B'den smiled, just a bit abashed, at the way she said he seemed older. He supposed it wasn't surprising; he'd Impressed Kohenkyoth after he'd turned twenty-one, and by then he'd already earned journeyman status and was an adult in pretty much every way. Kohenkyoth had always been so serious and driven, even as a hatchling, that he could easily see people considering her older than her years as well. "I'm not really sure if it is possible. It would certainly make more sense to start the newly-graduated weyrlings at the bottom ranks and let us get experience before moving up, but with the way things are now, who knows? The Rebellion is still pretty new and we're all still settling in when it comes to the wings, especially with Threadfall and raids to occupy our time."
Jallis brought up the concept of gathering food for the rebels, and that was the first time B'den felt any hint of uneasiness in the conversation. "Well, there are sometimes raids organized on nearby settlements when our supplies get too low," he admitted. He disliked the necessity of it himself, but when it was a choice between raiding established Holds or letting his dragon starve, it wasn't much of a choice. "But we also get some help from Rindell village, and some other small settlements scattered throughout the islands, since we protect them from Threadfall as well. We try to rely on that, or hunting or trading for ourselves, when we can."
