." He was silent for a moment. "I missed you... like this." Placing his hand against his friend's shoulder, he gently brought their lips together in a kiss.

Cayin simply grinned in response. It wasn't the first time he had been called a dimglow, and he knew it wouldn't be the last. He took life at a slower pace than most people, and that was alright with him. He was smart enough to get by, simple as that.
"You didn't stop whining for months. The healers gave me numbweed." He had often gotten off lighter; after all, he was the dimglow that Liam dragged around everywhere. Of course, he had always shared his spoils, but it had still been a nice advantage. He supposed being looked down on wasn't always a bad thing; it had, perhaps, been the reason why he was never bothered by the insult.
"There is?" He asked, his eyes wide with curiosity as he waited for it to be explained. Of course, he hadn't for a moment expected to be kissed by his best friend, his MALE best friend. He remained where he was for a moment, too surprised to do much more than stare stupidly. Finally though he pulled away, a light red spreading across his cheeks.
"I've never kissed a man before," He said curiously, seemingly too distracted by the notion to think about just who had kissed him. Finally though, the thought seemed to catch up with him and his eyes widened. "I missed you too!" He grinned warmly. He had been with plenty of women before, and the thought to do anything like that with a man had never crossed his mind. That thought was in his mind now though and he glanced curiously between Liam's eyes and his lips, leaning closer curiously. "Two ways to miss someone... I've learned something new,"

When Cayin pulled away, Liam noted that his friend was blushing slightly, and could feel the own heat on his face that meant he himself was blushing rather furiously. He hadn't really meant to kiss Cayin... in fact, he hadn't meant to at all! It had just... happened.
Truth be told, Liam had never kissed anyone before, which only increased his blush when Cayin admitted that he had never kissed a man before. Shaking his head, he lowered his eyes. "I've never kissed... anyone... before..." He knew his friend was more social, and had an easier time making friends... but it gave him an odd, angry, jealous feeling to think of Cayin with someone else.
But Cayin was soon grinning, telling Liam that he had missed him, too. Liam was moderately startled when his friend watched him curiously, leaning closer, obviously curious. Liam's bright blue eyes widened, and he nodded slowly. "Two ways," he confirmed before slowly tilting forward to bring their lips together again.

"Never?" It was easy to forget how shy Liam could be around others. He was always so energetic and playful when they were together. Thinking back, he realized it wasn't much of a shock that Liam hadn't kissed anyone. It was almost weird for know he had done something before Liam had, he was usually too laid-back to do anything first.
"Oh no... I made your first kiss bad then didn't I?" His face fell, the guilt he was feeling was obvious in his expression and the droop of his shoulder. Then he felt lips on his again. Liam had taught him so much throughout their days together. Had the time finally come for him to repay the favor? His hand found its way to the back of Liam's neck and he tilted the short man's head back, deepening the kiss.

Liam avoided his friend's eyes. "Never." He had always known he didn't like women like... that... and had just never found a male he was interested in... or rather, a male that was interested in him? He wasn't quite sure. He suspected it was just because he was too shy around other people.
Around Cayin, however, he was never shy.
"No, no!" He blurted adamently. "You didn't make it bad! You never make anything bad! You always make things better!" But then suddenly they were kissing, really kissing, with Cayin's hand on the back of his neck, deepening the kiss.
Liam suddenly realized he had no idea what to do, but decided to go with gut reaction and instinct. He gently parted his lips while falling backwards, pulling Cayin down with him so the other male was situated on top of him. Was this how it was supposed to work? He wasn't sure, but it sure as heck felt good...

He was kissing a man, and not just any man, the man who had once been his best friend, and it felt good. To say he was interested in Liam wouldn't quite be correct. He had never thought of his friend quite like that, simply because he had never really considered men as an option. Well, he certainly was enjoying this. He grinned as Liam pulled him to the ground, a little surprised that someone as shy as he was could be this willing.
He broke the kiss, his eyes roaming over Liam. Had this been why he missed Liam so much? Was it that he liked the other man this way? He certainly found the man attractive, he realized as he looked him over. Well, perhaps he should really give it a shot. He loved Liam, but was it the same kind of love? He grinned happily,
"How was that for a first kiss?"

Liam had never considered the possibility that this was why he had missed Cayin with a constant ache that simply refused to go away. Was it because of these other feelings? These feelings that caused him to feel arousal, something he had never felt before? It was moderately confusing, but it felt... good, kissing him.
Cayin broke the kiss, and blue eyes met blue eyes. Liam's eyes were bright, almost overfilled with happiness. Cayin was grinning, and Liam felt his stomach flip in joy. Was this was what he had missed? Was this is? He missed Cayin because the other male was his best friend, obviously, but was this something else?
Liam looked up into his friend's bright blue eyes and smiled. "Very nice. Can we do it again?"

Cayin’s grin grew ten-fold with the knowledge that he had done well. He always liked getting approval of any kind, but somehow Liam’s words made his heart beat quicker. It was exhilarating. He leaned back in towards Liam, completely set to kiss him again and feel that wonderful warmth spread through him, however, Lehr had a different idea.
The white flit scurried down between them, pressing his head against Liam’s lips before chittering playfully and trying to drag Cayin over the food. The little white had gotten hungry and impatient. Instinctively, the glassmaker turned towards the food, forgetting his previous intentions. It was easy to distract him, it always had been, and his lack of focus was part of the reason so many relationships had ended. He simply ended up too distracted to make his partner feel loved, even though Cayin was in love with them.
“He’s such trouble sometimes,” Cayin spoke softly, fondly, of his little pet.

Liam grinned at Cayin's grin. Man, had he missed his friend! And apparently Cayin had missed him, too... in more than one way. The other male leaned in towards him, obviously going to hiss him again, but Liam was startled when Cayin's white firelizard's head was pressed against his lips before the flit dragged Cayin to the food.
The Candidate laughed and sat up, following Cayin's attention to the food. He picked up a meatroll and began eating, shifting himself so that he was tucked neatly next to Cayin, the other male's arm around him. He didn't mind that Cayin had gotten distracted. He knew his friend well enough to know that it was going to happen. Besides, now that Cayin was back in the Weyr for good, they would have plenty of time for kissing... and maybe more?
"Don't worry about it," Liam replied, starting on a bubbly pie. "I'm the same way about Thunder and Cavallo. They just happen to be a lot bigger." He laughed, offering a piece of pie to the little flit.

Cayin's thoughts were significantly more innocent then his friend's. His thoughts had turned to food, candidacy, and being roommates. He was thinking of all the fun they would have over the next while, catching up and learning all about eachother all over again. He was so excited about it he couldn't stop grinning like an idiot. He instinctively wrapped an arm around Liam as the man pressed against him, grabbing up another meatroll and practically moaning in happiness at the flavor. He could eat these meatrolls all day!
"You'd be surprised how much trouble Lehr manages to get me into. it was almost like having you around again," He chuckled as the white reached up to take the piece of pie, sniffing it curiously before scarfing it down and sniffing about for another delicious morsel. "What are you doing with Thunder while we're in the barracks. Do they allow canines in the rooms? It would be so cool to have a guard dog. It would be so useful for making sure we were never distrubed huh?"

Liam couldn't help but notice how his friend kept grinning. He was extremely happy that Cayin's arm wrapped around him, and so he snuggled in closer. Liam was so glad his friend was back... and maybe they were more than friends? He certainly hoped it would turn out that way. His thoughts strayed as he began to eat, however.
Liam laughed as Lehr took the morsel and then sniffed around for more. The Candidate offered him another bite. "I've had Thunder in the barracks with me thus far," he said in response. At Cayin's next words, however, he found himself blushing. "N-never disturbed d-doing w-w-what?" He stuttered, blue eyes wide. With Cayin, it was always hard to tell. His friend could easily be talking of innocent things... or not. Liam was never sure. Better to be on the safe side and ask, right?

"I guess they don't have anywhere else to keep pets anyways," He replied, scarfing down another meatroll. He supposed the weyrfolk wouldn't want to have to take care of a bunch of pets for the candidates all day, especially when it came to the larger canines. He couldn't help but think Thunder would make an excellent pillow. At the sudden stuttering from Liam, Cayin gave him a funny look. He had no idea what had caught his friend so off guard and he had to take a moment to think back.
"Well, sleeping silly! And maybe studying, and cleaning?" He was, as always, the epitome of innocence. Although, for the briefest of moments, his eyes narrowed and he leaned back, practically whispering as he spoke, "And anything else you'd like to do." The moment was brief, and before either boy could so much as take a breath, Cayin was grinning like a fool again. "It'll be fun, don't you think?
