In the mind of one little blue flit, gathers were the most exciting things in all of Pern. The sights, the sounds, the delicious food at every corner! Spazz wheeled and spiraled through the myriad of stalls, landing first on one showing off a plethora of baked goods before quickly hopping over to the next. No stall was visited for very long; the flashy blue just couldn’t keep his attention in one place long enough.
Something shiny caught his attention and he was airborn again, filling the sky with twists and twirls of all kinds before finally landing on a rocky outcropping over looking the gather. Whatever he had seen was gone it seemed; no matter, there were so many other wonderful things around to explore. Even while taking a break on the rock, Spazz didn’t settle for a moment. With each breath his tail swished back and forth and his eyes were constantly darting around, looking for the next great source of entertainment or company. A flash of green caught his attention and he warbled excitedly as another fire lizard drew near.

Nimae twittered a song of gleeful cries, diving at Spazz playfully. Her lithe, quick body wove around him, in and out, up, down, fast as you blink an eye. Then down she would fall like a rock or a comet, then before you could do a thing, up like a rocket she flew. It was like a dance, the flurry of wings, tail and paws in the sky. The sky was a dreamy blue, and it contrasted beautifully with Nimae's emerald hide. The visions the green flit sent to Spazz were of bright happy colors and of mischevious emotions. The final picture of of stealing food from a stand. You see, Nimae loves to cause trouble, and like all fire lizards, her belly is never full. And with a friendly nip at Spazz's wing, she encouraged the male to follow her.

Spazz jumped up at the sound of singing and jumped aside in time to see a green flit, though she seemed to be just as energetic as he was! He enjoyed their impromptu game, diving and twisting around eachother in the air as if they had practiced the maneuvers a thousand times. Spazz chirped and whistled happily with each spin, praising this strange female for her lithe acrobatics. Finally stopping for a breather, Spazz hovered in the air, cocking his head to the side at the images he had been sent. The food stand? Oh! It looked familiar!
Chittering happily, Spazz followed Nimae to the stand, though where she wanted to cause trouble, Spazz just wanted to play. There was another flit around here somewhere, he knew it! Chirping and cheeping as he scuttled about, he tried to find his other friend.

Excited from the brisk little flight, Nimae let herself glide gracefully, and land on the banner of the stand. Her head was held upright, still, as she felt the presence of another fire lizard in the area. Her eyes were whirling, blues and greens, like a blue-green sea or rare bright stones. She twittled a questioning noise, head cocking, tail twitching. Where was this other flit? With a shrug-like gesture, she set her sights on the delicacies on the table. Then quick and skillfully, she swooped down, stealing a piece of some kind of seasoned meat, most likely wherry. She returned to her post on the banner and tore a bite of the meat off. Happily, she chomped the salty meat. Then suddenly, after her second bite was swallowed, she shrieked in surprise and pain. Her happy colored eyes become a mixture of red and black and her snack fell to the ground. Spicy! Spicy! Hot! Hot! Her mind screamed, pictures of fire then the meat pounded into Spazz's mind. She screamed with rage at the man who owned the stand, and hissed and spit at the meat, as if it was the meat's fault for her pain.

While their human was wandering through the gather dancing and talking to people, two flitters were enjoying the gather in their way. Banshee and Barus had long since left Hirion behind and flew to explore the gather on their own.
The two fire lizards darted back and forth, meeting up with other flits occasionally and even zipping around the outskirts of the gather where the dragons were relaxing. After one too many bossy scoldings from Barus, however, the dragons finally began to lose patience. After being warned away by a short snap, Banshee wisely herded the brown flit away from the dragons and back towards the gather proper.
Barus hummed hungrily as they flew over the food stalls. He settled down on a nearby stall, tucked away out of sight, and before long, the green Banshee joined him, staring disapprovingly at the brown. On the other hand, she was hungry as well, so she didn't make much of an effort to stop his thieving intentions.
A scream of rage did that well enough, as a different green flit seemed to have the same idea in mind and grabbed a piece of spicy meat by mistake. The two flits immediately flew over to the green and her blue companion. Banshee crooned comfortingly at the other green and greeted the blue with a welcoming chirp, while Barus took the commotion as an opportunity to steal a bit of food himself. He had better luck--while the meat was heavily flavored, it was not nearly as spicy, and he regarded the new fire lizards with wariness as he ate.

Spazz warbled in amusement at his new friend’s antics. What a silly one she was, not to know the difference between the yummy food and the painful dishes. Mind you, Spazz had learned the hard way by stealing off of his human’s plate and he had been scolded enough times for stealing food… so despite how rambunctious and energetic Spazz was, he didn’t go too near the food. He did, however, playfully tackle Nimae, sending her pictures of firelizards chasing eachother through the sky.
Perhaps that would get her mind off the spicy meat? Well, whether it would or not, Spazz was airborne was more, and tearing through the sky at high speed.

Nimae spit again at the man. What evil had they put into that meat? Her mouth and nose still felt as though they were sizzling, and she hissed. But the visions Spazz sent pleased her, and she made a rough purring sound. She crouched to spring, but then noticed the two new fire lizards. With renewed energy, she sprang from her post, circling the brown and green. She, however, was no where near as excited as she had been. Again she sang with chirps and twittles of excitment. But these males were not as interesting as her friend, and she made a large circle back toward Spazz. Putting on a burst of speed, she shot past him, then curved around and spun fast and easily as they had before. Their flight was so fun, so free, and the best of all was that their amounts of excitment and energy seemed to be matched. Her eyes now whirled with extraordinary shades of blue and green and Nimae couldn't have been happier.

Oh! More friends! Spazz whirled about, following Nimae as the green circled about the newcomers. Spazz was quick to send happy, excited feelings to them as he began his own dizzying circles around them. He landed, watching Barus with curiosity to see if he too had picked poorly, but it seemed he hadn’t and Spazz was quick to grow bored of observing.
Play? Though he didn’t use spoken word, the feelings of fun and the images of tag he sent to Banshee and Barus would likely get the point across. After all, what fun was a gather if one didn’t take the opportunity to fly about?
His wings flapped excitedly, though he stayed on the ground while he tried to coax the two in the air with him. Taking off he did a series of loops in the air, waiting for the game to start in earnest.

The flits circled around the two of them and Banshee fluttered her wings, anxious to join them. Barus, on the other hand, growled at the other male at first, possessive of his food, but Banshee smacked him disapprovingly with her tail, telling him to behave. It wasn't as if the other flits were particularly interested in his food, so he settled down and gobbled up the last of it. Only then did the brown spring into the air after the others.
Banshee had already leapt into the air, following the other fire lizards. She circled in the air as they did until Barus launched after them, and when Spazz invited them to play, she eagerly chased after him, twisting in the air.
Barus was a bit slower, but more willing to play now that he had a full belly. He was reluctant to stick too close to Banshee, small as she was, for fear of making her angry, so he focused his attention on Nimae. He did a loop in the air and glided beside her, waiting to see what she would do.

Nimae chirped a greeting to the brown that began a flight beside her, tilting her wings at a slight angle to match his pace. Her eyes were glowing a rainbow of happy colors, emotions of great pleasure swirling in her gaze. Excitedly, she throttled high, pumping her paper thin wings to gain height. The green screamed her joy at the flits below her, enjoying the pure splender of this flight. She wove in between the blue, the the brown, as if begging them for a game. Circling sharply backwards, she nipped at their tails and wingtips, her excitment increasing. This was fun! Her mind pressed pictures of them chasing and dancing and playing in the air, including the adreniline her felt at this moment. This was... breathtaking! Chattering high pitched cries of play, she dove at the two males again, not as intent on the female flit who tagged along. As she would rise in the furture, and as that day came closer, males were much more in her sights. Twittering loudly, she continued her playful attempts, harrassing the blue and brown constantly.

Spazz was always excited to play. He had endless energy to burn and never enough hours in the day to use it all. With a playful squeak he dove away from Banshee, taunting her and teasing her to hurry up and catch him. He even took a few moments to spin past Barus, trying to hurry the larger flit. The more the merrier after all. When the brown seemed to be more intent on Nimae then him, Spazz simply gave a sharp swerve to dive past Banshee once more.
He chirped in confusion as Nimae drew towards him and nipped at his tail. It was his tail! With an acrobatic swerve the blue changed course to nip back at Nimae’s tail as he chased her through the sky. Spazz had always had a hard time staying focused on one thing however, and before long was dipping back towards the other two once more.

Nimae chittered at Spazz, edging him on again. She took turns chasing the blue then the brown, and she would dip away to squeak at the other green. Her belly was growling, but she was almost afriad to eat. The yummy scents of food were giving this little green no choice, and she swooped down to try again. Her wings landed neatly at her sides as she explored a stand with meat filled pasteries and rolls. Long strips of dried fish hung from the banner, and the green's eyes whirled with awe. Carefully, she snatched s creasent shaped roll, and was pleased to find a bland neath paste inside. Before being shooed away by the cook, Nimae stole a strip of fish, and hobbled it up in flight. Now her belly was full, and she was ready to play. She again sang a hum-like note that vibrated in the air. It was a pleasing, happy pitch for a flit.

As the green chirped a greeting at him, Barus flew closer to her and followed her flight, pleased that someone was paying so much attention to him, even if it was shared with a blue. They took turns chasing each other through the air as they played, and Barus chittered happily. Once she broke off to get something to eat, he left her alone and focused on the blue, trying his best to outpace him.
Banshee was happy enough to let the other green ignore her; she chased after Spazz, instead, chirping as Nimae bit at his tail, and crooned to the blue before taking off again, daring the other flits to keep up with her.

Nimae clicked her teeth together angrily, her tail twitching with annoyance. Her eyes changed from greenish blue, to dragon fire orange. Her voice raised to a high chatter as she dove at the other green, shrieking scoldings. Her teeth came a threatening distance from the other flits wings, fangs snapping with sharp sounds. Her flight was a flurry of furious motions, wings beating rapidly and her air dance challenging. What business did this flit have with her friend? Continuing her upset chitter, Nimae's flight grew increasingly fast, as she wheeled around this green. She was the dominant female, green queen, and a flit not to be messed with! She would show this green who was boss!

Oh decisions were hard, especially when they needed to be made on the fly. On the one hand - err claw - there was the fiesty Nimae, on the other hand, the playful Banshee. Which should he follow first? The decision was made rather easily as Nimae dropped off to steal another morsel of food and, happy to be free of the responsibility of choosing, Spazz happily rose up after Banshee.
He seemed to almost squeak in delight as he tried to keep up with the quick female while beating the brown. He knew he was faster, his speed was his strength, but as far as stamina went, there was no doubt the brown would beat him in a fair race. Luckily, this was just a game, so Spazz chirped a playful challenge at Barus as they continued to fly.
His happy chirps changed to confusion as Nimae screeched. He didn't know what was wrong! She had invited these friends to play too, hadn't she? Squawking in worry, he dove out of the way as the angry green tried to outdo Banshee. Spazz crooned, trying to get her to calm down.
