Kayath was, deep down, a vain little princess in the end. She was whining and complaining wordlessly as she thrashed about in the water, being completely unladylike in her breakdown. Snorting to get some water out of her nose, she finally paused as she noticed Stripe drawing closer. She stared at him for a moment before finally settling into the water, watching as he gently attempted to clean her off. Though she only had a dragon's memory and her rider's memories to go off of, she could never remember a time any dragon had done something like that for her, not even her first mate.
I... To have seen me like that, how shameful! She grumbled, the whirling of her eyes not slowing, though now it was greens and blues beginning to take over. The little dragon was being so sweet and kind in a way that Kayath wasn't used to and it stumped her; only J'dol had ever done this, and he was just sitting back laughing. Thank you, sweetheart. She shuffled, not at all sure how to actually react to it. She reached down to nuzzle against him again.
J'dol had heard Stripe's words through his bond with Kayath, and it was a good thing Kyp decided to throw himself at him to cover his mouth, because J'dol was almost losing it. He couldn't remember the last time his princess had been so close to speechless. He shook against Kyp, trying to catch his breath until finally he seemed to be partway under control.
He opened his eyes and looked at Kyp, taking a deep breath as his eyes sparkled playfully. He threw his arms around the weyrling's waist and without further warning threw himself down into the deeper water, trying to drag K'r with him.

She couldn’t have done anything else to make him nearly fall over. A little squeak escaped the dragonet as he nuzzled back, eyes whirling in his embarrassment and giddy behavior. Unable to articulate anything past a rather goofy sounding little trill he waddled into the water to submerge himself completely. Since he was not full grown or even close he did quite a good interpretation of a water hunter, using his tail and wings, tucked along his body, to swim through the water aiming for feet. J’dols feet in particular.
“Don’t yer dare laugh!” Kyprioth crowed at his friend-and got a mouth full of water for his troubles. Hacking up what had to have been a good measure of the lake he found himself trying to push away from the other, bursting into laughter as he hit the fresh air once more. “Lucky I can swim!” He managed to splutter out sending a wave of water towards the other man. Just before he caught a glint of something moving under the water.
He tried to hide his smile as he swam back to the shallow water, grabbing the oil and rags, which thankfully had not tipped open. “Gorgeous, would yer like me ter oil yor itchy spots since yors is bein' ravver silly?” He beamed at Kayath hoping she’d take a massage with his rather skilled hands as an apology.
Since he hoped the man was distracted, Stripe wiggled over to J’dol just lightly drawing his teeth along his calf. Not near hard enough to even leave a scratch, just enough he hoped to scare him into thinking something big was in the water, something that wanted to eat him.

J'dol couldn't help but laugh once he broke the surface again, throwing his arms up to block his face from Kyp's splashing. He threw out an arm to splash back, only to yelp in surprise as his feet were swept out from under him. It took him a moment to gain his foot again and he surfaced again, coughing up his own share of the water.
"Stripe!" He coughed out, reaching out to shove back playfully. He doubted he would be able to even move the young dragon, but it was all in the name of fun anyways. He felt annoyance rolling off Kayath and glanced back to see Kyp attempting to mend his friendship with the dragoness. Kayath glowered at K'r, making him know of her annoyance, her feelings of betrayal. Pastenutth, I am not happy with yours. She turned away from Kyp and dropped her rump to the ground in the ultimate shun.
"Ohhh she's not happy at all," J'dol chuckled as he called to Kyp. "Tell her she's the greatest queen in all of Pern and she might come around, if not I suggest promising her a pretty rock. She's rather fond of the ones from the Sunstone caves." He didn't know if it would work, since Kayath could hear him yelling, but it was worth a shot. He was about to add something more, when the feeling of teeth against his leg made him yelp and dive forward, scrambling for the shallower water.
"Shards! What in Pern was that!?" He couldn't recall ever hearing of anything in the water, but hey, he'd rather not take a chance. Feeling more tired than he should, he flopped on his back in the shallower area, the water barely more than a few centimeters deep in that section. "You don't like it when I flirt, you don't like it when I'm silly... what do you want Kyp? An old grumpy rider to come harass you about getting to lessons on time or something?"

Ouch, that hurt. Kyprioth winced visibly. He knew that it was silly after all, it was a dragon not, well J’dol, or someone else, you know someone with two legs and not four. It still hurt though. The look on his face was like he was punched in the stomach as he slowly dropped his hand not quite sure what to do with himself. Since he was being out right shunned he shuffled back to the bank of water, shoulders hunched and head hanging, the perfect image of dejected crush.
“But she is the most beautiful queen in all of Pern, I shouldn't 'ave ter say that, just 'ave a look at 'er! Oi!’ He sighed making his way over to the other rider, just as Stripes head lifted out of the water, just enough to make his eyes and nose visible like an alligator hunting.
Mine is truly sad, you know-and J’dolRider, I will eat something else if you do not come and get this itchy spot for me He stayed in the water though looking quite like the alligator he was trying to mimic, he even managed to wiggle his tail to just keep his spines up and nothing else.
Kyprioth couldn’t help but smile at his dragons antics, kindly, silently reminding him that there were no such things as water-dragons (even if he wanted there to be) as he stepped over to the other rider. He sat down tugging off his now wet shirt and threw it uselessly to the side.
“J'dol..I like it wen yor bein' yer, put the mockers on tryin' ter make up ter me or I'll oil yor 'ide next.” He held the rag threateningly.

J'dol couldn't help but feel sorry for Kyp; the man just looked so dejected! It was heart-breaking, or at least it would have been if J'dol hadn't dealt with his dragon's silent treatments before. He knew how they worked, knew how crushing they could be, and knew that Kayath would get over it eventually. Perhaps he would give another shot at helping.
"Geez, okay there Bronzebutt, let's not get too nippy! I have need of my body parts you know." He huffed, eying the rather intimidating way that Stripe was swimming. That dragon was going to be trouble one day... "Let me help your rider and then I'm all yours. Well, you'll have to come into the shallower waters if you want me to get that itch."
He glanced back as Kyp got closer and, with a smirk, wolf-whistled as Kyp took his shirt off. He bit his lip, trying not to look too devilish as he eyed the rag the weyrling was using to threaten him. With a playful wiggle, he scootched closer to Kyp. Leaning into the other man, J'dol kept his voice low.
"Out of curiosity, what part of you running your hands all over my body is the threat? Threats aren't supposed to be something we would both enjoy, silly." With a quick but gentle nip to Kyp's ear, J'dol attempted to pluck the rag from his hand and motion for Stripe to hurry up. Then it was time to deal with Kayath.
"Princess, how can you be mad at our favourite cutie? And after he went through all that effort for the latest beauty techniques! Why, look at the spot he touched! It's so shiny it puts mirrors to shame." He winked at Kyp, well aware that it was Stripe's efforts and not the mud that made her shiny. Either way, he hoped his plan would work. Kayath turned her gaze on the humans, still clearly unhappy, but after a moment she looked back to her leg. It is shiny, isn't it? She purred. It wasn't quite forgiveness, but at least she was speaking so Kyp could hear again.

Well, damn. He realized that his little threat was rather useless the moment that the man told him such, and with an awkward little squirm and a yelp he tried to tug the rag back-to late. It was gone, leaving him pouting as he watched HIS dragon saunter over to the other man and present himself for scratchy times. Since his own dragon was being a traitor, just as bad as his body was and his mind, he got to his feet shuffling slowly over to Kayath to peer up at his favorite lady with a sad, sad little look. Before he decided to lay it on rather thick in hopes of getting her attention back, he peered over his shoulder where Stripe was pressing up against J’dols side with the obvious, silent demand of being scratched and oiled. Now, not later. Now.
“Dont 'ave ter rub it in that im not good at this freatenin' fin', right, yer know.” His threats would remain to be rather lack until he got used to this entire thing, if he ever did. Since he couldn’t figure out when that would be, or if that would ever happen, he turned wide eyes on the dragon once more. Such a look had won him quite a few hugs and melted hearts, from humans. He never tried his puppy eyes on a dragon before.
“Kayath, right, beautiful. It's because of yer I wont be able ter even stare at anuvver lady wivout wonderin' where yor wotcher doin'. Yor beautiful and I would be 'onored and 'umbled if yer would let me 'elp oil yer since Stripe is cheatin' on me.” He spoke quietly, voice pitched just right. He was talking like this to a creature that could easily squish him without a thought-and yet oddly enough he meant every word. Perhaps, the part of him not concentrating on getting back on her good side, being with men wasn’t all that bad if he had such an odd out of place crush on a dragon like he did.

J'dol just chuckled, backing away from K'r to keep the rag out of reach. J'dol was the type of man who was hard to truly threaten, physical threats were generally chnged to be good things, and he wasn't really bothered by much, unless his family was dragged into the threat. Of course, the threat to stop physical contact was usually the way to go with him, and he didn't doubt Kyp would one day catch on to that. Giving a little wiggle of his behind, he gave his attention to Stripe as the demand was given.
"Alright alright, hold your runners there bud, let me get the rag wet at least," He joked, dipping the rag into the water before beginning to scrub the residual mud off of him. It was weird, cleaning a small dragonet again; he certainly missed those days... so much less hide to clean. He ignored Kayath's mental monologue about how unloved she was.
"Oi Stripe, you'll have to tell me where you itch," He ran the rag over the bronze to clean off sections of him, then used a bit more pressure in a 'dragon massage', hoping to help relax the dragon's muscles a bit. He was still small enough for J'dol to do so, anyways. Kayath had long since outgrown a massageable size.
J'dol.. I think K'r is broken... he is looking at me funny. Raising an eyebrow, J'dol looked over to see the puppy dog eyes, snorted in amusement and turned back to Stripe, fully intending to do a good job on washing him.
"Your rider is a strange one Stripe," He commented before settling on a tune in his head and beginning to hum. He kept an eye on Kyp through Kayath of course, but he may as well keep himself entertained while the weyrling attempted to woo his dragon back to friendship. Kayath watched Kyp, initially with concern and then witha combination of happiness and annoyance. She was still mad about the mud, but how could she deny such an obvious suck up!
Snorting, she stood, turned to face K'r, and reached out with a front paw to pick him up. A few steps later and she released her grip to plop him into the mud, snorting again before returning to the water. K'r, sweetheart, do clean yourself off before you touch me and I will consider us even.

Oooooh.
He loved K’r, of course he did, K’r was his bonded. But, this man had magic hands. He shivered under the touch wings spreading out a bit to get the really itchy places as he stood as still as could be. When the rag was dragged over a particularly sensitive spot he bumped himself against the mans hand, all but begging, silently, for more scratchies.
You can keep this one Mine, he’s very good at this And since he was speaking to J’dol as well, a rather spluttered noise of complaint came from Kyprioth-but the young man said nothing else. Inwardly, deep, deep down, okay not that deep, he was a bit jealous that Stripe loved J’dols oiling so much. What was he good for then?
“Hey I-“ was all he got out before he found himself carried (a rather novel feeling) and then dumped like so much trash. Since the landing was soft, thanks to the mud, he was more stunned than anything else. A grin slowly spread over his face though as he wiggled into the mud, making sure to coat himself good.
“Mud makes for soft smooff skin after yer wereh it off! Yer just oiled me Kayaff! Oi! I wont touch yer wiv dirty 'ands, one second.” He slipped into the water, far enough away from the topaz to not accidentally muddy her water either. Scrubbing himself well with an extra rag and some soap root he only stood up, dripping, pants clinging to his body, when he was sure not a spec of the mud was on him.
He finally grabbed the oil admiring the play of dragon muscles under the front limb he was buffing. “Beautiful.” He said to no one in particular.
Stripe seemed more amused then put off that his rider was oiling the wrong dragon, and spoke only to J’dol.
I suppose it is good practice for when I am bigger, though he better come back to me

J'dol grinned and shot a wink in Kyp's direction as he continued rubbing, trying to watch the dragon's tiny movements to know where to rub. He had learned the trick to massaging a young dragon during his own weyrlinghood, during the time Kayath had gone into training overload to make sure she was the best of the best. Changing his knowledge of human massage to work for a dragon hadn't been too much of a challenge. "If you like that, just wait until I add in the oil." J'dol grinned, "Let me know if you want a massage too Kyp!" Pausing to watch what Kayath was up to, J'dol let out a short laugh. Shaking his head, he motioned for Stripe to get out of the water so he could dry the bronze off and start using the oil. How come you don't offer me a massage, stupid rider?
"You're too big Kay! May hands may be magic but they just aren't big enough for you to feel, love." He called back, bending over to grab fresh rags and a pot of oil before returning to massaging Stripe, his eyes following the muscles as he worked. Secretly, he was taking the opportunity to check out the dragonet's health, not that he doubted Kyp's abilities, it was just a habit. He looked up again as Kyp reemerged from the water and couldn't stop himself from giving a loud wolf whistle. Clingy wet pants... yum.
Kayath rumbled happily as K'r did as she 'asked', more than happy to move to dry land to allow him to oil her, though she was well aware that the entire oiling process likely wouldn't be completed. She knew she was a big dragon; before the arrival of the two new golds, she had been the largest dragon in Trelis, above and beyond even their late Gold; something she had been immensely proud of. Now though, it meant she had a lot of hide that needed oiling. I think oil will suit me just fine. I doubt Mine wants to go through the effort of making me dirty before cleaning me off. She reached down to press a quick nuzzle against Kyp's side.
"Don't you worry about that bronzebutt. You know he loves you most." J'dol spoke back quietly, leaning into Stripe to make sure his voice wouldn't be heard by anyone else (as well as effectively coating himself in oil). "Besides, I'm afraid I can get very jealous when my princess is involved." Speaking of which, he paused again and shouted back at Kyp. "Oi, looks like you're pretty good at that. Is the offer to oil MY hide still open, cutie?"

Stripe was purring in pleasure at this point, much to his shame. If asked though he would say the noises he was making was just a growl, nothing more. It just felt so good and he arched into the touches getting out of the water to get good and dry so he could be oiled. He sent a quick mental hug to his rider though, telling him without words that while yes, this felt fabulous, he was still better. It was just nice, and Kyprioth had never given him a massage before!
I like this, I think he can keep you. I approve whole heartedly If a dragon could have giggled-he would have. As it were he had far to much pride to let such a sound escape him anyway.
“Oi!-“ He blushed, shifted and added in a half mumble, “tha’ would be nice,” before continuing once again to clean the topaz beauty in front of him.
Since Kayath was very large indeed, such a nuzzle, even gentle, nearly bowled him over. Laughing he carefully wrapped his arms around her head giving her a kiss on the nose before he began to oil the most sensitive parts of a dragon. The skin around her nostrils, eyes and ‘ears’. He knew from reading that sand and other things could get stuck there and cause a lot of irritation. And if done properly, and he hoped he was doing it properly-it felt wonderful.
He was glad he had a dragon to hide beside, one quick look at the others oiled body made him hastily avert his gaze, bright red as he tried to keep his mind on his task at hand-and not on the rider.
“I'll 'old yer ter the massage, and then we can talk about it. Maybe, I don't know. Kayaff could yer bent yor head just a smidgen there, isit?Thank yer. How am I doin'?

"Hear that babe? Stripe says you can keep me!" He couldn't help it, he wanted to see Kyp's red face again, it was just too much fun to watch him sputter around in embarassment. Then on a lower note, he added to the bronze, "Thanks for the show of support Stripey." He moved on to another part of the bronze to continue his massage, quite enjoying the feeling of muscles beneath his fingers. "Perhaps this is my life calling; dragonet massage. Certainly more fun than my current job." He gave a dramatic sigh.
Kayath rumbled at the kiss, Kyp's little mud thing almost forgotten in her happiness. She watched as best as she could, though as the weyrling began working on the area near her eyes she had to close them. A few moments later, the touch of his hands near her nose had her pulling her eyes open just as she let out a snort; it had tickled! Then, embarassed she took on a pose that looked outright ashamed. It HAD felt wonderful, but she had forgotten how ticklish she could be!
"I suggest we talk before, Kyp." J'dol replied with a grin, "You'll be way too relaxed after to want to say anything, I promise." Okay, so J'dol was cocky when it came to his abilities, but he didn't think that was necessarily a bad thing; he actually had the skill to somewhat back it up. A breeze picked up then, reminding J'dol that it was still Autumn and they were standing around in wet clothes. "I'll be honest, a cup of klah after this would be nice. How's that Stripey, right there?"
Kayath rumbled and moved her head back down once the ticklish sneezy feeling had ended. She was enjoying his attention for sure. You're doing lovely, K'r. You are not Mine, but he has had much practice. A pop of cool air announced the arrival of J'dol's two blue flits, who were quick to follow orders and begin assisting with oiling, as they had been trained; Kayath was too big a job for just one person after all. Oh Pastenutth! You are looking marvelous!

Even Stripe couldn’t help but shake his head in amusement at the spluttering mess that became of his rider. Unable to formulate a proper response that wasn’t gibberish and arm flailing, Kyprioth instead shot the other man a look before he turned once more to Kayath. He was bright red though, ears burning as he turned his head just right to utilize his good eye to keep watch on J’dol.
Don’t do that, then the others won’t wash their own dragons, and they will get fat and lazy. Perhaps you should go about when no one is looking and mess them up a bit A striped claw was extended over J’dols hand gently, wiggling his paws in hopes of getting a massage over them.
Kyprioth couldn’t help it. He giggled a bit at the look the dragon pulled. “Oi Sweet, sorry!” He patted what he could reach, which with her pose was really just the tip of her nose, and waited patiently for her to lower herself back down. Well, he stored that information away for later. He had no idea that dragons were ticklish!
A pop followed by a scream heralded Banner who glared down at the blue fits. Going as low as to clean a dragon?! How dare they! Snarling he darted around them trying to make their job all the more annoying, dodging Kyprioth as he tried to smack him away.
“Yer know, now I sort of want ter see 'ow good yor at these massages, just because yer seem ter ffink yer could turn me into putty.” He had a moment to flash a grin to his friend before going back to trying to oil Kayath at the same time he was fighting off Banner.
“Klah would be nice, sorry I cant cop all of yer Kayaff, not that yer need it beautiful. Banner if yer keep this up I will feed yer ter the nearest werry, and then where will yer be, then? Better yet, right, I'll trade J'dol in for-AHK" Banner dive bombed just right when Kyprioth was extended to far to get him. With a yelp he went tumbling down Kayaths side to land in a heap at her face.
“Ow.’
You are doing such a wonderful job J'dol, and thank you Kayath! Is Mine squished? I would hate to eat Banner...

J'dol gave a hearty laugh as Kyp gave him the response he had expected, though the laugh tapered off into a wistful sigh as he smiled and winked. His hands never once stopped their touch on Pastenutth, making sure he covered as much of the bronze as he could so that his entire body would be closer to relaxed.
"You know Stripe, one day he'll learn to ignore me. When that happens... I think I'm going to miss his little panic attacks." He pressed against a particular knot, nodding to himself as he felt it relax. As Stripe started moving, J'dol stepped back, thinking the bronze was done with him, only to find a big heavy paw in his hands. "Oooh I'm spoiling you Striper. I suppose you want to keep my massages all to yourself huh?" He was almost teasing the dragon now, though he did give in to the silent request, carefully massaging the dragon's paw and motioning to pass the next foot over once he was ready.
Still looking ashamed, Kayath lowered her head again to try once more, when the man's rather annoying flit started screeching in her ear. Snorting, she tried to pin the garnet with a death stare as he went about his business. Of the two blue flits, Spazz was the only one to respond to Banner's taunting; quickly jumping up to chase after him playfully. Tipsy, having never been a good flyer, was more than content to continue working on the dragoness. Do not worry K'r. Mine will make up for it tonight. Won't you, dear rider. The mildly sinister sounding voice wasn't a question, more a command and J'dol, with a flourish, bowed and made a comment about her will being his command.
"Kyp!" He stopped his massage, paw still in hand as he stared at the younger rider. "He better not be squished, the dork." J'dol commented, dropping the paw and jogging over to Kyp's side to poke his cheek. "Oi you, are you alright, or do i need to take drastic measures?" Kayath too had moved to peer down at him, blowing a puff of air over the man.
"Stripes, you gotta teach your rider not to be so clumsy."

Stripe was going to become used to attention like this. Which meant of course, that he would expect it more often. Since this was easy enough to do, after all, all he had to do was get J’dol to come visit his rider, he was practically rolling with giddy pride. J’dol could teach Kyprioth how to do this, he’d get free massages out of it, and his rider would get to spend time with his favorite person. He saw no flaw in this logic.
He had been switching paws when his rider took a nose dive into the dirt. Knowing he was fine, just dazed, he walked over at a more content pace, peering down at the young man for a moment.
Assuming everyone was distracted, Banner made the wrong move of swooping down low enough to go for Stripes nose. With an audible snap, like two skulls cracking together, the firelizard was suddenly gone and Stripe was standing there, head up, throat bulging and eyes wide.
“Drastic measures would probably make me not able ter m-Stripe! Blimey! Stripe did yer eat 'im?! Honest guv! Yer can't eat 'im, that's cannibalism or sumfink, right, why would yer eat 'im?! Struth!?! Blimey!” Scrambling to his feet, grasping J’dols arm for leverage, he stared, horrified at his dragon.
Stripe turned his head just enough to hack out the very wet, very squished, very disgruntled firelizard. Banner, terrified, drew his spit dripping body along the ground to cower behind Kayath’s foot.
Oh stop your whining if I had wanted to hurt you I would have hurt you. Are you going to be nice now?
A ‘meep’ escaped the garnet.
“Oi, my poor firelizard.” Kyprioth was torn between laughing and feeling terribly sorry for the thing.

J'dol certainly would agree with Stripe's logic; any excuse he had to spend time with the other rider was good enough for him, and if he got to use his hands somewhere in the deal then there was no way J'dol would pass up an opportunity. Of course, the flaw was that J'dol would haveto remember who he was supposed to be using his hands on.. but that wasn't something the man himself was worried about.
J'dol stared at the bronze, not sure what to do; he had never actually seen a dragon eat a flit before. He had seem the little pests get threatened and snapped at before, but never quite this far. He braced himself as Kyp used his arm for balance, subconsciously making sure he wouldn't be pulled off balance himself. Then, as Banner hid behind kayath, J'dol couldn't contain his laughter anymore.
"How to train your firelizard in one easy step!" He barked out, feeling terribly sorry for Banner and wondering if the garnet's behaviour would change at all. J'dol wasn't going to take any chances though; he was positive he'd be carrying treats around in his pockets for a long while yet. Kayath seemed equally as amused (and a little disgusted) and didn't hesitate before lifting her foot and stepping away from the firelizard. I am NOT a shield for your stupidity, firelizard, nor do I want your slobbery hide anywhere near my perfection.. She gave a snobby huff and, just for good measure, dipped that foot back in the water.
Spazz did a few loops, weaving close to Stripe's head as if being snapped at was some sort of game. Tipsy, on the other hand, gave a sad warble and landed on J'dol's shoulder, peering down at Banner and chirping curiously, as if to ask what it was like being nearly eaten. J'dol lifted his hand to idly rub at the chimeric blue's head.
"Kayath love, do you mind if I oil you this afternoon, when I'm no longer wet and cold?" Kayath gave him a look, but didn't argue, so he took that as an affirmative. Ruffling K'r's hair for a moment, J'dol grinned before stepping away from Kyp and back towards his pants.
"By the way Kyp, the offer still stands. If you're ever sore I'd be happy to prove my massage skills to you." Without any warning, because J'dol had no shame and didn't think of these things, he yanked off his wet undergarment, leaving himself in his birthing day suit for a few quick moments before he was pulling his dry pants on. "Or I could steal your dragon away for another massage, would you like that Stripe?"
