Firelizards

Anatomy:
Fire lizards are a common enough pet no matter where on Pern you live. The fore-runners to dragons, Fire lizards look almost exactly like their kin, only in miniature, with even the large Gold Queens only being the length of a full grown human's forearm. They are akin to dragons in almost every respect appearance wise, and while unable to speak with their chosen bond-mate, they have a decent memory and use thought-images to get their point across.

Lifestyle:
Fire lizards do not care who they impress to, gender or sexuality wise. They impress only to people, or the occasional bonded, who have food for them. After their bonded dies, a fire lizard can re-impress to someone else. The same also goes for the human or creature that bonded to a fire lizard that dies. They too can re-impress to a new flit.

Mating/Clutching:
Mating for fire lizards is exactly the same as with dragons. (See the dragon info for more details on that.) The only difference is that all female colors can clutch. Greens will clutch anywhere from 1-4 eggs, while Golds can clutch from 6-20 eggs. However, like with whers, some eggs, especially in green clutches, end up being duds.

Eye colors:
blue/green = contentment or happiness
yellow = fear or alert
orange/red = anger
red = hunger
white = danger
gray = pain
purple = love/mating lust
